About Addie:

Addie lets you share privately. Addie gives you 2GB of free storage and a streamlined uploading, organizing, and sharing experience, unlike any other site. You can easily create many small social networks of friends or family where you can share notes, photos, files, and everyone’s comments… away from everyone else. With Addie, the only way you can share with someone is if you already have their email address or they already shared with you.

Most photo sharing and social sites make you forfeit your copyright. With Addie, your photos and files remain your own. Addie is about getting things done and offers a great user experience, not a bloated set of features you don’t need. We think you’ll find it’s the best option for collecting, organizing, and sharing all your photos, files, and notes.

  1. Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).

My first thoughts and impressions of this webpage are, it’s simple and colorful. It appears Addie allows users to upload images, pictures and files that they want to share with others who they have an email address for. My inital thought would be when reading the main page is, the website helps you to email the files to a person, so they must also have some sort of account with the site. It also seems to allow the user to send larger files that many email accounts do not. The video does seem a bit long, but does give some good information of the service.

Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?

I was about to sign up for an account very easily. I didn’t have any problems with signing up, the process was simple and quick.

Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?

When looking at the inbox, there is one item marked README, I would think I’m supposed to read the inital message before doing anything else. The design seems simple, I don’t overly like the yellow/orange color of the page, but the fonts are big and easy to read. The page does seem easy to use and to understand how to add people and files for upload.
Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?

I was able to create a new folder, and I was able to add files to it. I didn’t find it too difficult to figure out how to do it. The buttons to push to create a folder and add files are pretty easy to find.
Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?

I was able to upload files to the folder, and I was able to find the file that I uploaded as well. The upload process is quick and very easy to complete.
In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?

I think this app is a good general use program for those wishing to send large pictures, or business files to clients or family. It is easy to use, read and access even for those who may not have a lot of computer skill. I doubt I would use this app, as I do not have many uses for sending large files, I am able to send my images or documents easily via email.

If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?

I would most likely upload more pictures or files to the program, and use it to send the pictures to family or friends. I might also use it to send larger document files to clients.

Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?

Yes I would find receiving 2GB of free storage space attractive, especially if I had a number of larger picture and document files to send and store.

Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?

I don’t have another program I use other than a flash drive to save my pictures and documents to. If I did use an online storage and sharing space, I might consider it once I had the chance to use it more and compare others of a similar nature.

Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?

Addie appears to be easy to use, and it would be useful for those needing a program to send larger files or documents. For those wanting to store pictures off their computer, as well as files it may also be a good idea, but for most users, they may not find it’s really necessary for them.

  2. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).
It appears to be one of those file sharing services that gives the user storage space for various kinds of documents and media and supports sharing. After watching the video, I see that your main selling points are that Addie provides more social networking features than most file storage/sharing apps but allows for more privacy than many social networking sites. Also, the user retains all rights to any files uploaded to Addie.

Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?
I was able to sign up, and I didn’t have any problems. And I love you for not making me go to my email account and confirm my registration!

Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?
At this point, I really wanted to watch that video on the home page again because I stopped watching once you started explaining how to use the site. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any way to get back to the home page once I’m logged into the site. That’s a shame! At least you provide a Help link…Oh! And when I click on that, here’s the video!

The design is easy to understand and intuitive. Not sure I care for the colors black, orange, yellow, and blue together, but it’s not a dealbreaker. Don’t love that there’s a big old ad alongside my inbox, but I guess I can’t complain too much since it’s free.

What do I think I should do first? Upload some files so I have something to share and add some people so I have someone to share them with. 🙂

Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?
Well, I watched the video, so I knew how to drag and drop the files after clicking “Add Files.” However, if I hadn’t watched the video, my first instinct would have been to try to drag and drop the files directly to my test folder, which, of course, isn’t how it works. Anyway, I added two files, and Addie reported that both had been uploaded 100%. However, when I went into the folder to look at the files, only one had actually been uploaded. And then–get this–I clicked out of my test folder to have a look at something else, and when I went back, neither file was there anymore. It was as if I’d never uploaded them! So I tried to upload one more, and I didn’t see that one, either….Okay, wait. Now I see they’re in my inbox. Hmm. I thought I was specifically adding them to my test folder. Guess not. Ok, so how do I add these files to my test folder? I remember the video showed a bunch of icons, but I don’t see them…Oh! I have to actually click on the bar beside each file to see the icons. I don’t like that. There’s no way I would’ve known they were there if I hadn’t watched the video first. They should always be there, I think…Ok, so I clicked the folder icon, and here I am at the Organize page. I’m checking my test folder, but how do I initiate/confirm that I’m adding the file?…Oh, I see. I have to click the name of the folder as well. See, I wouldn’t have known that without playing around. I’d prefer to have a button to click that says “Add File” or something.

Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?
Huh? I thought that’s what I just did.

In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?
Obviously, I haven’t had a chance to play around with it that much, but it looks useful for those who need a file sharing service. Four things I found out about from your video that I really like: 1) You can assign a single file to multiple folders. 2) You can drag one or more files to a single person or group to share. 3) You can create shared folders that select users can always see and add content to themselves. 4) All content uploaded to your site remains the sole property of the user.

On the other hand, I don’t know how your service stacks up against others of its ilk. There are a lot of file sharing services out there. In your video, one of your main selling points is that social networks don’t allow for as much privacy as your service does. I’m not sure that’s true of all social networks. You also claim that other file sharing services require downloads. I’m not sure that’s true of all other file sharing services, either. In short, you have a lot of competition, and I’m not sure your service is actually bringing something that unique to the mix.

Would I use Addie? Probably not since I don’t have much need for file sharing. However, if I needed a file sharing service, it seems to be as good a service as any other, so I might try it. At the moment, though, I’m a bit put off by my uploading problems. I’d hate to upload a bunch of stuff and find out later that some of it didn’t actually upload.

If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?
    Share some files!

Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?
I honestly don’t know how that compares to other file sharing services. If it’s more than most, then yes, of course it would be appealing.

Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?
No, I don’t. I just don’t have enough need of it.

Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?
Sure. I like that your home page keeps it simple. The blue and gold is a nice, bold contrast. You have a really cute image, and your copy is short and sweet (though I would enlarge it a little and take it out of that bordered box, which resembles a Google ad too closely). I would also make your log-in/sign-up smaller and use the extra space to embed your video on the home page or at least make the link to it much bigger and more prominent. I almost missed it up in the header.

Speaking of the video, the reason it’s so long is because you’re trying to combine an introductory video with a help video. You should really divide the video into two. The intro video should be embedded on the home page, and the help video should be under the Help section on the dashboard.

I’d also suggest that you create a navbar on the home page with some additional informational pages. People often want to have a look around before they sign up for something. Try adding a page called “What’s Addie?” that expands on your selling points (which really need some expansion since they don’t really convey what’s best about Addie on the home page) and another called “How It Works” or “Features” that includes your help video, screenshots, and some copy to walk new users through your file sharing service. You could also stand to have an about page and an FAQ, and it would be great to move your contact page up to the top as well.

My overall impression is that your file sharing service has some nice features, some of which may be unique. But I don’t know enough about file sharing services in general to tell you whether or not yours would appeal to me more than others. I know I’ve seen some here on StartUpLift that looked really excellent. Also, I’m a bit concerned that there were a couple of glitches when I actually tried using your service. Plus, not everything is as intuitive as it could be. Nevertheless, if you could correct a couple of those small issues, I’d say you’d have at least as good a chance of success as any other file sharing app.

  3. Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).

It is clear that one can collect, organize and share their photos, files and notes but I didn’t understand whether it is free or not. Moreover it allows 2GB of free storage. The image is clear what exactly the site mean. Layout and colors are impressive.

Yes, video is bit long but clear and understandable. We can make our files private as well as share with others.

Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?

It is really quick and easy to signup.
    Yes
No, I didn’t find any problem and I also received mail notification immediately.

Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?

As I understand about the Addie it is clear about the functionality and design. Addie adds column and search people column are clubbed and bit confusing. I thought it search people box and manage people section belongs to add.
At first I thought of clicking on “README” first. Later I want to upload some files and then to next what ever it may be.

Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?

Initially I created a folder and tried into change the folder name but I was unable to. It is provided with the option to edit the folder name but unable to change it.

Dragged two .pdf files and uploaded into the folder but they uploaded in my inbox and unable to move in to my created folder.

Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?

I uploaded 8 files at a time but I didn’t find any button in the header. I can find them in my inbox.

In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?

It is useful application but I don’t believe in trusting. It seems to be some what when compared. As of now some office related tools are there which are of similar. As an individual I would like to see this type of application. One think I can say is that we can create many folders with single file upload.

If you were to continue using the app, what would you do next?

If I want to continue using this application I would like to create folders and differentiate my files and try to create a small database.

Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?

Obviously at the same time need more because photos may occupy more space comparatively.

Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?

Not in particular, right now I am using google products to maintain my data separately. As you know we can’t bring all these type of files under one roof. I didn’t come across any application to switch off to with these features though we have many file sharing sites.

Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?

First thing is that please provide application along with the video so that it makes things easy. When I got a small doubt while using the application I thought of watching the video again but I couldn’t.
Provide contact us form with drop down list regarding the issues that we may problem instead of mail id.
Please concentrate on ads that you display and also make sure that add and application are separate without any confusion.
On the homepage provide login text boxes instead of signup boxes because I was bit confused and trying to click on signup button and waiting for the signup form initially when I tried to signup. Later, after observing I noticed that it is only the signup form.
It is better to give a preview of the application on the homepage itself that would make feel better instead asking to signup directly.
Allow us to upload profile photo which would be impressive.
Please provide more options for profile settings, like security questions, mobile number, etc because one may upload personal photos office documents.

  4. Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).
My first impression is that your website is visually professional, vibrant and creative. I really liked the tornado going into addie and coming out easy. It visually goes with what your website say it does. The color choice is vibrant but not overwhelmingly bright and the layout is simple. I like that you put icons that people use everyday into the tornado. It sort of answers the question of what addie can handle with being so obvious about it. I like how the content and font are easy to read. Your site, in short, allows people to upload their personal content and share it to whomever they choose to. I will say that I am not a big fan of bold on website but here it totally works because it’all the same color and it doesn’t look like your pushing content just intentionally directing to key information. It also flows nicely being that it’s all on the same line. When I clicked on the video it took a couple seconds for the page to lay itselfl out correctly. Meaning, the ad wasnt present and the video wasnt the length of the page. It is possible to shift the ad to anothe area on you page being that it’s a little distracting. I also find the text below the video unecessary being that you have already stated that on the homepage and I can only assume your video may touch on that. Before I was 10 seconds into the video I must say that the voice sounds like it’s far away and not in the forefront, so to speak. You also said you want a brief explanation with an 8 minute plus video but I understand that your working on make it shorter. I also found to fully see teh video I had to just enlarge it, that may be okay for some and other may not care at all. At around 5:17 on the video there seems to be a voice problem as if its speaking over another section. I really liked the video but as you said it does need to be shortened. I would like to see separate videos on pictures, document and notes because are the three things that you touched on in the video. I can say that after 7 minutes you started loosing my attention. The video is informative but the speed needs to slowed down a bit. It seems like there’s to much information be crammed in and I think that screen shot maynot be descriptive enough to show peole just how addie works.
Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?
Sign up fast and within a few seconds I was taken to the inbox and saw my name at the top of the page.
Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?
I read the note that said read me first. I like the content in the inbox however I don’t think it should be there. I think those topics should be somewhere on the homepage for people to click on and see before hand. The design is fine I just feel like I don’t know what to do with the content in my inbox. The only thing that I don’t care for two much is the side area with the ad and the addie info. The needs to be moved below the addie content and have a distinct space between the two. Right not it’s just all running together.
Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?
I was able to easily create a folder but I was little thrown off when it came to uploding a file. I did realize that anything you upload will automatically go to the inbox then you are organize and do whatever else you want. I am still having trouble just dragging the items. I liked having the addie help folder because I was able to just open the PDF if I needed any help. My computer must be older or I just don’t how to use teh drag feature because I wasn’t able to master that step. On the icons inside of folder it would be nice to have something say what they are. If you haven’t watched the video if you just cant remember you won’t know what each stands for.
Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?
I could upload the file and moved it to my newly created folder with ease. I would like if there was a way to upload a file right into the folder I had open instead of moving it from the inbox to folder. I also would like to see some type of button that say go or start that lets me know when an action is completed. When I was adding a contact to share a folder with all it said was check folders this person can access and that was it. How is a person supposed to know if the action was completed with taking the time to look in the folder to see it.
Thanks for getting started with Addie, just a couple more questions:
In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?
This seems like a really nice app but I think some of the steps are lengthy. I felt like I needed an in house turtorial when I completed a new step. Some type of function moving, directing or talking me through a first time function. Or mini tutorial to show me how to use that function on the side of page somewhere. If I was a really into file sharing your site seems really nice, especially when it come to groups.
If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?
I consider myself somewhat of a foodie so I would upload all of my many food pics and share them with friends and family.
Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?
    Sounds great!
Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?
Right now all my pic are loaded to a photo sharing account linked to my phone provider and my documents are on my computer. For me being able to share a large amount of pic, docs and notes with tons of peole at once would really drive me to move to your site. But…I would to see some video or mini turtials to help with such an event of moving a lot of information to your site.
Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?
It would be nice to sync contacts instead of adding them one by one.

  5. Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).

My impression toward this site is that it is a social network site which looks professional on it. But the homepage is lack of something for me. It is more like a advertising site than a social site. The homepage description make thing clear that your site is about sharing and sharing photos and files. The homepage does not look attractive and interesting to me. I suggest you put the video on the homepage so that people can view it directly when they visit your homepage instead of have to click to view. I watched the video, it’s straight forward which i doesnt feel bored when watching it. It shows the steps of how it works which is very nice. But i wondering why would you add another box for the video which i have to scroll down to view the pause and play button.

Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?

I have signed up, after i filled my name email address and password, the page loading too long and it doesnt display anything, i expect it may display your registration is complete please verify email. When i go check on my mail, i saw a mail from addie and i click the get started. The page still take longer than normal to load. I not sure weather is my connection problem or it’s the page problem.

Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?

The design is special for me and it is comfort to view for me. But i does not know what i need to do first when i first logged in. I suggest you can have a pop up box which displaying the first step of what we can do or need to do and provide a skip button if people does not want to use the popup instruction. I might want to click on the items showing in the list at first. it’s a little confusing at first.

Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?

Yes i were able to create a new folder under the folder navigator. I suggest that you create a link named ‘new folder’ for convenience of member to create a new folder directly. After i typing the folder name the new folder created, but i does not know how to add file into the folder, i clicked the add files button at top to drag item into it. At here, people need an instruction of how to use all your feature. A simple popup instruction is very useful.

Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?

Yes i were able to upload file into it. it is easy and convenient. Yes i saw the file in the inbox.

In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?

This app is useful for people who like to share thing, for student who have group study to share their files, also for business who want to send document to their partner or workers. I will not use it for now as i dont feel it’s convenience enough for me to send file or share file with others. If you having a easily understanding of how to use the app or what need to do first, it will become more flexible and attract more people. People like convenience stuff, so at first, i think the instruction is very important. You can change your page layout into a more simpler and clearer image of how to use it and what need to do.

If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?

I would add some photos and files, and try to share it and telling my friends to try it.

Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?

For me yes, as i not often share lots of files with others. For people for always sharing or uploading files into the internet, a bigger storage space might attract them more.

Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?

No, i only use facebook for photo sharing. I dont share files with other as i dont need it. No, i would not considers switching. If you have a better layout and a flexible navigation i would consider switching. I suggest that you can think of something that others competitor don’t provide to attract more members. Such as allow people to trade files, or if they can earn money by selling some useful files with others. This is just a reference idea. You can have your own new idea. If we have something that so special which other dont provide then you can attract more members.

Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?

Overall, it is a great site which providing a very useful service and it’s free. you just have to organize your page layout in a more complex and convenience for the member and also the clear instruction. Your page navigation have to be more clear and more convenient for people to view and click on it which is also have to be understandable. I suggest you can add a slide show in the homepage displaying the how it works step by step instruction. It will be convenience for visitor to view the slide shows. You can include some interesting picture in the slide show and add a short description on it. This will look more professional. You also can create a forum for your members or visitor to post various of question or issue on it.

  6. Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).

The layout is vibrant. I really like the picture of the cyclone with cluttered data being organised into neat bundles of files, photos and ideas. The name addie is catchy. This is basically a file sharing site which also helps to organize your data. The homepage is attractive.
The video is long and has lots of unnecessary information. Yes, you should focus on a shorter video addressing key points.

Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?

Sign up was a piece of cake. this is fast. Completely hassle free.

Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?

The procedure to add and manage people is a little confusing. The readme page is informative , but not enough. i like the layout of this page and the contents of my inbox. I think i want to upload some photos and see how easy photo sharing is.

Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?

Creating a folder is easy. I like how whatever you upload goes to the inbox first. The help feature is very good. Cleared all my doubts instantly. Dragging and dropping was easy.

Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?

I uploaded some pictures with ease and they ended up in my inbox.

Thanks for getting started with Addie, just a couple more questions:
In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?

Yes. this app is nice overall. The procedures in places are lengthy. I dont know what differentiates it from other file sharing sites though. And the process is slightly tedious in my opinion.

If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?

I would try and upload different kinds of documents and see whether im able to manage them properly using this app. i would also share it with everyone.

Is getting 2gb of free space attractive to u?

It is very attractive as most sites don’t give that much. But one doesn’t use all of it technically.

Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?

I use facebook and myspace currently. I don’t think ill switch because none of my family and friends are members of this site.

Anything else that you would like to say about addie.

-The layout is attractive and simple.
    -the pages are uncluttered.
-the file sharing process is relatively easy but long
    – Include a faq page.
    -Work on a shorter video.
-Add something innovative to this app which differentiates it from all the others.

  7. Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).

Its understood addie provides me with 2 GB free storage space, where i can store my different kinds of data including the multimedia files, and interestigly i can share this with friends via email.

Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?

NO, the signup was simple. there were no much problems to point out.

Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?

The design is ok.The first thing i’d like to do is obviously to start using the service, upload some file and try sharing.

Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?

    Yes,everything went fine for me.

Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?

    Yes, this too went alright.

Thanks for getting started with Addie, just a couple more questions:

In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?

May be or may not, i dont have much file to share, and i already have many filesharing systems, so why should i go to addie, this may be first thought of everyone.

If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?

I would try to link this with my facebook and twitter.

Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?

NO, because there are a lot many who provides more space.Say for example the amazon cloud.they provide 5GB space and that too absolutely free.

Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?

It depends, for photos and small videos i use facebook,e mail, photobucket, flicker, ofcourse 4shared etc i would consider swithing but that depends on the services you provide.

Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?

    >consider about providing more space.

    >more security, your security features are not upto the mark.

    >additional services and options like linking with twitter, facebook etc

  8. Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).
The website is colorful, simple and attractive. Addie is basically a webpage that is similar to snapfish.com and helps in collection and sharing of pictures. I did not make it through to all of the video, it is pretty lenghty and nothing too exciting about it.

Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?
The sign up is pretty easy and quick. I liked the fact that there were not too many questions required for one to sign up – just three steps and it was done!

Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?

The inbox is simple and user friendly. However, when I first logged in and there was blank space underneath the inbox, I thought I might have gone to the wrong page, thus, I wish there would be some pictures of something else in the gray box area instead of just the blank space. I definite read the “READ ME FIRST” message and i am going to go ahead and try uploading some pictures.

Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?

Creating a folder was very easy. However, dragging was difficult for me to figure out. What to drag and from where to drag? I think this part was a bit confusing.

Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?

I uploaded about four files and tried to move them into a folder. I think the way the webpage is set up to organize the pictures into a folder is a bit confusing. I wish there was a way to tell the system which folders these files should go to once they are uploaded. Findiong a file is a bit confusing as well.

In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?

I think the app is pretty cool. However, I would probably keep using snapfish since it is a much user friendly application and I am already used to it.

If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?

If I were to continue using the app, I would probably play around with it a little more so I can get used to it. I am a little afraid of not being able to find the files in the folders I intend to save them since I had difficulty with this process the first time I tried doing the same.

Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?

It sure is! Again, there are other websites that provide this facility and personally, I do not think there is anything new to it!
Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?

Yes, I use snapfish.com to store, print and organise my pictures and I would continue using it. At this particular moment, I will not consider switching since I do not think this app is as user friendly as I the one I am currently using.

Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?

I think Addie is a great website, however, I hope that you will make it a little more user friendly so people who are not very advanced in the use of similar application and computer itself (like grandparents) can feel comfortable using it and will get attracted to using it regularly.

  9. Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).
Addie is a file sharing service. It lets people store photo’s video’s and documents and share them with only the people they want to share them with.

Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?
The sign up process was very easy but when I was reading your terms of use I thought it illogical to talk about fee’s first and then say the free service would continue. However, I did really like the fact that it says the free service contains ads. Although I’m not sure that having an ad on the terms of service page is a good idea.

Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?
I like the inbox box set up but the getting started pdf file doesn’t work at all. (I’m using firfox newest version 4.0.). The first thing is to read all the messages you sent. It seems message 1 and 4 are a bit redundant and could be combined into 1 message.

Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?
Creating a folder was very easy however getting photo’s moved into is not that easy. A cliff note at the bottom of the page telling me how to do it would be helpful. This would keep me from needing to re-watch the video. I’m figuring there are directions in the pdf file but it doesn’t work so I am left to my own devises to figure it out.
Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?
Uploading was surprisingly quick and easy. I found the files immediately without any problems.

In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?
I like the idea but there is one very important question that is not answered and that would determine whether or not I would use it. I want to know if I can download the pictures people share with me, If the answer is yes I can do that using a free account then yes I would use. If the answer to that is not you can’t or that there’s a fee to do that then no I would not.
If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?
I would invite family and friends to use it with me.
Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?
Yes but I think you need to tell people more specifically what that means. Like some hundreds or thousands of pics. or some many video’s ect…
Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?
No, I don’t use another service but I would consider using this if I can download shared pictures for free.
Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?
On the whole I like the site and the app’s are easy to use.

  10. Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).
Addie is a website for storing and sharing files.  My first impression of the page could be better, I do not like the tornado, but I do like the simplicity of the page.
Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?
I did not have any trouble signing up or signing in.
Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?
I do like the setup of the inbox, very easy to use. The first thing I want to do is read the “README FIRST” message, which is helpful in getting started.

Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?
Creating a folder was very quick and painless along with dragging items into it.

Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?
Uploading files was very easy and super fast and finding them was just as easy.

In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?
Overall, I do like the Addie app and would use it for storage purposes only, I’m not really into the sharing part, I have a facebook account and any photos I want others to see I post there.

If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?
    I would continue uploading files.

Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?
I do think the 2GB of free storage is a plus, that is a lot of memory.

Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?
I don’t have a current program to share files, but if I did I would consider switching.

Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?
Very simple and easy to use!!

  11. Q1) Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).
A1) My first impression looking at Addie’s landing page – As the name hints; Addie looks like a storage box where we can add files and share them with the ones we want to share with. The Addie image shown is very creative and it answers the question, ‘What is Addie for?’ The Addie in Action video in-short explains about Addie, it’s available features and how can we use it?

Q2) Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?
A2) The Sign-up process is indeed very easy. I would recommend you to mark the mandatory fields. Like in my case I tried to Sign-up with just an ‘Email-id’ and a ‘Password’ since I did not find ‘Name’ a mandatory field and was left with sign-up error messages on clicking the ‘SIGN UP NOW’ button. Also, I would recommend to have another similar password box for users to retype the password. This will assure user of his/her password correctness.

Q3) Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?
A3) The inbox by default showed 4 items and I found this a great way to get started with the application. I viewed some of the items and then returned back to the inbox; now when I see the items again, I don’t know which ones had I viewed before. Here I want to bring to notice is that there should be some flag/icon outlined to show/indicate the actions performed by the user.

Let me cater my idea: For example after having clicked the eye (view button) I would want you to keep the eye button highlighted so that when I visit this item again in my inbox, I am aware of the action I performed on this item. Same can apply for ‘EDIT’ action or other actions (if required) as well.

What I should be doing first – I actually wanted to sort my items first and was looking for a column-header to sort my items (an ancient defacto of sorting columns), but good I finally found (..I found them quickly) those arrow buttons for sorting my items. This is innovative!

Q4) Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?
A4) Folder creation is easy and I dragged couple of items into it very easily. This is all fine but I did not find any intuitive factor that hints or drives me to use a very good feature called ‘Drag n Drop’.

Q5) Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?
A5) Uploading is quite easy. Dragging a local file and dropping it to the upload file list was quite interesting. Note: A PLUS (+) cursor icon is shown on drop; kindly show this icon only when user is moving the cursor within a drop/destination area only.

Thanks for getting started with Addie, just a couple more questions:

Q6) In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?
A6)Yes, I find this application very useful. It is a great way to share files globally without the risk of privacy being breached. Hence I would use and recommend this application.

Q7) If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?
A7) My next step would be to share it with my friends and as I keep getting familiar with this application; I would think of making the best use of it by involving my business associates along with me.

Q8) Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?
A8) I guess 2GB of usage is a technical specification which depends on users’s requirements. If I were to use Addie for my business then this specification suits my business perfectly and hence is attractive.

Q9) Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?
A9) Well, I use facebook to share my photos with the ones I want; Well since all my friends are on facebook and facebook being a giant I may not use Addie for sharing my photos; but yes I would definitely use Addie to share my personal documents.

Q10) Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?
A10) Yes, overall a good and easy to use application. I would conclude with my last suggestion: The label at the bottom indicating disk usage: ‘You are using 0.03% (624 KB) of your 2 GB limit.’ is not easily noticable, so kindly improve the visibility (increase the font size or make it bold).

  12. Apologies. Please do not evaluate FEEDBACK NUMBER [11] (it mistakenly got submitted twice).
Kindly evaluate my feedback number [12].

  13. Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).

The first thing that pops out when I look at the site is the text “The simplest way to collect, organize, and share your photos, files, and notes.” So straight away I know this is a website for storing and sharing files. The illustration is cool and I think it ties in well. My first impression of the layout was that everything just seemed a little squished together on the home page. There two large empty blue columns down either side of the page and all the information is squished into the middle.

I think a shorter video is definitely a smart idea as 8 min 49 sec is far too long. I had a quick look at the video and I think it could be kept but as a tutorial/teaching video for those that can’t work out how everything works. But a short introduction video would be more ideal for the home page.

Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?

I signed up to Addie and it was quick and very simple. I had absolutely no problems signing up, it was probably the quickest sign up I’ve ever done. I just think it would be a good idea to mention on the home page that it’s FREE. The fact that it’s free is a huge draw card to me and probably other users but it doesn’t state that anywhere on the home page.

Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?

After having a look at the inbox I think I should read the note titled “Read me first”. I think it’s a fantastic idea to have the four default items in the inbox, all the information is right in front of the user and they don’t need to search for answers. I think the design is fine although I don’t particularly like the color of the top bar with Inbox etc. The color clashes a bit with the other yellow used, but this wouldn’t be a big issue and stop me from using the site.

Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?

I clicked on folders up the top, that then took me to a page were I saw “add a new folder”. I then typed in a name for the folder and clicked add. Creating the folder was very straight forward and simple. Dragging items into the folder took me a couple of minutes to work out. Then I spotted the folders button on the left hand column and worked it out. It wasn’t super hard to figure out because it’s similar to the windows layout of my computer, my documents etc.

Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?

I found the button in the header very easily but the little grey colored button “add files” down the bottom was harder to spot. I had to stop for a minute and work out what to do next before I spotted it. It blends in too much with the background and is very small.
Once I found the button though it was very fast, simple and straightforward. I was able to successfully upload a picture file. I was then able to find the file I uploaded in my inbox.

Thanks for getting started with Addie, just a couple more questions:

In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?

I think it’s a great idea and I think I would use it and mainly because 1. It’s free and 2. It’s private.

If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?

I would probably read through the getting started guide and have a closer and more detailed look at the items in my inbox. I would probably even watch the video when I had time.

Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?

For me it is because I don’t think I would actually use that amount. It depends what market you are trying to target though as to whether it’s an adequate amount.

Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?

I use facebook for pictures but I think I would use Addie for files and personal documents, pictures etc. I have also had problems trying to send big files via hotmail so Addie would solve that problem.

Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?

I think the overall look of the homepage could be improved by making it a little more crisp and improving the layout.

  14. No problem. We’ll take a look at number [12] – thanks for the feedback!
    -Jeremy, Co-founder

  15. Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).

The home page of Addie seems very professional and clear when describing what Addie is all about.

Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?

Signing up with Addie was quickand easy with no problems.

Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the design? What do you think you should do first?

I find Addie to be more private than social sites with similar capabilities.  I like that because if I don’t want to share something I don’t have to.  No one can search for me and find me, unless I want him or her to.  With Addie, it seems I am in control of who finds me and who gets to see my files.  I like that.  The first thing I want to do is upload some of my original art images to Addie.  I know my files will be safe from theft and I will retain all rights to them.

Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?

Creating a new folder was quick and easy.  I created my new art folder by clicking on the folder icon.  I then was able to see the add new folder option.

          * Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?

I was able to upload several of my art pieces very quickly.  I went into my new art folder and tried to upload from there.  Once uploaded, however, they appeared in my inbox.  So then I had to figure out how to get them into the art folder.  At this point, I was able to select all pictures in the inbox and then drag them into the art folder.  Originally, I expected the pictures to upload directly to the art folder, so it initially was a bit confusing.  But I was able to figure it out and dragging the pictures from the inbox to the art folder was quick and easy.
Thanks for getting started with Addie, just a couple more questions:

In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?

I think Addie is great, and I will definitely use it.

If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?

I will try to upload some of my personal files and song files.

Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?

2 GB of storage space for free is a good deal.

Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?

I usually use Facebook to store and share files and photos.  I will definitely consider switching to Addie for file storage.

Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?

Addie is a very simple and attractive solution for file storage and sharing.  I am glad to know it is available and look forward to using it to store my files.
Thanks for your time and your feedback. We hope you use and enjoy Addie.

  16.
Visit https://www.addie.it and look at it for a few seconds. What is your impression of this page? What is Addie for? If you’ve got the time, there’s a video you can watch (we’re working on a shorter video).

The first impression gave an idea of any other typical media sharing site. Based on your tagline, it seems like you are trying to simplify the overall sharing process. The design of the page looks great. I, especially like the color combinations, which are very comfortable to the eyes.

Next, I went ahead and watched your video. You do a great job of explaining how Addie works. However, it’s rather long, and if I were not doing it for StartUpLift, I would not have had patience to sit through the whole video. Also, you have some issues around the 5:20 mark “Addie give your 2 GB…”  overlaps with what you were saying.

I suggest having a short 1-2 min video that illustrates what Addie does and why I should care about you in “Layman’s terms”. You may then give one an opportunity to explore Addie further via your screencast. [Basically, what I am saying is , the video does a great job of explaininig the features. However it does not “Sell” Addie, if that was the intended purpose.

Sign up for Addie (It’s completely free and quick). Were you able to sign up? Did you have any problems?
Sign up process was seampless. Thank you for not making me type the password twice and confirm the email. I believe noone should be requiring those – very annoying.

I did not have any problems during signup.
Take a look at the Addie application and checkout the items in your Inbox. What do you think of the
design? What do you think you should do first?
As I was directed to after logging in, intuitively I clicked on Readme First file. The file really did not have much content. Since most users are very likely to read this file, you could make this more meaty. For example, after going to the inbox, I was completely not motivated to look at “get started” guide. You could probably make that part of your readme first.

Try to create a new folder and drag a couple items into it. Were you able to create a folder and drag items into it? Was it hard or easy to figure out?

It took me a few seconds to figure out how to add a new folder. My first intuition was to start looking from top left and go down. I suggest moving “Add a folder” block far to the left. After I figured out, it was pretty straightfoward process. And, I am sure I will remember where it is next time around.

I was able to easily create a folder. However, even after spending a minute or so, I could not figure out how to drag an item to it. I am using google chrome and when I dragged a file to the folder, the browser simply loaded/displayed the file instead of adding/queuing it in the folder.
Try uploading files – you’ll find the button in the header. Upload as many as you like. We’re you able to upload a file? Can you find the file now?

I just uploaded a file. Now when I go back to the folder, it’s gone. Not sure why. After adding another picture to the folder, the first file also showed up.  Ok. Now, when I go back to the folder they are not there.

I think I have figured this out. It looks like you do not automatically upload a file into a folder. I think a lot of people will find this confusing. If I am inside a folder, and then I click “Add File”, I would expect naturally for those files to be uploaded inside that particular folder. I suggest doing one of the two things: 1) Either indicate via a short message or pop over that my files have been uploaded and I may manually assign them to desired folders or, 2) Directly upload them to the righ folders. Moreover,  when you are in a folder, seeing that “Add Files” button on top right makes you naturally feel that the files are being added to your current folder.

One more thing regarding upload – I think having to click “Start Upload” button is not intuitive or is a two step process. Though not critical, I think starting the upload process as soon as files are selected using “Add files” button might be useful.

Thanks for getting started with Addie, just a couple more questions:
In general, what do you think of this app? Would you use it?
Now that I am more familiar with it and I understand your value proposition, yes I would. But I sincerely think your home page and/or video could do a better job to convince people.
If you were to to continue using the app, what would you do next?
I would probably try it out and use it for a few days (mostly for file storage purposes). Even though you mention, privacy, security, etc in your video, I am still hesitant to share anything via your site. [I guess I don’t trust enough or feel secure enough]. One thing that might help would be to add an SSL certificate [https://..] and show the secure badge somewhere to help build the trust factor.
Is getting 2GB of free storage space attractive to you?
    Yes, very much!
Do you use another product for storing and sharing your photos and files? If so, which? Would you consider switching?
I have been using Dropbox, but they have your limitations. From what I have experienced so far, I am very encouraged to use your app and if marketed right, I think it has a huge potential. Especially, right now with all the buzz around sharing, privacy and security, your app is very timely. However, right now, as a first time visitor, before signing up, the only message I get from your site is just another sharing app.
Anything else you’d like to say about Addie?
“Ads by Addie” is misleading. Either you should say “Ads by Google” or simply say ads.
Also, when I first started to watch your video, seeing the phrase “ads by addie” made me start to think you might be some sort of “ad network”.
