About Aylis:
There are two facets to Aylis. The first is providing services such as web design, branding and consultancy to our lovely clients. The second is building and maintaining our own web-based software and mobile applications.

Site Design:
Visit https://www.aylis.com. In the first few seconds, what do you think the site is about?
The first two things that stand out are the hot pink category for Services and the green category for software. So based on my first impression, you offer services related to software.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors?
It would help if you give me a specific website or competitor to compare to. I honestly don’t know what to google. I can’t compare you to IBM, because they are huge and we know their website is grand. Please specifically list who your competitor is so we can compare.
How easy is the navigation to understand? How could it be clearer?
Navigation seems to be straightforward. Well, your page tabs run vertical rather than the traditional horizontal, which is ok. I don’t understand why you have a contact form on your home page. I see a tab up top left for contact. Are you worried that a prospective visitor won’t bother looking, that you need it on the homepage?
How well could you read the text? Is the font size and style appropriate?
I think the text is a tad bit small. I would prefer if it were a larger font.
What would you remove and/or add to the site?
It seems like you need a real human face smiling or a picture of IT people. Right now, the feel (based on your homepage) is that your brand is theoretical, but I don’t see any brand credibility.Â
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have about the design.
I really like the colors that you use on the different tabs, but I would like to see a bio of real people or a picture of something real on your website.
Service Related:
Is it clear what services we provide and who our target audience is?
I think your target audience is those who need advice on web design. Right now your credibility is little to none because I don’t see any clients you have helped (in a testimonial section) and I don’t see any awards (recognition for outstanding services). I also understand your target market are people who use mobile apps. I really think you need your selling points on your site, and I think you need separate websites for each of your divisions. One site for Website related things, and one site strictly for web-based software and apps.
Let me clarify. If I were to just look at your homepage and stop, I would not want to go further to your services section (where you hide your testimonials) or your software section (where you display TraceBay). I need your selling points and what you can do for me up front and on your homepage.Â
I do not absorb anything about your brand from just your homepage, other than the introduction. Do you thing people are going to stop and try to figure out who you are and what you are from your small intro paragraph? This needs to be in an about us section. Not on your homepage.
What questions are left unanswered after reading each service?
No.Â
As a small business owner in need of a website, are you inclined to register your interest? Why
or why not?
No. At this point I would not pay your company money to provide consultancy on my brand, when it appears you need some website tweaking and to better brand yourselves. Your testimonials need to be on your homepage, and contact form removed from homepage!Â
On a scale of 1-10. After reading through our services, how confident are you that we’d do a
good job? I cannot give an accurate ranking on a scale because you say your specialty is branding and I don’t see any brand value here. It would not be a high value based on current site.
Final Thoughts: Look, I think you have a decent website, and nice colors. However, I believe that anyone nowadays can buy a website template and edit the words. Just from observation, I feel like I am looking at a template, and nobody’s home. If you want me to come to you and pay you for services, I gotta feel like I am going to get my money’s worth.Â
Actionable suggestions:
1)Â Make Font size larger
2) Remove Contact form from front page
3) Put up an about us section and move your intro section there.
4) List your selling points and why I should use you on your home page
5) Move testimonials to your homepage – I wouldn’t never seen them under services if I was a real visitor and not purposely looking under all your tabs.
6) Put up either some real photos of people from your company (preferrably smiling) or find some stock photos of IT people in a professional environment and put them up. Ideally you could have something real on your homepage and maybe a pic in an about us section and in services of an IT guy helping a customer.
7) Your homepage does not say one word about buying domains, yet you have it under your market tab.Â
This is like writing a book and not putting it in your table of content but having a hidden chapter on it. Say something about selling domains on your homepage, or remove it completely from your site.
8) I would remove the bottom most Google Adwords box from your right-hand column. If you are making real money, then you won’t need this. It detracts from your brand credibility. If you want to put this on your blog, that might be more appropriate than on your homepage (no ads on the front door)
9) Another suggestion to make your homepage more personable is to add a character or some icon that you feel characterizes your company. (example: Geico uses Gecko) I would like more feeling and soul to your website, not just colors. It feels empty.
10) You might want a tagline or motto for your company, but “Hello and Welcome” feels too generic and too much like a blog. Does not feel appropriately matched to the scope of your professional services.

Thank you for your feedback. It was very honest and insightful. We do have a “Team Page” with photos but obviously this is not prominent enough. I won’t reply to all points on here but I can assure you that everything mentioned is being considered.
I have asked the site owner to credit you as it’s obvious you spent a good deal of time and effort to help.
Right then… I guess we have plenty of actions to get through 😉

Site Design:
Visit https://www.aylis.com. In the first few seconds, what do you think the site is about?
During the first few seconds, I saw that the site provided some sort of website services.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors?
The site looks decently designed. At first it looks very clean and clear, but when you actually get into the site there are a few problems, addressed below. As for comparing the site itself, it seems to be lacking some of the important points that are needed for a web design service being offered.
How easy is the navigation to understand? How could it be clearer?
In general, the site is very easy to navigate. One way to make it clearer would be to perhaps allow the images over Company, Services, Software, and Market to be click-able. Another way to make navigation easier would be to make the titles under services and software click-able links.
How well could you read the text? Is the font size and style appropriate?
The font size and style is very clear and concise. It is also easy to read off the current background.
What would you remove and/or add to the site?
Maybe consider adding some examples of what has already been achieved right on the front page. Currently all the potential client sees right away is a static site with a single style. By providing either images of what the company has created, or perhaps a way to change the design of the homepage, would allow for a client to see what else can be created.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have about the design.
The current Contact Aylis on the homepage is misleading. At first I thought the contact page on the homepage was needed to gain additional information. When more information is located in the “More” links under services.
Service Related:
Is it clear what services we provide and who our target audience is?
It seems as though you provide Website and Logo designs for a company. There are also custom projects offered that are more tailored to a companies need. The target audience would seem to be any company that either sells goods, or wants to get information out in a “stylish” way.
What questions are left unanswered after reading each service?
I was a little unsure as to what the Market service did for a client. An easier way to simply click on a domain name, or a description on the Market page would have been nice to clearly understand what was offered on that page.
As a small business owner in need of a website, are you inclined to register your interest? Why or why not?
I would not, currently, be inclined to register. The first reason would be your site seems to only offer services in the UK, while I am located in the USA. The other reason would be because there is little that shows what the company has achieved or can achieved. The website itself also seems a bit unfinished, which would be a turn-off when website designing is being offered.
On a scale of 1-10. After reading through our services, how confident are you that we’d do a good job?
I would put my confidence around a 3-4, simply because I have nothing to compare. If there were more examples of already completed websites, then I would be able to fully judge my own confidence. Also, you site needs a little work to reach its full potential. The site itself seems mostly complete, but for web design services, you would want the site to be above and beyond complete.
Â
Final Notes:
– The company offers logo design as well, however, the current logo on the site seems a little lackluster. The Aylis with a little butterfly is nice, but the “Hello and Welcome” part seems incomplete.
– There is advertising on the homepage, which is unnecessary since the goods being sold are very specific. The type of ad you would want to show, that would get users to click, would be links to other companies that offer website design. However, this would be counter intuitive, since you want the client to choose you as their web designer.
– After thinking about it for a bit, the contact page on the homepage makes almost no sense. As it stands, it is just in the way and is very misleading. Use the homepage to showcase what you offer, and your services pages for contacting your company.
Hope it helps.
Â
In the first few seconds, what do you think the site is about?
Well, I can see off the bat that you offer “web design, branding, and consultancy” for websites. It also appears that you offer software called TraceBay, which is geared toward eBay users, but I would have to investigate further to understand what that’s about.
Â
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors?
It would’ve been helpful if you had listed some of your competitors. Assuming that they’re mostly web design and marketing firms, what I can tell you is that many of the ones I’ve seen have a look that’s much flashier and more edgy. They usually use their own sites to demonstrate some of their more sophisticated graphic and design capabilities. They also usually include extensive portfolios. I noticed that you feature some sample logo designs and one example of branding work, but I think you need more extensive samples to be competitive. I’d like to see a whole page of screenshots of your work with each shot linking to the finished product. I think you also need more case studies. I just don’t see much of a provable track record here.
Â
How well could you read the text? Is the font size and style appropriate?
I could definitely read it, but I think you should move your headline up and make the introductory text under it larger. Font is standard. No problems there.
Â
How easy is the navigation to understand? How could it be clearer?
The navigation is pretty easy to understand. You certainly make it simple to locate Services and Software! However, your tabs are oriented a little strangely. Instead of stuffing them in the right corner, I’d like to see them spread out across the top of the page. I’d also like to see those tabs that link to multiple pages–such as About and Blog–utilize drop-down menus instead of the current arrangement.
Â
What would you remove and/or add to the site?
For starters, remember that if you want to sell a web design service, you have to show that you know how to design a fantastic site, including your own! Although I usually recommend that websites keep it simple, this is one instance in which some glitz is really called for. I think you need to pull out all the stops and add some tasteful graphics and animation–really show off your capabilities.
Â
Second, I would remove the big headline that says, “Hello and welcome.” That doesn’t seem very professional. I’d replace that with your Aylis logo (speaking of which, I’d revise that, too, because it looks too much like the Microsoft logo) and a catchy tagline of your choice. Then, I would rewrite your intro because it also seems more conversational than professional. Hint: Get a great copywriter to complement your design and coding staff!
Â
Third, as I’ve stated before, you really need to expand your portfolio. And you shouldn’t hide it behind a small Clients link, either. You should have an actual tab that says “Portfolio” on the homepage or at least a drop-down menu from Services that includes “Portfolio” or “Case Studies.” Similarly, you really need to make a better case in your copy for what you can do for me as a potential client. Again, remember that if you can’t sell me on your own service, I’ll assume you can’t sell my customers on my service. So, for instance, instead of listing the steps of your process under Service, I would rewrite this to highlight how your design will benefit me. What are the advantages to working with you? What can you give me that your competitors can’t? What features can you add to my site and what is the value of those features?
Â
Those are all things I would add. In terms of what I’d remove, let’s start with your eBay software. This is a totally different service, and I think it could be confusing to include it here. I’d suggest starting a different website for that, which it looks like you actually did. It’s okay to include a link to that website, but I don’t think you should advertise it front and center like you do here. Let that be a separate business. The same goes for the mobile app. Let that be advertised as part of your software business rather than as part of your web design and marketing business. The way it is now, I feel sort of like I walked into a shoe store where they also sell jewelry. It’s kind of disorienting and doesn’t seem cohesive. And on the subject of the mobile app, I’d remove that entirely anyway until you have something concrete to say about it. Right now, it’s just taking up space without any real info to generate anticipation.
Â
Another thing I might remove is the Market page. I don’t understand what the purpose of that is. It seems to be just a list of websites. Are these websites you’ve built? If so, you should include links and screenshots. If not, what’s this about? I have the same kind of question about the Nodus Awards. What’s the deal with that? Is that a competition you run? Or are you saying that your firm has won it? I don’t get it.
Â
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have about the design.
In my opinion, the Services section in general just really needs a redesign. First of all, you have four main pages under Services. But if you click on any of these pages and want to keep exploring other services, you need to go back to the homepage and click another link. While it’s fine to have these links on the homepage, you should also have them on the main Service hub page and every other page under Services so that visitors can easily navigate from one to the other. Second, the set-up of the individual pages just needs work. For example, you start each page with a pricing package. But, as a potential client, before I even consider whether I want to pay for this, I want to see what you can do for me. And a few brief steps in your process aren’t what I want to see here. It’s examples of your work. So I’d recommend that each page under Services start out with some persuasive copy and a bunch of clickable screenshots of your work. Then you can move on to detail your work process and show me your rates.
Â
Is it clear what services we provide and who our target audience is?
Somewhat. You provide web logo design, branding, and consultancy as well as what seems to be an eBay store template. To be honest, I’m not really clear on the features and benefits of your TraceBay. You also seem to have a mobile app in the works, but you don’t explain what it is. Your target audience appears to be website owners and eBay users, respectively.
Â
What questions are left unanswered after reading each service?
I guess I answered this above. I don’t have a full picture of the value of TraceBay, nor do I know what mobile app is in the works. In terms of your design and marketing service, I don’t really understand what you can offer me that your competitors can’t. Also, while you make a very good case for using the BigCommerce platform, I think it’s only applicable to web retailers. If my website seeks to establish an online presence for an exclusively offline business or service–like a law firm or a restaurant–or if I’m a pure “infopreneur” who doesn’t sell product at all, I’m left wondering what options you would have for me.
Â
As a small business owner in need of a website, are you inclined to register your interest? Why or why not?
At this point, probably not. I’d want to see more examples of what you’ve done and see some success stories from your clients. (Note: About five minutes after I wrote this, I finally found some more samples of your work, but I had to click the Clients link under Services. I could just as easily have missed this link altogether. Ok, so now I see what you can do for me, but honestly, it looks kind of limited. It really is geared to just one kind of website–the online web retailer.)
Â
On a scale of 1-10. After reading through our services, how confident are you that we’d do a good job?
I would give you a 5, meaning that it seems pretty ambiguous at this point. The samples you have aren’t bad, but, as I said, it seems clear that you only design one very specific kind of site. You do have one example that looks more interesting under Branding, but it’s only one site, so it’s hard for me to get a feel for your range.
Â
Â
Site Design:
Visit https://www.aylis.com. In the first few seconds, what do you think the site is about?
When I looked over the site, it seems that your site is focused on creating web design and software for companies websites.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors?
I’m not really sure who to compare your site to. From what I see of your site, it seems that you want to stand out from the rest. I do think there should be something on the homepage that shows why you are better than your competitors and point out who they are. Mostly because this is a new site, and people aren’t familiar with your company yet.
How easy is the navigation to understand? How could it be clearer?
The navigation is pretty simple to understand, but I find it strange that your tabs are not running across the top, it is different than most other sites. I think it is clear enough to understand how to find questions to your answers.
How well could you read the text? Is the font size and style appropriate?
I think the text style and font is fine that way it is and quite appropriate. Simple to read, and very visible.
What would you remove and/or add to the site?
I wouldn’t remove anything, but I would add some pictures. The site is well designed as far as conveying information about your services, but it is sort of bland, there is nothing besides the bright color here and there that grabs my attention. Perhaps you can add an example of what types of designs you have done or can create for your customers. It could be in a small box at the top of your homepage.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have about the design.
I would change the background color of your site, I think the black is too dark. You could use a dark blue, or a neutral tan, or light gray instead. I would also change the placement of the “Connect with us” section that is at the bottom of the homepage. It should be closer to the top, so that people can see it right away. Where it is now, I think could be viewed as something that was added as an afterthought.
Service Related:
Is it clear what services we provide and who our target audience is?
Yes, I think so. Your target audience would have to be those who use their website for business. It is obvious that your service is to help them make their sites look more professional and help improve their business as a result.
What questions are left unanswered after reading each service?
None, I think the services are explained.
As a small business owner in need of a website, are you inclined to register your interest? Why or why not?
Not at this time, I think you need to get more visibility as a company first and also make a few changes to the view of your homepage. Not many changes, but something to make your site look more appealing and attract customers.
On a scale of 1-10. After reading through our services, how confident are you that we’d do a good job?
I would give you a 6. It seems like you have a good plan of how to proceed with your services, however there is not enough evidence on your website that you can follow through with all your promises. I really think more content needs to be added to prove how good a job you are able to do for your customers. You’re on the right track.
Site Design:
Visit https://www.aylis.com. In the first few seconds, what do you think the site is about? For the first few seconds without reading the description part, i only tot the site is providing services and software. I saw the top right hand side keywords, which state company, service, software and market. so, for my first visit i will base on that four keyword to tot about ur site. What i can see clear is only that four keyword and the pink and green colored title for tje first few seconds i visit the site.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors? I don’t really know which site can i compare to. Maybe u can provide some. I did some google search, and i found a site called finerdesign. so i compared ur site with this. Ur site is more simple, which is good and better for the people easily understand and find out what they looking for. What i like is ur site is straight to the point. Which i dont need to keep searching for few minutes to figure out what is ur site about. Compare to finerdesign, their website is also simple. But ur site is simpler then them which has good and bad. Their website background color is more attractive and can catch some visitor attention. Ur website background color is abit dim which make people feel like is abit boring. U can improve ur background color with white color or lighter color which can attract people interest. Ur site have a customer service which is contact aylis. The contact appear on every category that i click. Which is definitely very convenient for all the visitors. It’s a good way for people to contact u. When people who have interest they can directly send u a msg instead of taking extra step by clicking. Save click save time save customer. ur site also provide a newsletter for visitors. Which is good to keep ur distance closer with the visitors. The finerdesign display their portfolio for the visitors. It’s good to have it so the visitors know ur quality. It also can gain confidence on the visitors. u might can add some.
How easy is the navigation to understand? How could it be clearer?
It is easy to understand because it’s straight to the point unlike some other site which is more complicated and hard to understand. If u want it to be clearer, i might highlight or make the font size bigger for the navigators.
How well could you read the text? Is the font size and style appropriate? For the font size it’s fine. The style it’s fine too. For the color, pink is not suitable. For me Pink is not that attractive. It abit hard to read when the words in highlighted in pink. only the pink. U should highlight each of the sub title under the company, services, software and market category. For example, under the company category, the sub title home, about, contact and blog should highlighted blue instead of only ‘welcome to aylis’ highlighted blue. it is because i almost didn’t really see at the sub title of others category because i tot it’s the same with the company. So u should highlight the sub title.
What would you remove and/or add to the site?
For remove, i dont think there is anything have to remove. But i think u should add some pictures. Pictures of design or a drawing. So that when people first visit in their mind they can easily get to know what ur site about. U can also add portfolio as i mention above. u can add some information about the price and the payment method. People who have interest will automatically look for these. U can make ur service process in a step by step slide show. This can attract more people. Because people just have to watch how it works. It’s convenient. But make it simple. U also can record a video to convince people toward ur services. All these can add it in ur home page so people can direct see it.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have about the design.
U can add a FAQ section in order to let people know that u r professional on it. with the portfolio showing what u have done before, ur contact aylis feature, and the FAQ section it can make people feel more secure and confidence on ur site. If u have a slideshow it looks for professional on it.
Service Related:
Is it clear what services we provide and who our target audience is? Yes, it’s clear. But i think it stiill can be improved. With the suggestion i given. Give a picture which is relevant to ur site under ur site title. Ur target audience is al clear. which is who wanted to build a business website and who has ebay store.
Â
What questions are left unanswered after reading each service? i dont think so.
As a small business owner in need of a website, are you inclined to register your interest? Why or why not?
Yes, the packages is attractive and the price is cheap. Ur service in my view is good enough to start a business. But i may want to see some example of the site u have done. I know u have the example of logos but i feel it’s not enough to convince a visitor.
On a scale of 1-10. After reading through our services, how confident are you that we’d do a good job?
i would give 6. Im not confident enough because the site dont really convince me. u can give more detail with ur works. The average time the project can done. U also can market ur packages. Give some promotion. This can make people feel it’s worth to buy the packages with u.
I’m really impressed with the feedback! Our site will be undergoing some changes and may re-appear on here for more feedback in a month or so!
