About Born To Sell:

Born To Sell is a Silicon Valley based software development firm that creates easy-to-use covered call investment tools and offers a time-saving subscription service that helps you identify/research trades, track your portfolio, and maximize the time premium you collect each month.

We help self-directed investors save time and increase their investment yield. The strategy of ‘covered calls‘ is the most popular options-based strategy, and the most conservative strategy that uses options. It can be used to generate recurring monthly income from stocks and ETFs that investors hold. Why earn 0.5% on cash or 2%/year on bonds when you can earn 1%/month or more by selling call options against stocks and ETFs that you already own? It’s not difficult, and we show you how.

  1. I am not familiar with covered calls. My comments:

    * Does the home page make you want to learn more?
At one point, I was slightly curious about stocks market, however never decided to pursue it. The clean call-to-action on your homepage definitely appeals to my inquisitive self and I am very much inclined to explore further. So, the answer is ‘Yes’.

    * Is the Tutorial clear?
I really like the layout of your detailed tutorial. It seems like you have tried to explain/explore most of the key words/phrases that involve “Covered Calls”. The “highlighted” boxes are great and like your no-nonsense approach to helping others learn this. “Investing in covered calls is not a get-rich-quick strategy…” Also, very helpful were frequent and relevant examples. Well oraganized sub-sections to jump around.

That being said – being new to covered calls world – I do not think I would have the patience to go through all of this at my first attempt. A 2-3 minute video that summarizes the key points regarding covered calls in layman’s terms would be very helpful.

    * Does this sound too scary or intimidating? If so, what would it take to make it more friendly and inviting?
It is not scary, but seems like there is a bit of a learning curve involved – so a bit intimidating. As I mentioned above, some sort of summary/video/slides might be helpful, gradually leading to your more detailed tutorial.

    * Would you sign up for a free trial?
Even though everything seemed great, I am not quite sold. May be I need to spend some more time learning/exploring what you have to offer. But I do feel like for someone who is new to this – I need a bit more convincing. Bottom line – I am very curious/very interested in learning more about covered calls however I am not convinced yet to take out my credit card.

  2. Not being familiar with stock I found your site very interesting. Your in depth explanation made it sound so easy that anyone can do it. Your home page is inviting and makes you want to see more of what is explained about stock. The tutorial is very plain and easy to understand.
It does not sound scary at all, the way you explain it, sounds like someone is in the room explaining it in person. I don’t think you can get more friendly than that.
I would be tempted to at least try the free trial, it is a good offer. All in all I think it is an excellent website for those who know about stock and also for beginners.

  3. Feedback provided based on questions:
I was not familiar with covered calls before looking at your website.

    1) I really like your website, and find it very informational.  Your home page did encourage me to find out more, and to go through your tutorial section.
    2) I think your tutorial section is very straightforward and answers the questions thoroughly.  It points out that this is not a get-rich-quick scheme and that it is an income-oriented approach because options are often held until they are worthless.
    3) Investing in covered-calls does sound like it has risks involved.  To me, I am hesitant to invest in an area that I am not familiar with.  Even an informational website that can define what all of these things mean – do not assure me that I will not lose my investment.  So to answer your question – it is intimidating to someone who has no working knowledge of covered calls.  I don’t know what it would take to make it more friendly and inviting, perhaps offering some incentive or a risk-free period or guarantee that the investor will not lose his/her money.
    4) Will I sign up for a free trial?  As said in #3, I am currently not interested in investing in areas with risk, when I have little money to invest in the first place.  I think this is a good website for those interested in this type of business.  Very informative site with lots of good information!

  4. Does the home page make you want to learn more?  Yes.  I currently do not know much about covered calls or options trading.  I have a small account with Scottrade where not much information is focused on this area.
Is the Tutorial clear?  No.  I found it to be long and confusing at times.
Does this sound too scary or intimidating? If so, what would it take to make it more friendly and inviting?  Yes.  I found it to be intimidating at times.  However I do like how the examples are laid out using an example with ABC stock.  I feel as though if I walked myself through a real example with a real stock and used the information sheets I will understand.
Would you sign up for a free trial?  I will be registering for the free trial later in the week when I discuss with my family my current portfolio options and how I can put it into practice.

    Thanks.

  5. I am not familiar with covered calls:

Does the home page make you want to learn more?

Yes, once I started looking at the site, it made me want to learn more. I don’t know much about the stock market and your site made me want to learn about it. I think the layout was very nice. It looks professional and it gives a lot of information. I think your color choice for the site is very warm and friendly.

    Is the Tutorial clear?

The tutorial answers questions clearly. It is very inviting and provides you with information. You start feeling a trust with the company. I like how it really stresses that it’s not a scam.

Does this sound too scary or intimidating? If so, what would it take to make it more friendly and inviting?

It does not sound scarey at all but I can see it being a little intimidating to people who have never heard of it or done it. It is a lot to take in and to understand. Investing is intimidating to anyone, so I don’t think there is really anything you can do to change that. I don’t think there is anything you can do to make it more friendly and inviting because I feel the site does that.

Would you sign up for a free trial?

No, but only because I don’t have anything to invest. But if I choose to invest in the future, I will keep your company in mind.

  6. I am not familiar with covered calls.

Does the home page make you want to learn more?

Yes, the home page does make me want to learn more. The presentation of the site is easy on the eyes and you have just the right amount of info on the hompage that makes me want to navigate further to find out more about your site and what covered calls are.

    Is the Tutorial clear?

I think the Tutorial is clear. I like how it is broken down into sections and you can navigate using the next button of go to a topic yourself. I also like how you used examples to illustrate the topics you were explaining and defining. I was able to obtain a lot of useful information through the tutorial.

Does this sound too scary or intimidating? If so, what would it take to make it more friendly and inviting?

For me, I don’t know anything about investments, stocks, or anything else of that nature, so it is intimidating for me. Although your site explains it really well, I still don’t understand everything. Maybe having a customer service to help explain or answer any questions would be helpful. Being able to email questions is always useful and puts people at ease. I do like how you have a free trial. That is a good idea.

Would you sign up for a free trial?

I would be willing to sign up for the free trial if I didn’t have to use my credit card right away. I would want to know what I was doing before I jumped right in. Having the two weeks free trial would be a good thing for me to learn a little bit more through trial and error but I would rather not submit my credit card for the free trial.

  7. For those of you not familiar with covered calls:

Does the home page make you want to learn more?
I am not familiar with cover calls and after looking at this website it makes me extremely interested in learning more. It state right in the center of the page that it helps you make more with the stocks you already own or if you’d like to invest in a different stock. Anybody who is Anyone would want to learn more about this conceot if they dont already know.

    Is the Tutorial clear?
The tutorial is very clear in my oppinion. This type of tutorial makes it easier because you can go forward with a next arrow instead of having to watch a video; this way everybody can go through at their own pace.

Does this sound too scary or intimidating? If so, what would it take to make it more friendly and inviting?
It is quite intimidating at first since i am not exactly familiar with the world of stocks. However after after going through everything i learned that it might not be as bad as i thought it had. This website would probably be very useful to a lot of beginners in the world.

Would you sign up for a free trial?
I would sign up for a free trial if i learned a little more about it that way i would be jumping into something blindsinded. If i knew more about it and was confident about what i was doing than i would definately sign up today.

  8. I am little bit familear with the stock.

    About this Tutorial

This Tutorial is very much clear, even for those person who is not aware of the stock at all.but some things should be explained in more detail like the cover calls, write calls against..

This page must be little bright in colour..and the heading should be given like make your investment safe here

  9. 1) Does the home page make you want to learn more?
The home page is definately appealing to me. I really like it. Clear and cleand and I know what I’m supposed to do. The call to action are direct and straight to the point.

I also like the features page. Clear and short setences, easy to read.

I also like that you give a short definition of what a covered call is why is handy for someone that is not familiar with term.

    2) Is the Tutorial clear?
Very clear. The only thing is that it is a lot of information and therefore a bit overwhelming at first. But that’s just necessary if you really want to enter into this world.

Still, for someone that is completey new to trading, even terms like “tradable security” may be scary.

    3) Does this sound too scary or intimidating? If so, what would it take to make it more friendly and inviting?

Maybe you should offer free webminars where someone introduce the newbies to the terms and concepts necessary to be able to use this tool. The personal factor will create trust and a new trader will be more confident with the terms and this particular tool.

    4) Would you sign up for a free trial?
If I had any stock right now, yes, I would give it a try. The only drawback that I see is that you already need to have a brokerage account.
