  1. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
BrainCert homepage looks professional. I like the logo, but the words “education” and “simplified” are in such a small font and in red on a dark background, it is not easily read. These need to be in a font color that stands out on the dark banner and a large font.
The main page scroller seems to have a lot of text, and appears to be somewhat complicated. I think you should present your service in a way that makes it looks simpler for an average ordinary Joe to use.
The one slide that says “Deliver live engaging classes using Virtual Classroom” okay that is a great selling point. Basically all of the text under that will be ignored. You have too much text, period. Make one sentence selling points and no subpoints or sub points. It is overwhelming.
Next slide: “E Learning content in minutes” – the sentence underneath that is too wordy! Take out the extraneous words and leave”Brain Cert makes learning easy.:

Awkward question considering I don’t know what to look for on your website. You tell me what to look for. There is no search button. Just Log in and Register buttons.
    3) Are you encouraged to (create a new account, subscribe, sign up for a free trial, etc.)? Can you tell us why (or why not)?
No. You don’t give a convincing argument that you are simple to use. Your homepage actually makes me think it is complicated.
    4) Go to search engine of your choice and find one other company that offers a similar service. Compare the two companies. Which on do you prefer? Why?
Google. Went to Comptia.com – I think it is a competitor.Their homepage and website seemed to have more information and more text. That isn’t always a good thing. People get lost in all that text. The eyes need a clear direction or path to follow if your site is done correctly so you effectively guide them to a call to action.

New visitors have no idea what SCORM Support, LaTeX Math equations, or Adaptive Test Engine means. Is it really necessary to put complicated technology terms on the homepage?
I would say you have a fairly clean website with little to no errors
It seems like your Vimeo video is the most beneficial to visually tell people how your site works. However, it is possible that a person would or could not see the video if they didn’t catch that slide. I think that video needs to be static on your homepage and not within a scroller.
I also think you need to rewrite the text on your homepage and explain it in simpler terms, as if someone does not understand the technical terms of your services. Some of the text is overkill and the sentences could be make smaller or easier to read in a glance.

  2. 1) Look around the home page- what is your initial impression of what you see?
Brain Cert seems like a good website for both students and tutors. They have links for both students and teachers to click at the bottom of their home page along with an additional link for organizations. I do like the fact that they promised e-learning content in just minutes after you log in or register.
    2) Think of something you want to find on this website. Now try to find it. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing?
I was trying to find the BrainCert Orientation course after clicking the find a course link in the preview tabs. It wasn’t very hard to find at all. In fact, navigating this website is very easy and I would recommend it to anyone trying to expand their knowledge.
    3) Are you encouraged to  (create a new account, subscribe, sign up for a free trial, etc.)? Can you tell us why (or why not)?
Although this may help me gain more knowledge in terms of education, I can’t say that I’m as eager to sign up for any free or low cost courses. It ‘s mainly because the courses that this website has to offer are of no interest to me.
    4) Go to search engine of your choice and find one other company that offers a similar service. Compare the two companies. Which one do you prefer? Why?
The other website I chose was http://www.e-lecta.com. Electa Live seems to have a professional look to its website, which I like. However, I prefer Brain Cert over Electa because I feel it has more to offer than the other site. It seems like on the Electa website, they just offer trial sessions before you pay them full price for their courses.

I really enjoyed visiting the BrainCert.com website and wish the owner nothing but success in obtaining clients, whether they’re students, teachers or organizations.

  3. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
Great first impression as its easy to see where you need to navigate to if you are a student, instructor or organisation. Clean crisp layout that is engaging and informs the reader about what braincert does
    2) Think of something you want to find on this website. Now try to find it. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing?
Yes – I wanted to find out about the courses offered and the cost. It was simple to navigate to through the students option.
    3) Are you encouraged to (create a new account, subscribe, sign up for a free trial, etc.)? Can you tell us why (or why not)?
Yes as there are a wide variety of courses offered and free as well in what appears to be an easy to use online learning platform.
    4) Go to search engine of your choice and find one other company that offers a similar service. Compare the two companies. Which on do you prefer? Why?
    Google – Company 1 – Open Culture
I prefer brain cert as their web page is easier to navigate, there isn’t information overload and the page is visual appealing. Open culture has far too much text on the front page, isn’t visually appealing and uses ads.
    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
I am going to sign up for a course

  4. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
I immediately understood that the site is for online learning and teaching.
The slideshow is really informative and the video is a huge plus as well.  I just wish that there was an option to pause the slideshow and not have it move to the next slide automatically.
The colors and layout is really clean and easy to follow. It gives the site a really professional look and makes me think that it will be easy to use as well.

    2) Think of something you want to find on this website. Now try to find it. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing?
I want to see how it works, like a demonstration or illustration of the teaching process.
I easily found it in the Instructors section. The video is great! It explained the process well and I was able to understand it easily. The rest of the content in the page is also really helpful. I find the information provided easy  to  understand.

    3) Are you encouraged to (create a new account, subscribe, sign up for a free trial, etc.)? Can you tell us why (or why not)?
Yes, I think BrainCert is a great tool for teaching (and learning). I like its features and the interaction it provides between the presenter and student. I think it is an easy way to do tutorials where I can interact with the students.
And after seeing the video demo, I think it is really easy to use and learn to use. I like the simplicity it offers.

    4) Go to search engine of your choice and find one other company that offers a similar service. Compare the two companies. Which on do you prefer? Why?
So I ended up in https://www.wiziq.com/
I couldn’t get their video demo to work but checking the features they offer, it seems similar to BrainCert.
Feature wise, I think I could go with either company, but I like the simplicity of BrainCert more. Price-wise, I think I would go with BrainCert. I think the plans are a lot more accommodating.
    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
    (I’m using Chrome ver. 31)
Under the tutorials section, the buttons “Upload” and “Embed” does nothing when I click on it.
In the Courses page (https://www.braincert.com/courses), the left and right buttons for scrolling through the “Featured Courses” does not work for me.
Going deeper into the pages, I find navigating around the site confusing. Like when I’m in https://www.braincert.com/technology/instructors-teach-online, then I click on a “Read More” button which brings me to say, https://www.braincert.com/bc/classroom-engine, after reading through the page I start getting confused on where I am. I either go to the homepage or hit the Back button. Maybe it would be better if there were navigation links/breadcrumbs available somewhere in the page.
Also the page for the Instructors and Organizations seems to have the same content. Having different URLs but the same content is confusing.
I guess the navigation needs some tweaks but I find the colors and layout of the site clean and simple.
All in all, I think BrainCert is a great site. I think the tool it offers is something students and teachers will find really useful.

  5. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?

The home page looks professional. I like the basic layout that enables the different groups to view additional content from their perspective.

And the video and some of the other information seems to be geared more toward teachers. Being someone who attends online webinars and plans to provide webinars & other online courses starting this year, I’m not certain how this applies to me other than it is supposed to.

What kinds of courses would I find? How does the site make this seem more like a classroom than other sites and why is that good? There was a blackboard on the video? Do I want to replicate a blackboard when there are other more technology adept tools? And how does this apply to an organization, who has no interest in testing the attendees?

I am not saying that your site doesn’t provide these. It is that I’m not getting the significance for attendees/students and organizations.

Also, what is SCORM Support and why should I care?

    2) Think of something you want to find on this website. Now try to find it. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing?

I went into the student section and went to find a course on business. I selected business and intermediate level. But all I got were 4 columns: Our Platform, BrainCert, Resources, Legal. Then, I went into the search field and entered an existing category “Business people networking” and still only saw the four columns.

    3) Are you encouraged to (create a new account, subscribe, sign up for a free trial, etc.)? Can you tell us why (or why not)?

No. You haven’t shown me how BrainCert is of value to me.

    4) Go to search engine of your choice and find one other company that offers a similar service. Compare the two companies. Which one do you prefer? Why?

I found a website called Odijoo. Its information is geared to the creator of the course and not to the student, teacher, and organization. Maybe it is easier to understand because it is speaking to only one audience instead of three.

Like BrainCert, it enables the creation of courses. It also enables the taking of payment from students and the selling of digital versions of the course. The site is free if the trainings are free; payment is 10% of revenues.

I didn’t see anything about testing, which seems to be a major feature of BrainCert.

For my purposes, I prefer Odijoo. I can see what I would get from it if I were to sell my courses through it.

    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

After reviewing the site, maybe I would make a change to the home page. Instead of having 3 slides at the top, I might have only one that included a video. (Sometimes less is more, because it is less confusing and complicated.) This time I would suggest that the video that engage students and business trainers, as well as teachers.

  6. 1) I love the way you have organized the webpage. Colours, images and shapes are well designed and all the things seems to be in the right place. It was really easy to me, to understand the scope of the page and how to navigate on it.
    2) I tried to find a course because I would like to learn some foreign language. It was easy to find the right place and the category. Nevertheless, I was really disappointed when I saw just two different possibilities. I hope you improve this, adding more courses.
    3) If I were interested in learning german, I would sign up in the webpage. The possibility of sign up using facebook or g+ it’s really appreciated by me.
    4) I have googled different e-learning platforms and I have seen that the majority of them use to show several organizations and universities that recommends ’em. For example, I really liked the EDU 2.0 webpage and concept.

    5) I really enjoyed your page. I would try to add more courses and the possibility to have the translation to different languages. Having a (for example) Spanish or German version of the page, it would make your page more interesting.

  7. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
The website seems very professional. The layout seems inviting and interesting. The very first page shows you being active on the social media which is something that i look forward to at this age. You have it all there, the pricing, information, system requirements. All of these are the ingredient for a good homepage. Seeing that you have only two testimonials show that you a relatively new company however i like my website to have  testimonials because it adds interest.
Every time i take a glance it further increases my interest. I would like to say that this homepage being small and brief has been excellently planned and made. Not having advertisements is always a plus.
    2) Think of something you want to find on this website. Now try to find it. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing?
As soon as i had a look at the website i wanted to know how it can help me. So i clicked on the students link to know more. Here as i click on the link i find a page which shows that i am being given a chance to learn online. however, it still doesn’t tell me which course i can pursue. there is another link for that. this is very irritating. no information on the homepage is still ok but after opening a link then also i do not know which courses are being offered. this is something i find really annoying. anyway, i’ll click on the find a course link. Now this is better this is exactly what i was looking for. this links shows me the different courses available and how many learners are currently using the website. i am really impressed and go back and try to look what they have under find a test. this too has a list of tests and information herewith. i am really impressed since the information is brief, clear and helpful.

    3) Are you encouraged to (create a new account, subscribe, sign up for a free trial, etc.)? Can you tell us why (or why not)?
Yes, i am encouraged to create a new account since seems like a very convenient option to learn. the sign up sign shows that it can be completed within 30 seconds which is always encouraging. The tests and the courses offered were interesting a useful to a person like me and hence i would love to sign up and actually learn more. as expected, the sign up option is pretty simple. kudos.
    4) Go to search engine of your choice and find one other company that offers a similar service. Compare the two companies. Which on do you prefer? Why?
ok. i googled LEARNING AND TEACHING ONLINE and i came across this website http://www.wiziq.com.
now in terms of the website design, braincert has an advantage over wiziq. your design is more modern and user friendly. it looks more inviting. however, the stats that wiziq offer gives them an advantage in my eyes since they have over 250000 teachers and over 3.5 million learners using their website. they have unlike you shown their social network support, as in the nmber of likes and the number of tweets etc. i understand that your company is relatively new however it does give your opponents an advantage unfortunately. They have an option for e learning resources which you don’t. i would love it if you could incorporate that. though you gave out the system requirements in your homepage which makes your website more user friendly, they have utiliized the same space to talk about their various offers which are being offered by them. this may also attract more customers for them. see, after clicking on one link i could see three courses that are being offered to students. this was something that your website lacks as i had mentioned earlier.
i would prefer wiziq because of the sheer experience and on it being a relatively old website. it gives me a feeling of being more trustworthy.
    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
in all, although your website is nice with brief information and very user friendly it ultimately has become a little too less informative. since learners and teachers are going to be looking at your website it screams it for more information after one click. i would reduce the font and incorporate more information and offers so as to appeal to the prospective users.
the website as it is, is nice and user friendly but it just looks very new. prospective customers might go for a little more information. the brief overview of the courses being offered must be at a click away too.
i would love to learn something from you people and would like to thank you for giving me an opportunity to review your website.
