  1. Visit https://careernotify.com. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about?

The site is pretty clean, the purpose is clearly stated, the connect option is right out in front, so people know how to set it up.  There might be too many words on the home page.  I understand that you are trying to explain what they site is and what it does, but the 3 points seem a little ‘wordy’.  Maybe try to pair it back, rephrase some items in the 3 points and if the user wants more info, maybe add that to the bottom of the page, or a ‘more info’ link.

Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site.

I think that Facebook should not be your end all be all for this site.  I see that you had various other social media connection tools in the header on the home page when I first opened the site, I wonder what those do?  I cannot get back to that home page now that I am signed in!!??  When I click ‘Home’ from the bottom of the page or on the logo itself, it takes me back to the page where I can click on my FB friends I want to track.  Where did my share options go?  I think connecting with LinkedIn would be much more effective than FB — I know a lot of people (including me) who have FB just for their friends and family, but use LinkedIn exclusively for business.  I would never post anything job or business related on FB.

The process, however, is good.  If I were to use FB as a business tool, the friend capture tool is very similar to other programs, so it is familiar and easy to use.  I like the keywords option.  I assume this would scan incoming FB feeds for these keywords and they forward the name of the person posting it to your email/cell phone.  Very good idea.

What do you find bothersome? What do you like?

I would like to be taken back to the ‘Home’ page that has the social media share tools listed.  I had to open another browser in ‘incognito’ mode (to disable cookies) to see the tools once I was signed in.  That is a definite frustration.

What do you think of the sign up process?

Sign up process was simple and painless.  Very standard!  People know what to expect and that is a good thing.

Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why?

I wouldnt because from what I can see, it only scans FB … and Im on FB all the time, so I dont need a tool to do that.  However, if you opened it up to LinkedIn (the #1 site used by recruiting firms and headhunters) and had the ability to scan everyone in my network (2nd and 3rd connections in addition to 1st connections as well) that would be very useful!!

This is a good concept!  I like the idea, I think it needs a little more tweaking and few more integration’s.  But I can see how this would be useful!

  2. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page.

The home page was pretty straight forward and clear due to the heading “Career Notify”, so initially I thought it would notify me of changes in my contact’s career.
With that said, I thought the graphics were extremely bland, and definitely does not entice me nor excite me. It was more like looking at the face of a 70 year old man. Veeery un-enticing, but yet serious.

Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site.
Sorry but there aren’t any. The only element there is the “Connect with Facebook” option, which is like every other facebook application…just keep pressing ‘next’ till the nightmare is over with. The other options on the top right hand corner is extremely boring and lame. In all it seems as if the site was designed by a bunch of old men, it seems as if not a lot of effort nor creativity was placed in this project.

What do you find bothersome? What do you like?
Absolutely nothing. It’s too boring and bland to find anything bothersome.

What do you think of the sign up process?
The sign up process is like every other sign up process. Just keep pressing yes/”Allow”

Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why?
Hell no. 1st. It’s waaay to boring…it just sucks the life out of me. 2nd. I have absolutely no use for it. 3rd. Even though I don’t have any use for it, it’s still too un-enticing, un-entertaining for me to even consider using it. I mean I don’t have any need to ‘cartoonify’ my friends but I still did it, cas it was dam well entertaining.
