1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
First thing I saw was the “Gain Points and Win” banner. This confused me for a moment on what the site was about. I thought it was a game or betting site but upon reading the banner’s text and scrolling down the page, I finally understood that Chiptong sells biltong.
I feel like the color scheme doesn’t say “Food”. It is cool to the eyes but it doesn’t really say much about the site being a place where you can order biltong. It just seems too formal to me. Maybe colors closer to the logo will be better.
I find the “Gain Points and Win” banner distracting. I feel like it would be better if the Biltong is the highlight of the homepage. Or maybe the banner should at least have a biltong image so it would look a lot more appetizing.

I wanted to see what else can be ordered and easily found the list under the “Biltong” link at the homepage.
The products were listed neatly and it was nice to see a description and rating. It was also easy to see the price and that there were shopping buttons.
I also like that there was an option to list the items in a grid style.
I find it really easy to navigate around the site.
3) Do you find it easy to order or find out how much the product is and the cost of shipping?
Yes! The prices and shopping buttons were already included in the list of items. It makes it easier for me to add them to the cart without having to go to the item’s individual pages.
The shopping cart was easy to access though I wasn’t able to find the cost of the shipping. It says that I should request assistance. I was a bit disappointed since this could be a bit of a hassle. I tried entering a location inside Australia and the shipping options worked fine.
Still, I think the shopping process is pretty easy to follow and not confusing at all.

So I made a search and ended up in http://www.biltongcompany.co.uk
In terms of appearance, I like the overall look of biltongcompany over Chiptong.
Their site looks a lot more like “We sell biltong!” (although I did find some of the font they used a bit difficult to read) and they provided more info about biltong which is nice for people who haven’t tried it.
But in terms of simplicity of the shopping process, I prefer Chiptong. Adding to the cart was easier and navigating around the items was quicker too.
5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
At the homepage, I didn’t easily notice that there were arrows on the “Popular Chiptong” section. I also found myself scrolling through it and I wasn’t sure whether I’ve already reached the end of the list. Maybe adding page numbers or any similar indicator will help.
I find the site a bit too formal. The theme and color scheme doesn’t really give a food/biltong feel to it. Maybe you can try to make it a bit more fun? As of now, the colors aren’t too appetizing.
It wasn’t easy for me to identify that the site sells biltong. Maybe it would be nice too add more images and some facts about biltong. This will attract people more and have them explore more of your products.
The layout is pretty neat and simple. It is easy to navigate around the site and the shopping process is simple.
All in all, the site is good. Perhaps just a few tweaks with the colors/theme and visitors will enjoy your site a lot more.
1. For one i am not familiar with biltong and was looking for a slogan or some sort of clue saying with this item was. i think it should be advertised to look more tasteful. The pictures look quite average. Then i assumed it was beef jerky.Â

2. I was looking for nutritional facts like we have in america or at least the sodium levels, but could not find it. The 100grams is definitely confusing 100grams of what?

3. Easy to order and purchase, but not much thought given in the explanation of the product. Seems like the site is ready to take money with customer satisfaction.

And although the pictures are not their own they also make the biltong look more tasty. I like how your pictures look like you took the time photoshop certain things though.

And could just be a lot more educational so people who aren’t from south Africa can know exactly what the product is with out further learning on a search engine. because if they have to open a new window on their browser just to see what the item is they may even shop at another site

I never heard of biltong and chiptong, but I wanted to learn more from just looking at the pictures! Not knowing anything about it, the pictures at first looked like chocolate bars to me.

The selection, pictures and prices were great, but I couldn’t find anywhere to learn more about what biltong is and also any details about the “points”.

The prices were very easy to read. I loved the way I could put my cursor over my item and see the subtotal. The cost of shipping was easy to see and figure out. I loved the checkout page that was, again, very easy to read and understand! Removing my item was simple to do, too.

Your site was easy to see and read, but after I went to check out, I couldn’t get back to the home page without having to type in chiptong.com again. I loved the twitter notes at the bottom.
As I noted above about not knowing anything about biltong, I am intrigued to learn more about it. So, a more informed site would be very helpful. The site, https://www.thebiltongman.co.uk, has a great F&Q and other information that would helpful to someone like myself. The importance of having enough protein and other health benefits would be nice to know. An athlete or not, biltong is worth knowing more about it.
