  1. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
From entering the site it was in a different language and it was a little hard to figure out where was the button to change the language. The site looks very busy without concrete explantion of what your site is about. It would be really easy for someone to miss your tagline at the top of the page that say easy video creation. Your site is very vibrant but that could also be an disadvantage  because you don’t have a direct focal point.
    2) Think of something you want to find on this website. Now try to find it. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing?
Your website isn’t the “normal” searchable website so my quest was to figure out how your video creation works. I clicked on the vidwo wizard but sadly I was still confused as to how you  create video using your site. I was hopeing that your tabs on the side of the slides on the home page would aslo direct me but I wtill didn’t find much info on them either. I was taken to a vidoeo instead of step by step tutorial in which I was looking for.
    3) Are you encouraged to create an own video-clip? Tell us what is missing from your side? If you experience any problems.
I am not interested in creating my own video clips but I think that you site lacks clear cut direction. I see all this glits and glam on your site but not one single tutorial or video showing me how easy it is to use your site.
    4) Would an upgrade to premium be easy and attractive for you to sign up? Can you tell us why (or why not)?
I dont’ see how your site works so I don’t see the benefit of upgrading.
    5) Go to search engine of your choice and find one other company that offers a similar service. Compare the two companies. Which on do you prefer? Why?
I found a website called Smile Box. The site allows you to create slids and videos with just a free download. The free aspesct of this site allow a large degree of features. They also have an upgraded version that is about 40 usd per year, which is a great price point. The website is crisp and clear to understand and even features an app.

Next to your slides on the homepage the word private as the “E” missing.

First I wanted to look at the price points because one would think this website was free if you see the small tabs at the right of the page. I don’t know the price conversion of euro to usd so I can’t comment on the prices points to much. I think that you should offer another package under the private videos. I think that under the free packages you should at least offer 1 video under the downloads in additional formats so that users will get a feel for how it works before deciding to pay for a package.

Under the features section I see that some of the private use features are under the business plan such as real time editing and show it to others. Users might assume that under the business plan that they don’t have such features so that should be stated that the business has those also if applicable.

I like that you offer sample video but I don’t like having to download the videos under the business section just to look at them.

I think your site needs to tone down the over the top images and make it simple to understand. Your site is so busy I get blind sided by the fact that you don’t give clear explanation of the product your provide. I would like to see a video showing how your site works or even a picture tutorial. If your going to offer the site in english then you should provide usd prices.

  2. 1. My first impression is that ClipGenerator helps people put together videos. The photo slideshow suggests that it can be used for fun or for business purposes. However, I had to scroll down to read the details before I realized that the free version only really works for photo slideshow presentations; to edit live-action footage, you need to pay. It also took me a few minutes to figure out that one of the slides in your slideshow is actually a video. I suggest that you either separate the slideshow and video or, if possible, allow visitors to start the video from any point in the slideshow. As it is now, visitors may never notice the video.

    2. I decided to see if I could find some samples of your video presentations. I easily located these under “Example Videos” in the home page navbar. I first watched one of the videos under “Private Video” and thought it looked great. I was impressed with how much could be done with visual effects and music. Next I tried to a video under “Examples of business solutions,” but I ran into some problems. I tried to watch two different videos, and both of them failed to load correctly. They played in spurts, running for a few seconds, then stopping for a few seconds, then running again. It got too annoying to keep watching, so I had to stop. Strangely enough, even when I closed the videos out, the music kept playing in fits and bursts till I closed the page entirely. (FYI, I’m using Firefox 13 and Windows 7.)

    3. I could definitely see myself using the free tool to create a personal video for fun. I can’t tell you whether I’d use the paid tool to create a business video because I wasn’t able to watch the business videos.

    4. Ah, now I see that even the personal video editor is only free for one video. After that, you want users to pay. I live in the States, so I don’t know how your price in Euros would translate to US dollars, but the fee looks reasonable for a three-video package. The business video fees also seem reasonable for packages of 12 and 50 videos respectively. However, what about small businesses that only want to create two or three videos? Why can’t they buy them piecemeal? Also, what about medium-size businesses that want to create more than 12 videos but a lot less than 50? They’re really stuck! In addition, I notice that you place a subscription time limit on users. I don’t care for that. I think users should be able to either purchase a package of videos or purchase an unlimited subscription for a specified length of time. The way you’re doing it now, some users may end up paying for videos they never get to create because the time limit expires. I don’t think people will be too happy about that!

    5. I searched on “video creator,” and the first result returned was a site called Slideroll. Slideroll has a much more basic design than ClipGenerator does, so it has more of a DIY feel. Its video editor doesn’t seem to be as sophisticated as yours, either. The sample videos reveal a much narrower range of visual effects, and there is no music selection. It also appears that Slideroll only allows users to create photo montage videos, whereas, if I’m not mistaken, ClipGenerator enables live-action footage editing in the business version. Finally, users have to download Slideroll software, but ClipGenerator appears to be a web-based tool. In the end, I definitely prefer ClipGenerator, both for its web site presentation and as a more sophisticated, more accessible video editing tool.

    6. Here are my overall thoughts on your site:

Home Page: Nice bright colors. Slideshow clearly and effectively communicates what ClipGenerator does, as do the selling points on the right. However, it’s too easy to overlook the intro video since it’s just one of the slides. And speaking of the intro video, I wound up having the same problems with it as I had with the sample business videos. Since it wouldn’t load properly, I can’t give you any feedback about it. I like that you can scroll down for more details, neatly laid out in two columns, one for private videos and one for business videos. However, I think it’s rather misleading that you state the private videos are “free of charge.” You can try one free of charge, but that’s it. They’re not free after that.

Video Wizard: I’m not sure why this is off by itself in the upper right corner instead of in the navbar with the other tabs. Also, when I clicked on it, I thought it would allow me to jump right in and create a video. I was surprised to see it really only provided more samples.

Example Videos: Nice selection, but again, I had problems playing the business videos. Also, you have a lot of inconsistent and/or incorrect capitalization on this page. Why “Private Video” but “Examples of business solutions”? Why “commercial Users Webmasters and Web Designers”?

Features: You do a nice job of explaining these. There are a couple of grammatical errors here and there but nothing that affects comprehension. I like that you keep everything above the fold. However, it took a little while to load each link. I wish there was a “See All” option so I wouldn’t have to keeping loading and reloading.

Prices: The price chart has some overlapping text, which makes it a little hard to read in places. Other than that, it’s pretty clearly laid out. I’ve already covered my thoughts on the pricing plans themselves.

I guess that’s about it. It looks like ClipGenerator offers a very nice video editor. However, if I’m not the only one having problems loading some of the videos, then that’s something you really need to fix. People aren’t going to purchase a product they can’t view. Also, as I said before, a number of users may take issue with the time limits imposed on their use of the purchased video credits.

  3. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?

My first impression was theres a lot going on when you first enter. Also I can see some spelling is incorrect at the very top of the page instead of clip generator private you have privat. I think there are a lot of slideshows that no one will probably look at on the front page. Clip generator web service is the best intro to when someone is entering your website. It gives individuals information right away on what the benefits to using Clipgenerator are.
    2) Think of something you want to find on this website. Now try to find it. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing?

I had no problem viewing the example videos, they came up very quick and played smoothly all the way to the end.

    3) Are you encouraged to create an own video-clip? Tell us what is missing from your side? If you experience any problems.

Its a nice web page but it does not seem to give me the WOW. It seems like its just missing a lot of great potential to catch peoples eyes and really want to start creating a video.

    4) Would an upgrade to premium be easy and attractive for you to sign up? Can you tell us why (or why not)?

Being that the website is not really doing much for me. I do not believe I would be interested in signing up at all.

    5) Go to search engine of your choice and find one other company that offers a similar service. Compare the two companies. Which on do you prefer? Why?

I found a website called Stupeflix, its an easy website to navigate through. I love that it has specific sections for what you are needing to find. Easy to understand price, features to add to video and gallery’s. When I was on Clipgenerator, I was confused with were to select the features I wanted on my video theres no clear directions.
    6) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

Make it more simple and do not have everything on one page. Most individuals want to see one specific category on the first page, then a link to other pages they may be interested in looking. Everything crammed up on one page makes it hard for a person to understand what the website is about.
