  1. 1. It seems pretty obvious that this is a site with coupons and discount codes. The intro text makes that apparent immediately, and visitors can see the coupons above the fold.

    2. I decided to search for coupons from specific retailers to test the range of discounts you offer. First, I searched for coupons from two online sites, one a huge retailer and one a specialized site that’s pretty popular in its niche. You had coupons for the huge retailer but not for the niche site. Next, I searched for coupons from three department stores, one a giant and two with somewhat smaller geographical range. You had coupons for the giant but not for the slightly smaller stores. Finally, I searched for coupons from an electronics company, Apple. This returned a number of appropriate results but also a bunch of inappropriate results for Applebees, Appleseeds, etc. When I tried containing “Apple” in quotes to narrow the results, it had no effect.

    3. Not really. There are already a couple of coupon aggregators that i use on a regular basis and am pleased with.

    4. I don’t even need to go to a search engine to tell you that one of your major competitors is RetailMeNot. I love RetailMeNot. It pretty much meets all my needs for a coupon aggregator.

    5. I do like your home page. It gets right to the point–no guesswork involved about what your site does. That stands in contrast to its name, Coupons University, which threw me at first. The use of the word “university” suggests something related to education, so I was a little surprised when it turned out to be just another coupon aggregator.

The search process on your site is simple, but the results could be better. Right now it seems like you only list the very biggest corporations, but there are a lot of slightly smaller competitors that are still quite popular. For instance, one of the stores I searched on and got no results for was Target. Target probably isn’t as established as, say, Macy’s, but it definitely has a big customer base. In addition, I think you need to include a way for users to narrow searches. I should be able to put a search term in quotes and get only results related to that term. For example, when I wanted to find coupons for Apple products, it was annoying to have to search through Appleseeds and Applebees. Notice that if you put a search term in quotes on RetailMeNot, you get only results related to that term.

Finally, I almost overlooked your Website Search box in the right margin and so didn’t realize at first that I could search by product category. Even if this box had been more prominently displayed, I think it would’ve taken me a few minutes to understand that I could search by categories on your site as well as by store or brand name. Notice how RetailMeNot features “Top Categories” at the bottom of their home page. I suggest you do something similar.

In conclusion, your site is easy to navigate and has a decent, though not excellent, selection of coupons. However, the search feature needs to be perfected, and I wonder what you offer that your competitors don’t.

The page seems kind of boring kind of dull, I think it has to do with the colors. Also you basically jump right into the coupons.

I first looked at Best buy, which brought up a lot of results.  I looked at the different stores you had listed and was surprised you did not have Nike. I was even more shocked to realize you have AT&T but not Verizon.
    3) Are you encouraged to (create a new account, subscribe, sign up for a free trial, etc.)? Can you tell us why (or why not)?
No, I would not create an account. Its to boring as well not enough of the stores individuals really shop at. I do a lot of coupon shopping and searching wether groceries or just great deals in general.
    4) Go to search engine of your choice and find one other company that offers a similar service. Compare the two companies. Which on do you prefer? Why?
Couponcabin.com, Retailmenot.com and mycoupons.com, all of these places have a variety of coupons. Its so easy to find what you are looking for instead of only having a list of all the stores or a search engine.

Make it more interesting, I would change the colors because it is way to dull. Also make it more welcoming of a page, it screams find whatever you want and leave. You need a broader variety of stores as well as a different way to group the stores you have. Scrolling down the page to locate the store is aggravating. If your looking for a store that starts with an E, you should be able to click at the top the letter E and it take you directly to that specific section. I also do not like the website search, scrolling all the way down the list of categories is way to much. I
