The Homepage is eyecatching, a bit hard to read with the grey back drop and teal font, tho I love the color. I was drawn to sign up out of curiosity. Thought organization might be a key aspect.

Signed Up and Logged In. I read the Pop Up intro, flipped thru the different links to see more or less what the site had going on. When logging in there should be a clear explanation letting you know the purpose of the site. Not as organized as I had expected.
Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
I had no idea what to do with channels. I clicked what I was into and what I wasn’t interested in.

Ok. Make a post. Done and done. Made one under status.

Not exactly sure what I could possibly use this site for. Maybe there needs to be some kind of incentive to join.

My first impression is that the site looks too busy. I do not like the background image – it’s not very comfortable to look at for the eyes (especially those small squares are very bothering). Other than that – you have a very clean front page – which is good. Also, the background image and the text color do not contrast – for example – it is rather difficult to read the text “Beyond Status Updates…”. One more suggestion, you have a lot of ‘wasted’ space on the prime area of the home page (above the fold). For example, you could elimiate the wasted space on very top and move your logo and sign in boxes to the top. Also the video, sign up boxes etc are much further down with wasted space between the logo and the video/signup area. Since sign up is your main focus, you should move it up. I am checking out your site from a laptop and the signup now, it’s free button is not even visible. Therefore, I was not inclined to sign up. If the site was developed in a larger monitor, you might want to test it and see how it looks in different sizes, especially given that many people will access your site from laptops, ipads etc. that have smaller screens. Â
Compare this page:Â https://crowdplace.com/login/ (much better)Â to your homepage. Â
Love the video. Short, sweet – gets the point across!

Sign up process was pretty standard/straightforward. However, I do not like the fact that after signing up, I have to go to my email account and come back. If I had reluctantly signed up to give you benefit of doubt, you will lose me after sending me to my email box. This practice is very discouraged and I encourage you to choose other on-site verification methods. Â Also, I suggest including a “Forgot your password?” link.
Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
Channels seem like categories of interests. It appears that it lets me add interests to my favorites list. It took me a while to fully understand what they do or how they work. So, a little help icon or tutorial saying  “What are channels?” or “How channels work?” might be of tremendous help.Â
By the way, I really like the clean-clutterfree presentation of everything once I am logged inside.Â

How useful is this site?
I love the “wishlist feature. I was able to browse some links posted, some comments here and there. But I see that in Facebook more than I need to and also exists whereever I go online.
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?
You already have a lot of useful features. I do not think the success of a site depends on the myriad of features it offers – but rather – how the site helps ‘me’. Why the site exists and what is in it for me? The trouble I have with Crowdplace is figuring out – what exactly is your value proposition? It’s not clear to me – so I am sure it’s not clear to many others. Educating others about that and conveying it in a more clear-cut straightforward fashion would help users like me ‘stick’ to CrowdPlace more.
I hope the feedback was helpful and look forward to CrowdPlace’s success. All the best.

What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to sign up? Why or why not?
The home page does not give me any real insight into what your company does or what service you provide. The picture is vague at best.

It appears to be another form of social networking complete with tracking devices. If so….NOT COOL.

Not very useful to me. I am sure those more interested in social networking for career or business may find it helpful.
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?
I use social networking to connect with family and friends. This seems like it is missing any real connections.

What do I see? Will it’s like facebook, but better. you can even post things like thing’s about computers, and other things that facebook could not do. I signed up and tried it out. I like it!

Visit https://CrowdPlace.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to sign up? Why or why not?
My first impression was it is something like a social network site. When i see the video I know that I can customize things inside maybe informations, feed, or any posts. I’m not immediately drawn to sign up because I don’t really know what the site is. First, If I didnt play the video, i really do not know what the site is about. After i watch it, i still have some question in mind, such as what is the feature and benefits of this site. When i click on the Why would you use crowdplace, after i read it, I just understand what the is about. The process for a visitor to understand and straight away get what the site is about in just a seconds view is very important. Too much click visitor to search for the information about the site will lead the visitor leave the site. Your homepage is simple which I like it, but I suggest you should add some clear stated information about your site in the homepage, such as a short description. The video music sounds good, but the content is not clear enough. I like that the video is short, but the point that the video want to show is not clear. You can improve it for a better understanding for the visitors.
Sign up for an account and log in. What do you think about what you see? Use the pop up intro as needed and close when you are done.
The sign up process is easy and simple. What I first see is ask about tweeting i have joined the crowdplace, i skipped into the channels page, I understand that I can tick anything that im interested on. Above the CheckBox, the title such as mute ? Favorite ? you added the question mark behind it, I feel it’s weird and i dont think you need that question mark. I do not have much comment on others because i feel it’s fine. I can post a comment, update my profile, check for my connection, whose i followed or whose’s my follower. I like that in the home page i can click for specific interest or post that I want to know such as programming i can check for only posts that is about programming.
Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
As i mentioned above, it is something for the user to check the category that they interested and would like to hear from it.

Done. It was easy and simple.
How useful is this site?
For me, it is something like Facebook, but it is more organized, which it’s suitable for businessman. I can see that people can easily find the posts that they would like to know about and avoiding irrelevance posts.
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?
Overall, it is useful but the background colour is not that attractive. You can improve your layout design for a more attractive interface. The feature of your site is useful but most of it can done in Facebook. What is special for your site is that it is more informative than others sites. Because it is more on knowledge base, such as people can share their knowledge in their expert. People also can found useful information from it. I would intro this site to my friend because I think it can be useful for others.

Visit https://CrowdPlace.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to sign up? Why or why not?
Honestly I was not drawn to sign up immediately because I wasn’t sure exactly what the site was about or offering and what benefit it would be to me. Â Also on my screen resolution (1366 x 768 pixels) the whole page didn’t display so I didn’t immediately see the “Why would you use CrowdPlace?” link – perhaps there could be less open space between the sign in header section and the rest of the page? Â Â
I watched the video which I thought was pretty cool – ordinarily I probably wouldn’t watch the video as I prefer to get a general idea of what a site is about on the home page without having to watch a video or click to another page.
I then clicked the “Why would you use CrowdPlace?” link and that page gave me the info which I would have liked to have seen on the main home page. Â
Sign up for an account and log in. What do you think about what you see? Use the pop up intro as needed and close when you are done.
Signup was pretty straight forward and simple. Â The first page I see asks whether I would like to send tweets from my CrowdPlace. Â I clicked “No thanks” and moved straight to my account. Â I liked the popup which appeared next giving a little more information on how to use the site.
Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
I think channels are used to select the topics you are interested in. Â At first I couldn’t figure out why there where question marks after each heading title. Â I also thought that the headings could use a little more information on what they do. Â After fiddling around for a while I realized that when you move the mouse over the question mark it gives a brief explanation of the heading. Â However when you move the mouse over the actual header title nothing appears. Â Personally I would have preferred the explanation to appear as you move over the header title instead of the question mark. Â I would remove the question mark altogether as initially it looks like some type of typo. Â It might also be helpful to place a very brief explanation on what the channel page does just under the heading so that there isn’t any confusion as to what the user needs to do or what they can expect once they select something.
Make a post.
From the Channel page I couldn’t see a link that would take me to the page where I could make a post. I then clicked on the “Home” tab and it told me that I needed to select at least one channel which I went back and did. Â I then was able to add a post which was very straight forward and easy.
How useful is this site?
I think this site could be really useful to people who love social sharing and bookmarking sites. Â I think that perhaps more information should be added to the site (possible an FAQ) giving further explanation on how the site works, what it does and why you should use it. Â I think a lot is assumed on the site without explanation someone who doesn’t have an understanding of what the site is offering would be a little lost and move on.
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?
As above, I think more time needs to be spent on explanation and selling so that new users don’t feel lost. Â Once people are established and using the site on a regular basis perhaps an “invite a friend” app could be added so that people can get friends and colleagues to join so that the network can grow quickly. Â Â
After spending a bit of time playing around on the site I noticed the support link at the bottom of the page. Â When I opened the link it took me to all the information which I thought was missing. Â This section of the site is great and I would seriously consider including it when a user logs in for the first time. Â I would also add the link to a more prominent position on the page so that if someone gets stuck they can get the help that they need. Â The other thing that I liked about the support section is that it explains what the site offers really well and I would include some of that information when a user gets to the site for the first time. Â I think this would encourage many more people to sign up.
I really like the look and feel of the support section a whole lot more than the user section!
Visit https://CrowdPlace.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to sign up? Why or why not?
I was very interested in this site and in entering my information. I was immediately drawn to the site because it seemed like I could get my everyday information organized as I am on the web contantly looking for information. I liked the site’s tag line: Beyond the status update and the sites focus in their video which stressed: Customize the topics I care about.

Unfortunately, I was unable to log into this site and create an account. I tried to enter my information for the site: CrowdPlace and was unable to receive my contact information from the site; I received the noteice that I can log in however was unable to log into the site. I really wanted to provide my feedback however I did not continue because I was unable to properly sign in. I tried to log in using different a log-in name; the site stated there was already a long in name and I was unable to continue. I reached out to startuplift.com for some assistance/document this as an issue.

I really like the video; it’s short and explains what the site is about really well and pretty fast too. I’m always in a hurry so when I see a site that’s not going to waste my time with dragged out videos or extremely long details using paragraphs that seem to go no where, I usually stick around. Sometimes I bookmark it and register at a later date.
I also like the picture of all the people rushing around, all going and doing their own thing together. Sums up the site very nice.

Â
Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
The channels seem to be pages. I thought it was would be like a file cabinet and that I could create my own files and add them and delete some of the files that are there that I don’t want. I don’t understand why when I click on the channels it automatically marks them as a favorite.

Â
How useful is this site?
Not very. It looks like just another online forum/bulletin board with links copied from other places. Not much new or original content.
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?
Well I don’t see any reply posts (other than my own) so I’m assuming this is a pretty new site. There’s needs to be interaction on the site for me to continue to visit. Right now it seems to be just a bunch of links to articles from other sites.
Â
The video said “need to find old posts” and I thought that meant this was a storage site, where I could ‘put’ posts that I thought I might need in the future. I think that sentance is misleading.
Â
Visit https://CrowdPlace.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to sign up? Why or why not?
The mention on the home page of status updates gives me the impression that this site has something to do with social networking. The video’s mention of140 characters gives the impression that this is similar to Twitter, but with more organization.
Although the video is very brief, it does an excellent job of selling a couple of the features of the site. Top marketers state that people do not buy features, they buy benefits. One such expert, co-founder of the Home Shopping Network, Bob Circosta, is know as the “Billion Dollar Man†because he has sold $5 billion worth of product on the air, uses a term WSGAT (pronounced Wisgat), which stands for “What’s so good about that?†What’s so good about having more than 140 characters? What’s so good about being able to organize updates?
My question would be: While, I do like the ability to organize posts, why should I join yet another networking group? If I wanted to organize my posts on FaceBook, I could create notes or send myself messages or copy and store the posts in Word or just keep clicking on “Older Posts.â€

Signing up was easy. The activation email arrived very quickly. There was an error when I entered my login and password, however, my account did activate.
Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
I really like the variety of channels. This site is obviously for people with a large variety of interests and is definitely usable for social marketing. It is good that you have a channel marked all, for those times when a person wants to see everything that is available.
However, the way the channels are organized is not necessarily intuitive. For instance, it took a bit for me to realize that the way for me to see other posts was to scroll down.
My preference would be to have a visible list of all my channels.
Make a post.
Making a post was easy. Using the embed code was easy.
Suggestion: It would be helpful if there were an “*†indicating which fields are required. The reason this came up is almost everyone is posting a url link, which made me wonder if it is necessary to do so. Since I posted a video with an embed code rather than a url, apparently a url is not required.
Question: Your video seems to indicate that once a post is made it can be found again at any time. Therefore, once I make a post, how do I find it again months from now? Once there are thousands of people on the site, posts in different categories are going to scroll by very quickly. The same is true of tags. So I don’t see why it is easier for me to find specific quotes.
How useful is this site?
This site could be helpful. The channels appear to be somewhat like groups, but broad categories. Of course, Twitter does have lists, so pages which specialize in different subject areas can be listed. And I can always search for various hashtags. But there isn’t a steady stream of “channels†in quite the same way. And there isn’t the ability to include as many tags.
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?
“Help†or “FAQs†would be nice.
Right now the channels are broad. Business is one that I selected. And there is business in all parts of the country and world. There are different kinds of businesses. What if people had the ability to create channels, just like they could create groups or fan pages that could provide for more specialization of the channels?
And or what if people were able to comment directly on to posts. This is something that doesn’t happen on Twitter. Discussions are disjointed for everyone except those actually participating in the discussion. Yet, replies are one of the best features of Twitter. It enables people to make real connections. But it doesn’t enable a group of people to have real conversations. CrowdPlace could.
Â
Visit https://CrowdPlace.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to sign up? Why or why not?
My initial impression, from the domain name and the photo background is that this is a crowdsourcing website, simlar to crowdflower.com
I’m not especially drawn to sign up, mostly as I don’t know what it is based on the homepage ‘We let you save your favorite content into a customized stream of useful information.‘ and that makes me wonder what kind of content you are talking about? perhaps including a hint in brackets like this would work: ‘We let you save your favorite content (Tweets, Status Updates, Blog posts) into a customized stream of useful information.’
The pretty basic design would put me off a little too. I think people have very high standards when it comes to services that deal with Facebook, Twitter etc. They expect a very polished product.
Â
Sign up for an account and log in. What do you think about what you see? Use the pop up intro as needed and close when you are done.
Sign up is very quick by the way, well done. One thing I learned at our startup is sometimes people don’t get the confirmation, so maybe you could add a ‘Resend confirmation’ link to the page that says this: “Thanks. We’ve sent an email to the address you provided.” When I activate it, I get sent to a sparse page with a very random ‘copyright’ down at the bottom right. I think a year needs to be added there – ‘copyright 2012’ or something.
The Popup looks good and is well written but to be honest I still don’t know what CrowdPlace is? sorry
Overall I think the look is way too dark, too much black. I can’t think of a single website that’s mostly black, can you?
Â
Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
I don’t know. I think you need some tough love – there’s way too much stuff going on on this Channels page and I don’t know what the Channels are. I recommend you make a graphic to represent what is going on here. A graphic will liven things up a bit.
Make a post.
Posting is easy although i don’t know where its going to post to. The tagging works very well by the way. I could tick a box and ‘post to twitter’. But I havn’t hooked up Twitter yet, It probably should ask me to add that first.
How useful is this site?
To be cruel, I just don’t see the use right now. In fact I still don’t understand what’s going on and I am no internet newbie 🙂
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?
A better explanation of what is going on here. Is it a new social network? or a way to post to mutliple social networks, like http://www.BufferApp.com ? or something like Evernote for your social network & reading content?
Other notes
The homepage took a long time to load as Youtube/Twitter are blocked in my office.
Visit https://CrowdPlace.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to sign up? Why or why not?
I really like idea of the look of the website in terms of the website names but there is something about the site that doesn’t quite grab me. The background, although relevant, seems to overcrowd the text on the site. Visually my eyes seems to be fighting for a place to focus on. Just from simply looking at the homepage without watching the video I am not immediatly drawn to sign up for your site. It doesn’t really give me alot of information and that being said my answer might change after watching the video. I would not rely solely on drawing people in from a video, it should just be an enhancer from the information that the site is already giving. Now I have watched the video and I was surprised to see the time on the vodeo was so short. I wanted to see some of the site in action. All of the text on the video could have simply been put on the homepage instead of a quick video. With a sight like yours, at times, it’s not enough to just say what you can do the proof is in the pudding. You want people to sign up without giving them much to grab hold of. Based on what I have seen just from the homepage and the video I am not immediately drawn in to sign up for your site.
The Blue text on your site, although pretty in color, is visually drowned out by the rest of the site making it hard to see. I also see that you have the question, “Why would you use crowd place?” I like that you have that but I much rather have that information right on the homepage. Once clicking on the text is was really hard to focus on the information at hand. Again your bachground is like a visual battlefield. Since this is the “selling” point on your site it’s hard because you can’t even read the text. I must say I didn’t even try to read the text.
Side note: After the video is done you can see other videos posted from Youtube which is sort of distracting becuase it might have an adverse effect by making people want to click on something they see and move off of your site. I say that because that’s what happened to me.
Sign up for an account and log in. What do you think about what you see? Use the pop up intro as needed and close when you are done.
The initial signing up was very easy to activate and immediatly go to your account. On the other hand I feel like I have no idea on how to use your site and or what it will do for me.
Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
The channels seem to be different streaming topics that your site has to offer. I assume that you can pick the ones you like by clicking on them and that will allow you to follow all information related to that channel. The text box in and of itself is very confusing and visually not user friendly. Who picks the channels? Can you add channels? The favorite tab box runs over into the information next to it. There needs to be boundaries in the text and space miniizing the possiblity of checking a channel you don’t want.
Make a post.
Making a post was simple enought once I figured out how to do so. The text in the box is so tight on the left side that it looks like its almost cut off.
How useful is this site?
I have no idea how this site is useful. I don’t even understand how to use the site. The channels titles are ones that I don’t like. I don’t understand how quite a few of the post have link attached to them and then once clicked on it takes me to another site.
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?
Being that I don’t quite understand this site it makes it hard for to comment on what’s missing. It seems that when you sign up for the site your following everyone, is that correct? If I see a post I like how can I just add a comment to the post? How do you not follow someone. It seems like your site is a mini twitter but I don’t understand following on your site then following on twitter. I need some major clarity on your site.
I would like to see a different background color. I feel it goes from one extreme to another. The first background was extremely busy then it’s pitch black. It doesn’t seem very welcoming and friendly. I would like to see a help box. You made mention of a pop up intro box but once I clicked off it intitially I did’t see it anymore.
Please revamp and bring it back to us again!
• Visit https://CrowdPlace.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to sign up? Why or why not?
The background picture and the name goes well together. However my first impression was not good. I felt confused of what exactly crowdplace is and why to have it. The street picture make me feel rushed to get somewhere and does not attract me. it feels too busy. Only when I followed the link that says “Why would you use crowdplace?” did things became more clear. After a better understanding of what exactly the website is about I could see if I would use it. I did not want to sign up because it looked like too much work to organize everything into categories. Also I have google favorites, a YouTube channel with playlists and for whatever facebook does not offer I guess is time consuming and not always necessary.
Sign up for an account and log in. What do you think about what you see? Use the pop up intro as needed and close when you are done.
The Sign up was easy and straight forward, however once I opened my account it did not feel like it was mine cause none of the information they have is relevant to me. I felt it is a functional website and does not have too many problems but in my account they lost my interest cause most if the info they give is none of who I am. Also the post section looks too much like facebook.
Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
Looks like place where you organize all that you like and would like to know more about. Still feel all the channels are pre chosen and does represent each individual. Suggest first time users to let them choose what they would like to see and start their own list.
Make a post.
How useful is this site?
Still unclear why I should use it. All is working well. Layout is simplistic. Can be handy but it still feel the website is too long before the owner gets value. Would suggest testimonies of people who gets value out of the site and they should give their reasons why it is a great site to use.
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?
I feel with the staring process being too simple. One should be able for the minute go to have a complete profile of topics and not what the website automatically generates. That would give you the sense that all you like is at one place. Guess the site are designed to do just that but people are generally lazy and do not want to take time to organize their interests. That is why the sing up page should have more options to get all the right info. If I know with the click of a button all social media sites would all get my message I would be more interested.
Â
Visit https://CrowdPlace.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to sign up? Why or why not?
I really like idea and look of the website in terms of the dark colors it really adds a nice modern look and feel to the site. I will agree with one of the commenters of above about the background overcrowding the text of the site. I feel that The background, although relevant, seems to overcrowd the text on the site. Just from simply looking at the homepage I would sign up for the site based off of the unique look and style of the page. The colors make it seem mysterious yet intriguing. However I think you should definitly add more detailed descrition about the site. It doesn’t give alot of information in regards to the capabillities of the site. If you give users a more clear description of what you guys are all about if could possibly reel in more users to your site. Now I am really feeling the video loved that you used a alternative way to discuss the project however I feel the video could have been a little longer. It would have been nice to have seen a few of the capablitilies of the site in the video to give people a better picture of how to use the site. Overall I would sign up to the site by looking at the front page. The background and outline of the website is definitely interesting enough to reel people in. However You should take measures to keep people interested in the website after initial viewing. Add more descriptions and videos of the website in use to give people a more visual of how great your website can be. 4stars****out of 5

The sign up for your site is very easy to use and activate very simple a monkey could do it. I will give you guys an A for excellence. 5stars*****
Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
The channels seem to be different topics that people can choose from and add content for the corresponding topic. I like that you have a variety of topics for people, however I can’t recall seeing a button to add topics. Giving users the ability to add a topic would greatly enhanced the channel tab and would encourage more interaction with the content. Posting content seems easy enough and I like how people can coment on the status of your content . Allowing comments gives it a very social vibe that has been popularized but giants such as Facebook and Twitter. I would give you 4stars**** out of 5.
Make a post.
Making a post was very simple enough and anyone with even minimum compter experience could do it. However you should do something about the text it soemtimes appears as it is cut on the left side. 4stars**** out of 5
How useful is this site?
It would be very useful I think if it gains the same appeal as tumblr in which people post content and broacast to everyone in their social network. This site could phave the same potential as facebook with is social networking capabilities. I look forward to seeing more of this site in the long run. Very orginal idea with a unique twist. I give you guys 5stars*****.
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?
I would say the only thing that is missing is a way to connect your social accounts(Facebook, twitter, etc) to the site. This would be a great way for people to introduce their friends, family, and everyone in their network. People could post a link on their Facebook page and when people click on it it brings them to your site. This could help spread the word for your site and help people see the great idea you guys have. Take advantage of the social market of the internet.

Visit https://CrowdPlace.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to sign up? Why or why not?
My initial impression is that it may be a social networking site based on the caption “Beyond the Status Update.†This site does not make me want to sign up immediately since I am not sure how it benefits me. It does not sell me on using it because it is not clear what it is. Perhaps some of the unused space could be used to provide more info about this site. Also, the font does not stand out clearly against the background.

I wish the site was more organized and a FAQ would be helpful.

Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
I like how I have full control over what will be in my feed. I have been wanting Facebook to have an option where I can control my feed better, instead of having everything mixed together.
Make a post.
Posting is easy and to the point.
How useful is this site?
I could see where this site could be very useful and I can see myself coming back to it. There is so much information that is easily assessable.
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?

The website was really easy to read and understand. Don’t like the color scheme too much.

I signed up for an account and kind of got confused. I wish there was a place for FAQ to help me because I was really confused about things.
Once you are fully in the site, click on Channels. What do you think they are?
This site is real easy on controlling post where Facebook everybody’s post is shown and that can be kind of confusing. This site is easy to post like Myspace used to be.
Make a post.
Posting is real simple.
How useful is this site?
This site is useful and I would be coming back to it. But with all things the excitement will wear away after awhile.
What features are missing that would make you want to use the site on a regular basis?
I like the features that it has right now I wouldn’t add anything to it.
