Note to Feedback Providers:
Please note that startups are looking for in-depth feedback that gives them thorough, insightful and actionable input. A ‘superficial’ submission that does not add value, is not thorough (i.e. written in a hurry, with poor grammar, punctuation etc.) and does not offer any constructive feedback is not particularly helpful and will therefore be rejected.

  1. 1) Look around the home page for about 5 seconds and answer the following two questions:
    (a) What is the site about?  It appears to be a website for people that would rather not receive a greeting card for their special occasion, but would rather the person giving the gift “save money” and offer something else that would actually be appreciated for the same price.
    (b) Is it clear what is in it for you? In other words, as a visitor what do you “get”? As a visitor I would receive a gift that I actually want instead of the cliché card that gets thrown in the trash the same day.

    2) Now go back to the site and look around for about 30 seconds. What is your initial impression of what you see? My initial impression is that this idea is a good one! The page layout has a pop of color that makes it look very nice . I like that the layout and text on the page isn’t so busy that it looks as if it’s trying to attract three-year-olds. It’s neat and very to the point. It makes me want to learn more. My next thought was that it obviously has a customer base, so I’d feel much more comfortable giving this idea a shot. I clicked on one of the testimonials to see if it would show me the entire text, but it led me to a sign in page with the option to join through Facebook for added convenience……somehow that also made me feel like I was looking at a legitimate company.
    3) What is the very first thing you feel encouraged to click? Can you explain why? The first thing I wanted to (and did) click on was one of the testimonials. I was just honestly curious to see what someone else had to say about the website since I’ve never heard of anything like this before. And once it took me to the sign in page I actually thought about signing up. I wouldn’t change anything about the way you have offered a “sneak peak” at one of your members ‘recent occasions’. I like how that was done because it made me even more curious to see what the site has to offer without making me feel like I was getting the run around.
    4) Do you feel encouraged to click the “Sign Up” button in the middle of the homepage? Why or why not? When I first looked at the home page for this website I was very intrigued with what it had to offer, but that alone did not make me want to click on the sign up button.
When I first read this question (Do you feel encouraged to click “sign up”) I actually thought I had been looking at the wrong page because the button says “Create Page” – not “Sign Up”. So, I clicked on “how it works” and found a page with a video of what your site is about and a helpful breakdown of how it all works. Then I saw the sentence, “Dave got an extra £58 for his birthday”. If that statement had been made on the home page – with perhaps a link right underneath that statement saying something like “see how he and many others are getting gifts that count” leading to your “How It Works” page – I believe that would have made me more compelled to sign up. Because if I had just found this website during a regular web surfing session the home page as it is would not have grabbed my hand and made me sign up. But a compelling statement that immediately states what could be “in it for me” (or, even better, a statement that averages how much people usually get after joining?) using catches my interest long enough for me to at least enter my email address.
I personally prefer to get as much information on a website as I can in the first page before I click on the next. So your entry page AND your How It Works page should probably work together to make more people feel comfortable with handing over their information and signing up.
    5) By now have you figured out what the site does? If you have, what exactly was it that helped you understand? (An image? A video? A block of text? ) The homepage did a great job of explaining the purpose of the website – and I’m actually amazed because it didn’t get to a point where it was too wordy or anything like that at all. It was straight, sweet, and to the point and I appreciated that.
    6) Please share any additional feedback you may have. I do think that though the site has a nice color scheme and is very uncluttered (a plus) it would be nice to see something done with the extra white space on the sides of the home page. Maybe some sign of user engagement or a few pictures of what people have received in place of a greeting card might  add that extra “umph” and encourage a sign up.

  2. 1a. On first look the site is about getting a gift instead of a card from loved ones for the same price a card would have cost.
1b. It wasn’t clear for me initially as I had to go through the page a couple of times to “get it”.
    2. After a longer look at the site, my impression of the homepage is not so good. It looks very very basic which gives me the impression the site was done in a hurry and not much work was put into it.
    3. The first thing I was encouraged to click was “How It Works”. This is because I didn’t feel I got enough information about the site from the homepage so I needed a lot more information and details on how the site functions.
    4. I don’t really feel encouraged to sign up as the site doesn’t look professional and hence that makes it less trustworthy for me.
    5. The video on the How It Works page was very helpful to me in terms of understanding the site a lot more. The 5 simple steps listed on that page along with the supporting pictures also helped.
    6. The site has a potential to do well but just needs some more designing especially on the homepage which feels very empty, unattractive and not very informative.

  3. 1.  a – The site offers you to request money instead of gift cards and the postage it would cost to send them.  I found the site to be very self explanatory.
b – What you get is the money instead of a gift card or postage.  The person can contribute whatever amount they would like.
    2.  My initial impression of the site is great.  I like the fact that others cannot see what anyone else has given you, but you are able to see who gives you what gift.  Also, if you would like you can state what you would be using the money for and in many cases I feel the people gifting would probably see some very beneficial things that people could use this money for instead of cards.
     3.  I would click the FAQ section because that is what I ordinarily do.  I feel that FAQs usually answer more questions for me than the site even explains because people usually think of even more things than advertisers deliver.
    4.  I would definitely sign up because I feel cards can be such a waste of time, especially with the cost of postage these days and cards, nice ones, cost quite a bit of money.  Given the amount of people that send me birthday cards and Christmas cards for example would add up quickly.  I also like that there is no fee to sign up, it is free.
    5.  The section that I felt was most informative was how it works but the title states it all and then the three photos that state, don’t send me a card, receive contributions and then the third step is spend it on something good.
    6.  With the price of medicines for older people and just living expenses for all ages these days I feel this site is a wonderful idea.  I would definitely take advantage of this and I feel many others would also.  Overall, this is a fresh and useful site.

    1) Look around the home page for about 5 seconds and answer the following two questions:
    (a) What is the site about?
As the site was loading it was hard to guess what it was going to be about, was it selling something or was it lending money?  I found that the site was slow to load but then my broadband is slow so that could be the reason.  The colours were easy on the eye and I am sure suitable to all disabilities such as sight problems.  I rotating pictures which were good but they could have moved abit slower however that could be linked to my broadband speed.  After watching the pictures and reading the wording on the screen I discovered that the site was about an alterative method of remembering special occasions.

    (b) Is it clear what is in it for you? In other words, as a visitor what do you “get”?
After reading all on the site homepage and looking at the pictures I did get a basic understanding of what I think the site is offering.  Relatives and friends sending money rather than cards to family and friends to celebrate special occasions.  It may not be an instance realisation but I think given 5-10 minutes I think visitors would get a basic understanding of what the site offers.
    2) Now go back to the site and look around for about 30 seconds. What is your initial impression of what you see?
The site is clean with a good amount of white space.  It is easy to read and the font colours and sizes were acceptable.  The pictures were suitable and have a reasonable level of fun, cute but informative.  There is one picture that would make you think that you were going to be able to make money from your old used special occasions cards.  Also what is the idea of using what looks like an old lady in one of the images, I guess to show that this is a good idea for all ages!
    3) What is the very first thing you feel encouraged to click? Can you explain why?
Do be fair the sign up button is in a very visible situation but it’s not the first button I would want to click.  I always like to know more about any idea, I want to know how any idea works so sign up is not the first button I would want to click on but it was the first button I noticed.
    4) Do you feel encouraged to click the “Sign Up” button in the middle of the homepage? Why or why not?
I am not encouraged to click on the sign up button just because it is in the middle of the screen because I am always curious about how things work, I want to know more, how things work and mostly how this is good for me. Sign up reminds me of signing a contract and everyone is always reminded to read the small print before signing anything!
    5) By now have you figured out what the site does? If you have, what exactly was it that helped you understand? (An image? A video? A block of text? )
I think it was a combination of both text and pictures that helped me understand what the site could offer me.  I very rarely look at videos as my broadband can not handle it and I also prefer to read at my own pace rather then try to watch a possibly fast moving video and therefore having to watch it several times before completely understanding the whole offer.
    6) Please share any additional feedback you may have.
I have to be honest and say that I am not sure how successful this idea will be, maybe for relatives living far afield this might be good as it is expensive to send post to places like Australia.  However we all like to get greeting cards, the pictures, the joke, the verse these are all what we like and to have that extra personnel notes can be precious, think of valentine’s day, a wedding day or the birth of a baby.  However there are times such as a death or sickness when money is not what is important.  I am aware this site/idea is for Facebook so I would strongly recommend that stating clearly that the idea is a safe way of pacing money is important.  Also were can the money be transferred too – paypal?

  5. 1) Look around the home page for about 5 seconds and answer the following two questions:
    (a) What is the site about?
The site is all about allowing you to receive the money that would be spent on a card, instead of the actual card.
    (b) Is it clear what is in it for you? In other words, as a visitor what do you “get”?
As a visitor I get a cash alternative to the traditional greeting card from my family and friends.

    2) Now go back to the site and look around for about 30 seconds. What is your initial impression of what you see?
My initial impressions are very positive, the banners at the top of the homepage are helpful and the video is extremely useful too. The pages are simple and easy to read.

    3) What is the very first thing you feel encouraged to click? Can you explain why?
The first thing I am encouraged to click is the video of DontSendMeACard in 60 secs, because It is a great way of checking I understand how the website works

    4) Do you feel encouraged to click the “Sign Up” button in the middle of the homepage? Why or why not?
Yes, because the site has clearly explained how the process works and the sign up button is easily found. I like the ‘thumbs up’ icon on the button, which I found encouraging.

    5) By now have you figured out what the site does? If you have, what exactly was it that helped you understand? (An image? A video? A block of text? )
The video (mentioned above) was very helpful. However for me it was the whole of the rotating banner at the top of the homepage, as it had 5 sections, which really sold the other benefits too, e.g. helping the environment and hassle free.

    6) Please share any additional feedback you may have.
