Initial response: I have no clue about what drone me is about. After reading more it says that it is to publish anonymously, distributed on Twitter and just for 69 hours.
The homepage does not encourage me to click on random things. I see no reason to.
Create a wall and share it? Was the process straightforward?

Done. Yes it is.
Are you encouraged to use it? If not, why?

No. I don’t see the usefulness in a 69 hour post. Is the purpose to let out hot air about a rant?
Problem. I created a virtual wall, but now I just want to go back to your homepage. I see no obvious way to do that and clicking and various buttons do not get me back.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like twitter.com and 4chan.org?

twitter is much more broad than your service, and it appears that you are a compliment to twitter, not a direct competitor.
Plus, I don’t that that is a fair comparison. Twitter has been around and is very known, and user friendly. Your site has bugs, glitches, and is not in the same league as twitter.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

I like the tutorial on how it works.
I wish you gave some selling points or good reasons why your service is valuable to us.
The site seems very 1-dimensional at this point. It doesn’t appear to have multi-facets or reasons to keep users on the site.
First of all, thank you very much for your feedback and for taking your time to review Droneme.
I do not know if you had the chance to read the description above. in where you can see the uses of Droneme.
It is obvious that we should be more explicit and I do agree with that.
Twitter was not clear in the beginning to anyone because it was an empty place. Now it is valuable due its content, I do agree on that. They are not our competitor, but a reference of use for the users.
thanks again for your feedback and we have to work on that

Visit https://www.droneme.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to click any of the buttons? Why or why not?
My initial impression was to be put off. It just seemed to be people spitting out the first thing that pops into their head. However, as I was reading through the “walls” and understanding the purpose of the site, I could see how it would draw people who do just need to let off some steam or to share something that may be embarrassing to say aloud.
I was not immediately drawn to click any buttons. I just scrolled down reading the walls that were on the first page of the site.
Create a wall and share it? Was the process straightforward?
I did not create a wall. After going through the tutorial, it did seem to be pretty straightforward; rather easy, actually.
Are you encouraged to use it? If not, why?
*I* am not encouraged to use it; but I can see why people would be. For vocal people who sometimes just need to get things off their chests, this would be a perfect site.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like twitter.com and 4chan.org?
Comparing as far as it lets people say what is on their minds: same
However, this site being anonymous could actually do more harm than good; the internet has already let people say whatever they want without severe reprecusions and add on to it you can be anonymous, it could cause trouble.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
When I clicked on the tutorial, I was extremely confused for a few seconds on what exactly I’m supposed to be looking at. The words for the tutorial being on top of the webpage was a bit disorienting; it took a minute before I understood what the arrows for the instructions were pointing at. Also some of the white writing on top of the webpage is hard to look at, because almost everything is already written in white.
What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to click any of the buttons? Why or why not?
I vaguely remember Droneme from its earlier appearance on StartUpLift. My first impression now is similar to my first impression then–I’m not that fond of the black background. My guess is that your black and yellow color scheme is a play on the word “drone” (suggesting a bee), but I think you could accomplish that more attractively with a bee logo. To me, sites with black backgrounds like this are reminiscent of the kinds of sites that teenage boys create. They make me think of kids involved in various subcultural movements–hackers, goths, hipsters, etc. But maybe that’s what you intend.
Â
The next thing I notice right away is the word “test” in huge, bold letters. Clicking on it just displays it on another page, and now I realize this must be something a user posted as a trial.
Â
The third thing I’d like to click on is a link I noticed in the upper right corner when I landed on the home page. It said something like, “Go here and see how this works.” Unfortunately, by the time I refreshed the home page, this link had disappeared. That’s disappointing. If I was landing on Droneme for the first time, I would definitely want to click that link. As it is now, I don’t really get the purpose of the site at first glance, and I don’t remember it that well from last time I reviewed it. It takes my eyes a few minutes to notice your tagline at the top, “Publish Anonymously, Distributed on Twitter and Just for 69 Hours.” I would make that tagline larger and bolder if I were you because it’s too easy to overlook right now, and if visitors overlook it, they may be lost as to what this site is for.
Â
Create a wall and share it? Was the process straightforward?
I had to click “create a virtual wall” several times before the window popped up. I almost gave up.
Â
I don’t really understand the concept of creating a wall on your site. How can I do that if I don’t have an account with you? It looks like you’re going to give me my own subdomain, but I don’t understand what the purpose of that would be if I’m going to be publishing comments anonymously and for a limited time.
Â
When creating the wall, I’m given two options–“copy to clipboard” and “finish.” What am I supposed to be copying to a clipboard? I’m confused! I’m going to go ahead and click “finish.”
Â
Ok, now I’m taken to the new subdomain I’ve created. I guess now I’m supposed to just start posting?
Â
It looks like people can follow me on Twitter. I thought this was supposed to be anonymous, so again, I’m confused. And what is “QR code”? Never heard of that.
Â
You say you want me to share my wall, but who am I supposed to share it with and how?
Â
As you can probably guess by now, I don’t think this process is straightforward at all. I wish you had some informational pages on your site like an FAQ or a help page or something.
Â
Are you encouraged to use it? If not, why?
Not really because I can’t figure out what I’m supposed to do! When I visited this site awhile ago, I remember that you asked us to post comments and that it was a self-explanatory process. Now it’s much less clear what I should do with this subdomain you’ve given me.
Â
Just for kicks, I tried posting a comment again, and the process was the same as I remembered from the last time around. This was a much more straightforward procedure, and the only thing that didn’t work was the option to change text color. Even though I selected blue, the comment still appeared in white. I think I remember that I had the same problem last time.
Â
Personally, I’m not that big on tweeting, so I don’t really see myself using this. But if I was into that and wanted to express something anonymously, I might use it. I don’t understand why I’d want to turn around and share it with my friends, though. Isn’t the point supposed to be that it’s anonymous?
Â
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like twitter.com and 4chan.org?
Obviously Twitter is a much more established site. I see that your site differs from theirs in that you enable comments to remain anonymous. There’s no reason why someone who wants to be anonymous couldn’t just create a pseudonym at Twitter, though. That would accomplish the same purpose, I would think.
Â
I’ve never used 4chan. I understand that site is mainly for the Anonymous community. My antivirus software actually blocks it. Your site appears to have more mainstream appeal but might similarly attract people who want to keep a low profile.
Â
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
This is the second time I’m seeing Droneme, but it doesn’t feel like much has changed. It seems you’ve added the ability to create a subdomain (which you’re calling a wall), but I don’t understand why I’d want to do that when this is supposed to be an anonymous comment posting service. I also don’t totally get why I’d want to post anonymously at your site instead of creating a pseudonym at Twitter or Facebook.
Â
Here are my suggestions for your site:
1. Consider a background color other than black.
Â
2. Consider adopting a bee logo if you’re looking to play on the word “drone” in your name.
Â
3. Make your tagline bigger and bolder. It’s way too easy to overlook.
Â
4. Add some informational pages to your site to explain who and what Droneme is for and how it works.
Â
5. Move the “popular places” and “popular tags” categories to the bottom of the page. Right now, they don’t entice me to jump in at all; they just clutter up the screen when I’m still trying to get my bearings. Replace them with a couple of selling points. Remember that you have to convince users that they should try Droneme. You might try something like:
Â
–Express yourself freely without worrying what people you know will think.
–Post anonymous comments to our site or to our Facebook and Twitter pages.
–Decide how long your comment stays up. After 69 hours max, it disappears, so nothing you say now is ever set in stone.
Â
6. Shorten the number of comments displayed on the home page. Right now there are too many. It’s overwhelming.
Â
Note: How weird! The link to the tutorial in the upper right corner literally just reappeared! When I click it, I get some kind of pop-up window, but the background is transparent, so I can still see the text on the home page right through it. That’s hard on the eyes! The first page of the tutorial is a diagram that doesn’t seem relevant. What is it trying to show me? The rest of the pages make sense. However, the last page mentions that I might want to search for conversations that my friends are having. Why would I want to do that if the point is to stay anonymous? In any case, I’m glad to see the tutorial link reappeared, but I wonder why it disappeared in the first place. I’d rather see a dedicated “How It Works” tab than this link, which is too easy to miss.
Â
Visit https://www.droneme.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to click any of the buttons? Why or why not?
My first thought was what is going on with this site. Then I stopped and had a good look around. I was not drawn to click on anything but the comments that accompanied large pictures caught my attention first. I feel that because the site is so busy from the onset of getting to the site one has to figure out what the site is about and how to navigate it . You almost get lost into all of the post which on one hand can be a good thing. I would like to see a more detailed section stating what your site is about and how it is broke down. Being that I have seen your site before I understand it a little better. People might not understand the section titles of “latest, 24 and 69.” I can see that you have a tagline at the top of page in one line explaining what it is but it visually gets lost in the sauce when there’s so much to look at.
Create a wall and share it? Was the process straightforward?
It wasn’t totally clear how to even proceed. I think one has to almost guess and press the past something text box and then proceed from there. Lot’s of times companies have these boxes but you are no able to press on them to use. This “wall” seems to be a personalized wall in which I had info but it seems that the info will no longer be anonymous and what is the purpose if the information is not permanent. None the less the process was straight forward.
Are you encouraged to use it? If not, why?
I don’t see what would make me want to post a comment here besides and not on a personal twitter account besides the fact that I can make it annymous. It seems like your site is using twitter as a platform to have creditiblity and or popular side kick. I would like to you set your site apart and just do it’s own thing.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like twitter.com and 4chan.org?
I don’t see your site to be a compeitor to twitter at all. In fact your addind to twitter’s appeal being your distributing on twitter. Twitter is a highly popular brand name that is dynamnic, complex and engaging.
I like how 4chan immediatly explains what they do and doesn’t overwhelm the user with loads of visual cues. On the other hand I find that site to look quit boring. I like how that have boards that you can look through and then choose where you want to post. Making it this way gives the user the power to read only what they want and to post only where they want to.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
I see that you have a tutorial on your page but I would sadly call it a tutorial. You can see that homepage in the background which make it really hard to see what your supposed to do. The graphics look like nobody really cared just something somebody whipped together as a last minute addition. I would like to have seen it down with a clear back drop and with written and drawn instructions. From looking at the site it doesn’t seem that much has changed. Besides reading the post it still doesn’t have an interactive feel to it and seems to lack that zest to draw people in.
gzones1974,
The first question of our usability test typically asks us to look at the website and tell you from 15-30 seconds of looking at your homepage what it is about and what do you do, just by what we see. I did not read the summary you provided before the initial look at your homepage so I could give an authentic answer and would not already know what your website is about. But yes, to a first time visitor, it needs to be crystal clear what you do and what value you can offer to them.

Visit https://www.droneme.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to click any of the buttons? Why or why not?
My initial response: Â I liked the black background I thought it was cool and a little different from most sites. Â However, I disliked the format of the comments posted it looked sort of choppy and amateurish (it made me wonder if this was a small homemade site). Â I would suggest having a different layout. Possibly with different shaped speech bubbles.
The only thing I was drawn to click was the help tutorial, because it was difficult to figure out what I was supposed to be doing on this site. Â The tutorial was hard to figure out and I would suggest doing it in white with colored arrows, the fact that it is transparent makes it a little confusing. Â Also, better information is needed in a help or Faqs section about how to use this site. Â After I exited the tutorial I couln’t return to it again the little bubble had disappeared ?(. Â Â
My other inital reaction to this website were the questions going through my head. Â I started wondering how can my post stay up for 24 or 69 hours- wouldn’t it get squeezed out by newer and newer posts? I also wondered why would I want to tweet a post I made anonymously. Â Another point- wouldn’t spammers and advertisers and explicit material run rampant on a site like this?
Create a wall and share it? Was the process straightforward?
It was a little confusing not knowing the difference between creating a wall and making a post (when viewing the site initially.) Â Â
I created a wall it was very straight forward. Â But while creating it I wasn’t sure what a wall is for. Â What’s its use? Who will see it? Â Also, I think the Copy To Clipboard should be renamed Share or Url. Â So people will know what it is they are copying to the clipboard.Â
Are you encouraged to use it? If not, why?
No I wasn’t encouraged to use it. Â And to be honest I don’t think many people would use a site like this. Â While I can definitely see the potential in posting cool comments anonymously and having arguments/conversations with random people… I think the way the site is now would not work well at all. Â Mainly because it is not user friendly, the designing looks uninviting and not awesome enough to attract a load of people. Â It also, leaves the user with a lot of questions about the site and how it works exactly. Â
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like twitter.com and 4chan.org?
I don’t know what 4chan is. Â As regards to twitter.com I don’t think that this site would be a direct competitor, because it is trying to attract a different type of user and is providing a slightly different type of service.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
This site could be a huge hit the potential is definitely there.  However, I think it is in a very early stage of development and needs more work, more restructuring, more rethinking on what it is exactly that it wants to do and how to avoid the common nuisances social sites like this normally encounter.
I liked the fact that you don’t need to register, most users are discouraged from posting thoughts because of registration requirements. Â While this is a positive it is also a huge drawback for you because it will allow all the spammers and idiots to kill your site with their crap. Â Some sort of regulation measures will still need to be developed to make this site usable for the average person. Â
Another point is that the site could use better organization and directories instead of simply using tagging. Â For example, organizing posts by location like craigslist, Â or by interest in a drop down style would make it more user friendly and would attract people to explore more of the site. Having featured topics on a main page would make the site funner and would help pull people in to the site. Â At this stage you should be thinking of two things: 1. a good hook- since the site is currently lacking it. Â Â 2. Substance. Â More pages and categories for people to explore, you want to keep them on your site for a while and coming back. Â My suggestion for this is to expand things to do on the site.
Â
Â
What is your initial impression of what you see?
 Â
Initially I experienced a feeling of being overwhelmed! First ,being hit with a bold back ground of black, then a lack of where to go from there~????Â
Too much going on at once. Unless you are similar with this site, one can very easily get lost trying to feel and find your way around.
Â
Â
Are you immediately drawn to click on any of the buttons? Why or why not?
 Â
No I was not. A sense of being lost and hit with so much from the home page leaves me with no desire to search further into the site and actually start to click on any of the buttons.
Â
Â
 Â
Creat a wall and share it, was the process straightforward?
 Â
I created a wall and the process was easy to do, straight and simple. Create a virtual wall can’t be missed. Voice your opinion on anything, who will read what you wrote? No directions, instructions just jump in and empty your thoughts. Also a bit confused with the ‘copy to clipboard’ connection. Leaves you hanging, and, incomplete. once you hit this link you have to log back in to continue on the home page.
Â
 Â
Are you encouraged to use it, If not, why?
Â
No, because there is too much to look at and I don’t know where I would like to start, or finish for that matter it reminds me of a puzzle with too many pieces and you have no idea where to start.
Â
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like twitter.com and 4 chan. org?
 Â
There really is no comparison~ I must admit that I am not that familiar with 4 chan. Org.
Â
But who has not heard of twitter? Twitter has a history that stands for itself. Countless people use twitter daily from the unknown list of people to those who are famous in the music industry, and the stars that connect with their followers constantly. Most people never heard of this site, so where is the comparison?
Â
Â
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
 Â
May I strongly suggest a much lighter, even brighter back ground?  That black sends off darkness that has no connection to your site. It would also help to make the site more appealing to everyone. Make people want to visit and be happy and exciting to do so. Offer some suggestions on ways people can connect on a global scale and find ways to encourage each other.Â

ñ Visit https://www.droneme.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to click any of the buttons? Why or why not?
First thing to hit me when I opened droneme.com was the heavy black background that spread through the whole page. Second was the images with text on their foreground. Finally, the layout come into view consisting of large text that diminish as the hours go by. It would have taken me a while to figure out what the site was all about if not for the “see tutorial on how this page works†and the about page. After getting accustomed to the site is when I begun clicking buttons randomly and waiting for the surprise.
ñ Create a wall and share it? Was the process straightforward?
Creating a wall and sharing it is quite easy and straightforward.
ñ Are you encouraged to use it? If not, why?
Am not encouraged to Drone since I wouldn’t even be sure who would read and relate to my drones. This is because they are random and fade into oblivion. People will have to go out of their way to find something interesting to drone, then it lasts up to 69hrs. This translates to 69hours of me checking how many likes or dislikes I will get or the number of comments I will amass. I am really tempted to drone something horrendous and alien. Images posted are supposed to be engaging to others, and relating to the white text, which waylays and turns them into an eyesore. Yes! the site is supposed to be for fun purposes, but what will bring me back is the big question – to hear what anonymous has to drone? I also don’t get the roles played by the related places and more so the related tags in droneme or even how I am supposed or can use the drone word like in a speech.
ñ How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like twitter.com and 4chan.org?
Droneme is of cos a social site that leans more to 4chan.org than to twitter. On twitter, people follow each others posts and even look forward to this. You have to register and get some followers and likewise; follow others. One can follow randomly, on interests basis, follow celebrities etc. One is assured that someone will read his/her post. Whichever way one participates, you feel as if you are part of some cycle. On the other hand, Droneme is like a black board in-front of a class where students can enter one by one, draw/write on it, erase to create space, write on it again, laugh(like)/jeer(dislike)/deface(comment) at another’s contribution,..something like that. 4Chan on the other hand is as plain as can be. The fact that it has been around since 2003 with that interface is worrying. To be honest, I have heard about it for the first time here.
ñ Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
The black background doesn’t do Droneme any justice and it is not in the least welcoming. The contrast is also too high. Colors are really important in social sites. The orange color is actually good looking but it ends there. Also, you have to explicitly put across what the site really accomplishes, whether it is the physical place of droning emphasis or the tag line or both. The site needs a logo like any other social networking site and a catchy one at that. I also wonder what will happen if people catch the drone fever and start posting heavily. I think we will have to go to great depths to read posts, therefore a well organized pagination interface is needed. I am also trying to relate on the criterion chosen to select the maximum number of hours a post stays on Droneme.
Visit https://www.droneme.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to click any of the buttons? Why or why not?
At first sight it looked very busy and what was written on the pics did not truly made sense to me. It kind of cluttered my mind as I like clean open websites with very little writing. The fact that it is very visual and does not have lots of little things, it stayed with me for a while. Some of the pics were cool and gave a lot of emotion. As I scrolled down I noticed that you can click on the pics to make them larger. I did not immediately related with most of the thoughts but as I spend a little time it became more clear. I could sense there were emotion in some of the thoughts and other were just superficial. Those that had soul like the one that said things on my mind attracted me and others like the one with the party in his tummy I could just picture this guy with a heavy hangover after the previous night. Droneme does not have the best first impression and hit you hard with the first glance. After spending some time on it you start to relate and then in kinda grow on you to become part of a subconscious state were a lot of people find themselves without the means to express it.
Create a wall and share it? Was the process straightforward?
Very straight forward. I did struggle at the end when it said tags empty as I did not know where the tags were. After a couple of backward and forward clicks I figured out it was the keywords that were there but not entered by using a coma.
It was very easy to share once finished. Would be nice to have a couple of different fonts to play with as the same font for all makes it too universal and not individual
Are you encouraged to use it? If not, why?
At first no but after a little testing and spending more time with it I realized it is a great way to rid you of unspoken words. Things that we keep inside ourselves and have a desperate need to share with the world. I am concerned that people might use vulgar language or get mean with words. Do not know how you will be able to controle that. What if the pictures are offensive in nature. Guess you have that covered. To say the least I am starting to like the idea of such a website. Being able to express yourself and free some emotional backlog. Can definitely work for me.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like twitter.com and 4chan.org?
Twitter is great for those who use it correctly. Unfortunately most people tweet for themselves and do not really express their emotions well. With droneme you can much better express yourself. They say a picture can tell a thousand words. For this reason as people get to know it can become a novelty that every one must have. There is lots of room for improvement, for instance to put music with each post as you click on it. And later have 3 or four pics slide on after the other. I am not familiar with 4chan.org but after a quick look it was clear that dromeme is much more attracting
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
After a long day at office and coming tired home with your wife nagging and the kids being difficult demanding attention I can use droneme to relieve myself of emotional backlog. (If I may call it that) Knowing that all my friends and who know who else may see it and ponder. It can let my mind drift away and relieve stress that has build up within me. My thoughts are very important to me and in this way I can freely share them in this convenient manner. I can start thinking clear again and upon waking in the morning feel refreshed and relieved. ready to take on the world again. With droneme I now can free myself and speak my mind.
Visit https://www.droneme.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to click any of the buttons? Why or why not? A collaborative website similar to a message board or craigslist. I was intrigued to click on some of the topics because they either looked funny or something about a recent news event.
Create a wall and share it? Was the process straightforward? Yes. I learned as I explored the site a bit more about what “creating a wall” entailed.
Are you encouraged to use it? If not, why? If I’m bored at work and need a new form of entertainment, yes. It’s funny and interesting to see what all kinds of people will post, especially when it’s anonymous.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like twitter.com and 4chan.org? droneme.com has less content (for now) which can be a good or bad thing. For me, 4chan is seriously overwhelming, as is twitter, so I tend to not even bother with those websites. DroneMe seems to be on a smaller scale which can be a good thing for people looking for a smaller but still entertaining platform.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have. I could definitely see the potential in this site. Many people look to the internet for humor and when there’s a website available to post anonymously on, people are shameless and uninhibited which most of the time makes for good entertainment.
My first initial impression was that the layout is actually pretty cool and attention catching. Although, so far I am quite reminded of tumblr. The process of posting something is pretty straight forward, but the location part seems a bit unnecessary as it may be something people actually do not wish to share. I am not really sure about using it myself so far. It seems kind of fun, but at the same time I do not see it offering me something that my actual Facebook, Twitter, tumblr, and email accounts do not already have. I think it has a unique idea that could go somewhere, but needs more to it before it can truly be something. Again, the layout is cool so I wouldn’t change that but I would try to offer something that twitter, Facebook, and others do not offer as of yet.
Visit https://www.droneme.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to click any of the buttons? Why or why not?
First impression was confusion, very cluttered. I couldn’t tell what was the site and where the walls were off the bat. Perhaps enlarge the font or maybe not white for the heading of sections.
Create a wall and share it? Was the process straightforward? Are you encouraged to use it? If not, why?
Creating a wall was extremely easy. There were adequate options to personalize your wall and a very strait forward posting process.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like twitter.com and 4chan.org?
I think you will need something more unique if you wish to expand.

Its an excellent idea and I love the privacy of it all. You could leave clues for a friend to find or it could turn into the platform for inside jokes everywhere. It would be interesting to enter the website made to look like an airport or the mall, and the posts scroll down the walls of certain areas. Users could then tell their friends to look for their post in the Japan section or on the wall near Spencer’s. Perhaps some advertising could be worked in there as well.

I don’t like it at all. To confusing to run! It’s just to confusing for kids and some people when they join the site. The color’s were to bright and there’s not enough help as I could see to learn how to operate the page?

Create a wall and share it? Was the process straightforward?
I did not like that either. That was also confusing for me also. It did not say were it would post it. or anything. I rather not recommended this site. it need’s improving quite a bit.
Are you encouraged to use it? If not, why?
NO! I don’t like the design of it. and what they have listed. They need to make it easier to and explain where your posting at? And change the color’s so they aren’t so bright.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like twitter.com and 4chan.org?
Will I rather use Facebook, then twitter, Twitter is to confusing and seems boring like this site. I am not sure anybody would like it. in my suggesting.

If i was you, I rather use facebook. it’s a lot easier to run. but in this site. they need to improve it to make the posting on the wall easier and the logging which account and other stuff.
