I really like your size. There isn’t too much information and I think you create a positive image for your brand, while selling your product(s) effectively. Great job!
The product pages such as: https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas and https://www.fotofriend.com/photo-books are designed to be landing pages from search engines and paid ads. Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? Any comments on any specific product pages?
The Mounted Canvas landing page is ok, but I personally don’t see how I am seeing the product. I mean, I see a picture of two people on their wedding day, but how does that represent a “Mounted Canvas Could you represent the product better by having a 3D representation of what a mounted canvas looks like (while still using the same photo of the wedding). I would also increase the font size.
The Photo book landing page is good. But there is a lot of white space. I think you could increase the font size of the description so it is easier on the eyes to read it.
How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements?
The navigation is very easy. No improvement suggestions because I think your site looks professional and works great!
Is signing in/signing up an easy process and can you think of ways to improve it?
Signing up was straightforward and I can’t think of any ways to improve it.
Is the free offer: https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this?
I think the offer is very appealing to try out Fotofriend.
What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good?
I think your site looks great. The one thing I would suggest is making the font of some of the text larger. The “fine print†on your homepage could be slightly larger so it is easily readable.
Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not?
Yes. If I wanted to print a photo book, I would definitely use it.
Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
It is very simple to do this. I can’t think of anything to make my experience better.
Please share any general feedback.
I liked your logos at the bottom. They give your brand a lot of credibility and development of trust for purchases. I really like your site. I’ll be honest with you that your site is the best I have reviewed in quite some time. I can find very few issues with it. My biggest one would be to slightly increase the font on your fine print text.
The free offer ribbon by “Claim My Gift†– I would suggest putting FREE OFFER in a shade of blue. I think it would stand out more. The white inside the yellow seems to shock my eyes more than comfort them.
Love the opening picture of the dad with his daughter.
I can’t find anything else to improve. Good job!
I want to finish up with a question to the site admin./owner: Do you have selling points (other than product offerings) that other competitors do not? (example: VistaPrint also claims to offer free photos to sample)
Visit https://www.fotofriend.com. What are your initial impressions?
I live the layout and it piqued my interest to want to check out the site
The product pages such as: https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas and https://www.fotofriend.com/photo-books are designed to be landing pages from search engines and paid ads. Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? Any comments on any specific product pages?
The page looks professional, but I would like to see more of the product. There are few pictures on the site to show the finished product but they are small and hard to see. Then you have some pictures that can be enlarged to see the edges, but not of the picture. I think it’s a good price, but I would still like to make sure this is what I am looking for and to determine the quality
How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements?
I can’t see any place where you need to improve. I was able to look at everything on the site and learn all about what your site is about
Is signing in/signing up an easy process and can you think of ways to improve it?
The process was easy and I can’t think of a way to improve
Is the free offer: https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this?
Who is not interested in getting free pictures! I think this is a good way of enticing people to use your website.  I think you might get more interest if you make it know to the reader. Right now the offer is down at the bottom mixed in with your other products and information. Move it so it would pique the interest of someone to utilize your services
What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good?
I love the site, the colors, pictures and the products. However, I did struggle with reading some of your content. I would suggest making the font a little bigger for us vision challenged customers! LOL I was getting a headache trying to read some of the information.
Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not?
I think I would use your service. I think you are comparable to other sites, but I think you may offer a few extra products
Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
Not sure if I would use this service for my facebook photos. I try not and do any type of advertising and use it to chat with friends and see what is going on in their lives

Hi zeke2100,
Thanks for your constructive feedback. At first I took some of your comments as flattery but having looked back at some of your previous posts I can see that you are objective and honest, so thank you.
Firstly, point taken: the minimum font-size used needs to be increased. Also, point taken about the mounted canvas image. Does just look like a wedding photo and not a 3d representation of the product.
In response to this, and your final question about selling points, in the next release I am going to include a prominent section on each product page which is “customer submitted photos”. These photos sent in by customers will give you an exact idea of what you’re getting, and also give you some ideas. Customers sending in such photos of their previous orders will get 25% off their next order.
Also I will update the mounted canvas image to be easier to see what you are getting.
Our other selling points would be “fanatical customer support”. Generally queries are answered within an hour or two, and we go to extreme measures to make our customers happy. Perhaps this can be presented somehow on the site more prominently?
Finally our products are PREMIUM. They are better than what most competitors will offer (and comparable with the top competitors). We will be adding more products soon, and so range and ease-of-use are also selling-points.
Thanks again!
Ben

· Visit https://www.fotofriend.com. What are your initial impressions?
I don’t like the layout. I personally wouldn’t stay on the page to search out more information. I feel like the homepage is too busy, and I don’t like the background color. The background color needs to be a cooler color. I also feel that the “Start with Foto Friend & Receive a FREE Gift!†the font needs to be changed. The font on “My Free Gift and Country†looks amateur. And lastly, the colors do not compliment one another.
· The product pages such as: https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas and https://www.fotofriend.com/photo-books are designed to be landing pages from search engines and paid ads. Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? Any comments on any specific product pages?
The mounted canvas and the Photo-Books page looks more information than a shopping cart. In my opinion, I think there needs to be something that directs buyers to go to the box on the right hand side to place their order. I also feel like the color needs to be adjusted to bring more attention to the box. The products look professional, but the lay out needs to be better.
· How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements?
The navigation is clear and easy. The only suggestions that I have, as previously mentioned, is the coloring of the box.
· Is signing in/signing up an easy process and can you think of ways to improve it?
The Facebook symbol needs to be moved away from the sign in, and there needs to be an option for sign up. If you would like to enable individuals to sign in with their facebook, then that needs to be an additional optional. Personally, I would be very cautious signing in with my facebook account knowing the danger of someone taking my identification.
· Is the free offer: https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this?
It is very appealing. I would be very interested.
· What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good?
The site is not very appealing. The background, font and layout all need to be redone. The background color needs to be a lighter color and the informational boxes can have more color. Right now my eyes are drawing more to the background. The font is elementary and not very professional or warming. The letters stand out, but they don’t draw the eyes to them. The way the page is laid out you can easily miss important facts on the website.
· Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not?
No I wouldn’t, I wouldn’t get any further than the first page. The colors aren’t very appealing to my eyes.
· Create a mounted canvas. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
It was easy to create a mounted canvas. I think to make it easier there should be instructions available before creating the mounted canvas. I also think there should be a way to download the pictures to in order to know if the resolution is correct before actually creating the mounted canvas.
· Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
When I logged into my Facebook photos, the program still wanted to pull the photos from my computer. I had to verify that I was logged into my Facebook. I think it is important if the photos are suppose to pull from Facebook that it does just that.
· Please share any general feedback.
My general feedback is as follows. I think once the colors, font and layout is changed that you have a good website. I also think that with a warmer background page will be more inviting and you will get more people to your site. Many people do not trust logging into a website using their Facebook information, so I feel like it is important to explain that option in the beginning. At the same time, make it clear to your visitors that they have an option to log in with their Facebook or with their fotofriend account. I think the website needs to be more clear as to what is going on. If a particular page is for ordering then it needs to be set up, and directional to that purpose.
Hi mikib,
Thank you so much for your valuable feedback.
I will definitely be focusing on letting users “see more of the product”. As mentioned to zeke2100 in the next release I am going to include a prominent section on each product page which is “customer submitted photosâ€. These photos sent in by customers will give you an exact idea of what you’re getting, and also give you some ideas. Do you think this is a step in the right direction? Any other suggestions on how to solve this, or do we just need better photos?
I’m glad that you like the free offer and feel it should be made more prominent. I was starting to doubt whether or not it is appealing, but I agree that it is a good way to draw in a potential customer.
I will definitely be increasing the minimum font-size used on the site. Glad you like the colors, products and pictures.
Last question. With using it to print Facebook photos you mentioned: “I try not and do any type of advertising and use it to chat with friends and see what is going on in their lives”. Just wondering what exactly you meant your objection to using it would be?
Thanks again I appreciate all the constructive feedback you have provided!
Ben
Hi AnnointedAssistant,
Thank you so much for giving me your honest opinion. It’s exactly what I need.
I hear you. The background for you is turning you off the whole site. We certainly haven’t gone with a safe or all-white color-palette. The mission is to create a memorable identity for the site, to draw people in and definitely not to turn people off!
I am open to change, but dont want to throw away all the layout work that has already been put in (we are talking a lot of work). I have quickly mocked up some alternative (and perhaps more appealing?) color schemes:
https://www.fotofriend.com/Temp/grey.jpg
https://www.fotofriend.com/Temp/white.jpg
https://www.fotofriend.com/Temp/red_flat.jpg
Obviously with this scheme change would have to come some changes to the other elements, such as the yellow offer section. What are your thoughts on these alternative schemes (and anyone else’s??)?
Thanks for the feedback about logging in with Facebook and having a sign up link. I will be adding a Sign up link for the next release.
While I hear your objection about having your identity stolen, using Facebook connect is in fact secure and your information never passes into the hands of Foto Friend and is passed directly to Facebook. That being said I know that other people do share your objection. In the next release I will add a link that gives information on this security under the Login with Facebook link.
I agree more instructions are needed before creating the canvas. This will be added soon. There is just a lot to do so this has been left on the backburner!
When you say “there should be a way to download the pictures to in order to know if the resolution is correct before actually creating the mounted canvas” do you mean that it is a waste of time uploading photos that aren’t going to fit? I think you do, however this may be a difficult problem to solve (but not impossible).
When you commented that “I had to verify that I was logged into my Facebook” can you suggest an improvement to this?
In your general feedback you noted “make it clear to your visitors that they have an option to log in with their Facebook or with their fotofriend account”. Can you suggest a better way to do this?
Finally you commented that “If a particular page is for ordering then it needs to be set up, and directional to that purpose”. What would such a page look like (i.e. what sort of content would be on it)? Sorry just trying to clarify exactly how to improve these things.
Thanks again so much for your feedback I truly appreciate it.
Ben
Good afternoon Ben,
I am more than happy to assist you!
I think the grey is more appealing to the eyes. It’s also more relaxing and inviting ~Â https://www.fotofriend.com/Temp/grey.jpg.
Obviously with this scheme change would have to come some changes to the other elements, such as the yellow offer section. What are your thoughts on these alternative schemes I think the yellow offer section should be a color that compliments the boxes around it. Even if it was a deeper yellow to match the words in the “Introducing our all new photo books” section.
In the next release I will add a link that gives information on this security under the Login with Facebook link. I feel this is a good idea, I think it will make people feel better about logging in with their ID. A lot of people don’t realize that a lot of times their ID’s are stolen because they don’t log out, not because they logged into a program.
“there should be a way to download the pictures to in order to know if the resolution is correct before actually creating the mounted canvas†do you mean that it is a waste of time uploading photos that aren’t going to fit? I don’t necessarily think it is a waste of time. Once the customer has the picture downloaded they have an opportunity to observe the picture with the various backgrounds and see if they like that particular picture with the backgrounds available, but at the same time, some will log in and if they see they don’t have the correct resolution they aren’t going to go back through the necessary steps to change the resolution and re-down load the picture. So you could be losing some customers just by not letting them know in  the beginning what the resolution should be. More of a courtesy to your customers.
“I had to verify that I was logged into my Facebook†can you suggest an improvement to this? I don’t know if this was an issue with your system or with Facebook. But I logged into my Facebook, but I did not receive the option to actually pick one of the pictures from my Facebook album. The system took me right back to where I would pick a picture from my computer. I know that I was in Facebook because I had to verify that I wanted to allow access.
“make it clear to your visitors that they have an option to log in with their Facebook or with their fotofriend account†I would suggest placing the Facebook log in option under the signin option, not right beside it.  Also, when someone is signing up for fotofriend for the first time, I would suggest letting them know that they have an option to use their login they just created or to log in using their Facebook account.
“If a particular page is for ordering then it needs to be set up, and directional to that purposeâ€. What would such a page look like (i.e. what sort of content would be on it)?
I would suggest just letting your customers know what to do to order. Actually let the customers know, if they want a particular product to click on it, or to go to a particular location to place their order. Maybe even say something like if you would like to purchase an album, then click here. And the link  take you to where the customer needs to be to place their order.
Once again, I am more than happy to assist you!!
Does FotoFriend have any testimonials yet? I didn’t see any by just browsing around.Â
I somewhat agree with AnointedAssistant about the hesitation to log in with my Facebook account. I am not concerned about my identity being stolen, but I have had many experiences of a new website auto-posting a referral link to their site upon registering with a new site. If you could assure customers that your site doesn’t do this, it may ease their worries. That being said, some people have no issue with this and will sign right in with it.
AnnointedAssistant,
Wow you are truly providing excellent feedback.
Please check out the mockups I have done based on your suggestions:
https://www.fotofriend.com/Temp/new_mockup.jpg
https://www.fotofriend.com/Temp/new_mockup_yellow.jpg
https://www.fotofriend.com/Temp/new_mockup_yellow_paler.jpg
https://www.fotofriend.com/Temp/new_mockup_yellow_paler2.jpg
I think my preference is the 1st and last. Any comments on these?
I see what you are saying about resolution. I agree, but many people do not understand resolution and a message saying “your photos must be at least 2048×3096” may confuse them. Also some layouts allow for smaller photos and so the requirements change based on the layout you choose.
With Facebook login, I see what you are saying. Perhaps a message is needed like “You are now logged in with Facebook. Click here to print your Facebook photos”.
Regarding Facebook login, I will put your suggestions into the next release.
For the link to order, currently it is “Login with Facebook” or “Regular Sign Up” on the product pages (re-mocked up:)
https://www.fotofriend.com/Temp/new_mockup_prod_page.jpg
Do you think changing these links would help? In a previous release it was a button which said “Create canvas” which then took you to a page to sign up or sign in (regular or Facebook). You still get a button now to “Create your Canvas” if you are already logged in (and no “Create Your Mounted Canvas” section on the right, just more white space).
Thanks again, really.
Ben
There are 3 testimonials on the feedback page:
https://www.fotofriend.com/index.php?feedback=1
I would like to make the customer submitted photos the real testimonials because I think the proof is in the pudding. I think a testimonials section would be useful though to give border-line buyers a push in the confidence direction.
Ben
Does anyone have any feedback on these potential layout changes (some people find the current red background disturbing, others like it):
Â
Current:
1. Homepage: https://www.fotofriend.com
2. Product Page: https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas

Suggested New

Visit https://www.fotofriend.com. What are your initial impressions?
I must say that my very first thought was netflix with the red background. That being said, your site is well organized, vivid and catchy. It’s make photo sharing and photo projects look quick, fun and easy. The main photo looks crystal clear and very realistic.
The product pages such as: https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas and https://www.fotofriend.com/photo-books are designed to be landing pages from search engines and paid ads. Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? Any comments on any specific product pages?
Again you have another well organized and professional page. Bright colors, balanced information with easy to follow instrustions. I like that you clearly have product descriptions, pricing a vast country selection. I like that you have the boxes delicately fixed with thin lines separating information. I like visual boundaries, it doen’t leave me the the viewer just aimlessly looking all around. Nice photo selections, a married couple and a baby. These are two parts a person life that are heart warming and precious.
Is this page just for information because I see that there is no where to enter and or upload photos? I can only assume that you will be able to enter something after you sign up. I like that you offer more than one way to sign up.
How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements?
Navigating through your site was very easy and clear. I can’t think of a way to improve it.
Is signing in/signing up an easy process and can you think of ways to improve it?
I created an account and I was surprised to see that there was no box indicating that I had to confirm with a link in my email. I like that you have a sign in\up security measure and that you state you don’t share information. Sign up was so fast that I almost didn’t know that I was signed up. Maybe you ask for a person name and have hi, latasha or something to that effect so that it seems more personalized. Also so that people can specifically see that they are signed in.
Is the free offer: https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this?
Before I can answer this question I must say that this was the only odd picture that I have seen so far on your site. The guys face is cut off, it’s almost like why is he in the picture to begin with. The way she is sitting looks akward, I would really suggest findng another picture for that area.
I see that you have a small postage charge but will that be taken off if your ordering something else? Looking at the selection of free gifts the only one that seems the least appealing is the the custom photo card because you only get one. Â
What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good?
The general layout of the site it fine. Color wise the site is great but the pink shading needs to be brighter or just choos another color that is in contrast to the red. You can hardly see the pink shading. I would also suggest making the font just a touch bigger.
Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not?
I would use the service if I was into creating different looks for my pictures.
Create a mounted canvas. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
The process started out fine but after I hit the upload button nothing happened for a moment and the screen was blank. I would like to have been able to change my selection during any part of the provcess. I like that I could pull photos from other areas but the get photos tab doesn’t cleary express that. It needs to be more direction as to how to use the service and it’s features. I think a how-to video would be a great feature to your site. It will also allow user to get more exicted about what they could create using your service.
Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
I do not have a facebook account so I am unable to do that.
Please share any general feedback.
Your site is professional, organized and simple to follow but it lacks zest. It’s doesn’t draw me in as to why I should use your service. I would like to see a product that’s sets you apart from the other. As I stated before you really need something interactive on your site. The site is so streamline that to some it might be boring. you may want to try some bold lines and some contrasting colors. You also might add a uploading section for people to store photos until they are ready to use them. The only time that I see uploading is when you want to create something. The design styles need to be shifted from the bottom because they almost went unoticed. The preview button can be moved and the design styles can be put below that. I would also suggest getting phone number on your contact list because e-mail might take some time if your staff is not speedy in their responses. Be bold and fun but stay professional.
Ben,
A few thoughts on the proposed color changes. First, I like the paler2 one a little better. To be honest, though, it would not change my calls to action (response to buy).
Second, here is my opinion on why some people find the red background disturbing – because it fades from a darker red (crimson) to a bright red. It kind of reminds me of blood. My thought process is that you chose the red to fade because down at the bottom of the page, the white font looks better on bright red.
Next, I want to point out that I went to Kodak.com for reference. I don’t know if you consider them a complimentary brand or rival brand, but your small icon in the tab of the window looks eerily familiar.  Tabbed side by side, yours is a slightly darker red but incorporates the same colors. Did you notice this, and if you consider them a competitor, do you want to be this similar to them? If you consider them a complimentary brand, then I suppose you would want the good “vibes” and positive connection associated with Kodak’s already established brand.Â
Hi Latasha,
Yes inspiration was definitely drawn from Netflix. I’m very glad you find the layout appealing, and I hear that it should be made more bold and fun, and in some way differentiated from the competitors.
I found your feedback very useful will fix the following:
– there being no link to enter or to upload photos on product pages
– a “You have successfully signed up” message is required
– picture with the man cropped out: I will review that image.
– yes the postage combines on the free offer when ordering other things. I will add a comment to that effect.
– pink shading: will definitely sort that one out
– upload is not clear to use. I will add more instructions/a video or make the process easier.
Thank you!
Ben
Another option is the flat red look:
https://fotofriend.com/Temp/mockup_flat_red.jpg
I completely agree concerning the association with blood, but I also think the gradient does add some dimension to the page. I’m not sure where to go on this one.
I think that Kodak are a incredibly recognized brand – so much so that their colors are almost synonymous with the photo industry. That probably influenced the selection of the colors (on some level). That small logo does contain 2 diagonal Fs though, representing “foto friend”. At this stage I’m going to leave the icon as is, simply because so much work has gone into it already and there are so many competing priorities.
Thanks so much again.
Ben
See my reply below… (next thread)
Have you considered the option of using a green for the background, similar to the color of green used in the “o” of the logo. Plus, right now the craze is the green movement. You might get some organic points.
$5 awarded to zeke2100.

$5 awarded to Latasha.
Thanks zeke2100 for the suggestion. I will do some more mockups and post them on this page within a day or so. I’m going to clear my head now and let all this information digest.

Visit https://www.fotofriend.com. What are your initial impressions?
My initial impression was good. I really like the layout and the color choice. It is easy to understand and explains well what your service is.
The product pages such as: https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas and https://www.fotofriend.com/photo-books are designed to be landing pages from search engines and paid ads. Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? Any comments on any specific product pages?
I think the pages look professional and are well laid out. I think the products are easy to understand and is well presented. I like the box on the side which states prices. The pictures that are shown from every angle is very helpful with understanding the products.
How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements?
The navigation of the site is easy and clear for the most part, the links at the bottom on the page is very helpful. The only issues that I have with the navigation is the “home” link. While navigating the site it took me a few minutes to figure out that you have to click on the “logo” in order to return to the homepage. Some people may not figure that out since most sites have a “home” link. I would suggest that you put a link on your site for the homepage, so that people are able to get back to the homepage without a problem.
Is signing in/signing up an easy process and can you think of ways to improve it?
I signed up through the “regular” sign up. It was easy to understand and to do. It just asked for my e-mail address and a password. The only time any personal information was asked is when buying a product which is expected.
Is the free offer: https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this?
Yes I would be interested. Getting pictures printed of this quality is not exactly cheap and having a free offer of your choice would be great!!
What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good?
Like I stated above, I think the layout is great!! It looks very professional and is easy to understand. Other than having a “home” link, I don’t think anything should be changed as in the look or layout of the site.
Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not?
Yes I actually plan to use it. I think it’s a great idea and the prices are reasonable. I also like the choices in products.
Create a mounted canvas. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
I think it was very easy to understand and to do. My experience could not have been any better. The steps are easy!!
Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
Again, as I stated above, it was very easy to do and my experience could not have been any better. The steps are easy.
Please share any general feedback.
Overall, I think the site looks very professional and it’s easy to understand. There are a few things that I think you should change.
As I stated above, you need to have a “home” link.
I clicked on the “contact us” and I was a little confused by it. It looks as though it more of a “feedback” section not a “contact” section. It is not explained on how I can contact the company. If I have a problem or a question, where do I asked that? Do I use the “feedback” box to do that? And if so, how long until I get a reply? I think you should also have a “contact phone number”. I think it’s important when you are dealing with people’s credit cards, that you should have a “contact number”.Â
Hi Sierra12346,
Â
Thanks so much for your valuable feedback! I am particularly excited that you plan to use the service in the future.
Â
Firstly, point taken about the home link. I guess I decided not to add one because there’s really not that much to do on the homepage that you can’t do elsewhere, but I know that people do like to come back to the homepage and so I will look at fitting in a Home link into the top bar.
Â
Secondly regarding the feedback form/contact us issue. I agree this is misleading, and may make people think we don’t have proper support. There is in fact a page with correct contact information:
Â
https://www.fotofriend.com/index.php?help=1&p=c
Â
and I will make the “Contact Us” link at the bottom linked to this page in the next release. I will also include “expected response time” information on the Contact Us page and Feedback page.
Â
Thanks again for your feedback it has been very valuable to me.
Â
Ben
I meant that when you are on facebook, and you are using a prdocut or service, it will mention it. I hope that made sense. As far as the pictures, I thought they were great, I would just like to see a picture of the finished product.  have seen on some websites that they have a virtual layout of the items and you can move or turn it to see all the angles.Â
I hope I was able to clarify my answers a little better
Fantastic that does clarify things and I do understand exactly what you mean. Thanks mikib.
Visit https://www.fotofriend.com. What are your initial impressions?
1. Use of color – Everything is very bright, and very sharp. There is a good amount of contrast, and none of the colors used seem to clash or create a visual distraction.
2. Page layout – I’m not sure if this is intentional, but your splash/home page is almost identical to NetFlix. The color scheme (red background, white/cream get started box, the use of the mailbox in the “how it works process”. While this layout is familiar to many people, it gives me the feeling of a stock template
3. Company information – Even if it isn’t in the header, there should be a clear way, from the front page, to contact the company. Even putting your contact # in the footer is preferable to not having it exist as well. In addition, from both a consumer and SEM standpoint, I feel like the “what the company does” should be in plain text to make your service instantly identifiable. Even copying the meta-title text and place it in the page content (along with a call to action word, like “print” or “share”) should be sufficient. This would also help with keyword density and make your metadata relevant
4. Main Image – have you considered using a slider here? Maybe have 2-3 different products/specials/services that would be of interest to potential customers. Maybe one image for Photo Books, one for calendars, and one for framed canvas or something else
5. Other – It would be beneficial to have a sign-up or sign-in dialog right on the home page, without redirecting users to another page. This may be just me, but I feel like it allows for a quicker transition from call-to-action to action. I like the use of text over image links, and the amount of undecorated text. It makes things feel clear and uncluttered.
The product pages such as: https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas and https://www.fotofriend.com/photo-books are designed to be landing pages from search engines and paid ads. Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? Any comments on any specific product pages?
I think the product pages work very well as product pages. However, I’m not sure about their strength as a landing page. Again, there’s no statement of purpose or true call-to-action. For layout, the photo-book landing page has a very attractive layout, with multiple visual samples and representations.
Ideas for improvement: Right under “from $xx.xx”, have a “get started” button that directs customers to building their orders. It allows for a single-click call to action, instead of registering an account and then building an order. Also, creating an a href anchor for “view pricing” or “view specifications” may be useful for these product pages, as full pricing and construction details are on the bottom of the page. I like that you did not use tabbed navigation, as everything is “right there” for the consumer to see, but allow people to jump to the information they want or need quickly. Since product pages are fairly long, create another order/register/get started button on the bottom of the page. This will allow you to control the way the user interacts with your site.
How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements?
I really like the use of breadcrumbs, as well as the navigation bar/dock right on the header. Above the drop-down in the header, it may be helpful to have some sort of text, such as “Product Type” to clearly identify that there are more than just photo books available. I was on the page for over 15 minutes before I realized you did more than prints.
In the All Products page, is there any way to identify product types? You can use the category names from the drop down right on the page. This also has an SEM function, as it will create header-keywords right there in your page content. Also, if you haven’t already, try to give a hover-effect with images, like you do links. Since the page has a vaguely OS-X feel to it (kind of glossy, big icons, etc), having the images enlarge slightly a-la the Dock in OS-X could be very interesting.
Is signing in/signing up an easy process and can you think of ways to improve it?
Give an option to register a new account from the sign-in pop-up, or create a link for sign-up next to sign-in. I think the idea of using Facebook accounts is awesome, and it really creates a niche and added level of convenience. I’m not sure about the “free offer” badge next to sign up – after all, I don’t have to pay to register with SnapFish or any other online printing services. I like that the upper right-hand of the page (or account area) automatically updates after signing in, and the very quick, minimal-info signup is great. I don’t, however, think it’s a good idea to require customers to sign up before they can click to start creating a product.
Again, having a sign up/sign in dialog directly on the home page would be very nice.
Is the free offer: https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this?
I think this is a great offer, and it is something that could entice me to start using the service. From a standpoint of directing the flow of the sale, you aren’t really selling this offer, though. When a customer first creates an account, if not from this offer, why not direct them back to the “Free Offer” page to make sure they select it? I’m not crazy about idea of asking the customer to complete a second action (clicking the gift icon), after they’ve already completed one call to action. This is an unnecessary step. If, instead, the customer is directed to the “build a product” page when claiming a gift, you could up-sell and get the customer to purchase additional print or product.
What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good?
I’ve been sprinkling in suggestions throughout this review, but I’ll add a few. Keep in mind, the site itself is very polished and attractive. I’m just not convinced of the customer-friendliness
Why can I not start creating a product without choosing a size (canvases, posters, etc)? What if I’m unsure of the size to start? I know most people would just choose one anyway, and some will even go back and start over, but this another “little hurdle” (see the free gift) that can drive some potential customers away.
Also – little things to ponder:
– What about creating a progress bar to let the customer know, from start to finish, where they are in creating their product?
– A different home-splash page for logged in users? Maybe a list of recently purchased or suggested products instead of the “cold” call to action? Think about shopping at Amazon – once you’ve registered or looked at products, they’re targeting you on every page. This isn’t being done here, and it may either turn off some customers or lose potential sales.
– What is the FavIcon supposed to be?
– Are you intentionally creating an unconscious association with Hulu or Google/Picasa with the logo? You’re using Hulu-styled lettering with Google Chrome/Picasa coloration. If you are, that’s okay – but just keep in mind that some people may see this as uninspired or confusing.
– How do I contact you? What if I need help ordering?
Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not?
I enjoy the service, and I think you have a good mix of products. However, the lack of customer-focus on the page would make me hesitate to purchase. Even doing something as simple as adding a LiveZilla, Skype, or Google Talk widget would help immensely. There’s nothing on the page suggesting that you are there to help make the sale, or that you’re available for help, or anything like that.
Also, how does your service stack up to other online photo print companies? Are you wiling to help the consumer make an informed comparison? If it costs more, what value have you created for the customer? Quick shipping? High quality photo development? Great customer service? You can create value, or sell quality, right on product pages (maybe, receive your order within xxx days), etc.
Create a mounted canvas. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
The application wouldn’t fully load. I uploaded photos, but after that, I couldn’t drop the photo onto the canvas to get started.
Something that may be nice is to create a shortcut/button for Photo Effects right from the uploading page. Sure, it’s on your header, but after navigating the site for several minutes, I fail to notice the header.
Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
I honestly can’t comment on it, because I can’t get past selecting photos (see above), but that part was very easy and inuitive. It’s similar enough to Picasa/Snapfish that there’s little/no explanation required, but it’s also a novel service, which is nice.
Please share any general feedback.
Again, I’ve tried to sprinkle in relevant suggestions throughout my feedback, as I feel that it is more useful than having a laundry list at the end. The site is visually very attractive and well made, but it lacks the extra bits of “sales pitch” or “service pitch” to really relate to customers. The lack of ability to start an order without creating an account could be, I think, very damaging. Customers expect to register when they check out, not when they start browsing. Also, in the “How It Works” section, I think it would be helpful to have a short video tutorial on how easy it is to order, select a product, etc. This would allow for a chance to “sell” to your potential customer (see above) while also helping them.
Â
Visit https://www.fotofriend.com. What are your initial impressions?
My initial impression is that the main page could express more about the company and set it apart, there is not much to really draw you in.An ad/video would help create excitement and also be a good marketing tool (with a word about the company, information about why the service was started and what it provides, a quick overview of how to use the site and the ease/benefits of using it, “why join” featuring your guarantee or comparing it to other similar services)
as people could find it on a site such as youtube, facebook or vimeo and it could refer them to you.
The product pages such as:Â https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas andhttps://www.fotofriend.com/photo-books are designed to be landing pages from search engines and paid ads. Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? Any comments on any specific product pages?
I think they are well laid out and professional, and I am satisfied with the product pictures as well but it wouldn’t hurt to have more. It took me a moment to notice them on the canvas page as they weren’t linked to the main picture, which could be a problem for customers as they probably want to easily see multiple examples.
How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements?
The navigation is good at the top with the drop down menu, although it took me a minute to realize that the images/products change. It wasn’t very intuitive I guess. I really like the navigation at the bottom as it summarizes everything on the site.
Â
Is signing in/signing up an easy process
Signing in was very easy with facebook. And making an account looks easy as well, I like that it doesn’t ask for all the address and subscription information right away.
Â
Is the free offer: https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this?
The free offer is pretty appealing but not something I would go out of my way to get unless I was ordering something else or more into taking photos.Â
What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good?
In general I don’t think the layout of the site is that great, but it wasn’t terrible. I would say look at examples from your competitors that might help make the site more aesthetically pleasing like snapfish and canvasondemand.com because they seem very professional and intriguing .
Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not?
I might be interested in the products but I would like to create smaller sizes because many of my photos from facebook aren’t very high resolution or professionally made. Also I am single and have no children so that would probably impact my interest of ordering prints, because I don’t really know what to display and would probably rather hang art than any photos I have taken.
Create a mounted canvas. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
It was easy, and uploading was quick, I like all of the options to get photos from different places. I had some issues with resolution
so it would be nice to be able to click from one product to another in editing mode to see if something else would work,or quickly switch between canvas sizes from the page. Also I wanted to include more of the photo by shrinking/resizing the rectangle more to fit the canvas or moving it up and down but I couldn’t do that.
Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
It was very easy, I guess more print sizes would be nice.
Please share any general feedback.
All of the colors in your logo together are a bit unappealing, sometimes less is more in logo design. I would suggest changing the letters in foto all to the green color, and leaving friend as is. The red background is not necessarily bad but I don’t like the yellow text with it, so grey might work better with that.
I apologise for accidentally unbolding the last few questions. One last thing is that I don’t see an option to manage/delete your account on the site, perhaps because I didn’t use my email but used facebook instead. The only thing I see is a login, and I would like to know what my settings are on the site and how the information is stored.
Visit https://www.fotofriend.com. What are your initial impressions? When i first visit, what i thinking is that the top white color background is not that suitable. It looks blank when u color it on white. u can add a red color frame to list down the photo books, canvas, etc. I know ur business is about designing photobook for customer when i saw ur content picture. I have some suggestion for it. U can make it a slideshow, showing only ur impressive arts work. It can attract visitors interest. It doesn’t have to be many slides. 4-5 slides is enough. The slideshow will make people think that this site is professional. ur photo print by mail and etc, is really a great service. But the explanation of hw it works did not clear for me. I fist a little blur when i saw the pictures under the photo print by email. When i read the description i just understand it. I think u can improve some in here. U can make the size of pictures bigger to let people see it clearly. Or u can add this in the slideshow. Ur free offer doesnt look attractive to me. I think is because the way u promote it. I think u should add a enter email and password directly for the visitors then on top of it u add a free offer keyword. The word must be large and the color must be bright. in the bottom i saw others services u provide like greeting cards, iphone stickers, etc. All this is a great market tools. U should list it at the left side so people can saw that u actually have lots more options. U listed it at the bottom it’s least noticed by visitor and the keywords is small. Ur site is straight forward which is simple and easy to let visitors know what ur site about.
The product pages such as:Â https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas andhttps://www.fotofriend.com/photo-books are designed to be landing pages from search engines and paid ads. Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? Any comments on any specific product pages? The canvas page look too simple. It’s not professional enough. U can change the layout. If u have more information about it, u can add it. My suggestion is the way u show the sample pictures can be changed. Make it more stylish. Instead of showing it just like a normal picture. The background u should have some attractive color. Not white. White looks simple and blank. Maybe u can put it grey. The photo book page is good. It looks more professional. Show more abit ur sample work for people reference.
How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements? The navigation is fine. The explore all product, how it works and apply photo effect should list it in a more styled way. Don’t simply list it like a normal words. U can add a contact us feature which can allow visitors to enter email and msg directly send to u. This can keep u communicate with the visitors. It’s more convenient for the visitors. Other icons looks fine.
Is signing in/signing up an easy process and can you think of ways to improve it? Yes, it’s simple and easy. It is very convenient for the visitors. But i think u can directly let user enter email and password to sign in in the front page.
Is the free offer:Â https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this?
Yes, i will be interested. It’s free why not? U should promote it more. because when people see free thing they will eventually try it. U just need to make the customer have confidence with ur works. U nid to convince them to join. So maybe u can add ur company information. Make people have confidence on ur company. Show ur qualification if u have.
What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good? Okay, about the layout i hv mentioned it above. Most of it.
Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not?Yes, i would. Ur service is very good. It’s convenient to the public. I can simply print out any photo that i like from facebook. Which u really doing a great service and business.
Create a mounted canvas. Was that easy? What would make your experience better? Yes it’s easy. But u can provide instructions. This could make it more convenient.
Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better? This i definitely easy.
Please share any general feedback.
U can make ur sample works as ur background if it can be. Is not a bad idea. It make r site looks more professional. Ur badges in the bottom make the customer feel secure doing business with ur company. Which i really good. U just need to market ur free offer. If u market it well, many people have joined. Because everyone is playing facebook. Ur clients is all around the world. So, u have to market more on the free offer. Once people try it, I know they gonna like it. But make sure ur price wasnt that expensive. Because people can just save their photo and go to any shop and print it.
Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? Any comments on any specific product pages?
The page looks very professional and I like the layout.
How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements? It was easy and clear to navigate through the site and look at the different items on the page.
Â
Is signing in/signing up an easy process and can you think of ways to improve it? I found it eay to sign in process.
Is the free offer: https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this? Â
Free offers are always good to try products out. I believe this is very appealing.
What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good?
The general layout of the site is very pleasing to the eye and not cluttered.
Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not? I think with trying the free offer if the service is good then I would not hestiate to use this service.
Create a mounted canvas. Was that easy? What would make your experience better? This was a easy process and until I work with it a bit more I think this is okay.
Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
Since people are always putting pictures on facebook it would is the best idea fo people to get the copies they want to keep.
Please share any general feedback. Always looking for a good site to get good quality pictures.
Thanks myrii this feedback is excellent. I have noted down your major points and will be implementing these in the next version.
Â
Ben
Mattgsx, Thank you so much – you have provided me with some of the most useful feedback so far. I have noted down all your points and will be including many of them in the next release.
In answer to your questions: The favicon is supposed to be 2 Fs diagonally touching (Foto Friend)
With the logo: I was intentionally going for some sort of intentional association with modern internet services such as google, ebay etc. The logo may need to be further developed.
I apologize for the application not fully loading. I have seen that happen before and need to get to the bottom of it.
Thanks again,
Ben
Thanks for your feedback tthau2010. I have taken your comments on board and will be integrating your feedback into the next release.

Visit https://www.fotofriend.com. What are your initial impressions? The site looks a lot like the Netflix sign in page, a little much information.
The product pages such as: https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas andhttps://www.fotofriend.com/photo-books are designed to be landing pages from search engines and paid ads. Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? Any comments on any specific product pages? I liked the general layout. The only thing I am not a fan of is the font used to describe the product, specs etc. Perhaps a different font in a slightly bigger size would be more appealing. The current one makes the site look a little dated.
How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements? Relatively easy. I initially did not notice the top white bar thinking it was the ads bar! But after I got that figured out it was okay.
Is signing in/signing up an easy process and can you think of ways to improve it? It was fine.
Is the free offer: https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this? I think the wallet sheets with different prints is a cool idea. There are so many ways to make a photo card for free, I am not sure the third option is enticing enough.
What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good? I liked the overall feel, but not the too-netflixy feel of the colors, etc. The blue headings on the side clash with the red in the central area. The font size should be a bit bigger in narrative area, and the style could be revised for better readability.
Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not? I may use it to create gifts. But I may also comparison shop at Costco or other sites, just fyi. But this site looks promising!
Create a mounted canvas. Was that easy? What would make your experience better? I liked it, was easy.
Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better? Good, was easy.
Please share any general feedback. Good ideas, the website just needs some polishing up. Good luck!
Thanks ben, glad I could help. Good luck with the site 🙂

What are your initial impressions? Initially I was kind of drawn to the website. There a couple things that I really liked, especially being a mom. The first thing that I liked was that there was a picture of a man and a little girl. Though maybe for a teenage guy this might not mean much, it is appealing to the eye as a mother. It makes, if for no other reason, want to explore the website because you see a picture of a child and a man on there. It makes it seem more friendly, warm, and comforting. Stupid reason for some, but true for me. Also, I like the contrasting colors. Red and white are familiar colors, but also look great when they are up against each other. Anything that has the word “free” on it is going to get someones attention too. I think that it is a good way to get people to want to try the site. The last thing that I liked was the fact that it makes mention of facebook and how to get the pictures off that. Facebook is such a popular thing and anything that mentions it usually catches someones attention. Now for the negatives. In looking at the website, I do think that maybe it is a little too busy just for the initial view. While I do agree with all the information that is put on the page, I do think that some of the features could be listed on another page or even written as a list as opposed to pictures of everything. While I do understand that this may be visually stimulating for some, I do think that it takes away from the overall appearance of the website from the view points of others. So, just to clarify, by this I mean to remove “photo prints by mail and PLUS, create stickers & more” These features could be added to the list right below.
The product pages such as: https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas and https://www.fotofriend.com/photo-books are designed to be landing pages from search engines and paid ads. Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? WOW, I think they are very well laid out and appealing to the eye. Initially, I still think it is a very good use of color. Though simply, clean lines are nice and I am very drawn to it. Also, I like the simplicity of the lay out and how everything is right there to understand. And when I mean you can understand, that is exactly it. Just point and click. You get what you want and you’re done!
Any comments on any specific product pages? Well, just that they are all great. I actually think that my favorite part is the recommendations of where you would use the specific product. My only critique with that would be to maybe list different places. Maybe try to personalize it by for suggestions ex. Travel memoirs for grandmom, or Fun times with Daddy. Make examples of when to use it seasonally and I think that it would draw out more people to want to use for holidays as well as everyday use.
How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements? First of all, that part that I was saying that could be used as a list was the first thing on the top of the “How it works” button. This just further concludes my opinion that it doesn’t need to be on the bottom of the home page. With that said, I think that this website is very easy to navigate through. Honestly as far as navigation is concerned, I don’t really see how you could make it any easier. It is literally point and click, even down to the Share settings. I know that this website is used to critique the websites for you, but for the most part, I am finding many things that I like about it as opposed to the negatives.
Is signing in/signing up an easy process and can you think of ways to improve it? Sign in is very easy. I like the fact that you can use the same button to sign in whether you are using just your email or your facebook. At first I though that the button was just used for facebook until I created an account using just my email too. This makes it very easy for anyone to use this website. The only thing that I think may be a little confusing (only because it was for me at first) is that the facebook icon is right next to the sign in. I understand that this is because maybe the biggest target of your market may be for facebook, but not all people have it or want to use it. Because of this, people might just look at the icon and say “Well if this is the sign in for facebook, where is the regular sign-in?” Like I said, I do like that it is the same button, but I would recommend to consider removing the facebook icon from next to the sign-in. Really, there is no reason for it to be there, when someone clicks the button, they will see how to connect to facebook anyway. But, like I said, I do understand why it is there and as a facebook user, it definitely appeals to me more seeing the icon, especially when it is on the home page.
Is the free offer: https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this? YES!!! The free offer is very appealing. It is definitely something that I would like to do, and the idea of this sight is very appealing to me.
What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good? Okay, well here we go with the two HUGE negatives that I have about this website and layout, but this has to do with the function. I tried this both ways, using facebook and using email. I actually wanted to try it out because it is a site that I could see myself using. The problem that I had was being able to view the photos that I just uploaded. I use firefox on my computer, though I do have internet explorer, and for some reason it will not download adobe flash 10.1 while using firefox. I’m not really sure where the issue is, I am just a little bit irritated that I had to sign out, go on internet explorer and start the whole process all over again just so that I could something other than general prints. I guess maybe because I do not know that much about computers, that I’m confused why I could make pictures and stickers, but could not make a canvas or key chain without using adobe flash which I couldn’t download because of the fact that I was using firefox. Also, the other problem that I had, though it might be just becauase I couldn’t figure out how to do it, but I tried putting effects on the picture which worked like a charm, but I couldn’t figure out how to keep the picture the way it was and go back to the ordering page. It showed that it saved it, but I couldn’t go back to the page where I ordered. So, the solution to this I would think, would be to have a button called “My Folder” or “My Pictures”, clearly labeled. If there is one, I can’t find it. This would be a nice button to be able to view the pictures that you have saved, with all the effects, etc. And, like I said, I did look around the whole website, put in an order, etc, and I didn’t see a specific button to view the pictures that I already had uploaded. Just a suggestion.
Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not? Yes I would definitely use this service, but that is based on 2 things…the things that I mentioned in the above paragraph. I started writing this review while using firefox, so I didn’t click out of it yet to install adobe flash 10.1, but I’m hoping that when I do that, it will let me use this in firefox as well, because I LOVE the service that you are providing. And I do think that it would make the website and ordering pictures even easier if you had a button labeled “my pictures” and then from there had the option to highlight the picture and pick which function that you wanted to do. Just a suggestion, though I’m sure you have thought this out and there is a reason why it isn’t there (or not clearly labeled if it is there and I just can’t figure out how to do it…lol)
Create a mounted canvas. Was that easy? What would make your experience better? I’m very sorry that I wasn’t able to create the mounted canvas because I didn’t use internet explorer, but I did create some stickers and also some prints in 3.5×5 and 4×6. Please do not disregard or reward me because I didn’t do a canvas because I did really look around and have spent almost an hour and a half on just looking around and reviewing your website.
Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better? Now this my browser let me do and this was SUPER easy. I LOVE this feature. OMG….how could this be any better!!!! I love that you could go to all your friends, not even just the ones that you tagged. This was great and SOOOO easy. Just pick the ones that you want and order. Plus, it was great that you already recommended to the size that works better for facebook pictures!
Please share any general feedback. In all…besides the fact that I couldn’t install adobe flash(which is not your fault, just the browser and made it a little irritating) this is one of the best websites I have EVER used for pictures. Better than any software I have ever had for cameras. This is a wonderful website and I am currently bookmarking it and saving it as one of my favorites. I hope that my comments were both flattering and constructive. KUDOS to the creator. You are definitely making peoples lives easier!!!!
Visit https://www.fotofriend.com. What are your initial impressions?
My initial impression of the site is that it intrigued me immediately because I love pictures and I’m always finding ways to create albums, new photo frame gifts or decor for my home, give away photos and this site seems to do that and more in a different way than other sites with the same service.
The product pages such as: https://www.fotofriend.com/mounted-canvas and https://www.fotofriend.com/photo-books are designed to be landing pages from search engines and paid ads. Do you think they are well laid out and the products look professional? Any comments on any specific product pages?
I think the are well laid out and organized in a neat and clean format. There isn’t too much information to overwhelm the customer or too many options provided all at once. However, I think it would be optimal if each sample photo book provided could be clickable in order to see it up close and how each page would look in actuality.
I would suggest the same for the canvas, for example, you could show a canvas photo would actually look on a wall. I think there is nothing better than real look examples of products for online shoppers. It gives them a better view and feel about purchasing something online.
The products are presented in a very professional manner to where I would immediately know this is a legitimate site with a legitimate product to sell.
How do you find the navigation? Is it easy and clear? Can you suggest improvements?
It is easy to navigate and move around easily, however, I would change the place of these links in sectional tabs at the top of the page. I found the top of the page a bit too cluttered. I would suggest moving the links: “explore all products, how it works, apply photo effects and the drop down box” and making them “tabs” instead where a customer can click into and get more information about each specific link. So the focus becomes the products featured at the top of the page and the name of the site (should be a lot bigger).
Is signing in/signing up an easy process and can you think of ways to improve it?
I signed in through facebook and I found it a 1-2-3 process, in other words, it was super easy to sign in without problems. I landed directly on the products page which I thought was a good place to begin.
Is the free offer: https://www.fotofriend.com/free-offer appealing? Would you be interested in this?
Yes. It is appealing because the offer is for products that everyone wants at one point or another, if not prints or wallets a photo card is a great idea and everyone could use a free gift like this one. I tried claiming the gift but the page did not direct me to purchasing postage or entering my address or further directions to get the gift. Unsure if this is a beta site.
What do you think of the general layout of the site? Is it appealing, or can you suggest some changes that would be good?
As already mentioned previously, I would make the name of site bigger and take out the links and the drop down box and reposition them horizontally below the top section as tabs. It helps the site look more organized and not so cluttered at the top. It also allows the user/customer to focus on products shown at the top of the page.
I am not sure I like the red background because when I see the red and the mailbox at the box of the page I think of Netflix. Unless, you’re related to netflix a customer may not like that you’re using the same colors or concept but with photos instead. It wouldn’t be original.
The products page should be more organized in a grid or list manner. The products seem to be randomly placed on the page without any specific organization.
Would you use this service? If so, why and if not, why not?
Yes, because I like the products. I like being able to customize my own gifts with photos of my choice. It’s a great idea and it lets the customer have more control over its own purchase. It’s a fun experience.
Create a mounted canvas. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
Yes. It was very easy. I was able to get the goal done without instructions because it was so user friendly. I like the icons representing photo editing. I would only suggest adding different views of the final product on the “preview” to give the customer different looks to the canvas not just one angle and also is there an “add text” feature to ALL the designs? Can you add graduation, love, animals to your other categories drop down?
Create some prints from Facebook photos. Was that easy? What would make your experience better?
Wow…that was very easy. Once I clicked print facebook photos it was very user friendly. There were no need for instructions because the highlighted icons/labels guide the user to the next step. I liked seeing the “checkout” box highlighted in green once my selection was made so as to indicate what my next step should be.
My experience would be better if the “skip uploading” print from facebook link would be bigger. Since it’s on the right and in small print someone could easily miss it and not see that option.
Please share any general feedback.
I have to say I really like your concept and how easy and FUN it was to customize photos and photo gifts. There was a variety of products and designs to choose from and a variety of prices to allow everyone to purchase something. I especially enjoyed the advanced editor because it gave me even more options to play with pictures, customize them, edit them and add humor to it in a very fun way. I would like to see travel mugs in your products because although this has been done already, I could edit a picture with special effects and humor, add bubbles, etc and put it on the mug which is something I haven’t seen. Love your site…bookmarking it as we speak!
Hi laney22bc,
Â
Thank you so much for this feedback. It is extremely encouraging to me to hear that you enjoyed your experience on the site, despite your Firefox flash installing issues. The site is definitely designed to work in Firefox, in fact it’s my favorite browser. The installation of flash can be a hurdle, but hopefully next time you open the browser it will just work.
Â
Your suggestions are excellent and I will be implementing many of them in the next version.
Â
You are getting the award despite your issues with creating a canvas. Thanks again for your feedback.

Ben
Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it.
Thank you very much Orchid7: your feedback has been very constructive and I will be taking many of your ideas, particularly those concerning layout and flow, and putting them into the next version.
Â
To answer your question, not all designs have an “add text” feature – only those with a designated text element. This is something we could look at improving in the future. Also travel mugs will be coming in a future release, along with about 15 more products.
Â
When you claim a free gift it shows a message box with an “add now” link, however this may not be in-your-face enough and may need to be made clearer.
Â
Thanks again, your feedback has truly been very informative.
