About F.A.D.:
The objective of F.A.D is to create an awareness to increase customers knowledge of the importance of using social media networks and location-based services to connect with, and continue to support local franchises. Customers will be able to enjoy a day in support of their favorite franchises by receiving discounts, giveaways, etc, and franchisors will be able to show appreciation to the customers that support their business year-round.
I think this is a very effective way to advertise these businesses. Advertising today is expensive and with a weak economy it’s hard to get people in the door. Businesses need to find new and creative ways to advertise in order to draw customers in. While the traditional ways like TV and radio are still effective they can be costly for the company and quite risky. How many people will you reach?
This is effective because it will spread like crazy to the internet community and people will see the website and crave the food these restaurants have to offer. The potential of people it could reach is undetermined but could be a tremendous number.
The website itself is very user friendly, colorful, inviting and eye catching. People will remember it and return to it.
What do you think of the website? (Do you understand what it’s about)?
I like it, I think this is a fantastic idea! Yes I understand what the site is about. The site explains it clearly.
Click on “Participate†at the top and fill out the form. When you hit submit you will get to a screen for you to share with your friends, what do you think of that process in making it go viral?
I got the page that said about sharing but I didn’t understand how to do it on that page. I think this would be a great way to make this site go viral.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
On the main page the scrolling text goes just a little too fast for me. That is my only complaint about this site.
I like the idea of a establishment honoring me for a day. I really like this site. I think this is cool.
What do you think of the website? (Do you understand what it’s about)?
I felt that the speed of the flash images was too quick. Especially to read the paragraph explaining the purpose of the site. Other than that the site design was fun, clean, and easy to follow.
Click on “Participate†at the top and fill out the form. When you hit submit you will get to a screen for you to share with your friends, what do you think of that process in making it go viral?
I think the layout and the form was quite easy to complete. If I received an invite from a friend, I would definitely participate; however if it was my first time on the site I would have a difficult time understanding what my “participation” entailed. Key phrases like “Get Coupons & Free Stuff” or even a stationary listing of the participating franchises (I did notice the scrolling list but that’s because I was looking for it) would help this campaign go viral quickly. Extreme couponing is a huge trend and although the discounts may not be the key motive behind this campaign, it will be the key motive of those participating. Any efforts made by FAD to highlight the potential discounts and savings participants will receive will help site traffic.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
I think the idea is wonderful and can definitely go viral – especially if FAD connects with some of these extreme couponing websites who are always sending offers out to their subscribers to participate. The site is clean and very easy to follow, I would just focus on some of the grab words like discount, coupons, and free. Also I don’t know if the meta-tags for the scrolling image of participating franchises are set up , so if someone is searching for Golden Krust coupons – would this website come up as a hit? Another reason why a stationary, plain text list of the participating companies would be a good idea. Best wishes!

What do you think of the website? (Do you understand what it’s about)?
This website is to promote, and support your favorite franchise. It appears to be Sept. 3, 2011. Question: Will this website continuously countdown to the following year’s franchise day or is it just for the 2011 franchise appreciation day?
Click on “Participate†at the top and fill out the form. When you hit submit you will get to a screen for you to share with your friends, what do you think of that process in making it go viral?
Done. I have done this without signing into Twitter or Facebook. I do not know if this will go viral if I do not sign in with these two services.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
When I registered, and clicked submit, the page didn’t refresh. Im not sure if my information took. Is it supposed to refresh?
I don’t see any obvious usability issues or glitches on your website.
I wish there were some examples of discounts or coupons that participants get from registering on this website.
I’m a little confused. Are we only supposed to vote for already participating franchises or are we supposed to nominate one?

What do you think of the website? (Do you understand what it’s about)?
The website was very appealing. It did not overwhelmed me when I first open up the site. However, it took me a moment to realize to read the “facts” on the opening page before they started to fade away. Yes, I believe I understand what this webpage is selling. I believe it was selling the advantage of owning a franchise or spending your money there.
Click on “Participate†at the top and fill out the form. When you hit submit you will get to a screen for you to share with your friends, what do you think of that process in making it go viral?
I did not have an account to tweet but did have a facebook account. Not sure if this website will go viral unless you have one or both of the accounts
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
I still like the website. Some websites are confusing and have too many options on the page. I would still note that I did not start reading the information that faded away until about the third one. However, I did note that the information cycle through.

I visited the site and my first thought on seeing the homepage was, that the site is to promote customer appreciation days. It looks like franchises may register with the site to promote their own days, or one general day that all of the registered company’s follow.
What do you think of the website? (Do you understand what it’s about)?
I am now reading the site and it appears the site is to appreciate franchises and what they do for a community. The fact they bring jobs to an area, and the customer can receive discounts and special deals if they visit participating franchises in their area. Clicking on the links shows that franchises need to use more social networking programs to promote their business more. It appears the franchise signs up their location and customers use special apps to receive discounts and giveaways at the location of their choosing.
Click on “Participate†at the top and fill out the form. When you hit submit you will get to a screen for you to share with your friends, what do you think of that process in making it go viral?
The process to sign up is quick and easy, but I don’t like the fact of having to give my phone number. I understand it’s for the use of the apps, but if you don’t have a smartphone it’s not really necessary as you can’t download any apps anyway. I don’t really think using some users own Facebook or Twitter will make it go viral, as there are some people who do not have that many followers on Twitter or Facebook; and even if a customer is interested, it won’t necessarily entice their followers or friends. Otherwise, it’s an interesting and innovative idea to use social media as a marketing tool, even though some of these franchises are already well known. It would be a great tool for a newer one, or lesser known franchise. I think it would take more than using people’s facebook or twitter to make it go viral.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
I do like the concept of the site, using social media is a good idea for marketing, but it won’t necessarily make the idea go viral. The site itself is clean and colorful and all information is easy to find. It might be a good idea to make it a bit clearer on the homepage what the site is about, because at first it seems like it’s an appreciation day for customers, not for both.

What do you think of the website? (Do you understand what it’s about)?
First of all I think the website looks great and inviting. The site is colorful which engages me straight away.
Â
However I find all the constantly changing text on the home page a little bit too much to take in all at once. I’m trying to read it and take it in and before you know it your bombarded with more text and more text. The first section of text that explains what the site is about disappears way too fast and I don’t have time to fully read it before the next section of text appears. I would like to be able to pause the text so I have time to read it properly.
Â
From what I can gather the site is about promoting the participating franchises and users/members being able to receive discounts and freebies from franchises that are participating in this site/program.
Â
From the sites name, Franchise Appreciation Day and the home page I gather it’s only a one day promotion which is being held on Saturday 3rd of September.
Â
Click on “Participate†at the top and fill out the form. When you hit submit you will get to a screen for you to share with your friends, what do you think of that process in making it go viral?
The sign up process was quick although I wasn’t too sure why you ask for a phone number, unless you send coupons via text message or you send an app. If that’s the case then maybe in brackets you could add (so we can send you coupons direct to your cellphone) or (so we can send you the app to receive your discounts). I would feel more comfortable giving out my phone number if I knew why you needed it. Also if this is done via an app then I think you should tell the user as I don’t have a smart phone. If this is the case then this would be absolutely no use to me and I wouldn’t have signed up.
Â
I think the sharing idea is good although I only have a facebook account not a twitter account and I think there are many people in the same situation. The only button that came up for me to share this was a “tweet” button. Where is the facebook “like” or “share” button? If you need a twitter account as well then I think you are limiting your market.
Â
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
If the coupons/discounts/freebies are given out via a phone app then I think you are limiting your market. There are still a lot of people out there without smart phones, like me. Make you could also send out deals via a text message coupon.
Â
Thank you for your feedback.
I’ll see about slowing down the message scroll a little.
Thank You!
Great Feedback… I will implement some of your suggestions.
Thank You!

Hello to answer your questions:
Question: Will this website continuously countdown to the following year’s franchise day or is it just for the 2011 franchise appreciation day?
Every year it will countdown for each year. We are looking to do this annually.
When I registered, and clicked submit, the page didn’t refresh. Im not sure if my information took. Is it supposed to refresh?
The form should have refreshed after you hit submit. What browser are you using?
I don’t see any obvious usability issues or glitches on your website.
– Awesome!
I wish there were some examples of discounts or coupons that participants get from registering on this website.
– Closer to the day, we will list giveaways by Franchise
I’m a little confused. Are we only supposed to vote for already participating franchises or are we supposed to nominate one?
– No Voting
Thank you for your feedback
That’s not the take away I want consumers to have. It’s about Franchisees showing appreciation to their consumers an consumers showing appreciation for franchises. Building and Strengthening the relationships between consumers and franchisees.
Â
We already have all the share buttons on the top of the website, so we didn’t want to overwhelm them with more share buttons. But I guess If I do one (twitter) i might as well do them all.
Â
Thank you!
Thank you for your feedback….
Thank you, we will take some of those into consideration.

What do you think of the website? (Do you understand what it’s about)?
The site is bright, colorful and has an appealing design, although even with the description on the front page I’m still not entirely sure what it’s about. I guess “franchise” refers to restaurant chains, correct? After looking around for a minute, it appears the site is simply a way to sign up for promotional offers from franchise restaurants, although only 3 participating franchises are shown, so hopefully my inbox wouldn’t be completely swamped with unwanted promotional emails.
Click on “Participate†at the top and fill out the form. When you hit submit you will get to a screen for you to share with your friends, what do you think of that process in making it go viral?
Starting with the “Participate” page, I actually overlooked the sign up area the first time I visited the page. Even though it’s the main content of the page, its placement on the side makes it less noticeable, and the area that primarily attracted my attention was the circle with the rotating franchise logos.
A few things about the sign up form that bother me: why do I need to provide my mobile number? Will I be getting unwanted text messages or phone calls? I’d appreciate some sort of text explaining why that information is needed, and how it will be used. Without an explanation, it seems very suspicious.
Also, the age field seems slightly odd to me. I’m not used to typing in my age on a contact form, and the field for the form is much too large for the purpose. I can’t imagine many users needing to enter more than 2 digits for their age. I think a dropdown selector with a range of ages like “20-29”, “30-39” would be easier to use. Also, the field for City/Zip Code doesn’t quite make sense: should I be entering the name of my city along with the zip code? Or just the zip code? And if I need to enter the city name, should I include the state too? It’s not clear. As it is, I entered only my zip code.
I also find the “Favorite Franchises” text field odd. I’m still not completely clear what we’re defining as “franchise” on this site. If I entered “Dunkin Donuts”, “McDonalds”, “Burger King”, Outback Steakhouse”, “Macaroni Grill”, would those be appropriate entries? There really isn’t much on the site to specify what kind of franchise we’re referring to.
I hit the Submit button, and the message that appears has a few small details that need attention: “labor day” should be capitalized, and the last sentence is worded awkwardly. Flipping the sentence around to say “Share this with 3 friends to receive extra FREE giveaways” might make it more readable. Also, I notice there are Facebook Like and Send buttons, and a Tweet button, but no Google +1 button, even though a +1 button is included at the top of the page. Seems incongruous.
I don’t have a Twitter account, but the process of liking this site on Facebook was easy and straightforward.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
I’ll start with the home page: while bright and playful, it doesn’t do a great job of explaining what this site is all about. I didn’t notice for several minutes that the little buildings in the image say “Saturday, September 3rd”, and there is no other text on the page that enforces this point, so I wasn’t clear when this day was actually taking place. Just placing “Saturday, September 3” in the page title would be helpful.
Also on the home page, I don’t like the fact that the message above the shops image changes every 5 or 6 seconds. It’s hard to read the site description before it disappears and is replaced by a somewhat useless factoid about franchises.
I initially thought the headings on the home page titled “Franchises”, “News Feed” and “Partners” were links, as there is no style difference between these words and the actual links on the page. And on the subject of links, I had a hard time finding the main set of links, and I wasn’t expecting them to be on the very top of the page. I clicked on the large “Franchise” and “Participate” buttons in the center of the page, and even tried clicking on the little storefront images, before I found the links at the top. I also don’t see the point in including the same list of links at the bottom of the page. It just seems unnecessary.
The links to the Twitter and Facebook pages on the right side are very easy to overlook, and with the Facebook Like and Send buttons and Tweet button already at the top of the page, in addition to the embedded Twitter feed on the bottom of the page, it feels like the site is a little desperate in its desire to be promoted on social networks.
The name of the “Franchise” page is somewhat confusing, although I don’t know what a better name would be. I clicked on the “Franchise” link expecting to see a list of the franchises participating, but they’re actually listed on the “Particpate” page, under “Participating Franchises”. Kind of confusing. On both the Franchise and Participate pages, the sign up form crammed to the right is very easy to overlook.
Finally, on the contact page, it again seems odd that “Number” (I assume it refers to phone number)Â is a required field. How will this information be used? A simple privacy policy on the site would make it seem much more reputable.
Overall, I think the site has a solid design and an interesting concept, although it still feels like yet another way to get me to sign up for unwanted emails from marketers. With a few thoughtful changes to clarify the purpose of the site and to assure users of their privacy, it could be a very successful site.
What do you think of the website? (Do you understand what it’s about)?
The website is clean and easy to navigate, which is nice. I understand that the website encourages consumers to sign up so that they can take advantage of special deals that franchises will offer on September 3rd. It also aims to inform consumers and franchise owners about the Franchise Appreciation Day. The website encourages franchise owners to participate.
The text on the main page confused me for a moment. I feel as though it should read: We are celebrating franchises and allowing you, the consumer, to enjoy a day in support of your favorite franchises by receiving Discounts and Giveaways. Adding the commas will increase clarity that the website is for consumers as well as franchise owners. Honestly, the sentence is a tad awkward overall and you may want to revisit it to make it a little clearer.
It would be nice to have a FAQs page where the facts that scroll on the homepage can be easily accessed and read all at once, instead of waiting for the page to scroll. It would also be nice to see a list of participating franchises, instead of the scrolling bubble.
Click on “Participate†at the top and fill out the form. When you hit submit you will get to a screen for you to share with your friends, what do you think of that process in making it go viral?
The form is simple and easy to complete. However, once completed, I don’t see a “Share with Friends” or any related link by which I could receive the mentioned extra credit for sharing with people I know. I think the website could potentially go viral if the deals on September 3rd were quite good. It may be worth showing exactly what kind of deal one could expect to receive. It may also be nice to have a “top three” so that people could choose which group from which they’d like to receive deals. As of now, I am not likely to share this website with friends since I don’t know what to expect on September 3rd.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
I would say that the website is a good start but needs some tweaking to make it great. I didn’t receive a “Share with Friends” message when I signed up (and I don’t have an ad blocker). I would also like to see a simple FAQs page with the facts mentioned on the homepage, as well as a list of participating franchises. I would also like to know the kind of giveaways and discounts one could expect for giving out such information as an email and phone number (I’m not a fan of giving out my phone number on websites). I don’t understand the difference between “Partners” and “Franchises”, so maybe make that a tad clearer. I am looking forward to hearing more about the discounts and giveaways, but I don’t think that I’ll be sharing the website with friends until I know more about what discounts and deals will be sent out.
Good luck! 🙂

Done.
What do you think of the website? (Do you understand what it’s about)?
The website is beautilly done. It has vibrant colors, great detailing and visually hits right home to the name of your website in its layout design. I like that your website is fun and inviting and that it makes you want to explore what your site offers. I thought that the scrolling information was a little to fast. You really have some nice facts but trying to read them proved a bit of a challenge. Your site is about supporting franchises.
Click on “Participate†at the top and fill out the form. When you hit submit you will get to a screen for you to share with your friends, what do you think of that process in making it go viral?
I liked that your clearly explained what the “participate” section was all about. Also with the scrolling franchise names that keeps people interested in what possible free items and discounts maybe received from these well names companies. Okay, signing up was easy and it came with a nice message attached to it on how to receive more free stuff by sharing.
The labor day in your message needs to be capitialized. I would also consider rewording the last sentence. Share this with 3 friends to receive extra free giveaways.
After this franchise appreciation day will your site automatically post he next date or have some type of countdown till next year?
Under the participate sign up page you asked for a person’s mobile number, will customers be getting text on possible offers? Or calls about promotions? I would like to know what the purpose of that. I also see that you asked for age. Is this that some offers are fror adults only? Or for demographic company purposes?
At the very bottom of your sign up section you have a white box under the submit tab. I would consider taking it out being that it serves no purpose and it made me think I should be entering inforamtion there like the rest of the tabs.
What is the reason for the zip code? Again these seem like demographic question and the way it’s set up looks a little odd. Â
I don’t have a facebook or twitter account but the options of spreading this word is quit simple and easy to do.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
Under the partners section you wrote, “With that in mind, we want to invite you to be a key sponsor of our Franchised Appreciation Day, which will be held on September 3rd, 2011 (Labor Day Weekend).” I would take off the “D” on franchised because now you have called it something else and this is the appropiate use of capitalization of Labor Day this is missing on your sign up page under participate.
You also wrote, “I am Andre Kay, CEO of Sociallybuzz- the company behind Franchise Appreciate Day. ” Again your calling the day something different. It needs to have consistent titling throughout your website.Â
I find this sentece to be to wordy, “The objective of F.A.D is to create an awareness to increase customers knowledge of the importance of using social media networks and location-based services to connect with, and continue to support local franchises.”
I would consider something like. The objective of F.A.D is to create an increase of customers knowledge of using social media networks and location-based services to connect with, and continue to support their local franchises.Â
Your wrote, “How does it work?
(What will happen on franchise Appreciation day)” The F and D need to captialized. Consistency.
Your wrote, “14 Days before F.A.D we will walk you through on setting up a specific deal on Foursquare and Facebook Places.” The “on” in this sentence is not necessary. It stands just fine without it and has a better flow.
I would like to have seen some of the information under this how does it work section on the participate info. You have the words (check in) and I really don’t understand how are supposed to know how participate in getting free stuff. A sample of what you mean would be nice.
I find the color on the contact page to a little to white washed for me, it was almost blinding.       Â
There needs to be consisent titling of one of your tabs. Under the Sponsors tab you have it labled Partners. That can be a little confusing.             Â
All in all you have a nice fun site.
What do you think of the website? Do you understand what its about?)
I like the idea that we can help compliment and reward companies/franchises for doing a job well done. Â A lot of times companies will hear the negative aspect of customers, so it should be nice to reward them. Â
The site itself is very well laid out. Â I love the use of bold colors…its easy to navigate through.
Click on “Participate” at the tip and fill out the form.  When you hit submit you will get to a screen for you to share with your friends  What do you think of the process in making it go viral?
The process was extremely easy. Â I’m not always sure my friends will like what I like, so I typically don’t “share”. Â However it would be easy to share with the Facebook and Twitter logos right there. Â
After I hit submit the form tells me the date then says its Labor Day weekend. Â I would capitalize Labor Day since its a National Holiday. Â Not sure if i’m grammatically correct in saying so though!
Pleas share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
What do you think of the website? (Do you understand what it’s about)?
First off, I am SUPER excited about this site!! Â My parents own a franchise and I am the Media Manager for the business and THIS is just what I am looking for!! Â So I am so happy to have bounced upon this little gem!! Â
Beyond that, I do understand what the site is. Â It did take me a while to figure it out however, my thought process was — “does this site offer info about different franchises? it is an ongoing site? Â OH! Â Its just to promote a 1 day a year occurance … OK!!”
I also, like a lot of the feedback you have already received, believe the banners are a bit too quick, especially the rotating “franchise facts” banner at the top. Â I like the colors and the feel of this site, the use of white space and pictures vs. text usage is spot on. Â The cute store fronts w/colorful awnings make it feel inviting! Â Good job!
Click on “Participate†at the top and fill out the form. When you hit submit you will get to a screen for you to share with your friends, what do you think of that process in making it go viral?
I think this is a great way to connect people to this event. Â The use of the social media icons hovering on the right with the big 2 FB and Twitter welcome people to share this, even though they might not want to sign up. Â The form was simple, straight forward and to the point. Â I liked it. Â Very intuitive.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
I cant wait to get the go ahead from my parents to register as a franchisee, Im really excited about it! Â
One item to note, when I click on the email icon from the sign up page under ‘Participate’ nothing happened. Â This might be a bug.
Hello Matt,
To answer some of the questions you asked..
Â
I guess “franchise†refers to restaurant chains, correct?
Not just restaurant chains, but any franchise business which falls into multiple different categories.
Â
Why do I need to provide my mobile number? Will I be getting unwanted text messages or phone calls?
First thing, based on your feedback and other feedback on here, we made it so the “mobile number” is NOT a requirement. We ask for the number so for consumers that doe not have a smart phone can receive text that day ONLY regarding specials.
Should I be entering the name of my city along with the zip code? Or just the zip code?
City, Zip Code or both. I also just added a brief explanation on why we need this information.
Â
Yes those franchises are the appropriate response.
Â
I hit the Submit button, and the message that appears has a few small details that need attention: “labor day†should be capitalized, and the last sentence is worded awkwardly. Flipping the sentence around to say “Share this with 3 friends to receive extra FREE giveaways†might make it more readable. Also, I notice there are Facebook Like and Send buttons, and a Tweet button, but no Google +1 button, even though a +1 button is included at the top of the page. Seems incongruous.
– Yes we will be making all the necessary changes you suggested regarding “Labor Day”, Flipping the sentence around, and adding the facebook like/send button beside the twitter button.
Â
We slow down the rotating message on the home page. We will also be adding a FAQ and Policy Page.
Â
Truly Appreciate the feedback.
Hello,
Yes we will be adding a FAQ page as well as a privacy page.
Once we start loading all the other participating franchises on the site, we will be putting more of a static layout of all the participating franchises on the participate page.
Closer to the date is when we will release the deals that each franchisee will be giving.
Â
Thank you!
Â
Hello Latasha,
We will be making all the necessary changes you suggested regarding “Labor Dayâ€, and Flipping the sentence around.
Â
After this franchise appreciation day will your site automatically post he next date or have some type of countdown till next year?
Yes it will have the countdown for next year.
Under the participate sign up page you asked for a person’s mobile number, will customers be getting text on possible offers? Or calls about promotions?
For consumers that does not have a smartphone, so they can also receive any extra deals specific franchises might want to give out.
I would like to know what the purpose of that. I also see that you asked for age. Is this that some offers are for adults only? Or for demographic company purposes?
So we can send appropriate info regarding specific deals for Franchise Appreciation Day.
What is the reason for the zip code?
So we can send you deals of franchises near you.
Â
Also all the verbiage and sentence changes you mentioned above, we correct them.
Â
Thank you.
