About Frently:

Frently offers users the chance to put themselves and their skills, knowledge, talents, expertise, wisdom, interests, and almost everything else they are capable of doing, up for “rent”. From platonic friendships, just a friend to go shopping with, to someone to teach you to play guitar or a dance partner for an event, you can rent all sorts of people on Frently.

We saw a need for this type of service because there are too many dating sites that match people by interests, hobbies, etc. but there aren’t any of these services to find people for anything else including just a platonic friendship. Nowadays, people have busy and hectic lives and rarely have time to make any new acquaintances and do or learn new things, so we created a service to make this instant and very accessible to anyone.

  1. Do you understand what the site is about just by looking at the home page?

No at first glance it looks like a social network site. Even after reading a couple of things on the site its even more difficult to understand. Some can go even further and say it might look more like a “find a hooker” site.

  2. At first glance the homepage is really busy, just too much going on.  I get the fact that you are tyring to display everything without clicking through.  I agree it does look like social network site and the concept of “renting” someone seems weird.  The overall conept seems legit, but I’m not sure it can stand alone, it might be a cool app for facebook, that way you are tapping into your own network and finding out unique skills and talents of your friends.  If this is supposed to be the next concept of dating, well it reminds me of the movie “can’t buy me love”.

  3. Do you understand what the site is about just by looking at the home page? I have to admit, I did not, to gain a thorough understanding, I had to look at the How It Works page.
What do you think the website will be used for by members? To find and offer friendship, lessons, or any other thing or item a person may require another able-bodied person for.
Would you “rent” someone for an activity? I guess that would totally depend on what, where and who.  If I were needing someone’s assistance for something, before I would trust that person, I would probably need enough information from them to do a background search.
Does the concept of “renting” someone seem familiar or foreign? Familiar.  I don’t think it’s a new concept, just new play on words.
Would you sign up for a Pro account? If a Pro account would guarantee that the person I wish to rent would come with a 100% guarantee as to their background, yes.
What do you dislike about the service? Like? I’m afraid it might not be taken seriously.  I am afraid that people may not follow through with their service.
