  1. Answers based on feedback sought:

    1) Konkura is a website designed to build a community of global competitors to promote fitness and healthy competition among people all over the world.
    2) The Konkura logo and orange link boxes at the top left corner of the home page caught my eyes first. The website looks well designed. Not too much clutter. I like seeing different challenges on the home page. It creates interest and gets visitors to check out what interests them. I clicked on “The Push Ups in One Minute Challenge”. There is a leaderboard and a comments section. I like that.
I also like the introduction video on the right hand side of the home page. I clicked the “Find Challenges” button. First challenge I noticed was the “How many socks can you get on your foot in 1 minute”. That sounds interesting. Almost like a Minute to Win It challenge.
I don’t find anything bothersome on the site.
To get involved in a challenge, I would need to sign up and join. The button to join is easy to find.
    3) I found it very easy to find a challenge that I like. Referring back to the How many pushups in one minute challenge, this interests me and I found it right away. In less than 1 minute on the site. I had no problems whatsoever finding and know how to get involved with the challenge.
    4) Additional Feedback: I like the orange on black color scheme. I did not particularly care for the Google ads on various pages, just because it makes the site look less professional. I am referring to the google ad box with 3 or more links on the sidebar. This is very common to see on blogs and such and I wouldn’t expect to see this on a premium site. I think the concept behind the Konkura site is great and a fun way to get people excited about exercise and fitness.

  2. The site itself is about excerise. I don’t think that the information is easily read into. A person would have to figure out what is really offer and the point is or message to join this site. The message needed to be clearly stated.

  3. My first impression of the site is that individuals can take part in fitness-related challenges, competing against other site users.

Looking at the site in more depth, it comes across as busy, but clearly laid out and easy to navigate. New challenges are clearly shown. Going to the ‘find challenges’ page, it appears that there are a lot of categories which do not have any challenges in them. I clicked a fair few of these, and came to the conclusion that you had to register to see challenges, before clicking on a couple that had challenges available. The sign-up form looks simple and clear, which would encourage people to join; long forms with a lot of questions can be quite off-putting.

I found it easy to choose challenges, and there were clear buttons to enable me to join one if I wanted.

The only drawbacks I found were that some pages were fairly slow to load.

  4. Right away from your home page you can tell it has to do with sports. I like the main page it says alot just by the pictures. It is easy to find your way through the varies challenges. It is easy and well explained. I like the fact that is free and it is open to all sports. The idea to make up your own challenges is a awesome idea. I think it is a fun way to get people to enjoy sports and exercise for pleasure, fun or for health.

  5. •Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about?

The site is about making sports and fitness more fun and create a little competition between the members

•Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What sticks out? What do you find bothersome? Do you understand what to do/how to get involved?

I like the colors, it easy on the eyes. Some sites are hard to find what you need because of the colors. What caught my eye right away was the featured challenges and the current challenges that keep changing.

•Imagine you are looking to do some exercise or training for your favourite sport or exercise – did you find it easy to find a challenge of interest, and did you have any problems getting involved?

To find a challenge, it was very easy. That is one of the sections that caught my eye on this site. I also found it easy to click on any of the featured challenges but could only go so far since I was not a member
•Please share any additional feedback/comments on the concept or the site you might have.

I think the only think I didn’t care for where the help and feedback keys are located. Sometimes when my computer is slow, I would hit on of these buttons by mistake

  6. 1. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about?

I think the site is presented well. I can tell that the site is about fitness and different fitness challenges. The site isn’t cluttered and appears to be easy to navigate through.

    2. Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What sticks out? What do you find bothersome? Do you understand what to do/how to get involved?

What stuck out most for me was the logo and the fitness pictures and video when I first went to the site. The expert challenge is what I noticed next as I began to scroll down the page. I immediately clicked on the expert challenge to find out more. I am really into fitness, going to the gym, and switching up my work outs that all the expert challenge and all the other challenges stuck out. I like how the site isn’t too cluttered and has just enough information on the homepage to keep a person busy without being too overbearing.
I didn’t see anything on the site that was bothersome, however, I didn’t get the grass background.

Yes, I understand how to do the challenges. I find them easy to understand.

    3. Imagine you are looking to do some exercise or training for your favourite sport or exercise – did you find it easy to find a challenge of interest, and did you have any problems getting involved?

I found it easy to do a sport or exercise. I found all the challenges interesting and do not have a problem getting involved. Running a mile and recording your time is simple and easy to do. Anyone will be able to understand that. I also like how you are able to post your scores and times up on the site so you can compare yourself to others around the world. What a great motivator!

    4. Please share any additional feedback/comments on the concept or the site you might have.

I think the site is set up very nicely. It isn’t too clutter and it is easy to navigate. I like how you are able to search for challenges with a search box as well as browse through the challenges. The color scheme is easy on the eyes. Overall, I think it is a good site.

  7. My first impression of this website is to make more people want to compete. Also to help these individuals get in shape and ready for their competition. essentially making people healthier.

I liked the colors on the page that was the first thing to catch my eye was the color and the pictures of various competitors at work. This website includes a bar at the top of the page with current challenges; this add a nice touch to the site.

Finding challenegs was quite easy and if i wanted to join one the button to press was clear. i think the challenges are a bit random and should add more challenges pertaining to certain sports that are not already up there like basketball or volleyball.

I think the only concern i have with this website is the types of challenges. mainly athletes would like to compete and there should be more of a variety of sports.

  8. This site is about a sport community where all the ‘likewise’ meet up their interests. The idea of so called ‘Meet me up’ sounds nice where they expose and explore their own interests.

It’s challenge but mostly will say that it looks as a commercial where a individual or a group want’s to challenge by being fitted in their own body to earn the best. I think it’s the opposite and very nice oriented. Energy is shown and it feels this site! I like it!

  9. My very first impression of the site was that it took awhile to load. Probably not what you wanted to hear, I know, but that’s what happened. (I use the most current version of Firefox and a broadband connection, in case you’re wondering.) And I do like the design, by the way. It just took a little while for it to fully load.

After that, my first (second?) impression was that it’s a fun site that motivates sports and fitness enthusiasts to test themselves against others by participating in “challenges.”

The current challenges scrolling at the top and the featured challenges farther down the page stand out to me most. They’re eye-catching and inviting. The only thing that bothers me about the design–and this is a minor point–is that the login is a little far down the page. I would put this at the top right, above the YouTube video, so that regular users who want to sign in immediately can do so without scrolling down.

You have a good selection of challenges for a site that’s just starting out, and I was able to find my own favorite sport, skating, without any trouble. Unfortunately, there were no current skating challenges, but I don’t think that reflects negatively on the site. I’m sure this category will eventually attract athletes, just like the other categories.

I picked some sample challenges, such as the Grueling Peak District Bike Ride and the Mile Run, and I had no problems navigating or understanding how to participate. I would suggest more “prize challenges” if possible. Prizes are a real motivator!

Overall, this is a very user-friendly site with a clean look and accessible feel. I like the concept, although I do wonder how some of the challenges in question can be verified. Nevertheless, I think it’s different and interesting and should be a lot of fun for athletes and fitness buffs.

  10. •Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about?

It’s a site to unite people under the grounds of fitness, health, and competition. It promotes fun fitness among competitors. I like the layout of the site.

•Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What sticks out?

The introduction video on the right top of the site stuck out to me first. I think the video is a great idea especially since the site is based on a lot of fun fitness home videos.

I think showing the current challenges is a great idea. That way people know what challenges that are going on at the moment and can join in.

    What do you find bothersome?

I do not find anything bothersome. I love the site!! I think it’s a great idea!!

Do you understand what to do/how to get involved?

Yes the site is easy to understand and navigate. I like the list of sports and excercise categories on the left site of the page under the “find challenges” tab. It makes it easy to find what type of sport or excercise a person is looking for.

•Imagine you are looking to do some exercise or training for your favourite sport or exercise – did you find it easy to find a challenge of interest, and did you have any problems getting involved?

I found it easy to find a challenge of interest, and had no problems getting involved.

•Please share any additional feedback/comments on the concept or the site you might have.

I think this site is a great idea. Not only is it good for the typical person but also for coaches who are looking for new ideas for excercises.

  11. Konkura is website that promotes fitness through challenges with people from all around the world. First I would like to say that I really liked the logo, it screamed fitness. All it needed was the rocky theme song in the background. The homepage was jam packed with tons of goodies to look at: current challengers, featured challenges, ways to share konkura and videos. The homepage is not boring in the least, there’s so much going on.

What stuck out to me the most was main box right under the scrolling bar that states a little about the company. As is stated before the main page has a lot going on but that is also a down fall for me. There’s so much to look one can get lost in all the info. When I clicked on the find out more tab it looked as if you can scroll down but I wasn’t able to do so leaving me without all the information. I also didn’t like it was a “K” just sitting in the background.

The directions on how to get involved seem really simple and easy to follow. This seems like such an interactive way to exercise with: voting, rating, video, a little trash talk, and ways to self promote if your a professional. I also like how you can create your own challenges.

The exercise I typed in was sit ups and within a few seconds I found a challenge. The page was well set up and easy to follow. I really liked the gold, silver and bronze placements, it give you a real boost to strive harder to atop the leader board.

All in all the website was great. This really gives the home exerciser a way to stay competitive with others in the comfort of the there own home. Keep it up!

  12. On first glance this looks like one of the many diet websites that are out there. People can sign up to get support and/or motivation for any fitness goal they have. Others can then join you.

Sign up was very easy. No email to confirm–just get started. On closer look you’ll see that there are some challenges that are just goofy-burping, texting, eating caramels. I think that one corner of the home page should be dedicated to that-it comes across as a total fitness site but really is much more. I like how people can upload videos of themselves completing the challenges. It gives the site, challenges and people an air of authenticity.

I did try to find a challenge on walking-the most basic of fitness exercises but I wasn’t able to find one so I created one of my own. It was pretty easy to do but would be very hard to prove. People can use it more as a motivational/support challenge.

I’m glad the goofy part was not played up on the home page-I think you would get a lot of the wrong people but it needs to make a decision-have a corner for it or don’t have it at all.

  13. When I saw the website I had no idea what the name has to do with the challenges and exercise but, still like the idea of exercising or challenging a friend or somebody who’s willing to exercise with you. I like that you can post in social networks and you can post a video on your progress. What sticks out the most was it seems it had to much stuff on the website. I did’nt like the grass on the background.I like the idea that they show you a video on how to start doing the stuff you want to do. I would participate on these activities and I would get involved but, I wish it would be alittle more easier to do these things. It seems to much to handle. I seems that the steps on how to join and how the start is all over the place. Just the video is enough for me but, you have to much information everywhere and its hard to keep up but, I like the whole concept of what you’re trying to do.
