  1. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do? Absolutely!  You provide a service for a man to order his under essentials and to have them also reorder at given intervals for his convenience.
On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see? The products are very easy to understand.  The only issue I found is that I am really unable to properly view the white products against the white background.  However, once I click the “View More Information”, then I am able to view the whites with no issues.
Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout). Absolutely!  I simply chose what I needed, the size and the quantity.  Then on the next screen I was able to chose my frequency of delivery for future orders.  The last screen was the final checkout.  It’s very easy!
Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase? An option of set packages would be a fantastic addition to the website.  I am not sure a set frequency rate on top of the package sets would be something that would be more beneficial or not.  My thoughts are no.  I know getting the repeat business is a plus, but think that people would appreciate a trial, so to speak, before committing.
We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate? I think that a weekly special would be beneficial.  Also, how about working with social networking to increase your sales potential.  Use Facebook, Twitter, even Cafemom to help get the word out.  I know that Cafemom runs ads on their pages.. this would be a fantastic opportunity for an already “stay at home” mom to order!
Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not? At the present time, No.  I would not use the site because my husband is always switching his brands and trying something new.  He is a shopper!  With my ex, I would definitely have used this website!  Also, I think it would be very beneficial for a college mom to use for her son while he is away.
I also want to add that as someone who has previously worked for a “big and tall” men’s store, I think this would be a fantastic addition to our products.  These men have a very hard time not only finding the correct sizes, but getting to the stores to buy their items.
Are the prices too high? No, I believe the prices are well within the correct range.

  2. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?
Yes! You provide men there essential in a fast, quick and easy way with a one time buy or with reordering.

On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?
Yes the products are easy to understand and I like how they are separated by catergories. It was evident to know where the sizes would be shown. I assumed it would be under more information but obviously that it’s correct. It’s fine the way it is but they may throw some people but I wouldn’t worry to much about changing that. It’s kind of hard to see the clothing that are white. The white on white washes itself out. It would nice to know if there are variations of colors. When you clic kon the more information tab I find it hard to know how to close the window. There’s no “x” in the corner you have to just try to click on the screen to make it go away.
Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).
The order process was easy to follow and I had no trouble with it all. I just picked the frequency, shipping selection, and I was done.

Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?
It was be nice if you could have preset packages for the consumer who want to think even less about ordering. I’m sure about the frequency rates but maybe a discount for a person who reoders X amount of times or a discount for the amount a person orders. Maybe something like a preferred shoppers list where you may say that this time you get free shipping because we appreciated you business.

We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?
I would have to say that your items are way to expensive. You have such a great idea but big box stores sell the brands you sell much cheaper and more quantity. Why pay $7 for one pay of boxer briefs when you can get 3 or 4 pairs. This service would be great for husband being that he doesn’t like stores and in fact he asked could be order now but the prices are one that is out of our budget.

Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?
If the prices would be adjusted then yes this would be great for my husband.

    Are the prices too high?
I think they are as I have already stated above.

Your site doesn’t say how long the shipping will take, and how it will be shipped. Overall great idea.

  3. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?
From the homepage?  Not exactly, no.  It has something to do with men’s underwear, but I’m not immediately sure what.  I had to go to the About page to figure that out.  Once there, I realized it’s a subscription service that sells men’s undergarments.  Men can choose to create a purchase plan and receive regular shipments of undies.

On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?
The products are definitely categorized and presented in a way that’s easy to understand.  I clicked a number of the “View More Information” links and found everything I wanted to know there.

Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).
Yes, I understood the order process, although I didn’t notice the checkout pop-up at the bottom right of the first page immediately and spent some time looking for it.  I would’ve preferred if the checkout was a link at the bottom of the page or something more traditional because my eyes didn’t naturally zero in on the pop-up.

Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?
I guess if you had set packages and frequency rates, the more limited selection might make the ordering process a little faster.  But I like that it’s fully customizable.  I think more choice is always better.  And, honestly, I don’t think your potential customers are going to care if the ordering process takes a few seconds longer because they need to make their own selections.  I think they’re going to like that the choice is theirs.

We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?
I’m gonna give it to you straight–I don’t think you’re priced competitively.  I can go to the Hanes website or to Walmart or Kmart, which sell Fruit of the Loom, and get three-packs and four-packs that cost as much or just a little more than a single item on your site.  I understand that what you’re selling is more than just  a product; it’s a service.  But I wonder if there are really that many guys out there who need something like this.  Most of the men in my life either have women around to do the laundry or have no problem dumping their whites in the machine every week, so access to fresh undies isn’t a problem.  And they don’t seem to run out of t-shirts, socks, or boxers/briefs that often.  They all get plenty at Christmas, and if they run out at other times, they generally just stop by the store or ask their wives/girlfriends to do it.  Ultimately, I’m not sure there are going to be enough men out there who see the need to pay higher prices just to get regular shipments of underwear.  So, my suggestion would be to either lower your rates across the board or offer a lot of good deals that would make your site attractive to repeat customers–coupons, regular sales, discounts for subscribers, and so on.  The “Cash for Homies” program is a pretty good idea.  I would also try to get some press from men’s sites like Askmen.com if you can.

Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not at the moment, no, because I’m very bargain-conscious.  I don’t mind going to the store to pick up undies for someone if it’s going to save me a few extra dollars.  I figure I’m there anyway, so it’s not a big deal.  I can imagine the site would have the most appeal to single men who are very busy at work and find it really hard to squeeze in the time to stop off at the store.

    Are the prices too high?
    Yes.  See above.

I know you didn’t really ask about this, but I just want to reiterate that your homepage layout is somewhat confusing.  I wonder if this is part of the reason you’re getting a lot of traffic but few conversions.  In general, people want to know what your site is about as soon as they land on it.  I really wasn’t sure until I searched it out by clicking on the About page.

Right now, the homepage presents a problem: “ever look at your dingy, stained, crusty socks, shirts and underwear and wish they would magically replace themselves every few months?”  Then it says, “Wish granted – you have 2 left.”  Huh?  That’s kind of vague.  What solution are you offering me to this problem?  Do I really have to dig around the site to figure it out?   If I were you, I would reorganize and put something brief about your three-step process front and center on the homepage.  That way, visitors will immediately see the problem…and the solution.  No guesswork necessary.  I’d also reorganize the whole homepage–move non-essentials like customer feedback and reviews to a less prominent location.  In their place, there should be a sign-in for repeat customers and more of a focus on things like the “Cash for Homies” program and other benefits for the customer.

One thing I DO like, though, is the humorous tone of the site.  It seems well matched to your intended audience.

  4. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?
Yes. You provide a service for men to help them stay stocked and refreshed on the most basic of items.

On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?
I found it very easy to understand and navigate. I like that it is organized by category and then by brand. That makes shopping a lot easier.

Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).
It was easy to follow once I found the checkout button. Perhaps I am just used to it being at the top righthand corner of a website when shopping online, but I did scroll up and down a couple of times before I noticed it there.

Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?
It sounds like a good idea, but I don’t think it would be a popular one. What I liked most about your site was that everything can be customized to an individual’s own needs.

We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?
I think you should try to appeal to women. I know it is a site dedicated to a man’s essentials, but in many households women are the ones to do all/most of the shopping. This site would be one less task on her endless to-do list. Perhaps having an insentive for first time users would help, such as B2G1 free or something along those lines. If you can entice them to try it, you are raising potential for return customers.

Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would not, as I currently do not have a boyfriend or husband to shop for. I will however reccomend this service to my brother as he is not a shopper.

Are the prices too high? No. I found them to be reasonable with what you would pay if you went into the store.

  5. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?

When I first look at the home page, it is hard to understand exactly what you do.  There is a lot of stuff on the home page, but nothing that really says that you sell undergarments.

On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?

On the build page, I can definitely see that you do sell under garments.  I like the way it is organized into Fruit of the loom, Haynes, and Ck.  It is also very well organized into boxers, briefs, T-shirts and socks.  That way you can easily pick out what you wear and get what ever you need.

Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).

The order process does make sense.  You just pick out what you want, and the check out button is to the right.  Once you have picked out what you want, it does show up in the check out box.  The information that is required is pretty basic, and not something that I would have any hesitation about giving.

Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?

I don’t think that It would become an easier purchase if you had set packages.  The fact that you don’t allows me the freedom of picking what I want, and the frequency that I would like to have it shipped.  I think that it is fine the way it is now.

We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?

I think that the only thing you need to do is to change the home page.  If you did not know to click on the tabs above, you would have no idea on how to get to the actual products.  I think that the top section of the home page should have a sample item of each category, that a consumer can click on, and view the options.

Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?

    Are the prices too high?

I would definitely use you.  I think that it is very convenient that you can have the items shipped every 2 or 4 months, or what ever time interval you choose.  I think that the prices are very good.  With the automatic shipping, you do not have to worry about it, as it just automatically coes.

  6. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?
The only concept I get from your home page is that you are a socks, shirt, underwear service for men. I dont know if you rent them, if men can buy them, if you are a cleaning service or if there is an automatic delivery monthly. You dont specify what kind of service is provided.
On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?
The build page is a very simple page. You show what the products looks like, you break it down by name brand which is GREAT for the guys that know what they want. You give prices per item and there is a more information link that gives extra detail if needed. It is a very user friendly page. I would like to see something about how it works. Nothing wordy but just something that says how the process works because I have yet to find it on the main pages. The title for step 2 is very confusing to me. It is how dirty are you but in my opinion it has nothing to do with that. For a simple idea and simple service the title of step 2 is sort of silly.
Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).
It does make sense but I am not liking the title of step 3. Its silly and isnt very clear as to what the step truely is. You do have everything nicely organized and its very user friendly (which you need for your customers).
Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?
The intention I get from your page is that everything you want, you can get. Your choice. I think custom packages would take away from that at least at this point. Maybe in the future you could do a popular package, or offer reoccuring customers a special package for being such valued customers.
We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?
Be more clear on what you do/offer. Its not as clear for some people (including myself). Also changing the titles in your purchasing steps would be more professional. Also adding customers statements on how they like the website/service would give potential customers something to base their decision on.
Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?
If your prices were more competitive, yes. At this point, probably not. It seems like a great idea but its not there yet, its not for me (the average american). I do like that you can have your favorites sent automatically instead of having to reorder constantly.
    Are the prices too high?
Absolutely! They are outragous! I would much rather spend the 10 minutes in walmart spending $7 on a 4 pack of underwear than spending 5 mins online ordering 1 pair at the same price. You need to realize that the average joe is not going to spend that kind of money just so they dont have to run to the mall/store. If you want to market to a large variety of customers than you have to price out the products for everyone.

  7. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?
It’s not immediately clear exactly what you do, however it doesn’t take a huge amount to figure it out either. In saying that I definitely think that the homepage/website as a whole could do with a serious aesthetical makeover. It’s like a couple of people have eluded to, although the site is geared towards men it is more likely to be used by wives/girlfriends, and I think even from a guys perspective it’s a bit unprofessional looking and not particularly inviting.
On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?
I would like to see an actual picture of the item which is available rather than just a generic picture for each item as upon first looking none of the pictures are particularly appealing to me and as such I probably wouldn’t choose to purchase any, however if there were other options available (which I realise there is) they would possibly suit my tastes better. Other than that it’s great and the view more details is quite informative. I would however appreciate having the measurements for the items as sometimes a large is really a small and vice versa, being a guy I would be too lazy to send them back I just wouldn’t order again.
Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).
Yes it makes sense and is easy enough to follow. I also had trouble finding the checkout button though (which seems silly since it is fairly obvious once you do notice it) perhaps directing us to it in the instructions at the top would be beneficial.
Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?
I don’t think packages would be a good option as for myself I buy undershirts a lot less frequently than underwear and socks. However for some people they might prefer this, but you would still need to be able to choose the sizes etc anyway so wouldn’t really be all that different from the current set-up.
We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?
I definitely think a makeover would help to gain customers confidence in the site as well as dealing with the other issues which I have raised. You do need to find a way of differentiating yourself from the other online shopping sites and simply having the orders repeating automatically I don’t think is enough. I imagine that a lot of people stumble across the site while looking for underwear online but end up choosing a different site due to the look of the website.
Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?
Now that I understand the website I would probably use it. However if I was your average person looking to buy underwear online I would probably choose a more professional looking website. I’m not suggesting that you need to remove the personality of the site but at the moment it looks almost dirty, if that makes sense.
    Are the prices too high?
I don’t think so, I think that $7 for a pair of boxers from a reputable brand is reasonable. For the person who said they would rather go to Walmart and get a 4 pack for the same price, I don’t think that they are the customer that you would be targeting anyway.

  8. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?

Yes, I clearly understand what you do.You sell underwear, shirts, and socks for men.

On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?

The products were easy to understand. There was a picture and a written description for each product. It would be good if you could make the pictures larger by hovering the mouse over them.

Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).

It doesn’t make sense to me – I couldn’t follow it. Having it be 3 steps seems unnecessary. After a few minutes, I gave up on the process.

Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?

Yes, having set packages and set delivery dates would make an easier purchase.

We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?

Simplify the ordering process. Your product seems good, but it’s too hard to order.

Would you use us?If so, why? If not, why not?

I would not use you because your prices are too high and it’s too hard to order.

    Are the prices too high?

Yes, the prices are too high for me. I realize that everything on the Internet is usually high-priced, but I’m not interested in paying high prices for underwear, shirts and socks.

  9. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?
Yes. It is easy to understand.
On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?
Products are easy to understand. However, I would prefer to see pictures in color.
Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).
Yes. It makes perfectly sense. However, I believe that the frequency should not be set in advance. It should be rather a reminder to be sent to the customer who should have the option to review and confirm the order.
Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?
Yes. Ready-made packages might be useful. A man often does not know how many pieces he will need in a certain time span. Typically, when a man found himself short of something, he goes shopping…
We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?
Try with standard promotions like 3×2 or reduced prices when committing for longer periods. Also, prices are rather high.
Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?
No. I prefer going to a store and choose my underwear. I also need to touch the fabric and see if I would feel comfortable.
    Are the prices too high?
Yes. They are rather pricey. If prices would be way below the market, then people would probably buy them.

  10. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?

Not off the bat.  I get that you are a sock, T-Shirt and Underware service…but what part of them are you servicing?  Cleaning? New Products? When you dig a bit, you realize that you can purchase new products.
I see this as a “high end” personality as the purchaser, your web design does not say this to the man who would need this service. Women using this type of service for the man in their life would need a bit more flash as well.  There is nothing that says “you are special” about the colors, blocking and fonts.  This is all very bland.

On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?
The products speak for themselves, it is nice that you have a high end designer there, would really think you would want more of them considering who would be using this service. What I don’t see is definition on what the price includes.  Usually when buying underware they come in packages…you should specify this is the cost per pair of boxers, per Tshirt.  You have done this with the socks, all three should be difined.  When I opened the more information box to find out what the price included, I couldn’t close the box.  You should place a “close box” button or X at the top of the box.   THe order total box also covers part of the main product viewing area.  This should be moved to the upper right hand corner of the screen where we are used to finding it when purchasing on the web.
Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).
Yes it makes sence, I just believe you should rename the steps.  “How dirty are you” while funny as a woman who does her hubbys laundry, it isn’t relatable to the corporate man who would use this type of service.
Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?
I belive that having set packages would increase the purchase/traffic ratio that you ask about in the next question.  Women who are picking out for the man in their lives love to pick and choose the right item “they” think would be good.  While the corporate man needs something quick and correct.    But this may be hard in some cases as people are not always a large on top and bottom.
We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?
Creating a site that fits the image of your target market.  Better colors and layout would really keep people on the page and drive them to dig deeper.  Also having more higher end products as well.
Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would not.  I can find these at the store and for better prices.  What I would use you for is if you had specialty items, silk, robes etc for that “special” occasion.
    Are the prices too high?
Yes, very much so.  If you only had designers here, that would be a different story, but 7$ for Fruit of the Loom is outrageous.

  11. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?

Yes, it is made quite clear on the About link.  You offer a subscription service, and one time buy, of men’s underwear and socks. The little blurb on the main page draws you in. For those interested, little effort is needed to find more information.

On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?

The products are very easy to understand. I would like to see an “enlarge picture” option.

Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).

The order process is very simple. You choose the product and amount/size you want, then you select the frequency of shipments and then payment.

Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?

I think allowing people the choice to pick their own package is a big sell! Of course, offering both options would be even better!

We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?

A good idea would be to offer buy one get one free, or buy two get one free. Also, maybe offer discounts to customers who sign up for the subscription option.

Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would!  I think it is an excellent gift idea too!

    Are the prices too high?

No, the prices are not too high, especially with free shipping.

  12. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?
Yes. It required a bit more time than I thought it would, though. Perhaps something a bit more descriptive on the home page would’ve been nice. Maybe a Youtube video, something highly informative, but entertaining. Perhaps a bit tongue in cheek.
On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?
Once you get to the build page the presentation feels more streamlined, but still ultimately it lacks focus. Maybe if there were an avatar you could dress up, or perhaps a way to just view all socks, or all underwear what have you.
Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).
I think the idea is handled marvelously, at least as far as frequency and quantity is concerned. But perhaps it could be consolidated into one step, or maybe a more graphic representation of the calender/frequency options.
Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?
As a consumer choice is never to be frowned upon, but prepackaged bundles at a discounted rate would be a nice option.
We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?
Maybe if you offered discounted packages for buying packages or bundles or a subscription would give people the financial incentive to order. Offer promo codes for referring a friend or first time deals. Maybe getting people to enroll for LONG term commitments with heavy savings based incentives would be a hot ticket.
Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would!  I think the prices are affordable and every man needs these essentials. To save the trip to the store every three months would be liberating.
    Are the prices too high?
No, the prices are not too high, especially with free shipping. I think you could offer up some promotions to drive interest or  instill loyalty but your everyday prices are quite reasonable.

  13. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do? Yep.  A subscription based service for pants, socks and shirts.
On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see? I’d like to see stats of how else has purchased and ratings if possible.  I also think you should sort things by type rather then brand.  If i’m a man who only wears boxers I’d like to see just that.  I think that is a scenario more likely then “I only where Hanes, regardless of type”.  Also, what’s with the ordering?  Is their a reason behind it?
Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout). It’s fine.  Although I’d add a little logic to improve your address form mainly, if I choose one of the states, the next box should autofill to america.  Also, you’re credit card page looks like a scam – the credentials look like they have been tacked on as an afterthought.  Consider using a standard more familiar design pattern for capturing credit cards.
Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase? Yes.  You should absolutely have set packages that can be modified as an extra (e.g. 2 shirts, 4 undies, 4 socks every 2 months).  There is something called the “paradox of choice” which states that when humans have too much choice, we choose nothing.  Let people see what popular options are (it’s safe from a psychological standpoint) and you could also make fun identities/personas e.g. the hipster, the model, etc (obviously you default to the types of underwear these people use)
We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate? First investigate your analytics.  See where in the funnel people are mostly bailing (e.g, do they land and never click build, do they build but never pay, etc).  Find out where the leaks are and work to plug them with split testing.  Your home page is too busy.  Remember – you are trying to lead the visitor down a predefined path.  At the moment there are too many options to do anything.  I would suggest having a big clear image/banner underneath your blue bar that GRAPHICALLY instructs the user what to do.  This can be something along the lines of: 1. Pick your essentials. 2. Decide how often you want to get them.  3. Enjoy the freshness.  Then have a big button which says START BUILDING (or whatever). Essentially, your homepage doesn’t make it easy for a visitor to know what is more important (as seen on and testimonials are more important then where you hang out and what threads you rock) – the home page exists to move people to the build page.  Also, I’d guess that the credibility of the credit card page is a big one too.
Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not? For me no.  It’s not really a problem I have.  But then again I’m not fussed with the type of undergarment i wear, as long as it’s clean, cheapish and comfortable it’s fine.  Also, I don’t actually spend that much on buying underwear – it’s just not that important.  BUT – there are people who are very discerning and there is a market.  I guess the big question is how often do people throw out underwear?
Are the prices too high? Nope. Very reasonable.

  14. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?
Firstly let me say that the name of your site is one of the best that I have seen in a long time. As the page is rendered I can clearly see that you provide a service for your target customers (men) to order socks, shirts and underwear all of which is classed as essentials

On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?
Once you click the “Start build” button link you are taken to a page that is categorized in Underwear, shirts and socks and there are images of the products with links for more information. The products are very easy to understand, once a customer are used to shopping sites it should not be any different. You can probably add code that will incorporate mouse-over that way the user does not always have to click on an item

Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).
Although not the typical shopping cart checkout it was still very simple to understand. Picked the frequency and shipping

Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?
Having set packages and frequency rates would make it an easier process Yes. However I thing the customization option is what will keep your customers happy and able to feel that they are not restricted. giving people a choice goes a long way.

We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?
I know having a start-up business is tough and what may be hurting you is the prices offered are higher that going to the manufacturer.  The way to generate more traffic to your site would be to offer package deals that are too good to pass up. Your marketing strategy online will help generate traffic also.

Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?

I could see the potential to use your service because it appeals to my need not to go to the store, but again because of the prices offered I am wii continue my trek to Walmart

    Are the prices too high?
In a word Yes. As mentioned above the big box stores are cheaper that your prices.

  15. Feedback sought:

When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?

Yes – the service proposition is clear. However the home page is cluttered and the design and fonts could use a more professional do-over. Simple and attractive are not mutually exclusive.

On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?

Yes, they’re easy to understand. My critical feedback would be, make the options more compact so users with small screens can see more product on the screen at same time. Also, people are going to want to comparison shop to check your prices, which upon checking hanes.com seem very competitive. However, take Hanes for example – they have many different models of boxers, t-shirts, etc. As a consumer I would feel more comfortable making the purchase with you if I knew which “model” of the t-shirt, boxers, etc you were selling. Also, a size chart for folks who don’t know if they or the receipient is a M, L, etc.

Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).

The idea is fine, the execution needs help. Most notably, I assumed I was supposed to click something like a “next” button to get to step 2. Finally realized that I had to go to check-out to get there! That is not intuitive and needs written direction such as “to get to step 2, go to checkout”.  Also, the unique checkout process is a fun idea but if you want more conversions I suggest giving people the choice to shop conventionally. Following in the theme of your site’s tone add something like “This checkout process is messing with my head – give me the old school checkout format!”

Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?

Yes but design it so that by selecting a package – it simply prepopulates the ala carte shopping menu and then allows a shopper to make small tweaks from there or just confirm the package.

We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?

First and foremost – folkd don’t want to be locked into a purchase that they’re not 100% sure they’ll need in 3 months. They probably will but they’re not 100% sure – that has to give folks pause. Offer to send a text/email alert that they’re purchase is schedule in one week before it goes and give them the option to delay or cancel. I know this is a tough propisition for you as the vendor but you’ll hopefully get very few cancellations and the benefit is that you promote this feature on your site and will get more shoppers willing to take the risk with you.  Also, Live CS chat! loyalty program, an unbeatable introductery offer for 1st timers (limit it to one per shipping address), Groupon marketing campaign, hire a celebrity endorser that resonates with your demo and more price point variety.

Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?

I’m probably not your target so no. I just don’t go through undergarments that frequently, never had a yellow pit stain and boxers last about 2 years, but I’m sure I’m in the minority on that

    Are the prices too high?

Did a quick check on hanes.com and as I mentioned I wasn’t sure I was comparing apples to apples but they seem like tough prices to beat.

  16. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?

You are a sock, shirt, and underwear replacement company that is geared towards meeting a need that the average male has but never quite gets around to taking care of himself (or at least not in a usual timely manner).
On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?

The products are very easy to understand, enhanced by the pictures and the “view more information” feature.  The “so fresh and oh so clean” line at the bottom is inviting.  As far as more information, you might try putting different colors of t-shirts and underwear and posting the pictures of some of those on your site.
Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).

Somewhat.  At the top under “Build” you list two of the steps and then you don’t see the third step (which is hilarious in it’s message and relates to men well) until your eyes drop to that section.  The gray line that divides it makes it seem a bit like it’s in a totally different section.  I found myself searching back through the paragraph for the third step before I noticed where it actually was.  If it were me, I’d go ahead and leave it where it is but also include it in the actual paragraph itself.

Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?

Definitely easier!  But I would certainly not give up the individualized aspect of your site.  Include them both and let the customer feel like he’s getting even more options.  Most men like to have chocies so the more the merrier.

We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?

See above.  Include box sets with varied products.  One box might include two boxers, three t-shirts, and three pairs of socks, sold as is.  Include several of these options, and then have a few additional ones where the customer can pick/mix and match his own items.  The choices of picking individually, or getting a ready made boxed set, or creating your own box will give many choices to men and also make it fun to look through in the process.
Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?

I might.  I think I’d like to try you out just to see what quality of service you actually provide.  If I don’t use you anytime soon, it’s because my wife recently bought me several pairs of underwear , and I already have plenty of quality grade socks and t-shirts to get by on for awhile.
    Are the prices too high?

They are about average.  Sometimes you can get them cheaper at Wal-Mart or Dollar General.  They usually sell in bulk packs (i.e. three for five dollars, etc.) so you have to compete with that.  However, for the traveling male or for the one who simply doesn’t like getting out and/or going shopping for himself, you guys are the right site to do business with.

  17. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do? I understood the purpose of the site only after checking out the “About” page; the homepage left me with unanswered questions.
On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see? The products are easy to understand, and as stated regularly used and needed products. I’d like to see more information on where the product came from.
Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout). The 3 step ordering process (build product by selecting item, size, and quantity, selecting frequency of shipment, and inputting shipping data) was easy.
Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase? Set packages and frequency rates would make the purchases easier, especially for those who have a high shipment frequency rate or who plan to place orders for a long term time frame.
We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate? Lowering the prices on the products. Although the service is very unique the availability of products are not.
Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not? Unless I was a hermit or a very unorganized person I would rather go to the store to get the products and have them at my dispense immediately.
Are the prices too high? Yes. It would make potential customers much more interested if they felt as if they were saving money by utilizing ManEssentials’ service.

  18. When looking at our site, do you understand what we do?
Yes, I understand what this site is about. I think it is rather clever. There are a lot of people that put off what they need and it is pretty genius to offer to ship anywhere and how often.

On the ‘build’ page – are the products easy to understand? If you’d like to see more info, what would you like to see?
Yes, this is easy to understand. You put a check next to the items that you want. You should make sure you include that there is free shipping.
Does the 3 step order process make sense? (It’s not a typical shopping cart checkout).
I think for what you are offering, the three step order is perfect. It is logical and it makes sense.

Everything we do is customizable (product, shipping frequency, styles and sizes), if we had set packages and frequency rates, would we become an easier purchase?
I think having set packages would be a great idea. You don’t have to get too specific but it does make sense. People usually buy socks and underwear at the same time so having a sock and underwear package is a good idea.
I think if you do a package, the price should be discounted because the customer is getting a package deal. Also, I think the more frequent the customer wants to receive these items, there should be another discount. If someone is getting something every two months, they should get like 25% off his entire purchase. I think that would bring in more customers.
We get a fair amount of traffic but not a lot of purchases. What do you think would help us increase our conversion rate?
I think you need to have some sort of special that entices the potential customer. When I first looked at the prices, I was a little blown away. You can go to the store and get a three pack for almost the same that you are charging. I think people look at the price and think that they can just get it cheaper at walmart.
I think if you offer first time customers a deal, that might bring in sales. Another suggestion is maybe adding a free gift to go along with the purchase. I always like to buy something on the internet and get a free gift.
Would you use us? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would use you. I don’t know if I would use you right now with the economy the way it is, but if I had extra money, I would. It would be one less essential I would have to worry about.
    Are the prices too high?
When I first saw the prices, I thought they were WAY high. However, I wasn’t sure if shipping was included in the price because it wasn’t stated. It wasn’t until I went through the buying process that I noticed that shipping was free. I think that is an important factor to put on the site. I know that you have the little icon that says free shipping, but I think you need it big and on every product so people know. The price makes more sense when you count for shipping.
