About OlderSibling:

When you sign up to OlderSibling, you can enter the ID of your Bluetooth® chip from your phone (which OlderSibling can automatically find for you). If you then signup your home computer to be a locator, you can go to OlderSibling’s website and see the times when you were at home. This may not be so interesting to you. But you may want to know what time your teenage daughter got home last night, or when your spouse left for work. You can find this out at any time by going to the website.

When our software runs on your computer, it is a compact program that runs unnoticeably in the background without effecting the performance of your machine. It also doesn’t collect any information other than what you have specified on our website. And because our software runs on your computer, you don’t need a high end phone or GPS or any apps.

OlderSibling can track the Bluetooth® chip in your phone or any other device. (While cell phones are the most ubiquitous examples of devices that are enabled with Bluetooth, their are many other examples.)

  1. •Visit https://www.oldersibling.com. What do you think the site is about?

The site is about tracking a friend or family member’s location by their cell phone using the computer. It’s kind of like twitter but instead of waitng for them to type where they are you can locate them by using the computer which will also make it hard for them to lie.

•Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?

Yes I think this service would be very useful. I am a mother of two children and it would be helpful to be about to track them down and not depend on them to tell me the truth. We all know teenagers don’t always tell the truth.

•Sign up for OlderSibling. Did you understand the signup process?

Yes and the “Brief Signup Tutorial” video was very helpful in understanding the signup process.

•Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?

I think this service is a great idea. The only thing that would concern me is that you can only locate a person if they are in the same house as the computer with the software. Once they leave that area there is no locating. So the only thing the service would be used for is to know when a person or persons leaves the house or comes home etc.

Another concern that I have is if my child makes a profile, they can add any of their family or friends to the list of being able to locate them. The site states nothing about the parent being notified or e-mailed when the child adds a friend to their list. That is a concern because children or teenagers for that matter do not understand the dangers for someone who is not a family member being able to locate them.

I like how there are two different options of logging in. I don’t like connecting my social network with networks such as this kind where I am locating my family.

The “See video” and “learn more” links are very helpful in understanding the signup process and understanding the service.

•Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?

My suggestion would be to make it to where the “parent” is in control of the children’s profile such as who they put on their list. Some children’s sites send the parents the login information of the child’s account. I think you should do that too. Because of parents being so worried about stalkers, they may not use your service or allow their children to unless they have a way of getting into the children’s account.

    •Will you return to OlderSibling?

Yes, I think it’s a good site and a great idea. I would just change what I mentioned above.

  2. What do you think the site is about? I think this site is exactly what it says, it’s a way of tracking someone utilizing their Bluetooth device, such as their cell phone, via a website application downloaded to their personal computer.

Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not? I think that it might be something useful for parents who are wanting to keep track of their children. However, my only concern is that in order to track an adult, you would have to gain their permission before doing so. It seems like it might be easy to set up a tracking on a boyfriend or girlfriend, or even spouse without their knowledge, simply by using their cell phone. This, in my opinion, might be a violation of their privacy.

Sign up for OlderSibling. Did you understand the signup process? I signed up using an account. The process was self explanatory, however, I never found an explanation as why I would need to upload a picture.

Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site? The colors and overall appearance of the website are fine. It’s eye catching and attractive. It is user friendly. I would, however, like to see tabs in a menu on the main web page such as Contact, and FAQ. As well, there is plenty of space at the bottom of the main web page for a better explanation of an example of why would might need this service.

Do you have any suggestions or recommendations? On the “Learn More” page, I am finding some of the wording redundant in the explanation. I think that the wording could be put in more basic terms of understanding. I do like how the tabs are displayed on the left hand side and feel that each tab is clear and concise in further understanding.

Will you return to OlderSibling? Probably not. I do not have any children at home and would definitely NOT use this service to track a spouse. I might recommend the use of this site to other parents and in social networking sites, such as Cafemom.

  3. Visit https://www.oldersibling.com. What do you think the site is about?
You are giving conflicting messages, on the homepage you target family and friends and under ‘learn more’ you target parents and children. The last one is very strong though and I think I would visualize what you say there on the homepage. For example: a small map with footsteps going from one house to another.

Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?
The service seems very useful for parents! I can imagine that it would be very comforting to know where my children are without me having to text or call them.

Sign up for OlderSibling. Did you understand the signup process?
The Signup process seems very straightforward. It is very handy that you can track the Bluetooth because looking up a long number immediately puts you off.

Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?
I don’t think the website looks very professional. The page under ‘learn more’ is to much a Word page. The photo of Kelly doesn’t seem to have a function and there is to much text to read. An internet reader probably doesn’t want to take the time. It would be great if you would create tabs and seperate text blocks. As I said before, I would make the homepage much more inviting, with color and visuals to support your product. I really like the idea.

Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?
You could market this product very well on twitter to busy moms or on websites/blogs for parents etc.

    Will you return to OlderSibling?
I will definitely keep track of your progress!

  4. 1. Visit https://www.oldersibling.com. What do you think the site is about?

The site is for a product that allows family and friends to track your location.

    2. Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?

I personally do not need the service, as I do not have children. I do; however, have friends and relatives with teenagers and pre-teens, who would find this incredibly useful. They would find it useful because many times, the parents’ lives are as busier, or busier, than their kids’, and it’s not always easy to keep track of everyone. Your service would provide both added incentive for kids to keep their words and adhere to rules or deadlines, and also peace-of-mind for parents.

    3. Sign up for OlderSibling. Did you understand the signup process?

It is very straightforward, and requires minimal personal information. One concern I have is for parents who are less tech savvy than most. On your homepage, it says that you don’t have to have a smart phone. That implies to me that a segment of your target audience is not tech savvy (as most people who are relatively tech savvy have a smart phone by now). Even with the nice detail about where to find that Bluetooth ID, I have concerns that it would be a major turnoff for people who have no idea what that even means. Other than that, the process is very easy to understand.

    4. Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?

I am confused about the tone of copy on your homepage. It seems to me that the target audience is really parents or guardians for this product; however, your main homepage copy and headline is geared, it seems, toward the child, rather than the parents. I find it highly unlikely that a teenager wants to “let [their] family and friends see where they are.” Maybe friends, but they would do that through Facebook. As someone with a background in copywriting, I find that disconcerting. The copy is clear and concise, and provides immediate information about your product, but the voice and target audience is all wrong. Within your subpages, your copy sounds like it was written by an employee, and not a professional copywriter. I think this is a critical mistake, as before a parent is going to hand over private information, it is essental that your company be portrayed as both an expert in its field, and a genuine, respectable business.

This is really preference, but I also think your social media icons look very cheap. I understand it’s a design choice to look different, but I think it looks unprofessional and actually confusing (especially the Twitter icon).

    5. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?

As I mentioned above, I believe that your website copy needs a complete overhaul. I also recommend a brief market research study for your target audience to see what they need an expect from both a site and your service. I really think that, other than your personal belief on the benefits of this service, it would help with the direction of your site if you can pinpoint the top two or three things your target audience hopes to achieve from your site and service. This will give some direction to the site. Your product is, I feel, strong, but you need a very clear positioning statement and direction.

    6. Will you return to OlderSibling?

I’d say about 50/50. While I don’t have a personal use for your service, I know many parents of teenagers and pre-teens who can find true value in this service. I may be showing some people this site, as I think it can benefit them.

  5. # What do you think the site is about?

I like the site. I think the layout and the color schemes are good. I also like the older picture with the person circled on it. I think it adds a nice touch to what you are trying to accomplish with this site.
I also like the facebook, twitter, and blogger buttons. They are unique and helps bring character to your site.

    # Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?

At this moment I do not find this site useful. I have no one that I need to know where they are at. Right now my daughter is three years old and only goes to her father’s house. Since he picks her up directly to me, I know when he gets her. I also don’t want people to know where I am at all the time.

I might find this site useful when my daughter gets older but for right now it isn’t. However, it is great concept and I liked how you demonstrated how it can be used with your own son.

    # Sign up for OlderSibling. Did you understand the signup process?

I do understand the signup process. I like how you have a feature that finds the bluetooth number on your computer for you. I do think you should be more specific about how to find the bluetooth number. I am not sure everyone will be able to find the bluetooth number or understand how to find it.

    # Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?

I do like how you had humor to your site in the learn more section. However, it may come across to people as not professional. For example, divorcing your husband because he is a jerk. I think it is funny but others might not see the humor in it.

I always think it is a good idea to put a face with a business but I am not sure the pictures you have are professional enough. They are good pictures but it doesn’t send off a professional and serious message about what you are trying to offer.

    # Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?

I am a fan of color. Color attracts me to sites a lot of times. There is nothing wrong with white but most of the site is white. Maybe you can try working with color to make your site pop more.

    # Will you return to OlderSibling

I don’t think I will return to OlderSibling. Facebook has a similar feature that can let your friends know where you are when you want them to. I am not a big fan of people knowing where I am at all the time.

  6. Visit https://www.oldersibling.com. What do you think the site is about?
I think that its intriqueing. Just the whole aspect of it makes anyone want to learn more about how something like this could be done. The site is straight and to the point. It is not cluttered with useless junk and ads.The picture at the top says it all without saying a word. How it shows one man standing in a crowd and how he stands out because of OlderSibling. This is a great marketing strategy. The color scheme is also very pleasing. It is easy on the eyes.

Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?
Yes I would find this service very useful. I live in a rural area and I am constantly traveling 60 miles or more to visit even my local Walmart. This application would allow my husband to check up on me, and for him to know that we are safe. We often get bad weather here, and if a storm hits my husband would want to come looking for us. This application would allow him to be able to find us. I also think that something like this would be useful as my daughter gets a little older. Right now she is only 3, but as she gets older and starts going out with friends etc it would allow me to keep tabs on her.

Sign up for OlderSibling. Did you understand the signup process?
Yes the signup process is very self explanatory. The only thing that some might find confusing is the Blue tooth ID. The site explains what this ID is, but it does not go into much detail on how to find it. Some people are not super technically savy. If you explained how to find this ID it would allow the everyone to be able to use this service.

Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?
I really like the use of facebook to login. Most people already have facebook accounts, and being able to login with it saves them time and effort. I like the whole setup of the site. I find it very appealing. That being said, I think the contact us section is a little hidden. You have to click on the learn more link then click on another tab to find it. I think maybe there should be a link on the main page for this, because sometimes people may need assistance in setting up with the service.

Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?
Most of my suggestions and recommendations have already been stated in previous statements. I find the site very user friendly. I would just put an about us section and a contact us section on the main page. This would allow people who have issues get resolutions without extensive effort. It would also allow someone who wants to research a little more on the service to have that with a click of a button.

    Will you return to OlderSibling?
Actually, I believe I will. I find the whole idea of the site very intriqueing, and like I stated previous living in a rural area makes services such as this very appealing.

  7. • The site is to be able to track the whereabouts of your children or maybe your keys. Its to help ease the mind of a parent and the worry feeling of knowing for sure that your child is here they are supposed to be

    • For me, I would not find the site useful. My children are older and out of the house. I also feel that this could be a great place for parents of teenagers but I just feel like it’s a way for anyone to watch my comings and goings and not sure if I like that feeling.

    • The process was very easy process. I did encounter an issue with Java. I was running a higher version and they wanted me to install a different version. For me that was an issue because, I need the higher version to run other applications that I need for either work or personal on my computer. I would feel that I would have to keep reinstalling different versions depending on what website I was going to.

    • Like I said above, I would not like have to keep upgrading or downgrading the version of Java.

I like your bluntness, but some people might be put off by it. For example:
    “…where I left my damn keys…”
“…as soon as I finish sifting through all of the spam.”

I also love the personal touch with the pictures, however some people might be offended by the glass of wine or beer. Me, I am not offended easier, but there are some potential clients that might not want to do business with you due to some points I listed above.
I also like how you use facebook, twitter and have a blog to get your website name out there for others to see. This is a great marketing strategy and word of mouth is also a cheap way to advertise!

    • Sorry but for me this website would not be of interest to me. Like I mentioned above, my children are older and I don’t have the need to know their every move.

  8. Visit https://www.oldersibling.com. What do you think the site is about?

If I am correct tis is a site that allows people to know where you are throughout the day. People can know this information with having one of the latest high tech phones or a fun little app to go with it. The website is called older sibling kinda referencing “big brothers watching.”

Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?

It could be very useful to a parent with kids. This way a parent can know where there kid is at all times. There are some kids in the world that like to rebel against their parents, in which case this website comes in handy in a variety of situations. I would not find this website helpfull for the fact that I do not have any kids and do not plan to for a little bit. However if i was finding myself to have problems with my kids lieing to me I would with a doubt use this site to know of their whereabouts.

Sign up for OlderSibling. Did you understand the signup process?

Yes I found this process to be extremely easy to come by. It just ask that you fill out a few simple questions like your name, email, and make a password. The only complicated thing i found would be entering in a bluetooth code; However even this website thought ahead. They explain to the right about what the code is and that your computer might be able to find it itself. This is very neat so people hopefully dont have to go searching through their phones to find the code.

Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?

I like how clean the page is. It is very simple and organized. The picture in the background goes great for the kind of website this page is. Just by the title and the picture people can figure out what this site is about, without having to read the information.

Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?
    Will you return to OlderSibling?

I will not return to this site any time soon because like i stated above I do not have any children of my own. However if i did and i found i was having problems with them lieing about where they are i would consider using this older sibling site in a heart beat.

  9. What do you think the site is about?
I think its to help folks stay connected in a more intimate way. By using the bluetooth there is less typing to be done and that is always a good thing.

•Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?
I think that everyone is always looking for an easier way to communicate while you are doing three things at once. This one is it.

Did you understand the signup process?
Yes. The fact that you use facebook makes it a very fast sign in process. Since you are dealing with clients that are going to be in a hurry this is a brilliant way to go!

•Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?
I like that the site is easy to navigate. I think its best not to add too much stuff and make it complicated. There are enough sites with so much in it that you feel like giving up.

•Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?

Again, I like the fact that is simple, so I would not add too much on it.

Maybe having the ability to include a picture if you wish, of where you are at the moment would be fun. I also recommend that you let the client know that this would be only for immediate friends and family.
Facebook has a great PR problem because anyone can access your information. Maybe you can make it harder for anyone from the outside to access.

    •Will you return to OlderSibling?
Yes. Its a fun way to keep in touch without a lot of work.

  10. Personally I think this could be a good site but given to the wrong person could be bad. A parent or caretaker would find it useful being able to track their child or the person they are taking care of. But a stalker or someone bad like a terrorist would be able to track your movements and that might not be a good thing. Ask yourself if you would want someone tracking your every movement. It should have more security to it so that it prevents people like that from accessing where you are. The site is overall pretty good. Good layout good concept. Just needs a little more security and it would be great.

  11. This site is about allowing friends and family track your location based on your cell phone.

This is not a service that I an adult would find useful. I do not care to be tracked by friends or family. I also tend to leave my phone at work etc. So it really does not appeal to me.

The sign up process was really easy.

I do not like installing any type of software like this on my computer.
The site seems a really boring. It could use a bit more graphics/color etc. The mapping feature was cool.

I would suggest marketing this to people with children or teenagers. They may be interested in knowing where the children are at all times if possible. I may recommend it friends who have children or who loose their phones a lot…

I would not return to the https://www.oldersibling.com.

  12. What do you think the site is about?

This sight is about tracking, via bluetooth, family and friends without any of the special gadgets and with constantly checking in with anyone.

Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?
I think is in a very valuable service to have. Most of the newer phones are all bluetooth enabled and that allows for easy usage by virtually anyone with a phone and computer. The overwhelming fact that it’s free and easy to use had to attract many customers to your site. As a parent with teenagers and pressures of growing up it’s nice to have to service that can tract them with out buying some pricey device or service.

Sign up for OlderSibling. Did you understand the signup process?
Yes I found the sign-up to be very easy. It asked very basic questions about oneself and didn’t take a lot of time and energy.

Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?
I really like the header picture on the first page, that was a great visual lead in to the service provided. I also liked out there was a video tutorial, that can really appeal to everyone, especially some of your older clients. I think the sight in an of it’s is visually simple. It seems like it can have more jazz to it. The tabs on the side of the first learn more page are almost unnoticeable because they are so light in color. Also the diagram on the same page is nice to look at but I think the circle should encompass the whole layout picture.

Some of the language used needs to be cleaned up. Some people may like your honesty but others might just find it offensive. You want to make sure you appeal to everyone.

Example:…”where I left my damn car keys.”

Furthermore, I thought most of the pictures on this site were just unprofessional. The first picture standing in the sand was okay but the rest were not. One picture the owner is clearly holding a beer and the other there is a glass of wine. It almost seems like there should be an alcohol disclaimer. Customers might get the wrong impression of the owner. None of us should know what you do in your past time. If your going to have pictures at least make them relevant to the service your offer.

The colors on the page are simply boring. There’s no section where people can see what others are saying about your service. Also people maybe concerned about downloading software your their computer. What if someone downloads it and a virus is attached what will your company do for that client? All though this service is very simple and free to use, someone could just simply disable their bluetooth function. That is a major drawback to me. I also don’t think this service is helpful for adult to adult tracking. Again as an adult I could just simply enable my bluetooth.

Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?
Overall the sight needs to be revamped.

    Will you return to OlderSibling?
Possibly after some changes are made. It sounds great but it needs some cleaning up.

  13. What do you think the site is about?

The site is about Blue tooth tracking of family member’s location by their cell phone using the computer and our software.

Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?

Yes, I think the service is very useful and helpful for keeping an eye on our loved ones without knowing them that w are tracking them so its awesome.

Sign up for OlderSibling. Did you understand the signup process?

The sign uo process is quite simple and easy so even a newbie can signup on thi site.

Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?

The idea and application is good but site is not as good as it should be. Site is boring so try yo make some improvement in site and make it vibrant.

Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?

Yes I have the suggestion is to improve the website layout

    Will you return to OlderSibling?.

Ytes, I will because I like it.

  14. 1>this great site is about a device which have a ability to detect the location.by using this unique device anybody will be able to detect the location of his/her relatives or friend.without depending on any the site has a very much useful information or guidelines which i have never seen in any website.the content is unique and very much useful .human.

2.this service would be very much useful for all .because due to this service we could detect the location of our relatives/friend if they are in trouble.when they do lying with us so we would be able to tell them where they were.and they were lying with us.and would be very much useful for parents.

3.the sign up process was very easy to understand.

4.the content of website is very unique and useful for every body i like the content and information provided by the website.

5.i think the site is very good and would be very useful for everybody.

6.of course why not.not only me everyone who read the site carefully with presence of mind.

    4.

  15. • Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?
The site allows you to track your friends and family members by his/her cell phone just by using the computer. This site allows you to locate your friends/family quickly, and accurately. Instead of having someone say they are someone else and by typing a message like “I am at home”, you will be able to “really” tell where they are. I think this service can be very useful. I can think of various ways to use this service, including in the workplace. An employee will not be able to call in sick and say they are home in bed, but actually someone else, you will be able to tell exactly where they are.
Sign up for Older Sibling. Did you understand the signup process?
I signed up on the site, and I thought the process was very instructional, along with the tutorial. I think this would be a great asset.

    • Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?
I like everything about the software, especially in my workplace, there are times when you have to track employees but you are not sure if they are really sick, or really where they say they are.

    • Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?
My suggestions would to not make the user able to have control over the software. The control should be on the administrator. In this case, the parents when relating to kids, or the manager when relating to employees.

    • Will you return to Older Sibling?
I will definitely return to the website.

  16. This website is for the tracking of children or friends that have bluetooth enabled technologies.

I think that this could be very useful in tracking children to determine their correct location, as long as the parent is the one doing the tracking. I do not like the idea of others being able to track my children and know their whereabouts at any time.

I liked the ease of the sign up process. However I would like to delete the account and was unable to figure out how to do so. This should be an option that is easier to locate and take care of.
One concern I have is that of an abusive spouse. It would be completely too easy for one to track the other spouse and locate them to do them harm. The fact that there is a warning about the risks of being tracked by those you would not want to is a good thing.

I will not be returning to this site for the simple fact that I do not currently have the technology needed to use the service…maybe on down the line.

  17. Bolded not allowed.

    • Visit https://www.oldersibling.com. What do you think the site is about?

Looks like your family and friends will be able to track your every move via this website.

    • Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?

No, it seems kind of creepy, almost like a ball and chain around the ankles, microchips, and tracking devices under cars.

    • Sign up for OlderSibling. Did you understand the signup process?

Yes, but you may want to state why a photo is required; it seems kind of invasive.

    • Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?

    Yes, see above.

    • Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?

For suggestions, see above. Recommendations are to include a link to a printable “full disclose policy.” This is different from a privacy policy and separate from a terms of service.

    • Will you return to OlderSibling?

    No.

  18. Visit https://www.oldersibling.com. What do you think the site is about?

The site is like a social network in a way only that instead of updating where one is like in facebook, your friends and family simply watch your every move via the bluetooth technology through bluetooth enabled devices like phones and computers.

Is this a service you think you would find useful? Why or why not?

Yes and no. Yes in the case of parent who want to know where their kids are and when. Or where someone is on probation and the authorities want to watch the person’s every move, and no because it violates people’s privacy.

Sign up for OlderSibling. Did you understand the signup process?

The process of signing up was rather straight forward. I like the fact that it’s even possible to test whether one’s machine is bluetooth enabled.

Do you have any particular likes, dislikes, or concerns about our site?

I like the site for it is very interesting. I would like to know where a particular person is at a particular moment. My only concern is that they can do the same to me and I dont think I’d be so comfortable with that.

Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?

In order to deal with the privacy issue, I wish there was a way one can decide on whether to be ‘seen’ or not. If one can only be viewed when logged in, then the system is very on point. That way, one is able to control what gets out there.

    Will you return to OlderSibling?

I’ll definately return. As I said, it is a very interesting site. It makes you feel like an all omni-present person.
