Love the fact that it brings up in how many hours the restaurant will open. Clicking on various items will also bring up a map, picture of the restaurant, and website. I also notice that “Yelp†is a link on your restaurant sites; this is probably a good idea, because the more information that you can pass to the consumer the better off you will be. People are usually in a hurry, and once your site is better known people may gravitate to it rather than “Yelp.â€
The one thing that I did enjoy in working with your site and with “Yelpâ€00 is that one can select where in San Francisco they wish to dine, for example I selected Italian restaurants in the Fisherman’s Wharf area, and that’s all that was brought up on the site. However they seemed to be listed in a random fashion, not alphabetized or by the number of reviews.
Your site is trying to focus in on exactly when the restaurant will open, and “Yelp†doesn’t do that, so if I want to eat now, I will go to your site rather than to “Yelp.â€

With “Yelp†I can select Fisherman’s Wharf, Italian restaurants and it pulls up only Italian restaurants in that vicinity. However with opennowsf, you can’t do that. If you select Fisherman’s Wharf everything in that category comes up, and if you select Italian, everything Italian comes up. If you live in San Francisco this would probably not be an issue, however, I find that a visitor to San Francisco would love that feature installed.

Very much so. As soon as I typed in pizza all these restaurant’s showed up with the locations and the phone number. I loved the fact you could see when it was closing. Google/Yelp sometimes take various searches to find what I’m looking for but this was plain and simple.

Expand it for more locations. Also, the ones that are marked unknown I would find out the times they closed because a lot people would rather see it than have to call.

I don’t live in SF but I checked out the site anyhow and I have to say it’s pretty darn awesome. Â I love the fact that when you choose a particular restaurant the day is already highlighted green so you don’t have to wonder which day it is because your eyes are already drawn to the green.
Love the fact that you can easily access the restaurant’s website with a click.
Also think it’s kinda cool that there’s a countdown to close time.
Like that when you click the address to the restaurant BAM it pops up in Google maps!
Absolutely nothing bad to say about this site other than my suggestion below 😉

This is such a great idea! I don’t live in San Francisco, but since it was such a good concept, I decided to try it out. I like that the website looks sleek, and clean. I entered “Italian” into the search box, and I found tons of restaurants. I really like how the ones that are open, are highlighted in green, this makes it easier than google. The countdown for when the restaurant closes is also a great feature. If I ever visited SF, this would be the site I would turn to.
What would you change about the site to improve it?
I would add more cities. I would also make sure that all of the restaurants in the database has the opening and closing times, this would make the site one of the best.

The opening side-bar of the site is visually chic which wins my attention moreso than Google or Yelp. It’s to the point, user-friendly, and thankfully not bogged down with distracting ads. I can see this being memorable in a visitor’s mind, and becoming a go-to site as the need for dining options present themselves.

It’s fully functional on mobile, but the page is elongated moreso on an android smartphone [Nexus] than on pc. Mobile optimization and even an app could go a long way with college students, and business people who travel frequently. An option to collect sms-sized reviews could also add value the site. Some consumers like to browse and collect opinions. With the average attention span today, 140 character reviews could encourage alot of curious minds to log on and find new restaurants based on both open locations and mini-reviews, and it wouldn’t likely take up too much server space.
Visually, bringing up the Restaurant name and address with the logo [if available], while making the Google map an option that doesn’t appear unless it’s clicked on, could improve the site aesthetic. Google’s map is not as attractive as the site itself.
More available locations would be wonderful. As a site and app the potential for this to become a first choice for finding available nearby restaurants is great. New York is another great spot with an abundance of eateries.
A premium option where restaurants can apply to be featured with a more interactive or aesthetically-specialized page might also be useful.
