About ParkGrades:
ParkGrades offers one-stop discovery for parks, playgrounds, beaches, and museums across the United States.
The need for a site like ParkGrades is clear to any parent of young children. Ask a given parent about parks near them, and you’ll have a good idea of what’s out there. But ask that same parent if they know which park they’d recommend across town, across state, or across the country – there’s no great way to find that out! Until now.
Before ParkGrades, you might have been able to look at a map and see if any parks were nearby. But you wouldn’t know if the park is what you’re looking for — if it’s clean, if there’s a view, if it has both a basketball court and a tot lot, or a tennis court and a swingset.
You can use ParkGrades to easily find a great place for :
- Celebrating a family reunion
- Meeting up with friends from across town
- Shooting a few hoops after that big recital
- Leting the kids get some energy out halfway through a road trip
- And more!
I like the idea. I am using FF v3.6 for my review.
I tried to do a search for “dog parks” under Amenities with ZIP code 60078 and a 100 miles radius. No results came back–odd since this would have included Chicago.
I like the integration with google maps, decent layout. Under the search listings, you may also want to add a column to indicate various part amenities.
I registered, seemed easy enough… I’d definitely integrate into foursquare (also the badges make it more intriguing).
Good Luck!
Hi,
first impression – looks great.
Few thoughts:
* search box should be more exposed (placed in the middle? more padding? increase the size?)
* I would suggest to use Geolocation API to retrieve and display “local” parks (mobile users for example)
* I would change the Google Maps API to v3 instead of v2.
* I don’t really understand what is the benefit of becoming a member…
Maximum Filesize: 75 MB – is this a typo? 😉
