About PopuGamer:

PopuGamer is a crowd-sourced video gaming review site focused 100% on user reviews. We’re bucking the antiquated game reviews paradigm and bringing video game review power back to real, everyday gamers.

At PopuGamer, there are no professional reviewers or editorial teams dishing out potentially biased content to readers. Our users decide what games are relevant without the influence of publishing deadlines or game company promotions. We believe in the value of user opinions, and our goal is to provide a platform where all gamers – not just those with relationships with game companies or access to pre-release games – can discuss, debate, and discover great games. With PopuGamer, you’ll get honest reviews from real, everyday gamers.

  1. What do you think of the sign up process?

I logged in with Facebook, which is very simple.  I always love it when sites have this option.  I might give a site a try when I otherwise wouldn’t if Facebook connect is an option.

What do you think of the review submission process?

I’m a little annoyed than when I click review, I’m taken to the game’s description and a listing of others reviews.  I then have to click review AGAIN to enter information.  I feel the review box should pop up first.
What do you like about the site?

I think it’s a great concept – a flair of democracy in the fate of perhaps less marketed games.
What would you change about the site?

I despised getting the “n00b” reviewer badge.  It’s a bit of a backhanded compliment, don’t you think?  I would try to think of another name for it.

What’s my incentive for submitting reviews, other than the badges?  Can I at least get a t-shirt or free game after x number of reviews?

I wish your forum was on-site rather than hosted on another platform.  Gives the whole site a less professional feel.  Plus, I’m annoyed that I have to login separately here.

    On adding games:

“If you want mass traffic to your site, just add Minecraft to your games. I was shocked to type in “Minecraft” in the search box and get back 0 results. Please give users an easy way to add or suggest games to the list. People want to participate but can’t if their favorite games aren’t listed.”

What?  We can’t add the games ourselves?

Why does “Add a Game” take me to the forum?  Why not just a submission form?  It doesn’t have to immediately populate on the site, but could be sent to admin to be added later.

  2. What do you think of the sign up process?
Sign up process seems straight forward except that I didn’t get why I needed to give my full name.  That will turn a lot of people away…at least at first until the site is better known.  Even then, I wouldn’t like to give my info to provide some reviews.  Also, why can there be no capital letters or numbers in the screen name?  Seems odd.
What do you think of the review submission process?
I liked it.  I specially liked the pros and cons boxes.  I would, however, add a general info box.  Most reviews aren’t just talking about the good and the bad.  You should have some area to flesh out more information about the game.
What do you like about the site?
I like the concept of actual gamers doing the reviews.  This way you are reading real opinions.  It also gives just about any game a fair chance at a review.  No big wigs buying good reviews here!

What would you change about the site?
My opinion would be to maybe change the background color of the different sections.  This way it is easy to tell one review from the next.  Or in the case of the home page, it is easier to tell apart the Top Games, New Releases, and Popular Games sections.

Although I like the concept of gamers doing the reviews I also dislike it.  By that I mean, what is to stop top game companies from flooding their games with good reviews?  Also, the people doing the reviews aren’t going to be real journalists so reading some of the reviews could be a bit on the boring side…that is to be seen though.

  3. What I think of the sign up process is the following; I like it, because it’s very easy to sign up, it just ask for very little information, such as username, email address, first name, last name, choose a password, confirm password, You must agree to the fine print to create an account, agree, I agree, and then you have to click create an accont button, to create an account. When in other site’s that I have signed up for ask for more information, such as my address.

What I think of the review submission process is the following:  I kind of like it because it tells the viewer how many member reviews it has, it shows the pro’s and cons of each review, it has the year of the games reviewed, it has the dumbs up and thumb down ratings, The name of the video games reviewd, you can send messages to the reviewers, the reviewers name, it has where you can follow the user, it has add a friend.

What I like about the site is that it’s very useful, for example, it has home, top games, reviews, forums, about, blog, add a game, invite a friend, type your search here, login with facebook, login, join.

What I would change about the site is the following: I would add a contact us tab on the homepage, so if a visitor to this website has any questions or problem they can contact the website representatives to solve their problems and issues.

additional feedback/comments you I  have is that I think they should not have a contact email on the about section of the wesite, but rather have a contact us link at the top or bottom ot the homepage, with phone and email contact.

  4. What do you think of the sign up process?
I think that the sign up process is easy.  I like the must agree to the “fine print”.
What do you think of the review submission process?
The feedback tab on the side seems to blend in with the site.  After clicking on the feedback tab, the options are confusing.  I like the tabs that is provided for choosing what kind of feedback you want to give.  I also think that this block is busy, too much in it.
What do you like about the site?
I like the variety of games to give feedback to.  Other than the feedback tab, the site seemed pretty easy to navigate.

What would you change about the site?
The only thing that I would change is where the feedback tab is located and how busy it looks when first opened.

This is a great site for gamers to review and add feedback.  Great variety.  If I were a gamer, I would definitely review games here.
