Visit https://Remembered.com. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about? Is the subject matter presented tastefully?
Remember.com seems to be an online memorial/obituary site. It seems to be pleasantly presented at first glance.
Â
Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What do you find bothersome? What do you like?
The opening page is well displayed. The colour scheme is pleasant, easy, calm. The information on the opening page is well placed, explaining well what the site is about, and what it offers.
Viewing a few of the memorials reveals that they are also pleasantly laid out, easy to access all the information as well as share.
I clicked on the Free Trail link and was brought to an information forum. However, there were not text boxes to fill out (just green with the ‘First Name’ ‘Last Name’ etc. with no boxes besides them).
I signed up (see below), and was a bit disappointed with the menu page that appears after you sign up (the getting started page). The menu/text felt disorganized and more like it was thrown together last minute then put together thoughtfully. It was rather ‘ugly’– the brownish Memorial Dashboard was not very inspiring. It needs to be redesigned to be both more functional and more visually appealing.
Overall, the pages of several of the memorials I viewed seemed quite nice. However, the visual appearance of the ‘my memorial’ page and set up pages were not very nice to look at (the brownish colour is not attractive at all, especially with the green), and could have been easier to navigate (maybe having a left-side block for the ‘STEPS’ text with a nice right-side block with the Dashboard, Requests and Invites).
What do you think of the sign up process? Did you signup with Facebook connect, or native user (email address)?
Registered as a native user. The process was straight forward, simple.
Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why?
Not really. I did, to try the site out. See below for reason.
Â
Would you create a memorial to someone you’ve lost? If not, why?
I would, but I have my own webspace and the tools necessary to create a site that I can more easily monitor and modify and remove without having to pay to keep it up.
Now, If you’d like to create a free memorial to someone, please do so. (At checkout, just enter FREEMEM11 in the coupon box)
If you created a memorial, please let us know the following:
What did you think of the memorial creation process?
The process is easy despite the ugly Dashboard menu. You can link it to facebook pages as well.Â
I created a quick memorial. The process was straight forward, easy, though the menus/pages used in creating it were not visually appealing. It was also easy to edit and to invite people to view it. Adding the photos was typical–select the photos you want to load and go. Having to select a photo you want as your ‘cover’ photo first was a pain, as I had to upload the rest of the photos in two goes (so as to not upload that photo again needlessly). Maybe have the ability to choose the cover photo from those you already uploaded would be a better feature.  The pages for the upload photos was again not overly attractive– those browns don’t go with the green at all.
I clicked on the ‘Subscription Plan’ button but was sent back to the site’s homepage.
I could not view my page after setting it up. It kept bringing me back to the homepage. Even after inviting myself (different email address), logging out and clicking on the invite I could not view it.
What did you think of the invite process?
Linking to one’s entire address book may work for some, but for many people there are a lot of people they don’t want to send such an email to. Setting up the CV takes a bit of time. Writing them in one at a time is also a bit time consuming. Sadly, there really isn’t any other way to do it. Regardless, it works. The information about invites you sent, that have been accepted and stats are good additions.Â
Being sent to the ‘home page’ again after sending an invite is frustrating. Being sent back to your memorials page would be nice.
What did you think of the checkout process?
Despite clicking around I couldn’t find a check-out page.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like Legacy.com and Tributes.com?
Legacy.com seems to be much more organized and professional. It is easier to navigate and explore. Tributes.com also seems more organized. Both seem to offer more features and also connection to services, offers for books, etc..
Are there any features/functions that you think the site is missing?
It would be nice to be able to delete memorials you have created. Also, how to I remove my profile (remember, I am just testing, not using for keeps!) ?
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
A fair number of bugs that need to be worked out it seems. I could not view the memorial I created, could not find the check-out option after clicking on most of the links I could find, and found too many things that were not visually appealing and detracted from the user-friendliness of the site (mainly the My Memorials page). Needs a bit of work to match Legacy and Tributes.
I am a bit concerned about some of the memorials posted. Are they, at the moment, examples or real pages? Example is ” Kelsey Brigggs’s ” site, which is both disturbing in the content/description and poorly written.

Visit https://Remembered.com. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about? Is the subject matter presented tastefully?
It is clear that this site is to remember people who have died, and I think it is presented tastefully.
Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What do you find bothersome? What do you like?
On your homepage, in the “free trial” paragraph section, I don’t think you should tell the price upfront. Instead present your selling points and convince someone to use your service. Then, if they like it and are convinced, they will look for the prices on a “Pricing” page, which I think you should have in navigation.
What do you think of the sign up process? Did you signup with Facebook connect, or native user (email address)?
Easy. Did not want to sign in with Facebook and allow access to my information.

Legacy.com appears to be a nice website. My impression is that it is a nice site. Because I see some obvious improvements for your site, I would place their site a notch above yours. Your site appears to be newer.
Are there any features/functions that you think the site is missing?
I like the 30 day free trial, money back guarantee.

Â
Visit https://Remembered.com. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about? Is the subject matter presented tastefully?
I think this site is a memorial site for love ones lost and a place where anyone can create an online website/profile to share images, comments, memories etc with friends and family. At first glance it does look tastefully presented and I don’t think offends anyone or does any injustice to those lost.
Â
Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What do you find bothersome? What do you like?
HOMEPAGE:
Like
– It’s simple and not too cluttered
– The green color scheme is fresh and not dull and dreary. This site is about celebrating ones life so I think a fresh, vibrant color like the green is a great choice.
– Easily explains the process on the home page in three simple steps “create, invite, share”
– Homepage simply explains what the site is about, don’t have to go searching around the site for answers.
Dislike
– Would be nice to see another color on the home page that compliments the green color scheme. I like the green but everything is too green. The blue color of the “free trial” button works well with the green and I think it would be nice to see more of that color added to the homepage.
– A fancier logo that actually stands out. I feel the logo doesn’t feel important enough for what this site is about. I feel it is lacking meaning and feeling, it just looks like someone has said “oh well that font will do”.
– A bigger navigation bar with larger text. It seems to get lost on the home page because it doesn’t stand out and the text is small.
– I noticed the “online memorials” listed down the side bar and it made me think, would I want my loved ones name there. For me that answer would be no. So is there an option to make the memorial pages private and only accessible to those you invite? I will be looking for this answer as I make my way through the site.
MEMORIALS: I visited some of the listed memorials
Like
– I like the memorial wall, my only concern is that anyone can write on it. I’m afraid some silly people could ruin this feature if the site becomes popular.
– Like the thumbnails of the photo’s displayed across the top of the page.
– Easy to navigate the memorial page to get to the photo’s, wall etc.
Dislike
– That every memorial has the same green color scheme. If I created a memorial for someone I loved I would like to be able to choose the color scheme, what if the person hated the color green.
– I didn’t see any memorials with videos, is there an option to upload small video clips of loved ones?
– All memorials look similar and seem to lack their own individual personality.
Â
FEATURES PAGE:
Like
– Clearly states what features you get for your money.
– Found the answer to my question that I mentioned above about being able to make the page private and the answer is yes but only in the legacy memorial plan.
Dislike
– I find the big green ticks unattractive and I feel they don’t tie in with the rest of the site illustrations. The green is a different hue from the color scheme, so it doesn’t actually tie in well and once again too much green.
– I don’t think it’s necessary to have the tiny little thumb nail pictures next to each feature. I feel this is a little tacky.
– Overall I think this page could be more tastefully done and look more professional.
Â
SUPPORT PAGE:
Like
– Simply laid out and easy to navigate from questions to answers.
– Seems to be an adequate amount of information.
Dislike
_ When I clicked on the link to support center is showed that I must be signed in to use that feature.
– When I clicked “I still have more questions. Who can I speak with?” this also advised me to use the support center and once again needed to be a member of the site to use it. So what if someone has a question they would like an answer to before they sign up or about the sign up process? What if someone is having difficulties signing up, Who can they contact?
Â
What do you think of the sign up process? Did you signup with Facebook connect, or native user (email address)?
I didn’t sign up with facebook instead I used my email address. I clicked on the tiny little green “new user” button at the top of the page. I suggest this could be bigger which would make it easier to spot. It was a quick and straightforward sign up with the basic questions. Although the page I was re directed to after sign up, “getting started” I found very messy and not well laid out. I thought the dashboard color didn’t tie in with the site and the wishy washy brown/orange looked dreary. Where is more of that lovely, vibrant blue color.
Â
Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why?
I signed up just to test out the process but if I came across this site as a general user then no I probably wouldn’t sign up at this stage. I haven’t actually lost someone that close to me yet, so I have no need at this stage in my life to create a memorial page. Also I don’t know anyone personally who’s memorials are listed so I feel there would be no need for me to sign up.
Â
Would you create a memorial to someone you’ve lost? If not, why?
Like I mentioned above I haven’t lost anyone, so no I would not create a memorial. If I did however loose someone I honestly don’t think I would use remembered.com. To me the memorial pages seem to lack personality and individuality. All the memorials have the same color scheme and layout. If I was paying for a service like this, even though it’s a one off fee I would like to see more options when it came to how the memorial looked, layout, color etc. I also feel I would be paying for something that I can do elsewhere for free and have more features. For example on facebook I could create a page for free where family and friends could post photo’s, video’s, comments etc. I could also create a free blog as a memorial.

If you created a memorial, please let us know the following:
What did you think of the memorial creation process, the invite process and the checkout process?
I didn’t create a free memorial. As I mentioned I haven’t lost anyone close to me and I feel it would be wrong to test the process by creating a fake alias.
Â
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like Legacy.com and Tributes.com?
I feel both sites look a little more professional than yours. You can also tell that these sites have been around a bit longer and are being used, your site still feel very new. I really like the Tributes logo, I feel it has importance, warmth and meaning and I think this is what your logo is lacking. I also like the legacy.com tag line “Where life stories live on” once again shows meaning. I think your site could do with little heart felt warm touches like these. I think the legacy site is very well laid out and I like their legacy connect section. I didn’t find it easy though on each site to work out whether or not I could sign up and create a personal memorial for someone.
Â
Are there any features/functions that you think the site is missing?
Being able to upload video content would be nice and able to choose a color scheme for the memorial pages. I saw one of the memorials said look at you tube plenty of video’s there, so why not be able to have them on the memorial page instead. Not sure if there is a spell check feature on the site or not when it comes to people writing a biography. A few of the biographies I looked through had spelling errors.
Â
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
Little warm touches on the site would go a long way.
Â
Visit https://Remembered.com. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about? Is the subject matter presented tastefully?
In 5-10seconds i cant figure what the site is about. It takes me more than 10seconds to figure out that the site is about creating a site that contain the memorial of beloved or family member by reading the description. The site is simple, but the description is too long for me. I suggest you can use a shorter sentence that can represent what your site is about. Example: Create your memorial website for your beloved one with us! Â this is enough to let people know what the site is about. you can highlight the sentence, make it bigger to caught people attention when they first visit. It is important let the visitor know what the site is about in just seconds, then they will continue to read the description. For me, it does not look attractive or tastefully, the layout design is too simple, you can come out with a more colorful layout as life is fill with colorful, which suit your title. Â
Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What do you find bothersome? What do you like?
At first, i want to comment about the Free trial button. The button will make me feel like leaving this site, because when i know it’s a trial, it means that i have to pay after it. People are very realistic. In this way, i  suggest you change the button word into Free to join. People will likely to join if they know it’s free. You can then tell them about the feature and the package you offer after they registered. What i like is that you display the step of creating a site, which make people feel it’s easy and attract people to try it. But it’s not that interesting. You can create it in a slideshows to display to steps and add some screenshot of feature you have or screenshot of sample memorial site. It can give people a clear view about what your site is about and how does it look like when they creating a memorial site. I like that you connect to the social site which is another way for marketing.Â
What do you think of the sign up process? Did you signup with Facebook connect, or native user (email address)?
I signed with facebook, it is simple, i don’t have to type anything. After logged in, it displaying the home page, which i don’t know what i should do next after logged in. I prefer after sign up, the site will direct me to my profile.
Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why?
For now no, because i’m interested in creating a memorial site right now. Maybe in the future if i wanted to create it for someone, i might sign up for the free trial.Â
Would you create a memorial to someone you’ve lost? If not, why?
No, because i think that keeping their photos in a photo album is enough for me. I would prefer to create a website contain all the photos and story of me n my beloved or my family.

How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like Legacy.com and Tributes.com?
First they provide a search engine for people to search for the memorial of a person, this is a great feature that you can have it in your homepage. I know that you have the visit memorial page, i would prefer if you have a search engine in the homepage for the convenient of the visitors. For the tribute.com they provide pets memorial as well, so i guess you can have this kind of service also. The more service you provide the more people will refer to your site. I more prefer to your site layout as it make me feel comfort when viewing it compare to other sites. The picture in the homepage is very suitable and i suggest you should put more picture like that to make the site look more professional and attractive. Now, you have to come out with something that other site don’t provide. Such as, creating a album, video or slideshows of the beloved.Â
Are there any features/functions that you think the site is missing?
Like i mentioned above, allowing the customer to create video, slideshow or album for the beloved one. Add feature such as decorating or editing their photos, provide a video slideshows with suitable songs played in the background. All this service can attract many customers.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
I think i have mentioned most of it above. I suggest that you can list down what service, features and benefits you have on the homepage. Also add up why people should join your site and what benefits they can get. Make it short. It will make visitor clear about what they can get from your site. A slideshows displaying the screenshot and the steps of how your site works would make your site look more interesting and professional in the homepage.
Â
Visit https://Remembered.com. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about? Is the subject matter presented tastefully? My very first thought was WOW!! From looking over the site, and not really reading any particular area, I tell that the website was created to remember the ones that you love that have passed away. I think the subject matter is presented very tasteful.
Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What do you find bothersome? What do you like? I visited one of the memorials, and I think the memorials should be edited before being posted. I also think the memorial should be an actual Biography of the person’s life, and not a section where the individual entering in the memorial is remembering certain parts of the individuals life. Â The FAQ section is very tasteful.
What do you think of the sign up process? Did you signup with Facebook connect, or native user (email address)? I think the the sign up process is simple. I wouldn’t sign in with my Facebook. I am very cautious about using my username and password on websites.
Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why? I would sign up for a free trial.
Would you create a memorial to someone you’ve lost? If not, why? I would create a memorial for someone that I lost. I like the idea of having somewhere available for family members and friends to go, and to be able to remember them whenever they felt the need. I feel that it could help some in their healing process. The ability to realize that the individual is gone from their presence, but the individual that passed is still with them.
Now, If you’d like to create a free memorial to someone, please do so. (At checkout, just enter FREEMEM11 in the coupon box) I don’t have anyone to create a memorial for. But thank you for the offer!
If you created a memorial, please let us know the following:
What did you think of the memorial creation process, the invite process and the checkout process?
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like Legacy.com and Tributes.com?
Are there any features/functions that you think the site is missing? The only thing I would add to the site is somewhere to add positive memories, or positive sayings that the individual may be remembered for.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have. I think you have done an outstanding job on your website. The colors are inviting and relaxing. I think if someone visited your site and they were mourning, that they would be able to go through your site, and leave your site feeling better. Losing someone is difficult, but you have managed to find a way to comfort individuals during their time of lost. Besides editing the entries and making sure they are in the correct section and adding on a positive memories or sayings tab, I personally would not make any changes to your website.
Â
Additional comments:
I also wanted to add that the “Online Memorials” section on your homepage might be better serving if you had a large link or button that says “View online memorials” and then have the list of names on a separate page. This will free up space on your homepage so you can focus on selling your brand and convincing people to use your service.
Good FAQ section.
On the “Features Page,” which I think should be retitled “Pricing” page, the last one – Have a private memorial for invitation-only guests, I don’t see how you can monitor that. Are you talking about a private online memorial hosted by your website, or are you talking about a private service at a real location? This is confusing.
Visit https://Remembered.com. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about? Is the subject matter presented tastefully?
Yes, the site is well organized and the subject matter is displayed respectfully.
Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What do you find bothersome? What do you like?
I did not see anything bothersome. I however will admit I do like how easy to read the site is.
What do you think of the sign up process? Did you signup with Facebook connect, or native user (email address)?
No, I did not sign up. Yet, its sign up process is very easy to understand. It also uses facebook to sign in.
Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why?
No, I do not at this time have anyone in need of a memorial.
Would you create a memorial to someone you’ve lost? If not, why?
It would depend on the person and if I chose to mourn in private.

How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like Legacy.com and Tributes.com?
I believe this site is just as good as any of those. These sites aspire to help those mourn the loss of a loved one.
Are there any features/functions that you think the site is missing?
I would like if it there was an option to allow virtual flowers or sympathy posts.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
I find the site very thoughtful as it hopes to help those suffering from the death of a loved one a time to remember that person as well as mourn.
What do you think the site is about? It is for a loved ones who have passed on and create a page dedicated to them.
Is the subject matter presented tastefully? Yes, I think the page created is done tastefully. It has a very basic design feel to it. Could use a little lift in that area.
Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What do you find bothersome? What do you like? Registration was easy. I liked that it gave a check as you entered your information. It will also state how strong the password is. The actual input of information for the memorial page is user friendly and not hard to navigate.
Â
What do you think of the sign up process? Did you signup with Facebook connect, or native user (email address)? I didn’t want to link the registration to my facebook account since I will not use the service. But if I did, it’s nice I could link it via facebook for family or friends to see.
Â
Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why? I personally would not at this time since I do not have some one to create it for.
Â
Would you create a memorial to someone you’ve lost? If not, why? I don’t like the fact that the links to other people’s memorials are open to anyone to view. I think it should have security that facebook utilizes for either serivce you pay for. They could post a sample memorial to see what the finished product would look.
Visit https://Remembered.com. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about? Is the subject matter presented tastefully?
Well when i initially went on the site and saw “remembered.com” and “celebrating lifetimes” I immediately thought it had to do with either creating/sharing galleries of past experiences and or loved ones.
Generally death is a hard topic for one to make pleasant, but I think you all definitely achieved that.
Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What do you find bothersome? What do you like?
I am extremely pleased with the presentation of the homepage. It colour scheme is very relaxing and easy on the eyes. I also appreciate the fact that it is also very simplistic and easy to maneuver. Additionally I also liked how on the homepage you presented as to how easy it is to make a memorial, just three simple steps. Â
Generally it was very difficult to find anything bothersome about the site. The only negative I have is that when I was viewing the memorials, I realized that the buttons which read “Bio, Announcements, Memory wall etc” seemed a bit incomplete, as in the lacked color, which to me seemed kind of incomplete and bland.Â
What do you think of the sign up process? Did you signup with Facebook connect, or native user (email address)?
The sign up process was very straightforward and simple which I loved. I signed up with Facebook, as to me it was easier and required less work. Plus linking my account to facebook would aid in sharing the memorial.Â
Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why?
No. If I were to create a memorial I would want it to be private, and as a result would opt for an account which gives me some level of privacy.Â
Would you create a memorial to someone you’ve lost? If not, why?
No. Personally I would just rather forget about the past and move on with life.Â
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like Legacy.com and Tributes.com?
Tributes.com seems a bit more developed and advanced (graphics and cool slideshows on the homepage). I also liked the fact that the site pays respect to historic figured, September 11 vicitms, war viterans etc etc, which in some respects authenticates the site. The abovementioned site also has more features, such as “LegacyConnect” and “ObiterMessenger”. Your site also has a tab entitled “Features” which I was rather disappointing with, as it didn’t list or mention any features, but rather your pricing.Â
Are there any features/functions that you think the site is missing?
Having memorials of historic persons, such as Martin Luther Kings, War Vets etc etc would be ideal. Having features such as a funeral home directory may also be beneficial. Probably having videos of the life (biography) of historic figures would be really cool and would definitely set you apart from your competitors. You could also have a support community/ forum; articles about how to cope with losses and probably daily tips ‘on moving forward’ etc.

Visit https://Remembered.com. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about? Is the subject matter presented tastefully?
At first glace and the time allowed to visit this site I see it is a memory site. Where you may create an account and share with others memories of loved ones who have died. I feel that this is very well presented and very nice idea for all. I like the idea of creating a memory of a loved one who has passed away.
Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What do you find bothersome? What do you like?
The colors of your website are very appealing, I like the soft green earth tone colors and it offers a calm feeling. You offer an easy guide on how to use your site and create your online memorial. This is a very nice feature especially for first time users and people who are not familiar with the Internet and how to create a memorial page.
I do not like to see all the memorial names listed on the right hand side of the page. I feel that once you have more account this list will be too long to store on the home page of your site. I think a search feature to find the memorial page would make it easier to use and nicer to look at.
The site is very professionally done and offers a money back guarantee if anyone is dissatisfied with your service. I feel this is very important to let your clients know that you stand behind your product and will refund their money if they are not satisfied with your services.
I like the idea that you allow your clients to test and try your services for 30 days. You are confident in your product and know that after the free trial period that your clients will also be happy with your product. This shows a lot of creditability to me about your site and your product.
What do you think of the sign up process? Did you signup with Facebook connect, or native user (email address)?
I think your signup process is very easy and offers multiple options for creating an account. Considering now a day so many people use facebook and this makes it easy for your new clients to create an account through one of their existing accounts.
Â
Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why?
Yes I would sign up for a free trial offer. I think that your service is professional and very well presented. You offer your clients a professional memorial site to help each person through their time of grief. I think that it helps to remember each person after they have passed and your site is a very professional way to create a memorial for your loved ones.
Would you create a memorial to someone you’ve lost? If not, why?
Yes I would create a memorial when I lost someone. I think that my Father is very ill and I am not sure how much longer he has. But on his passing I would defiantly create a memorial on your site for my Father. I think this site would be the perfect place to show how much I loved my Dad and to create a wonderful memorial for him after he passes. For the time being I could not do this because my Father has not passed on as of yet. But when he does I have bookmarked your site and will return to create a memorial for my Father on your site.
Now, If you’d like to create a free memorial to someone, please do so. (At checkout, just enter FREEMEM11 in the coupon box)
Thank you so much for your wonderful offer. At this time I do not have anyone who has passed away that I could take advantage of your free offer. If I had a loved one that had passed away recently I would take you up on your offer and create a free memorial in their honor.
If you created a memorial, please let us know the following:
What did you think of the memorial creation process, the invite process and the checkout process?
I am sorry I did not create a memorial. I do not have a loved one that has passed away. I would have loved to create an account but at this time it is not possible. Thank you for your offer.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like Legacy.com and Tributes.com?
I think your site is very professional well done. I like the look and feel of your homepage. It offers a lot of warmth and feeling in the time of morning for your clients. I feel that you have taken into all accounts the feelings of your clients and have offered each person the most professional site for their needs.
Are there any features/functions that you think the site is missing?
I think it might be nice if a family member or friend could add comments, photos, or other inspiring comments to the memorial that has been created. I feel that if one family member creates a memorial that others in the family should be able to express their feeling and love for the family member who has passed. It might be nice if you could offer a small virtual service for flowers and other types of comments or allowing others to add photos to the memorial site. I think this would add to the benefits of your site and the family members could use one account to express all their feeling on.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
I am very impressed with the services you have to offer. In a time of morning it makes it easier for the ones left behind to find a safe heaven to express their love, emotions, and photos of the loved one who has passed. It makes it a little easier to get through the rough times and allows others to remember the one who is no longer with us.
I like the professionalize of your site, the color scheme, the presentation in your home page, and the confidence you show to your clients offering a money back guarantee right on your home page. This speaks for itself in my opinion. I have a sense of confidence with your company and when one of my family members passes I will come back to your site to create a memorial for them.
Visit https://Remembered.com. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about? Is the subject matter presented tastefully?
The site appears to be a place where users can set up an online memorial for deceased loved ones for a cost. The site has a somewhat dated appearance in my opinion, and the logo, images and overall design remind me somewhat of a funeral home Web site. The inclusion of credit card logos and “Free Trial” and “30 Day Money Back Guarantee” images on the home page seem somewhat crass, to be honest, but I guess it matches the intent of the site.
Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What do you find bothersome? What do you like?
I don’t like the logo, the “Celebrating Lifetimes” image on the home page, or the overall design and cover scheme of the site. It comes across as somewhat old-fashioned, too feminine, and far too pandering for my tastes.
The image on the home page with the older man and the young girls indicates that this site is about nostalgia and old people. I think a site like like this would be better with a bright, bold and colorful design, with uplifting images of people in every stage of life — something life-affirming, positive and energetic, that really makes people feel like they’re celebrating life and humanity, instead of dwelling on the past.
The flower icon on the top left of the home page is confusing: I had no idea it was a link, and I certainly wouldn’t expect it to link to page for funeral notices. Again, there’s something so trite and cliched about the flowery theme.
The login area is very easy to overlook squished up at the top of the pages, and what’s up with the “Login With Facebook” statement beside the login area? I thought it was a link, but it’s not. Does that mean I can only sign in to the site using a Facebook account? That’s a definite turn off.
I appreciate the “1-2-3” steps presented on the home page for creating a memorial. That’s a very useful feature to include, although I think the obvious stock images included for each step are a waste of space, and make the page look a little cheap.
I barely notice the blue links at the bottom of each page (“Memorials”, “Sitemap”, etc.). The color, and the fact they don’t look like links, makes them very easy to ignore.
And now let’s talk about the pages in the “Online Memorials” section of the home page. Is there a way to pick better pages to represent the site? Many of the pages have little or no content, and some that do have content are presented very poorly, with low-quality text and images. The pages for Amy Winehouse and Lucian Freud seem to composed of content from news articles or Wikipedia, and the page for “Kelsey Brigggs” is rather disturbing. As a potential customer, seeing these pages would seriously make me question the legitimacy and reputation of the site.
What do you think of the sign up process? Did you signup with Facebook connect, or native user (email address)?
First, I think there should be another way to sign up besides the “Free Trial” button. I’d place a “Sign Up” button in the login area. That’s where I expected to find it.
The registration page is decent enough, although the “Name” field confused me slightly. Do you want my full name, or does it matter? The Captcha image is a pain to decipher, as they generally are. Do you really have a need for this? It can be really frustrating for users. Also, the “Clear” button beside the “Register” button is pointless. Why would anyone need to clear all the fields they just filled?
I appreciate that I received a confirmation email, and I appreciate that the page I’m directed to after I sign up contains the 1-2-3 steps again, although the use of the term “Memorials Dashboard” strikes me as slightly odd. The “Logout” button on this page is very easy to overlook at the top center. I think it would make more sense if it was on the right side of the page, and somewhere near the main content.
Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why?
No, as I have no need or desire to create an online memorial, although I fully recognize I am not in the site’s target audience.
Would you create a memorial to someone you’ve lost? If not, why?
No, because I choose to remember the people I love privately, and not with online displays.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like Legacy.com and Tributes.com?
Legacy.com appears to be linked to actual newspaper obituaries, which is a plus for them. The content is likely to be much more professional and authoritative. That site also has a somewhat feminine, nostalgic feel to it, but it seems more professional and well-designed.
Tributes.com has a brighter design but has a very geriatric feel in its presentation. I find the old-fashioned, nostagic type of design feeling on all of these sites odd, because, especially in the case of Remembered.com, many, if not most, of the memorials appear to be about younger to middle-aged people, and certainly almost all of the memorial pages are designed by younger or middle-aged people.
Are there any features/functions that you think the site is missing?
The one glaring thing I find that’s missing is any information about the site’s “staff”, which is referred to in various places. On a site dealing with the memorial of real people, it would be nice, reassuring, and little more humane to have some information on the people who created the place.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
Just a few little things I noticed around the site that bother me: the blog hasn’t been updated since March, and there aren’t many posts on the blog anyway. If you’re going to have a blog, it would be best to keep it updated as much as possible. It comes across like the site may have been abandoned or neglected otherwise.
Also, on the “About Us” page, there are at a few errors in the text that stand out, and it feels unprofessional. There are two lines in the statement missing vital words: “For the past year we’ve worked on creating this new website for people share the lives and memories of their loved ones.” There should be a “to” between “people” and “share”. “Obviously pictures and comments from friends and family can say a lot more about person than a simple headstone can.” There should be an “a” between “about” and “person”. And a comma between “complicated” and “We” is inappropriate in the following sentence: “And life itself can be complicated, we touched upon many sensitive issues such as privacy, religion, security, and how best to care for a legacy going forward.” A colon or semi-colon would be a better choice.
I like that the company’s address is displayed on the “About Us” page, but again, it might make the site feel more legitimate if we saw the name(s) of the person(s) responsible for the site. It would feel more personable and more engaging, and might reduce potential suspicions about the site’s legitimacy. I notice that even on the blog, there is no name given for the person who writes the posts. What’s to hide?
Visit https://Remembered.com. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the home page. What do you think the site is about? Is the subject matter presented tastefully?
I believe the site’s purpose is creating memory pages for deceased loved ones. I think the subject matter is presented in a tasteful manner. There is a picture of an older man showing what is probably his grandchildren photos of someone. I guess the concept is that no matter where your family members are located, they will all be able to get on the memory site and upload/view pictures, and have discussions about the deceased loved one.
Now go back to the site and comment on various elements of the site. What do you find bothersome? What do you like?
I really like how easy the site seems to be. The sign-up link is right there on the main page, as it should be, and the links to log-in and view pages are all right on the homepage. Having proper navigation is very important. You can even log in with Facebook, that way you don’t have to fill out any information and you can link the site to family members you have on your Facebook friend list. I don’t like that you have to pay after the 30-day trial is over, though.
What do you think of the sign up process? Did you signup with Facebook connect, or native user (email address)?
Â
I think the signup process is fairly easy because you can use Facebook connect to do it. That way you’re not sitting there typing in your name, birthdate, etc. I do not like signing up for sites, at all, so the connect feature that a lot of sites are offering now is awesome!
Would you sign up for a free trial/free account? If not, why?
Yes, I would sign up for a free trial, but I would not pay for this service after the 30-day free trial. There is no sense in it when you can simply create a free Facebook page for a loved one’s memory (we have one for my grandmother).Â
Would you create a memorial to someone you’ve lost? If not, why?
Like I said, I would not pay to create a memorial. I have a memorial for my grandmother on Facebook and the whole family utilizes it. It was free, which is something I think a lot of people are looking for in this day and time. Not many people have extra money to start up a memorial site when they can do it for free elsewhere.
If you created a memorial, please let us know the following:
What did you think of the memorial creation process, the invite process and the checkout process?
I did not create a memorial because I just didn’t have the time to do it, and I know I wouldn’t use it after the trial was up.
How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like Legacy.com and Tributes.com?
The theme of this site is the same as Legacy and Tributes.com. All of them basically offer the opportunity to pay to create memorial pages for loved ones. However, I felt that Remembered.com loads a lot quicker than Legacy.com.
Are there any features/functions that you think the site is missing?
I really don’t see anything missing from what the site is trying to accomplish. Everything that needs to be on the homepage is on the homepage and the sign-up process is pretty simple (if you Facebook connect). The site also loads quickly, which is very nice!
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
I think this site can be beneficial to people who have the extra cash to spend on something like this. Otherwise, I don’t see this concept being highly profitable, with sites like Facebook offering the creation of free pages.
