  1. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?

First, let me tell you that I am a career coach, who had a résumé service for many years. So, I am coming to this somewhat skeptical.

The home page is well organized. The cool blue and greens are relaxing.

The graphic, the font, and general feel are more likely to attract a blue or pink collar worker. Not because of the coloring, but the feel of the site. The clothes in the graphic are much too casual for most job interviews.

Looking at the promises on here, “build a résumé in a few minutes” and customize from thousands of professional keywords and phrases. It feels as though your clients are going to prepare a somewhat generic résumé that will be submitted to all prospective employers. Many job seekers will find this easy and will continue on.

    2) Think of something you want to find on this website. Now try to find it. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing?

► I clicked on “Build a Resume,” and was taken to a sign up page. I clicked on continue, then couldn’t go back to check out the items on the right sidebar. Rather, a pop-up video showing me how to build a résumé played.

► Every field was required, which is not helpful. For instance, most people do not include the country where they live on a résumé. They also do not include the full address of their employers. I was finding filling out the fields quite frustrating. The entire section moved when I attempted to move my cursor.

► I also noticed that the selected words and phrases provided responsibilities. Today’s résumés are about accomplishments and how a job seeker is uniquely qualified to assist the prospective employer. These words and phrases do not do that. They are too general in nature. And keywords come from the targeted employer for whom the résumé is being customize. They come from the job description, the website, marketing materials developed by the employer, conversations/interviews with current and former employees.

► However, for me, the most important feature was “About Us.” I wanted to see what your credentials are. What your success rate is. Who is behind this website. It says the company is registered in Spain, but the site is written in American English. There were no answers. Is this site for someone applying for a job in Spain or in the United States? Résumé protocols (what is expected to appear on a résumé) are different in each country.

    3) Are you encouraged to (create a new account, subscribe, sign up for a free trial, etc.)? Can you tell us why (or why not)?

No. As much as I appreciate your effort to make building a résumé simple, your approach is not likely to help someone get an interview or a job. These days, in the United States, in order for someone’s résumé to be seriously considered, it has to speak directly to the targeted prospective employer. It has to show what UNIQUE and EXEMPLARY service the job seeker/candidate can provide.

    4) Go to search engine of your choice and find one other company that offers a similar service. Compare the two companies. Which on do you prefer? Why?

I went to gotresumebuilder.com. The home page is simple and mostly blue ,as is yours. It shows aspects of building a résumé by showing an illustration.

The site provides considerably more information. It explains what I mentioned above about résumés requiring customization. It has a great many samples for visitors to view. Additionally, it has a job search feature and offers extremely inexpensive résumé writing services.

Therefore gotresumebuilder.com is far more comprehensive than what you provide.

    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

I am sorry to be so negative on here and . . . If you truly want to help people find work, I suggest you learn more about of developing a résumé that will assist your clients. You might want to work with a résumé professional who can guide you through this process.
