1) My initial response to the web page is that it is very clean and has a slight trendy vibe that would appeal to the typical young professional urban dweller. It looks a little similar to Googles front page for their search engine, but different enough to be unique. I find myself to be very drawn to the search feature on the page. Not so much towards the buttons on the page. I think this is due to the dark coloring that makes the search fields stand out. The buttons below it have a very light shading that blends more into the white background. I do feel inclined to perform a search on this page.
2) I did a search for Dave Matthews, but did not find any results. I expected this could be just because of the fact that he may not have any concerts coming up in the Seattle area. To investigate further, I clicked the concerts button to list all Seattle concerts. Surprisingly this gave me almost anything but concerts in Seattle. Instead there were baseball games, half marathons, musicals, etc. upon further exploration I clicked on the various genre links to the right to narrow down the search and see if I could find any concerts. This did lead to finding some concerts, but there were only 1 or 2 listed in any of the genres, and in the Rock genre imparticular there were listings like the rock and roll marathon listed. Overall I’d say it was easy to find events, but not really easy to find concerts imparticular. Seemed incomplete for the Seattle area at least.
3) Due to the previously mentioned issues and my lack of desire to be inundated with updates on coming events to the area, I would probably not be interested in linking to Facebook unless I found myself using the site a lot. I would prefer to just go to the site as needed when I was looking for something specific.
4) I like the cleaner and more straight to the point visual of scourevents.com better than the overly busy webpages for eventful.com and zvents.com. These two competitor sites are currently superior in there content, as I was able to navigate the sites straight to what I was looking for with ease. I searched again on Dave Matthews at each site and was directed straight to content about Dave Matthews without any excess results that weren’t what I was looking for.
5) Overall I think there is potential. The search algorithms need some work and the content needs to be more complete, but the layout and overall idea are on track.

I actually really like the simple “search engine” look of the homepage before anything is clicked or menus opened. Â The black/blue color scheme is elegant and visually pleasing. Â I wasn’t necessarily drawn to any buttons unless you count immediately wanting to add my location in the search bar. Â The bottom row of buttons to search for hotels etc. actually threw me off at first because that’s not what I initially thought of as being part of an events searcher. Â After browsing around though I realized it would be convenient to have those tools for concerts/events in other towns far away.
2) Search for a concert or an artist product / music. Did you find what you were looking for?Was the process straightforward?
I did not find any information when I typed slightly less well-known bands such as Manchester Orchestra or Frightened Rabbit. Â When I looked for the Rolling Stones, however, I did get some hits. Â The double search bars are a little confusing as when I searched for the stones in the left hand side and it had my location in the right I found nothing and I had to eventually place Rolling Stones in the right side “Location” bar to find anything. Â It might be a coding issue or I might be using it wrong, but either way it seemed a little strange.
3) Are you encouraged to sign with Facebook? If not, why?
Facebook integration is not something I’m generally interested in so it did not appeal to me directly, but I do like to have the “Like, +1” etc buttons available to see what others have done.
4) How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like eventful.com and zvents.com?
Scour is simpler and has a more polished look than the other websites. Â The others, however, offer more media and news about the bands we’re searching for. Â They are both appealing in different ways depending on what you are looking for at the time. Â If you are the type of person prone to browsing through information you might be more drawn to a more news/media focused site.

I played around with the search bars again and there doesn’t seem to be any way to clear the location bar without adding something else in it. Â This is fine for when you just want info on one artist anywhere (add the artist to both bars), but it’s annoying to not be able to clear it.

1)Â Â Â Â Â Visit https://www.scourevents.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to click any of the buttons? Why or why not?
At first I was not sure exactly what the site offered. It did not take long to figure it out, but I would suggest
2) Search for a concert or an artist product / music. Did you find what you were looking for? Â Was the process straightforward?
There are two search boxes, but they are not labeled, so I was not sure what each one was for. I would suggest that you label the boxes. After I played with it a little, I clicked on Sports, then entered Tennis and Memphis, TN and found the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships I was looking for.
I clicked on Concerts and it still had Memphis, TN in the second search box. I expected it to find concerts in Memphis, but instead it showed listing for the musical play named “Memphis†currently playing in other cities like St. Louis.

3) Are you encouraged to sign with Facebook? If not, why?
When I came to the website, I was asked if I wanted to sign in with Facebook. I am not a big Facebook user, so I declined. The Facebook option is at the top of the page so it is easy to find if someone wants to use it. Also, I thought the Friends on Facebook option was handy!
4) How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like eventful.com and zvents.com?
Eventful.com had an option to quickly see events in my area. I found that to be useful.
Zvents.com seemed to have too many options on one page. I like the simplicity of your site better.
5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
The site is simple to use, so that is great, but you may want to add some items to the Home Page to really grab a visitor’s attention. Also, I thought the items at the bottom were something that I was supposed to click, so you may want to make the purpose of that section of the home page more clear. I would also suggest that you add a link to allow folks to easily bookmark your site, so they can always find it easily.
I hope my feedback was helpful. Good luck and best wishes for much success in the future!!

Verysimple and easy to use. I was drawn to use the search for the nearest city.
2) Search for a concert or an artist product / music. Did you find what you were looking for?Was the process straightforward?
At firstI searched for Zac Brown Band and got several results. Then I went to the Events button and was amazed at all the results I found. it is very easy to use and straight forward. Has many different aspects to search.
3) Are you encouraged to sign with Facebook? If not, why?
I’m not a big user of Facebook but I think it is neat the way it uses Facebook to RSVP to your friends as to where you are going.
4) How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like eventful.com and zvents.com?
I like this one better. It is not as cluttered. The others have to much stuff floating around. Scourevent is less cluttered and easier to use.
5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
I’m going to bookmark this site and use it often. I like this one.
1) Visit https://www.scourevents.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to click any of the buttons? Why or why not?
The impression that I see when I first see the page is that it looks boring and so I want to leave. Since I am purposely looking for something here, I look around for a few seconds and see what it is about and then I see that I am supposed to enter something into the search. I am not immediately drawn to click any button because there is not a call to action button or a primary focal point.
2) Search for a concert or an artist product / music. Did you find what you were looking for?Was the process straightforward?
No I did not find what I was looking for because she is a known artist but not a major one yet. The process was kinda straightforward but it could have been clearer by letting me know if I HAD to enter in a city of state? I did not want to so I just cleared what was already there. At first a glitch happened and it did a search when I tried to clear it.Â
3) Are you encouraged to sign with Facebook? If not, why?
Unfortunately, no I am not encouraged to sign in with Facebook because I did not even see it was there until the question just asked me and then I went a looked for it. Also, I would login with Facebook because there doesn’t seem a reason to because it seems to work without me signing in. If there is a reason, it needs to be stated. 🙁
4) How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like eventful.com and zvents.com?
I give the site eventful a B+, zvents a C-, and I give ScourEvents a D+. Eventful seems the best because the site has pictures which makes me definitely want to see what is going on on the site. Zvents is way to cluttered but the information seems relevant to my area so I will stay for a little but the it becomes information overload. ScourEvents just does not have a personality and does not make me even want to search for an event. If I could see some cool pictures to make me want to go to an event, then maybe I would be enticed to use the site.
5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
Please remember that your site is selling people to use your site. Show us why we want to stay for of all. Make it clear what this is about from the get go. Create an “Orange” call the action button. Orange is considered and has been tested and proven to work best for this. Please, please, please provide some cool pics of fun looking events and for sure have relevant local events that make me see that this can help me and pertain to me without me clicking anything 🙂 I would also like to receive special promotions, discounts, and site specific “hookups” that make me say, “man, I can only get this on this site.” Be original and standout from the rest, please don’t try and be just like your competitor that has already established itself clearly in the market 🙂

My first impression of the website is that it is crisp and clean and very easy to use and navigate through the site. I automatically searched for my favorite baseball team, but since baseball is not in season they had no events coming up.
2) Search for a concert or an artist product / music. Did you find what you were looking for?Was the process straightforward?
I searched for my favorite baseball team and one of my favorite groups. The search results were very straightforward and I had no problem understanding it.
3) Are you encouraged to sign with Facebook? If not, why?
If i had Facebook I would be encouraged to be the sites friend but I don’t have Facebook so I can’t.
4) How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors like eventful.com and zvents.com?
I think this site is more easy to navigate through and it is so simple to understand the search results. I actually really like the site better then others.
