  1. 1. Initial impression: Sidepon looks nice. I wish you would have used a different color on the sky blue for the Beta words ( like a lime green and a lime green on the search button). The dark green clashes with the sky blue background. Also I would have recommended a font for the “Beta” word in a San Serif (without footers).

It feels like your homepage is missing the navigation buttons at the top. It feels empty & bare. What is your plan for what you want the visitor to see first?

I think you need a motto or tagline to define & brand yourself to the public.

    2. Well, is your site for any company or specific industries? This needs to be clearly spelled out. I typed in Panda Express. No results.

    3. I like the sidebar, but it seems like your coupon selection is obscure or limited. You need big deals or some way of convincing users that you provide what they are looking for.

    4. Not necessarily. I can’t find everything I am looking for. I get better results just using Google. Here is your problem: You are competing with not only coupon code sites, but also with the big search engines. You are going to have challenges to gain any market share, since you have no brand recognition.

    5. Your site looks clean, but that is also the problem. No information, no selling points, no contact information, no navigation links, lack of coupons.

I just don’t see a convincing argument to use your site over Google search, which would lead me to the codes I need. Probably on retailmenot.com or another discount site with more of a selection.

  2. 1. My initial impression: I think that the Sidepon website looks good.  I do think, however, that the color of the text should be bold so that it wouldn’t clash with the sky blue background.  Also, I think just a comment or note starting the purpose of the site for anyone not familiar with it and may have run across it while surfing would be useful.

    2. I tried searching for several stores and most time found what I was looking for.  For the purpose of the site I think it is very simple and straight forward for the site visitors.
    3. I do like the sidebar and think it’s a very good idea.  At times it appears a bit difficult to navigate up and down the coupons.  Maybe a scroll bar just for that section of the site would help.
    4.  There are many other coupon websites available so your site will be competing against them but a few minor adjustments and you don’t have to compete against them but create your own unique look and approach.

  4. What is your initial impression of what you see? Do you think it is user friendly?
Unfortunately, my first impression is that I have absolutely no idea what this is for. I have to read the testimonials in order to figure out that this is a site for “finding and using discount codes.” And only the first testimonial makes that clear. The second one tells me nothing.

Can’t say it’s user-friendly at the moment because it doesn’t quickly and clearly communicate the site’s purpose.

I like the bright blue color choice, though. That’s pretty. More green touches would make me think of saving money.

Search for store that you would like to get coupon codes. Did you find what you were looking for? Was the process straightforward?
I assumed (correctly) that I was supposed to just punch a store name into the search box, so I entered “Walmart,” which returned a pop-up with a coupon count, a link to the store, and a “Launch Sidepon” link. Clicking on either of these links just redirected me to Walmart’s web site, and when I tried to backarrow to Sidepon, I had a hard time because I kept running into your automatic redirect page. Finally, I got back to your home page and decided to try another store. That one wasn’t listed, and neither was the next one I tried. On the third try, I chose Macy’s, which had literally hundreds of coupons available. I clicked “Launch Sidepon,” and again I was redirected to the store’s web site, but this time there was also a Sidepon sidebar with all the coupons.  Since this was the first time I’d noticed the sidebar, I returned to Sidepon and chose Walmart again to make sure I hadn’t overlooked the coupon sidebar. Nope. Bizarrely, the sidebar simply doesn’t load for Walmart.

So, did I find what I was looking for? Well, I found two out of four stores, which is a 50/50 success rate. But then one of the stores didn’t load the Sidepon sidebar even though a coupon was supposed to be available. However, when the sidebar works, as with the Macy’s site, then it really works! I liked that I could scroll through the coupons right there on the page instead of searching numerous other web sites in other windows. I also really liked that the coupons were arranged by success rate.

Was the process straightforward? I figured out how to do it without trouble, so I guess so. Still, if you hadn’t told me what to do, I’m not sure I would’ve known what your site is for.

Do you think the coupon code sidebar is intuitive to use? Do you like to use it?
Yes to both questions. My only suggestion would be that if you wanted to expand your service, you could include filter options so that people could choose to see only specific kinds of coupons like free shipping offers or discounts on specific kinds of products, etc.

Does the Sidepon provides a better experience than other coupon code websites that you have used before?
As I said, I like using the sidebar because I don’t have to flip back and forth between multiple web sites to see all the available coupons. It’s perhaps a little overwhelming with sites like Macy’s that have literally hundreds of coupons, which is why I’d like some kind of filtering option, but at least the coupons are organized intuitively by success rate.

You provide a very simple service, so you don’t need a complicated home page. But you should at least make it clear what service you provide in the first five seconds after a visitor lands on your site.

First, I suggest that you add a few more graphics to your dollar sign. How about a couple of coupons that say “50% Off” and “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” accompanied by a little shopping cart and shopping bag or something similar? That visual would immediately communicate what your site is about. More use of green with or instead of blue would also suggest cash.

Second, I’d like to see you add some text, such as a tagline at the top and maybe a few steps for the new user to follow. I’m thinking of something like this:

Get coupons as easy as 1-2-3!
    1. Search for a store.
    2. Click “Launch Sidepon.”
    3. See our coupon sidebar as you shop. All the coupons you need right away, in one place!

I like that you have the search bar right on the home page so users can jump right in, but I think you need the above graphics and text so that users aren’t confused about what your site is for and how to use it.

Now, I also noticed that you had a few glitches. I’m not sure why the sidebar didn’t load for Walmart, but that was a problem. If I wasn’t reviewing your site, I would’ve left when that happened. Also, I’m not sure how many stores you feature, but I tried A&P and Kohl’s, which have a lot of coupons floating around on the Web, and you had no listing for either of these stores. The more stores you list, the more visitors you’ll attract and keep.

Finally, as I said before, I’d like to see advanced search options that would allow users to search for specific kinds of coupons. That would be helpful since stores that return dozens or even hundreds of coupons present an awful lot to search through!

    Good idea and good luck!

  5. 1.  Initial impression: The website is soothing on the eyes but I think you need more of an attention grabber instead of just the $dollar sign. I actually found the search bar – not very user friendly. I tried to click into it and when I removed my cursor, it went back to the original state. I couldn’t just enter the website.com…. you actually have to keep the cursor IN the search bar or erase the print to perform a search.
    2. I happened to search for Walmart.com and it came up for a second and then disappeared. Didn’t know if that was because you haven’t finalized an agreement with them or what. But kmart worked fine.
    3. The only thing I didn’t particularly like was there was no scroll bar to be found. You want to make it easy for everyone that might not have a scroll on their mouse.
    4. I think it’s better idea than most other coupon websites, even though I don’t make it a habit to search for coupons or codes first when I’m interested in buying something online.
    5. I actually think this is a brilliant idea since everyone eventually wants to know they’re getting the best deal on whatever they’re purchasing.

  6. 1)     Visit https://www.sidepon.com. What is your initial impression of what you see? Do you think it is user friendly?
My first impression of what I saw was that it wasn’t visually appealing.  Headings and such did not line up well.  The site was pretty self explanatory and user friendly.
    2) Search for store that you would like to get coupon codes. Did you find what you were looking for? Was the process straightforward?
I searched for 3 sites. Walmart, Target and Old Navy.  When I launched the application it was straightforward and I was able to locate what I was looking for. I have to add that the application did not stand out as I’d like.  With Walmart and Old Navy using the same hues of blues that sidepon uses it just blended in with the site.  I feel like bolder colors that make the application pop out at you will enhance the experience.

    3) Do you think the coupon code sidebar is intuitive to use?
Yes, it is intuitive to use though as I states above it needs bolder colors to enhance the experience and pop out at the customer to be more incline to use it and not get distracted by the site you are searching for in that you loose site of what you where initially there for.

Do you like to use it?

I did like to use it.  Because it was right there and I did not have to open another tab that can be tedious going back and forth.

    4) Does the Sidepon provide a better experience than other coupon code websites that you have used before?
It definitely provides a better experience than other coupon sites.  Prior sites I’vs used seem to be more work than it is worth.  You click the link then get lost in the mess that opens.  Thus, losing focus on your initial goal.  Just to find out after several clicks away the code no longer is accessible.  Then having to back track where you originated from.  Like I said more work than it’s worth.

    4) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
I believe that this can be a successful site people can depend on.  I would definitely use http://www.sidepon.com. Just Please bump up it’s Visual Appeal it can be an AWESOME resource for customers looking to save money.

  7. 1)      Visit https://www.sidepon.com. What is your initial impression of what you see? Do you think it is user friendly?
My first thoughts were that the site was a great color but that I have no idea of what your site does. The big dollar sign make me think that I might save some money but other than that I found your site totally confusing and off putting. I like that you put some testimonials on the site but where is the rest of the content telling users what your site is about. Just from reading the next question that you have listed lets me know that is site will have something to do with coupons. I’m just a little taken aback that you didn’t find it necessary to tell users what your site is about. I’m not really a fan of the fact that the little info you have on your site seems to vanish as if move to tab to get ready to type something in.
    2)      Search for store that you would like to get coupon codes. Did you find what you were looking for? Was the process straightforward?
Visually it was off setting to see that the typed information doesn’t even sit in the middle of the box but at the top with the rest of the information. I typed in a store and I was confused as to whether to hit the search button or the launch button. I liked how the stored popped up that was a little “cute” part of what ever store is entered. I also like that you have the coupon count next to the store. The process was very straightforward and I could easily see the coupons on the side.
    3)      Do you think the coupon code sidebar is intuitive to use? Do you like to use it?
I like that I could easily scroll down the sidebar and minimize it to search the site. It was nice to be able to search coupons and  browse the site of my choice with out going from site to site. I was a little unsure what to do with a coupon that I wanted to keep. I see a button that says click to copy but I didn’t understand what that meant. I clicked on the button but nothing happened so I don’t understand what that means. With some sites having so many coupons it would be nice to figure out a way to bring the one you like to be highlighted or moved to the top of the coupon bar. I was a little let down by the coupon count listed because it was not the same number that was on the site. When I typed in a store it said 395 coupons but when I got to the site there were only 40 listed. I did another store search and it I was given the same 40 coupons but the coupon count was another high number. That needs to be clarified because I was really surprised and thought I was in for a great coupons hunt and I was not.
    4)      Does the Sidepon provides a better experience than other coupon code websites that you have used before?
As I stated before I like how I can easily see the coupons codes without switching to another site. I see this experience that much different from looking for coupons on any other site.
    5)      Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
I would like to see the homepage revamped to give the user a detailed description of what your site is about. I feel if the coupon count is not going to be the same then you should not put in on their at all. I think that there should be a way to click the button to make it not say copied. I would like to see a home button on the side bar so that I could easily shift to another store.

  8. 1. Initial impression– I like that the website is simple, but it is too simple.  It needs a more detailed description of what the website is for.  You don’t know just from the name.  I’m not sure what the name “Sidepon” means or is trying to convey.  I guess coupons on the side.  I would also put what types of coupons you can search for- dining, entertainment, hotels…  I’m not sure why the word Beta is on the webpage.
    2.  Search– I searched for bed, bath and beyond and the store did not come up.  Mostly bed stores came up.  Then I searched for bed bath and beyond without the comma after bed and it came up, but was the 5th choice.  I clicked on the link and it took me to the bed, bath and beyond website, but there were no coupons.  I tried Target and liked the simplicity of it-the website and the coupons.  I would like to see any expiration dates for the coupons or when it was posted.
3.Coupon toolbar– is very easy to use.  I noticed some coupons didn’t really explain what they were for.
Ex. unspecified discount – those should be removed.   Or a coupon for $5 off.  $5 off what?  Free Vitamins- What kind, how many…?
Would have like a side scroll bar, instead of the arrow and the top and bottom.
    4. A lot of other coupon websites are cluttered and confusing.  I like that you are keeping it simple.  I think it just needs a little bit more explanation.  And work on the search engine with finding stores.  So far, it is very intuitive.
    5.  It would also be nice to be able to do more specific searches within a certain store.  Ex.  Bed, Bath and Beyond -towels.  Or to search for a specific item and have it bring up any coupons for that Ex.  Oil of Olay moisturizer.

  9. 1) Visit https://www.sidepon.com. What is your initial impression of what you see? Do you think it is user friendly?

When I first went to the page I was a little confused about what I was seeing. I had to search the page a little to figure out what to do. For this reason it didn’t seem user friendly.
    2) Search for store that you would like to get coupon codes. Did you find what you were looking for? Was the process straightforward? I searched Walgreens. I wasn’t able to find a coupon product for the coupon I was looking for. I clicked on the coupon, but didn’t know what was suppose to be going on next.
    3) Do you think the coupon code sidebar is intuitive to use? Do you like to use it?
It seems like it would be a good thing to use, but seems to need to some find tuning.
    4) Does the Sidepon provides a better experience than other coupon code websites that you have used before?
I have used some other coupon code sites, and both seem pretty straight forward.

  10. What is your initial impression of what you see? Do you think it is user friendly?
My first impression is that had I not known in advance what type of site Sidepon was supposed to be, I wouldn’t known from the look of the site.  In comparison to other coupon toolbar websites that offer things such as detailed instruction on how to download, links to various coupon categories or even a current deal being offered, there wasn’t a “hook” to draw me in and get me curious enough to explore the site further just upon the initial impression.
Unfortunately, with the lack of overall purpose and eye catching deals to draw the user in, Sidepon doesn’t appear user friendly in that it doesn’t actually reassure the user that they are downloading a toolbar that is worth keeping.  Too many bells and whistles can put users off, but a real lack of showing the overall function and value of the toolbar can be just as off-putting.

    2) Search for store that you would like to get coupon codes. Did you find what you were looking for? Was the process straightforward?
Yes, I was able to find coupon codes, but I also searched with big name stores like Target and Old Navy.
    3) Do you think the coupon code sidebar is intuitive to use? Do you like to use it?
I liked the concept of the sidebar and enjoyed being able to minimize it while shopping, although it really doesn’t seem to interfere all that much with the shopping experience even when it is maximized.  What did put me off was that the “Do You Think Coupon Sidebar Is Useful” kept popping up even after I answered the question.  I had  only clicked on one coupon code for the duration of the shopping experience, so popping up more than twice was a little annoying.

    4) Does the Sidepon provides a better experience than other coupon code websites that you have used before?
With regret, no, Sidepone really doesn’t offer a better experience other than the sidebar concept other than the more traditional horizontal toolbar that is usually a download requirement.  Unfortunately, however, the freedom from downloading is somewhat overshadowed by the somewhat annoying “Do You Think Coupon Sidebar Is Useful” popup that comes up way to often for most casual users.

    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
Sidepon has a good concept, but not a unique concept.  Without more presentation on why a user would want to keep Sidepon as a “go to” website for coupons, it’s really hard to find a reason to keep it in my favorites.  I do enjoy the fact of not having to download a piece of software just to get a deal, but on the other hand, I need to be more engaged and persuaded to revisit the site given the other well known websites and search engines.

  11. To the first question, the general theme and layout of the site was very minimal and “Googlesque”, which I appreciated.  However, having tested the site in 3 browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome) there were some issues.

First, in Explorer, the search works fine but the search text hovers slightly above the search area for some reason.  In both Firefox and Chrome the search text was in its proper place (where the search box was located) but the search function would not work in either browser.

To the second question, after beginning my search (in Explorer) the process was straight forward.  I searched for Futureshop related coupons but found no results.  Apart from the browser issues mentioned above I thought it was an enjoyable tool to use.

To the third question, the design of the toolbar leaves little room for confusion.  As I said it is very minimalist, like Google, and this makes it very simple and straight forward to use.

To the fourth question, there are a few issues here.  Apart from the browser issues another is lack of selection.  Or at least relevant selection for my taste.  I searched for “Futureshop” and never came up with any relevant results.  The results that I did get were from unknown companies and, to the best of my knowledge, weren’t even tech related.  I also searched Target (which was the example given in the search field) and had one relevant result.

The other issue is that, in the results that were gathered, several of the thumbnails for some of the businesses seemed to be missing.  This created an unprofessional appearance which has the potential to mar an otherwise good search.

To the fifth question, my suggestions to improve this tool are to simply fix the browser issues, add more selection and make sure that every business featured has its own thumbnail properly uploaded.  If you can do this I think you will have a simple, well thought out and easy to use tool on your hands.

    Thanks.

  12. 1) Visit https://www.sidepon.com. What is your initial impression of what you see? Do you think it is user friendly?
The sky blue is bright! But it’s simple.. I don’t think that the layout and graphics have to go all out. Simplicity is a good thing. I do think that it is lacking some text. Sure it has the Sidepon logo smacked onto the homepage, but I think there should at least have the name ‘Sidepon’ on the site too. I get it though, because it’s formed like how a search engine would look, like Google. In where the google sign is on the homepage and the search bar is underneath it. I just think there should have more text but not too much of it. Maybe a little description or intro to what the site is about. Doesn’t necessarily have to be so long, like a paragraph. Just a few catchy sentences that directly gives the user an idea of what Sidepon is about. I do think the little step by step thing helps, but once I stumbled upon the site I was wondering, what is Sidepon all about? I read the 1,2,3 step by step box, and got an idea of what Sidepon.com is about but I was still looking for something that indicated what Sidepon really is, how to use, how it’s going to be used and how the sidebar works. It would help if something like this was indicated on the site, so that when first time users stumble upon the site, they’ll know what to do exactly. There are those people who don’t shop as much, so when they discover this site, it’ll be like a whole other world to them. A little can go a long way. And it would be a lot more user friendly.

    2) Search for store that you would like to get coupon codes. Did you find what you were looking for? Was the process straightforward?
Yes, the process was pretty straight forward. Nothing complicated. I did search for a few stores though and I did find the stores I was looking for. But I didn’t see the coupons that I was looking for (which I understand, because it depends on the availablity and such.)

    3) Do you think the coupon code sidebar is intuitive to use? Do you like to use it?
Yes I do think that the coupon sidebar is intuitive to use. It would make our lives easier when finding coupons for different sites. Having a coupon side bar is a good idea, especially if you’re really into saving and find good deals. I do like to use it, I just wish that there were more coupons available.

    4) Does the Sidepon provides a better experience than other coupon code websites that you have used before?
I think it does. But I still have that urge to keep looking somewhere else like on google. I think it would provide a better experience if more coupons were available. I would like a lot more if the searchbar did more extensive searches because I know that the coupons that sidepon finds are not all that’s out there. I have found other coupons available simply by using a search engine such as google or yahoo. And better ones too. Some of the coupons found by Sidepon are old and expired.

    4) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
Like I said before, some more text on the front page giving the user the idea of what Sidepon is all about and how it works. A FAQs feature would be nice and really helpful. Maybe even a little how-to video would be a good idea too. I think the colors of the site should be different and should well together. The side bar’s layout looks great. It’d be nice if there are more options in where the sidebar can be instead of just one side of the page. We could choose to have it on the bottom or on the other side. Like I also said before, Sidepon would be better if it would do more extensive searches and look for more coupons that are valid and legit. The old and expired ones should be taken away already. It’s not fun to see more old unusable coupons than new available ones.
Sidepon’s intentions are good, and a side bar is a great idea, especially for shopaholics like me. I always want to look for the best deals, the best discounts, and the best savings when I buy something. So I do think Sidepon is an essential tool for shoppers out there and it’s a brilliant idea. I think the side bar itself needs a little more improvement. I’d definitely use it in the future for sure.

  13. 1) Visit https://www.sidepon.com. What is your initial impression of what you see? Do you think it is user friendly?
First I had to read carefully what the website is about. Could not figure it out through the name or the beta word or the dollar sign. If only came to me when I saw the word coupon. I am South African and we do not use this system a lot. Once I grasped the way to go about it and search for a store it was easy peacy lemon squeezy. I was truly impressed and wish I were in America. Well I use to work there so it all made sense. The color is nice but I can add it seems too bright for the wording. Some of the icons is hardly visible and I could not make out what the writing were at some places. I love the simplicity and clear user instructions. The loading time is quick and once you enter the store name it all is super simple. Was quite tempted to buy something.
What puzzles me a bit is that I do not see in any way how this website will generate cash for the developers. Either they are the coolest dudes who loves to help people save money or I am just nut that lacks understanding of todays affiliate programs. Either way I see a ton of value with this site and will definitely recommend it and add it to my favorite list
    2) Search for store that you would like to get coupon codes. Did you find what you were looking for? Was the process straightforward?
Yes must say once I saw all the discounts I wondered why some managers get so stuck up giving you a little discount. I mean with these coupons you just feel you are stealing. All the steps were simple easy and straight forward.
    3) Do you think the coupon code sidebar is intuitive to use? Do you like to use it?
Yes I definitely think it is easy and intuitive  to use and it kind of help you to find on the website where it applies. Some other websites is a maze just to get to the place where the goods are that has coupon codes. Yours is simple easy and to the point. I also encourage you the match the coupon offers to the website items. It is like a little matchmaking game. Some like child’s play but i guess that is good human marketing phycology. As long as my mind is stimulated I will go along the way. It kinda gives you a sense of achievement to get better prices for items you normally would have paid quite a bit more. It also put you ate easy to spend some hard earned cash and makes you feel good about the process. This way you easily spend more that initially decided. Clever little rascals you are:)
    4) Does the Sidepon provides a better experience than other coupon code websites that you have used before?
Must be honest I only used coupons a few times before but this is is sooo much better as I do nat have to write down the code and then carefully type it in again. With yours I can just copy and past exactly where it is needed. So for the few time I used coupon codes this one you created seems much better
    4) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
All in all I do find our website to offer the users a ton of value and will not hesitate once to use and recommend it to all my friends. For that reason I really miss the facebook share button and would encourage you to add it to your page. This can create a big buzz. There is a couple of other features that will also help like a little video to explain and a couple of testimonials. Also the Featured on icons does not have any links to click on. I did not quite get the message about why they are there or way I am supposed to recognize their importance to the website. The comment is self explanatory but not the icons.
I do miss the about button and the contact us as that should be standard to all websites. In a nutshell your website does what it says it will do and for that reason alone I think you are on the right track. Trust you will have great success with a little marketing to get the ball rolling. Hope this helped you a little:)

  14. 1) I really like the little dollar sign design in the box above the search bar. I found the color too bright though. The blue doesn’t seem inviting to me. For people who have sensitive eyes you may want to consider a different color that adds less strain.

I like that when you search the results show up with a picture of the website under the toolbar. For people who don’t like opening a bunch of pages, this is a nice feature.

    2) The process is very straightforward for searching. However I tried to search “Wal Mart” and nothing came up related to my search. So I can see that the results are very limited and some are for American Audiences. Will you be adding Canadian coupon codes to the search listings?

You should consider adding a FAQ if the coupons are going to be limited to only certain countries.

    3) The coupon sidebar is intuitive and seems friendly enough. I would use it but because nothing Canadian appeared in the listings of what I searched it makes me not interested. I obviously cannot get coupons for American stores because I live in Canada.

    4) No, because of the results appearing in the listings. If you have plans on providing a much wider range of coupons then great, if not then this is really going to limit your audience.

    5) The only feedback I have is to please provide listings for more countries especially Canada, people would love Wal Mart, Canadian Tire, Sobeys and Superstore coupons.

Another idea is to try and get fast food or restaurant coupons if possible. If your goal is just shopping only then I understand but adding food ones could offer more of an audience.
And to spread the word about the website you could offer some type of incentive, like a bonus coupon. However doing that would probably mean that it would have to be a signup website which would certainly change the look and easiness of the website.
