  1. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
My first impression is that there are 8 sentences at the top of your homepage. This is un-necessary and does not look like a professional site. I would recommend that you have a high quality picture here of someone sitting at a computer using your website (to show how easy and helpful it is.)
People are visual, and would rather see a high quality picture than read a lot of text. You have too much text on your homepage. The blue lines in a bigger font stands out. The red line stands out. The other lines will probably not be read by someone skimming your homepage to see if it is worth their time.
    2) What are the main features SpringTrax offers? Could you easily find information about the product features? Was anything confusing?
It appears that SpringTrax offers a service to identify broken links on your website. It sends an alert via email to the registered user.
    3) Are you encouraged to sign up for SpringTrax? Can you tell us why (or why not)?
No. I have a blogger blog, and Google tells me if I have broken links. Google has a scorecard that shares your Site Health, and tells me if I have broken links. I have access to webmaster tools.
    4) Go to search engine of your choice and search for another company that finds broken links. Compare the two companies. Which one do you prefer? Why?
The first one that comes up in a web search is brokenlinkcheck.com
This site has an edge over yours. They have a medal saying it is the recommended Web Tool in 2012. They share a summary of the features and express how easy it is to use. I also like how you can go ahead and enter the link in the upper right corner of their homepage.
I think you need to look at their site and improve yours.
    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have about the site, the content, or the service offered.
    1. I think your tag line “Spring your broken links back into action” should be on the left hand side of the page directly underneath your brand logo. This is the first place the eyes go on a homepage. It doesn’t feel natural to read your tagline on the upper right side.
    2. Eliminate the 5 sentences on your homepage that are in normal font. They will not be read anyways. Consider condensing your information here into an easy-to-read list of selling points.
    3. Insert either a high-quality picture that represents your service in some way, or put a search blank up at the top so someone can just go ahead and use your service right away.
    4. The pictures of the recap email should not be on your homepage. It is not attractive to look at. You need to have this on the How It Works Page (which you do) and take it off of your homepage.
    5. As I said in #3, people would rather go ahead and use your service rather than you explain how it works and “Discover how broken links really impact your business (take out the word really)” You really need to consider that time is valuable. People want to discover and learn on their own. Let them by giving them a search blank to insert their website.

  2. 1) The homepage explained to me what springtrax. However the layout wasn’t very appealing. The background color looked dull and boring and there was too much space between the lines and paragraphs. The font used wasn’t very pretty as well.
    2) The features offered are alert and notification, recap email, fixing of broken links and a data log. The product features were very easy to find. However when i clicked on “all the data you need” link, the title of the page it open “404 Page Not Found Detailed Analysis” gave me the impression that the page i clicked wasn’t found. It took me a while to realize that the page title had to do with the content of the page.
    3) No am not encouraged to sign up as the website looks very basic and unprofessional. It is static and thus I can’t really trust the website or the company that runs it as a highly rated company.
    4) I compared springtrax to https://www.brokenlinkcheck.com/find-broken-links.php and i prefer springtrax because they offer more features and explained clearly how they work.
    5) I think the website would benefit from some good graphics and pictures.

  3. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
My first impression is that, it is too wordy, i could not find any picture that can let me understand what the site is about, so i read the title which it give me some idea that your site is about helping client to discover broken links and you provide some sort of statistic. It is my first time hearing this kind of services which i think it is a very good idea and potential business. However, the way you present it is too simple, nowadays, people are lazy to read a wordy website, they tend to more likely to get to know a website by pictures or video or some animation. You can use some picture or a short video or some animation to present your services. Example: having a simple slideshows that show what your site offer. You can display an animation that showing a person open a link and its broken and they get frustrated, you can imagine that animation face expression and display it in your first slide. This is just some example or idea of my suggestion. which i think it may make your site looks more attractive and visitor are more easily know what your site is about.
    2) What are the main features SpringTrax offers? Could you easily find information about the product features? Was anything confusing?
You monitor and discover the broken links, record down how many visitor a website lost from the broken links and fixing the broken links. You also email the result to the client email. It is easy for me to find the product information which i click on how it works and there is lots of detailed information there. I hardly can notice the package you offer which is the pricing. there is basic, pro and advanced. I was looking for a free trial but I can’t find it which I think you do not provide a free trial.
    3) Are you encouraged to sign up for SpringTrax? Can you tell us why (or why not)?
I would like to try it, but i do not want to pay for it as i never try this kind of service and i do not know how reliable is it. If you offer a free trial for one week or one month i would try it. People don’t want to risk their money into something that they do not sure about. I guest a free trial would help you generate more people to sign up.
    4) Go to search engine of your choice and search for another company that finds broken links. Compare the two companies. Which one do you prefer? Why?
i found http://www.brokenlinkcheck.com. When i visit the site, i know what the site offer immediately mainly because of their website name. their website is also wordy but they provide the key technique to ask attract customer which is providing a free broken link check for customer. I tried it with the free broken link check, they did not provide the package price as they require us to contact them to ask for quotation. By this, i feel that i don’t like this page because they do not provide the most important thing i need to know which is the package pricing. I do not like to email and ask for pricing and then wait for their reply. I would like to know it by viewing through their site content. In this case i prefer your site because you have listed the package price. I suggest you can do something like them which is proving a free broken link check, maybe you can limit the pages and showing some simple result. It can attract customer to register your service when they get to interact with how your site works through the free broken link check.
    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have about the site, the content, or the service offered.
Overall, it is a very good service, the only thing you need to improve is the how you present your service in your homepage and also proving a free trail or free broken link check. You should present your package price in another link instead of combining it in the how it works page. you can create another page to allow people to only see the pricing. This would make it feel more professional. I notice you have a plan&pricing under the get started tab, but when i click on it, it links me to sign up form which it is not the page i wanted. You should display only the pricing not the sign up form. You can have a button for sign up in the pricing page.

  4. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
    — the purpose of the website is clearly communicated: “SpringTrax Helps You Understand Your Website’s Broken Links”
    — design can use much improvement
    2) What are the main features SpringTrax offers? Could you easily find information about the product features? Was anything confusing?
    — there is too much text.  visual presentation of the concept will be better: images, a process map or a video.
    — to find info about the service, have to read a lot.
    — information in java script element of nav bar (not links) is also helpful. menu cud be better designed.
    — there is confusion because the core work, benefits and how it will help should stand out in as simple a way as possible. rith now it is a “treasure hunt” experience.
    3) Are you encouraged to sign up for SpringTrax? Can you tell us why (or why not)?
As an early adopter will sign up. but will expect major changes and improvements fast.
    4) Go to search engine of your choice and search for another company that finds broken links. Compare the two companies. Which one do you prefer? Why?
Not much about there; just found some forums. search “find broken links” gave many websites.
liked this website though it is different: https://www.linktiger.com/
    others were not that interesting.
as an free addon, cud have a search function that will show websites their top 10 or so broken links
    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have about the site, the content, or the service offered.
This is a good concept, but making it user friendly and intuitive will be important. make it easier for the user to browse the website but using simple and clean design aspects giving a lean ux and offer some facts that give credibility.

  5. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?

My very first impression is: A lot of words! Where are the graphics (I can see part of a graphic at the bottom of the page). Where is the video?

My second impression is noticing your question: How many customers did you lose today because of broken links on your site? As a site manager, that would definitely catch my attention.

And I realize that this is for site managers, who might be busy and want to get right to the point. Even so, most of us relate to graphics and videos. This could be a short video (10 seconds) showing the problem and the solution.

    2) What are the main features SpringTrax offers? Could you easily find information about the product features? Was anything confusing?

The features are: Continual Monitoring of broken links, complete information about non-found pages, and help in fixing broken links. It monitors and sends emails when a problem is detected.

However, you are highlighting the benefits, which is more important and good. People buy benefits, not features. You are reaching site manager’s “pain points”, i.e., how many customers are you losing?

However, I don’t see it saying anything about SpringTrax saving prospective clients, keeping them on the website? Are you able to make any claims about the results your clients receive? Do you have any recommendations that might be able to do that for you?

    3) Are you encouraged to sign up for SpringTrax? Can you tell us why (or why not)?

I am in the process of developing the first iteration of my business’ website. It will be small and, as an internet user, I do understand the importance of links working and the frustration when they don’t. Having something like your services could be helpful. Of course, having as a baby business, cost also is a major consideration. And I would like to check out other companies to determine which provides the best services for my needs.

    4) Go to search engine of your choice and search for another company that finds broken links. Compare the two companies. Which one do you prefer? Why?

I went to https://www.brokenlinkcheck.com, which was the first site listed on Google. It’s free. It actually is wordier than your site. Two of the main colors are white (background) and blue like yours. Having two shades of blue does add dimension, though. And it’s other color is yellow which, for some reason, works better for me than the red.

The one thing that is extremely eye-catching are the logos of just three of their clients: Blue Shield (of Blue Cross Blue Shield, National Geographic, and Bigelow. Click on the link and I’m taken to have an entire page of logos of well-known companies.

Because of https://www.brokenlinkcheck.com is free, appear to do the exact same thing that you do, and have so many well-known clients, I am more likely to try it before trying your site. If it doesn’t work as well as I had hoped, then, I would come to you. Sorry.

    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have about the site, the content, or the service offered.

So many of your links are in the footer, which is where I found the pricing. I don’t see a free trial or a free account for one site. These are excellent ways of encouraging people to try your services before making a financial commitment. I know that you aren’t asking a great deal of money and you need to make a living. However, it is just how the internet works. People have come to expect something for free first.

  6. 1) The site seems like it needs more consumer appeal a little more flash, also you may want to shorten your mission statement slightly people are looking for something that is succinct.
    2) The main feature appears to be fixing broken links in others websites.  Information was fairly easy to find I’d say about a 7 out of 10. (with 10 being the easiest)  I found nothing confusing
    3) I’m encouraged to sign up because your website is very fast which tells me you can get mine working that fast(point for advertising).
    4) I compared your site to brokenlinkcheck.com and prefer yours it is more informative and better looking ascetically.
    5) I think your site is on the right track i don’t personally have a site but if i do develop one i will be using your site if anything goes wrong

  7.
    1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?  My first impression of this home page is that it’s very plain and too much white space.  You do cater to businesses, but the website needs to be laid out better.  I think that Plans/Pricing needs to be in its own tab…I had to hunt around for that information before finding it on the “Get Started” tab.  People are not going to have time to hunt for your pricing and plans.

    2) What are the main features SpringTrax offers? Could you easily find information about the product features? Was anything confusing?  I liked the screenshots of the reporting that you offer your customers.  While I liked the screenshot that showed the priority level of which broken links to fix, if I’m a web master, I would want to fix ALL links, not just the ones that just happens to rank high on your report.

    3) Are you encouraged to sign up for SpringTrax? Can you tell us why (or why not)?  The sign-up link is prominently displayed on each page of the website in the upper right hand corner, next to “Log In”.  I don’t like that I can’t test-drive the service before purchasing a plan.  I don’t see any information about a trial period.  Looking at the FAQ’s, I don’t like that I can’t obtain a refund if I cancel in the middle of a subscription.  I would be more comfortable signing up if there was a trial and there’s some type of guarantee for your service.

    4) Go to search engine of your choice and search for another company that finds broken links. Compare the two companies. Which one do you prefer? Why?  While I couldn’t find another company that offered the same services as you do, other than Google Webmaster Tools, I would be more inclined to use a free service as opposed to paying for a service such as yours.

    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have about the site, the content, or the service offered.

In my opinion, website managers should already be diligently checking all links of their website to ensure all links are working on a continual basis.  I would find it hard-pressed as a company to spend more money for this service when I have an employee that should be doing this job.
