What did you find bothersome? What did you like?
As a first time visitor, I was immediately unsure how to proceed. At first, I tried to move the ‘hide yourself’ button from no to yes. That would not work until after I clicked into my profile, then clicked back to the home page, the ‘hide’ slide button was then activated and worked fine. There was no indication that there was a easier way to do this. Maybe it was just me.

The site design overall was attractive. I have a HD laptop, and the photos used were sharp and zoomed out very nicely.

What would be a cool feature to add to make squeks more fun or easier to use?
Simple navigation tips would be very helpful. First time users get frustrated easily on a new site, and just give up.

I also think it would be fun to have little things you could add to the pic on my list of like/dislikes – things we could had like moustaches, funny hats, silly props, etc.
I would also like to add little smiley-type faces and other icons to my comments there, both good and bad. Fun things make the site more attractive.

Would you like to see a live feed added?
Sure thing – it would be interesting to see.

Have you ever used any other like, love, hate, or rate polling websites or applications? How would you compare Squeks to those?
I had used something like this a long time ago, but from what I remember, the Squeks site is more attractive, has better photos.

Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.

As I looked around more, it became easier to move from one point to another, but that came with experience. Don’t know if you advertise in Facebook, but it would sure add visitors to your site.

Ok. I see a lot of celebrities.
What did you find bothersome? What did you like?

The display pics on your homepage gets me interested – although I don’t see how you have cartoon/comic profiles up with real celebrities. It seems like they don’t mix and match well.

Bothersome – I tried logging in with facebook and error message came up – “We’re sorry, but something went wrong. We’ve been notified about the issue and we’ll take a look at it shortly.”
What would be a cool feature to add to make squeks more fun or easier to use?

I wish there was Twitter integration as an alternative to FAcebook login
Would you like to see a live feed added?

A live feed of Facebook posts? I would like to understand what this feed would be of? Twitter feed?
Have you ever used any other like, love, hate, or rate polling websites or applications? How would you compare Squeks to those?

I don’t see how you make yourself any better than “liking” something on Facebook? What value does your site add that we can’t get on Facebook?
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
    1) Rolling Stones is showing up as a generic blank. Why is there a profile if you don’t have a picture?
    2) It just seems like your site has been done before. How is this unique and something that hasn’t been done before?
    3) For the most part, I like your user interface, but I think you really need to brand your image as something you can’t get anywhere else – so we need to come to Squeks for something only you can do.
    4) In my case Facebook log in didn’t work, do you have an alternate login without FB for those who aren’t on FB?

  3. Visit website. Login to Facebook. Love or hate someone you see listed publicly and anonymously. Make a comment. Do a search.
What did you find bothersome? What did you like?
    I didn’t like:
    1. That there was no landing page, with an introduction as to what this site is all about.
    2. When I visit the site the first thing I am bombarded with are all these pictures and I’m not exactly sure what I’m supposed to do.
    3. I couldn’t find a help or FAQ section.
    3. I understood what “hide yourself” meant but some users might not. Why not have a small description pop up when you hover over it with your mouse.
    4. I went to “love” someone and I wasn’t able to slide or move the pink bar. Again you have no instructions so I didn’t know if I actually could move it or how to move it. This made the process a little frustrating.
    5. I added a person and picture that wasn’t listed and it was published straight away. This concerns me because adult content could easily be added and people could easily abuse this site because there seems to be no filtering process.

    I liked:
    1. The fact that I could hide my identity.
    2. The search box. If I was looking for someone in particular I would easily and quickly be able to find them.
    3. That you could go into your profile and unlove or unhate someone or something.

What would be a cool feature to add to make squeks more fun or easier to use?
    1. To have a category list, for example movie stars, sports stars, cartoon characters, singers and bands, TV shows, movies etc.
    * I think with a categories list people will spend much more time using this site because they are able to browse through categories.
    * I think you should still have the search box as well, as this is great if you are looking for someone in particular. But I also want to just browse the site without having to think of new names to enter into the search box each time.

    2. On the landing page/home page it would be cool to have a “Most Loved” and “Most Hated” list with the top loved things and top hated things shown. You could have “Most Loved” this week, this year, all time and “Most Hated” this week, this year and all time categories.
    * Something like this would make users come back on a regular basis to see the updates. As presently I probably wouldn’t come back and visit the site because it will basically be exactly the same. Maybe there will be a few new people added but I wouldn’t know this by looking at the home page and then I would have to search for them.

Would you like to see a live feed added?
Yes a live feed would be great.

Have you ever used any other like, love, hate, or rate polling websites or applications? How would you compare Squeks to those?
I haven’t used an application like this before which connects with Facebook. I have seen a website at some point where you rate people and things but I’m not sure if it still exists.

Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
A home page that explains what the site is about would be great. It can also have regular updates like most hated and most loved sections as mentioned above to make it exiting. A categories list would make this site a lot easier to use also. I think once this site gains popularity you will have people abuse the system and add inappropriate content and pictures because it’s simply way too easy to do with no filtering process.

  4. Visit website. Login to Facebook. Love or hate someone you see listed publicly and anonymously. Make a comment. Do a search.

    Done.

What did you find bothersome? What did you like?

    Main Page:

I wasn’t sure what “hide yourself?” means. The slide animation was pretty neat, but there should be a help bubble here to make it more understandable. Does this just make me visible to other users, or are they able to love/hate me along with all the celebrities?

In addition to there being no explanation on that, I wasn’t really sure what my incentive for using this site it.  The front page says “Please login in order to love or hate anyone & anything in Squeks,” but is that all?  There is a bunch of blank space to the right of the Facebook login button that could be used to better describe your service.

Actually, that whole space could be used to sell your brand.  The second, huge Facebook connect button is really unnecessary.

Now that I’m logged in, I see a bunch of celebrities that I can, apparently, love or hate. Shouldn’t there then be buttons right there so that I can easily like/hate them? I tried clicking on the little slider bar below each picture, but that doesn’t allow me to cast a vote. I won’t use this site much if I have to go to each individual person’s page to vote for them.

Also, I’d like to see a more clear display of a person’s love/hate status.  The pink bar just doesn’t explain a lot.  If it were bigger and, for example, in Brad Pitt’s case said “50% Love  … 50% Hate”, it would be much more clear what people thought of this famous actor.

Also, I can see that there’s a search box, but I’d like to see other starting points as well. How about, instead of having random actors/characters on the home screen, divide it into several sections.  You could have columns for “popular” “newly added” “liked the most” or “hated the most”.  I think that would be really fun and give people a starting point for using your site.  You should also have categories, on a separate page, or at least tags.  That way people can browse through only celebrities, or only cartoons, or only politicians. If they so desire. Tags are really great, and can be used almost like categories.

    Actor/Individual Page:

I see that, on the page for each actor, you do have a “most popular” section.  You also have a suggestions section and I do like it, though I’m not sure how these suggestions were calculated. Are they based on my past likes/dislikes?

I like that I can love/hate someone from this page, without having to go to their individual page. Why isn’t this a function on the main page?

Also, over the picture of the actor, I noticed two icons: a thumbs up/down and an up arrow.  Initially, I didn’t know what these meant. After clicking the thumbs up button, I figured out that that was how I liked the actor on Facebook. For the up arrow, after clicking on it I could see that it was a way to upload… something.  What should I be uploading? I’m not sure…  It would be nice if there were help bubbles here, or they were moved to the same section as the recommend link, so a text description could be added.

I do like the ability to comment on the actors pages. I don’t understand what clicking on “rating” does, however. Maybe more people need to comment for me to understand this.  One minor thing: “Got opinion about <actor name>” should be “Got an opinion about <actor name>?”  For native English speakers, this will make the site appear more professional.

I also like the previous/next buttons, though I wish I could see a small preview of what was coming.

    Search:

The search seemed to work well, and I like that I was able to add a person if they didn’t exist in the list. The add feature was very straightforward, quick and easy.

What would be a cool feature to add to make squeks more fun or easier to use?

Whoops! Already covered it. See above where I mention “popular” “newly added” etc. etc.

Also, what about the ability to see who your friends liked or hated? I see a “friends in app” on my profile page, but since none of my friends are using the app, perhaps this feature just isn’t enabled for me yet.

Also, the tags/categories/home page features – as mentioned above.

Would you like to see a live feed added?

I don’t think you really need a live feed if your front page showcases the most popular loves/hates. I imagine a continuous stream of “amber hates this” “mike likes that” – I don’t think it would be very interesting.

Another suggestion: How about a column featuring topics in the news?  I noticed a page for the tsunami. This could be a good place for people to vent their rage about anything from natural disasters to political fiascos.  I imagine they might end up in the “most hated” column though.

Have you ever used any other like, love, hate, or rate polling websites or applications? How would you compare Squeks to those?

A long time ago, but not recently.  From my memory, I did think these sites had a few more features, though.

Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.

Overall I like the site. The logo is good, the design is pretty good.  It’s probably the easiest site to look at that I’ve used for this type of thing.  With a few more features, it could be the best in overall fun as well!

    LIKE

+ It was really easy to find the “Connect to facebook” button. And because it was so big, it was obvious that I had to log in in order for me to post comments or/and vote.

+ The option to “Hide” myself. Sometimes I want to vote but want it to be anonymous and this option is simply perfect. Well played!

+ The overall user interface, colours and layout. It simply just looks so neat and clean. The baby colours blue and pink give a sensation of purity and that
The option to be able to “Unlove”

+ Posting comments and be labelled as “hidden”
The sorting functions. Here I must say that you thought it out very well. Sorting by “most recent” and “Rating” is common but you included another one which is “Only friends & I”, I wish this one would be incorporated in most sorting functions. It is simply not used enough! But you did it and I really like it.

+ Simply awesome. I need to do a search before being able to post a picture and request voting. That is very smart. It makes sure that there are no duplicates and that people can’t really spam. I really like it. But you should probably make it more obvious how to post new pictures. For example, maybe include a button saying “Post a new…” and then you do to the next step that says “Search your title first”, if it is found in search you can’t post, else you can. Easy and simple and it is more obvious that you can actually post. If you had not told me to use the search, I wouldn’t be able to know how to post.

    DISLIKE

    – You NEED a facebook account for it to work. I understand that it is an app designed for facebook specially but maybe you could let “guests” vote as well? Just vote, they can’t post comment and do not have the various functions that facebook-ers should have. It would make the votes much less biased as well, and give a better overall statistics.

    – The “Using search and post” feature can be abused. For example, I search for “Celebrity X” and when it says there are to relevant posts, and allow me to post a picture, I change the title from “Celebrity X” to “Megan Fox” and post another pic of her. There you go, a duplicate. Although not really explicit, this can be done and people WILL do it. Maybe not allowing people to change the title after the search?

What would be a cool feature to add to make squeks more fun or easier to use?

    1. Adding polls to compare between celebrities. If you have  a thousand celebrities, it’s a bit hard to compare. As such, include polls like “Who do you like most? Celebrity X or Celebrity Y”. Not everyday of course, maybe weekly?

    2. Can my votes be posted on my wall on facebook? If not, then this features would be really awesome. I want my friends to know who I voted for, I just need to post it to my wall.

    3. Letting user to log in using twitter. Twitter is the next big social website after facebook, it would be only just to let them access it. Somehow…

    4. As I said before, a “guest” feature would be cool. Enabling random people to vote only, not post comments or anything. It would make the votes less biased.

    5. On the home page, include the actual numbers under the photos, not just the love/hate bar, but “X people loves this”.

Would you like to see a live feed added?

Oh yes, that would be marvellous! But I am a bit worried about the amount of votes that go in. Are you planning on giving me live feed for EVERY SINGLE votes? Then no.

On potetial solution would be to allow me to choose which celebrities I want to track, then yes, this feature would be much welcome.

Have you ever used any other like, love, hate, or rate polling websites or applications? How would you compare Squeks to those?

No, I never used any of them. Just simple polls. And I don’t think that those small polls can compare to a whole website. As such, my opinion will not be valid or worth it.

Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have

The “Please login in order to love or hate anyone & anything in Squeks” on the home page is not noticeable enough. The colour is too pale and font size too small. Increase the font size and it would be fine though.

I can’t see why I need a facebook account… Because your app does not update anything on my profile, and thus, wouldn’t it be better to let anyone sign up for your website? Unless you are planning on including wall updates to facebook, allowing only facebook-ers to join in is not a very good move. Not everyone has facebook. Again, please consider the “guest” option.

Those were my feedbacks, I hope they will be useful to you =)

I logged on to facebook and I see a page full of celebrities.
What did you find bothersome? What did you like?
The hide yourself button was a little confusing but after a minute I understood how it worked. I have to say that I really like the pictures that you have. There crisp, clear and really show off each person. However, I rather not see the cartoon characters featured on the page it really donesn’t match well. I don’t understand how why the beatles picture is just of a blue face but when you click on it, it shows a really nice picture of the band. I looked up Halle Berry and I don’t understand how to add someone to the list or what that means. What list are you referring to? Does that mean the list that celebs featured on the homepage?

What would be a cool feature to add to make squeks more fun or easier to use?
A simple how to section would be nice. I must say that when I first got on the site I wanted to leave in a matter of minutes. I don’t like going to sites where I have know I idea of what I am doing. Is there anyway to share and see how your friends voted. I would to be enable or disable a text box showing who I voted on my facebook wall paper. It would be nice if I could just vote without logging in. I would like to see a what long challenge of certain people, like Victoria Secret models, top rated artist in country music and things of the like. Is it possible to have alternating pictures of the celebs meaning not to see the same picture whenever you look up a person. Or maybe a little profile and/ or a link to the most recent work they have done. Run a celeb look a like contest and let people vote on that for a week.

Would you like to see a live feed added?
Yes it would be nice to have a live feed that would be a nice interactive feature to your site.
Have you ever used any other like, love, hate, or rate polling websites or applications? How would you compare Squeks to those?
I checked Polls Boutique and they have a great addition of quizzes and surveys. It would be nice to see how much info you really know about those people voted for.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
I would like to have an alternate way to login if I did not have a facebook account. I don’t understand the suggestions on the right side of the page. Are they just random people posted or are they supposed to be relative to the person you clicked on. There needs to be an edge to your site. Some that just make it fun and interactive.

  7. Visit website. Login to Facebook. Love or hate someone you see listed publicly and anonymously. Make a comment. Do a search.

What did you find bothersome? What did you like? I find it bothersome that it is possible to hate someone anonymously; even if I were a celebrity if someone were to “hate” me I’d like to know who that person is.

What would be a cool feature to add to make squeks more fun or easier to use? Some kind of virtual dating feature where you can mutually virtually date a celebrity.

Would you like to see a live feed added? Yes.

Have you ever used any other like, love, hate, or rate polling websites or applications? How would you compare Squeks to those? I’ve used the like feature on FaceBook.  Squeks’ application is more detail oriented to making emotions known.

Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have. Comment sections should be added.

  8. ï‚· What did you find bothersome? What did you like?

I have to admit that I wasn’t very impressed with this website.  It does seem like a great idea in theory but there were many things that made me feel like this isn’t a place I will want to come back to.  Here is why, first of all when you go to the main page, or what I believe to be the main page, there is no explanation as to what this website is all about, just a whole bunch of pictures.  No information one what a person is suppose to do, no information about what the reason behind the voting is.  I also didn’t like the fact that when I went to log in then tried to get back to the main page, it seem like I couldn’t do so and couldn’t figure out why this was happening.  Also the hide yourself button didn’t seem to work well, it just kept sliding over and not doing what I wanted it to.  The one thing I did like that I saw was the graphics, and the layout was very well done, just needed more clarity.

ï‚· What would be a cool feature to add to make squeks more fun or easier to use?

As I said above more explanation about the website is definitely needed, also this website needs to be more user friendly, I have been on other facebook pages that are more easy to navigate and understand.  Breaking the voting up in categories wouldn’t hurt either, maybe even an FAQ page for people to find out some answers to some questions they have about the voting process, and this page in general.

ï‚· Would you like to see a live feed added?

Well I guess it couldn’t hurt to have a live feed, maybe it     would be one way to address issues with the site.

 Have you ever used any other like, love, hate, or rate polling websites or applications? How would you compare Squeks to those?

I haven’t really uses such websites the reason why is because I find them to be flaming at times, with hateful stuff being sad, this is something that you will have to no doubt be careful of at Squeaks, maybe some terms and condition wouldn’t hurt.

ï‚· Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.

As I said above there are some bugs that need to be addressed with this website.  No offense but I found it to be irritating at times, not to be able to get back in after logging in, not knowing the purpose of the website just by looking at it, not getting the hide yourself button to do what you wanted.  These are all things that need to be addressed if you want this page to be popular on Facebook.  Also as stated above, its important to monitor this website, especially if you are allowing comments, people can get flaming and ugly out there, especially when it comes to hatred.  I have no doubt you want this to be a user friendly page that anyone can go to. So keep in mind that it will be important to make sure that the comments don’t get ugly, even Facebook has rules about this sort of thing, and its important that your users are made aware of this.

What did you find bothersome? What did you like?
I thought this was a complete runoff from the movie social network.  There was one part in the movie with their friends were reading the pictures and that is how they thought of the idea.  So for this website to happen that makes the same exact concept is a complete spinoff from a social network movie.
What would be a cool feature to add to make squeks more fun or easier to use?
I think that the pictures were two up close and said many facial features that you would not normally see on TV.  If you would have a full body shot or some papa Ratzi picture of these famous people of doing ordinary things, then it would be easier to critique these people and thus making it more fun.
Would you like to see a live feed added?
Yes, I think that seeing if I feed ad work these famous people doing ordinary things were body shot would make it more fun.
Have you ever used any other like, love, hate, or rate polling websites or applications? How would you compare Squeks to those?
It is very popular for college students.  Especially those teenagers wanna get back at their ex-boyfriend to start gossip.  Younger more immateur people can spend days gossiping about other people; especially getting back at their ex- boyfriend or ex-girlfriend.  Also the entertainment industry is one of the biggest industries to critique in the world is also the most popular.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you might have.
I thought this was a complete spinoff from a social network movie, but I think it is a great idea for those cause students.

  10. Many thanks for all the feedback! Your comments have all been very helpful and we really appreciate the time that you took in checking out Squeks. It seems that every time we begin a startup with Startuplift it gets harder to choose which person to make the award to. Your feedback was all very insightful.
