  1. 1. My initial impression is that this might be some kind of app for testing complicated stock purchase strategies, maybe related to options or futures or something like that. Honestly, there’s really not much information on the home page to go on.

    2. I’m not terribly savvy about trading stocks, so I found it confusing because I wasn’t really sure what an acceptable risk would be. I can’t see myself using it because I’m a long-term investor, not a trader looking to make a quick buck. But I can see how it might be useful to day traders and the like. If I had friends who were into day trading, I might recommend the Tradeplay app to them.

    3. No, not personally, for the reasons stated above.

    4. Since I’m not a trader, I don’t know that much about apps of this sort. I did a search on “trade risk calculator” and found several sites that offer more sophisticated calculators, some of them downloadable, with more detailed instructions. Yours was the most basic one I saw and also the only one I saw for mobile phone use. However, I can also tell you that many day traders use online brokerage sites like TradeKing, Ameritrade, OptionsXpress, and so on, and these sites have a lot of bells and whistles for risk calculation and all kinds of predictive algorithms. I’d think that anyone who’s serious about trading would already have access to a major site like this and might not need a more basic risk calculator. But I could be wrong.

    5. Right now, your site is very minimalistic, maybe even too much so. The home page, with its short and sweet tagline and image of a trading app, makes it clear that Tradeplay is a tool for stock traders. However, it doesn’t explain what kind of tool it is. I’d revise the tagline to emphasize your main selling point, that this is a very simple, easily accessible, one-stop risk calculator. You might try something like “Safely play the stock market game. Calculate your trade risk in under a minute with this one-step mobile app.”

As for the rest of your site and the tool itself, if you look at other sites with risk calculators, you’ll see that they mostly include basic information about risk calculation and strategies for beginners as well as simple instructions for using the tool. Your site has neither, and I think it would help if you changed that. I understand that you want your tool to be easily accessible, but you could do that and still have additional informational pages for new traders as well as drop-down menus to allow users to look up ticker symbols or pop-up bubbles to explain things like your Risk Tolerance slider. My thinking is that professional or semi-professional traders already have these kinds of tools at their fingertips, so your market may be amateur traders. If that’s the case, then they really need some help to use Tradeplay successfully.

Other than that, I really like that you’re offering this as a mobile phone app. As I said, I didn’t see any other sites doing the same. I also like that the calculator is very accessible. Other sites force users to sign up or input a lot more info and stats than they may really need to just get a basic risk calculation.

  2. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
My initial thought was where is the rest of the page. I really like your color choices but there is not much to look at on the homepage. The section at the top of the page which states what your site is about is very small and not even at eye level. There are no bullet points of information about your site just open space with no content. I like that you have the phone on the homepage because it adds a nice touch but again it seems like just filler because it is so large. I would much rather see a small compact homepage than to see a large one with barely there content. You say that you can play safely but I don’t see anything that would lead me to believe that this website is safe at all. Secuirty precaution should be seen rather than just simply saying play safely.

    2) When you try the “calculate” tool, did you understand what you were doing? How
can you see using this tool? How do you see sharing this information with your friends?
Since I’m not to familiar with the stock market using the tool was a bit confusing for me. I would have like to have seen and example next to it for someone who is a beginner at the stock market game. I feel as though if I knew what I was doing then the calculate tool would be of benefit. Again if I had friends who where into the stock market then a site such as yours might be helpful and would something a friends my enjoy.

    3) Are you encouraged to download the iPhone app?
No. At this time this service would not benefit myself.

    4) This tool is designed to be simple yet take people through the discipline a professional takes before putting money into the stock market game on a stock trade. What thoughts do you have on how this compares to other services and information providers in this space?
I did a quick search and found a website called wall street survivor. This website made learning the stock market fun and easy. It seemed to appeal to any person on any level trading stock. There was a nice engaging video that made me want to use their site and  seemed like it would be a benefit to me. I saw more information to read to get me ready and confident trading on the stock market. This site list reasons as to why you should use the site in a very professional manner. It drew me in to read more when I have no interest in the stock market at all. This site a library section and an investing ideas section to further help someone beef up on trading on the market.

    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
Your website seems to be more tailored to those who are already familar with trading stock. A begininer like myself would just serch another page because there is no assistance with your site. Your seems very impersonalable with no user to site draw in other than great colors and having an app to use. I feel your leaving out a whole host of users who have no clue as to how to trade. On the other hand if your not trying to appeal to be newbies you still have no content for users who are well versed with trading. Revamp with content and user appeal.

  3. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
My initial thought was there isn’t much on the page. There aren’t many choices at the top of the page. There should be more content. I liked how there was a phone on the homepage as well. The page is very simple and not hard to get around. There should be more features just to make it better.

    2) When you try the “calculate” tool, did you understand what you were doing? How
can you see using this tool? How do you see sharing this information with your friends?
I am a bit familiar with the stock market so the tools were easy to understand. This app should not just be limited to individuals who are familiar with the stock market. Beginners should be given and example of some sort or a test run.

    3) Are you encouraged to download the iPhone app?
Yes, i plan on investing soon and seeing where it takes me.

    4) This tool is designed to be simple yet take people through the discipline a professional takes before putting money into the stock market game on a stock trade. What thoughts do you have on how this compares to other services and information providers in this space?
My economics teacher introduced me to this site called market watch. It was not an app but it definitely had me wanting to trade. It was harder to get around but I figured it out. It showed stocks and gave advice on what the best companies to invest in were.

    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
Your website is too simple and lacking sophistication. You should try to add more options. Maybe add a section showing stocks that are rising and declining.

  4. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
My first initial impression was that this was some kind of scam. It reminds me of websites you see that claim individuals have won $100 and all they have to do is input their email address. Then at the bottom of the page you see a fine print. After looking at the page though, I found it a little boring, yet confusing. Colors are great they are very eye catching, but there was never any info that really let me know on the first page what I was really looking at besides the word Stocks.
    2) When you try the “calculate” tool, did you understand what you were doing? How can you see using this tool? How do you see sharing this information with your friends?

Since I am not in the stock markets, this would not be an app for me. There are individuals who are looking on a daily basis at the stock market and this may be a great tool for them to use. I would recommend this app to individuals I know but I would need a lot more information on this product.
    3) Are you encouraged to download the iPhone app?

No, this is not an app, that would benefit my needs.
    4) This tool is designed to be simple yet take people through the discipline a professional takes before putting money into the stock market game on a stock trade. What thoughts do you have on how this compares to other services and information providers in this space?

Searching the web, there are so many different websites that offer assistance with learning the stock market. Nasdaq.com is a great website and app that not only catches an individuals eye but is easy to navigate and understand. Going to the website it gave me helpful information on why I would want to get in the stock market along with helpful information on getting started. Even for individuals who are pros it still keeps them up to date, with the latest stock market information.
    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

Seems to need a lot more work, I would input instructions on the calculator. Also I noticed the privacy policy and terms and conditions leads to a blank page. Also is this app just for an iphone, can individuals with an android phone use it?  Having the subscribe to our mailbox on the front page really looks like a scam page, that is setting individuals up to receive a lot of spam emails. This is the type of website that any individual would look at and automatically leave without a second glance.

  5. 1) Look around the homepage-what is your initial impression of what you see?

I noticed the big iPod right away on the screen. Looking at the page I’m noticing the line graph in the big iPod and the graph next to your Tradeplay logo in the top left screen. I like how this page is simple and your use of blue and green is calming. After reading,”Safely play the stock market game. Calculate your Tradeplay before you trade.,” I thought it was cool that there is actually an app that can help you play the stock market. I am a little skeptical but also optimistic that there is at least some good insight towards bettering my stock market decisions using this tool. I do notice that I am clearly being invited to subscribe to the mailing list, download the app through the apple store, and to write a review on iTunes to receive a t-shirt. I like how you are promoting the app but you keep the page simple so I don’t feel bombarded.

    2) When you try the “calculate” tool, did you understand what you were doing? How can you see using this tool? How do you see sharing this information with your friends?

I am somebody that doesn’t know much about the stock market anyway, however using the calculate tool I can already understand what information needs to go where. You have made it simple for an average person like me to generally be able to understand how to use this, which is great. I would use this tool before deciding what companies to buy shares of stock with and before trading. I would share this information with my friends if they told me they were interested in the stock market (not many of them are however) but I will tell my Dad because I know he could definitely benefit from this app.

    3) Are you encouraged to download the iPhone app?

Not me personally, but I am encouraged to let others that are into the stock market know about this.

    4) This tool is designed to be simple yet take people through the discipline a professional takes before putting money into the stock market game on a stock trade. What thoughts do you have on how this compares to other services and information providers in this space?

My first thoughts are that this might not be a tool to completely rely on, however it does seem to be helpful in making decisions about your stocks. That being said I think that I would still consult a stock broker while using this app. Browsing through google I’m seeing that there are actually a lot more apps like yours than i thought there were. I think I would be more likely to trust other more popular apps that are coming up on my google search however yours does seem to be the simplest.

    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

Although i have mentioned I do like the simplicity of your website, I do however wish there was an “About” button or something like it next to the home page button that explained what your app does. I also don’t get why you left your privacy policy and terms and conditions blank. Makes it seem like somebody got lazy or you guys are being shady or something.

  6. Platform : Ubuntu 10.04
    Browser: Firefox 14.0.1

    1) Initial impression about home page :
Ideally Home page should fit into one page without need of scrolling down which is not the case for Tradeplay homepage. Tradeplay website home page also contains relatively large sized objects such as Mobile handset, slightly bigger fonts for Tag lines which makes homepage larger and uncomfortable to view in one go. I was also looking for basic features provided by this application but could not find anything related to features on the home page.

    2) “Calculate” tool:
This tool was relatively easy to use but again does not fit in one screen. Calculate tool should be at the centre of the screen because there is nothing else on the page. I was also expecting basic informative steps and How-tos about the tool as only tools was present on entire page.  However it would be always better to provide one line tool-tip or info about every field present in the tool, exactly like “Risk Tolerance” filed has shown little info as “The percentage of capital to risk on one trade.”
The tool provides the simulated information about the basic trade play nicely and easily. Calculate tool was portable utility and can quickly be used any time however there nowhere I could find Share button to either through any social networking media such as Facebook, Twitter or just simply Share-this-url kind of links.
There was one critical bug I could see – 1. Calculate tool accepts Negative values (with – symbol)
                                                               2. “Trading Capital” fields accepts value less than Buy Price. (Trading Capital< Buy Price)

    3) Encouraged to download the iPhone app:
Its always beneficial to keep all the download links at the Top of the Homepage. I had to scroll little down to check out the download link for the iPhone app. However different offers encouraging download the iPhone app should be noticeable on the screen with some attractive graphical effects and design. but finally yes I am checking out this iPhone app now.

    4) What thoughts do you have on how this compares to other services and information providers in this space?
I am not mucn in to stocks and trading so i am not aware about any other apps in the same space.

    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
Tradeplay website is very easy to use and lightweight. However, information and description about the product on most of the pages was in adequate. The design of web page is also simple but lack of attractive objects and catchy feature’s tag lines makes it little less attractive and user may go to other apps in the same space. Also every page should contain the information fitting into one screen only because it is the ideal attention span for regular users. Trading players could easily play around with this utility but would really expect few more solid  features such as  predictions, basic analysis, comparisons with previous trends etc.
Overall nice, but too simple application with lac of basic information about product and larger-than-screen design.

  7. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
A simple, clear homepage. I like the fact that it isn’t too busy however I was a little unsure of what the site is about, upon reading the tag line I’m assuming this is a game based on sharemarket trading but will investigate further to confirm my suspicions. The subscribe details are ‘above the fold’ which is good as I don’t need to scroll down the screen to see this. I would suggest that you move your ‘Limited Time Offer’ further up the screen so it is seen at first glance on entering the site.
    2) When you try the “calculate” tool, did you understand what you were doing? How can you see using this tool? How do you see sharing this information with your friends?
Having had no experience of the stockmarket I don’t understand jargon such as ‘Ticker symbol’ I didn’t really understand the intention of the calculate tool. I don’t see how I would use this tool but might do if there was a brief explanation of that the tool is intended for. I don’t see me sharing this information with friends unless I could see some benefit for them.

    3) Are you encouraged to download the iPhone app?
As I have an Android phone I’m not encouraged to download an iPhone app and even if I did have one I would want to know more about what the app will provide me with.

    4) This tool is designed to be simple yet take people through the discipline a professional takes before putting money into the stock market game on a stock trade. What thoughts do you have on how this compares to other services and information providers in this space?
This is an area that is well outside my realm of experience however I looked at https://www.howthemarketworks.com/ which explained on the homepage what the site is all about within a couple of sentences. The rest of their front page is very overwhelming and cluttered but that initial explanation tells me very quickly how relevant or not the site is to me. It would be worth you considering a bit more information on your homepage to explain your purpose and target audience.
    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

  8. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
I like the colors you have selected, but the large picture of the phone, leads me to believe that your goal here is to promote a specific type of cell phone, the site looks more like its goal is to collect emails for spam purposes. The website could use more content focusing on the reason for the website.
    2) When you try the “calculate” tool, did you understand what you were doing? How can you see using this tool? How do you see sharing this information with your friends? Yes, I understood, by entering the information it gives you specifics on what you should do to reach your goals. This tool will be very useful to visitors of the site, most of my friends have very limited information about stocks, for me to recommend it would have to be suitable for newbies to use, and have directions and information on what each tab does and how to correctly use it.
    3) Are you encouraged to download the iPhone app?
Yes, it appears to be more successful this would be the right thing to do, so you can keep track what is going out throughout the day, and what actions you need to stop, or take.
    4) This tool is designed to be simple yet take people through the discipline a professional takes before putting money into the stock market game on a stock trade. What thoughts do you have on how this compares to other services and information providers in this space? I think the site should be more user friendly and really focus on what is being offered here, maybe even offer a onscreen tutorial of someone using the application, and how to maneuver for a chance at success.
    5) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
I would definitely provide a on screen tutorial on how to effectively use the calculator features for the most accuracy, the site is a bit bare also,
