I think the homepage looks very clean and crisp, it’s very easy to navigate. It’s not overwhelming or busy which is great.  To add a little more excitement in the boxes right below the “create your trip now” section, the use of more exclamation marks (not too many, though) or heading in bold may draw a little more attention. Maybe using a darker or different colored font could draw attention. For some reason my eyes almost overlooked this section.  I went straight to the bold blue destination links.  I really like the layout!

This was very easy to do!  The map is great.

Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.

I did a search for dog parks in Paris but didn’t get a match.

What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?

I clicked on Paris to plan a trip and got a map of the area which is what I expected. However, when I typed in “dog park” in the search box, it showed dog parks on the left in the US and not for France which is what I was expecting.  When I typed in “Louvre”, it gave me a wide variety of items that matched my query even listing matches in other countries. I don’t know if it means that there simply are not dog parks in France or if I did something wrong.
I think it would be nice to have a link to the destination cities on the trip planning page so a user wouldn’t have to click “Back.” Also, if I’m planning a trip in France, it would be nice to have a link to other popular French cities on that same page. A user may be familiar with a particular city but may not know where it is in relation to where the are on the map but if they have a link, they could click on it & see the area right away and it may help with adding cities to their trip. Otherwise they would have to zoom in & out & pan the area.

What do you like about Tripomatic?

I like the info and photos in the pop up window when you click on an icon on the map. Very useful!  The site is great.  The my guide summaries are also very good.  I’ll definitely be coming back to this site!

This site is about trip planning for vacations.

Your goal is to plan a perfect trip. You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities). Choose what to do according to your real interests, make the trip as good as you can. You should spend most of the time on this task.

Done. Username: Zeke, trip planned to Paris, then London. When I added a city, it automatically moved me to day 4, I had to go back to day 3.

Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.

Stop at the Water works in London. I don’t see a feature to add something not listed on the map. Now I see this feature. It is under “Add Yours”. I think you should rename this button “Add custom activity”

What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?

I tried to log in once registering. It took me several attempts and seemed slow logging in..
I also wish U.S. destinations were available.

What do you like about Tripomatic?

User friendly, and I like the logo and blue used.

Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

I think you need extra content to keep users on your site when a trip isn’t being planned. Extra content such as videos of trips, and blog posts so people will see the value that your website can provide.

The site for planning and organizing trip schedules.

Your goal is to plan a perfect trip. You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities). Choose what to do according to your real interests, make the trip as good as you can. You should spend most of the time on this task.

Planned a 6 day trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg Russia (tracing a friend’s recent trip).

Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.

Walked across the bridges and visited a few parks. It was fairly easy to add them in.

What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?

There was a large delay between signing in and having the site ‘sign in’– in that for about 30 seconds (I did it three times, the shortest was 15 seconds). I thought that the Sign In button was a dead link before it actually signed me in. Facebook sign-in didn’t work–it did have me allow connecting to Facebook, but it didn’t create an account on the Tripomatic site.

The FeedBack tab on the right side of the page interferes with the map when planning the trip (either create a border around the map or move the tab to the other side.)

I am not fond of the ability of others to share a plan on Facebook that is not ‘theirs’ (ie: I created an account with an email address separate from my Facebook account. After logging out and visiting the link to the guide I just created, I was able to add it to my facebook account. I was also able to get a friend of mine to do the same thing and add the trip plan to their facebook site. This suggests that anyone who visits my trip guide can post that guide on their facebook page (or twitter). Of course, even if you fix that problem, one can always cut and paste the link.

In this regards, having a privacy option for one’s trip guide would be nice. Being able to select if the trip is public or private would be nice. I know that in the “My Trips” Page it states that the trip is ‘Public’ but I could not find any way to make it private.

What do you like about Tripomatic?

The map ‘journey’ line, showing the likely route that you would take to different places for each day mapped out.
The connection to the websites of hotels and tourist sites being available and that it now opens a new page instead of loading up on the current browser window.

I really enjoyed the outlay of the planned trip guide. The information provided for the locations selected to visit along with the map routes are very complete.

The network sharing connections for your trip information for Facebook, Twitter and website, as well as PDF (is it me, or is the PDF better then it was before?) and email options. The embedding link worked well for embedding my trip plan on my website.

The new layout feels a bit more user friendly then I remember the previous one being.

Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

In comparison to the previous version of the site, I like many of the changes.

There are some things that are a bit unpleasant: The opening page images are hard to look at. The blurry edges and central focus on the images reminds me of wearing someone else’s glasses. I liked the images from the previous site version better.

Accessing completed trip information was much easier (no more confusing ‘get guide’ title!) and the layout is nicer. The distance between tour site locations being included, and the approx. time it would take to walk by foot between those locations (and given that I am planning part of my trip in Moscow, it may be the same amount of time to drive!).

    Privacy issues, as noted above.

The ‘sign in’ button is too small. Make the sign in link larger and more central. You have on the main page a lot of free space to the right of the ‘Tripomatic’ header and below the small ‘sign in’ as a possible location to place, and maybe include ‘Sign In’ with ‘New? Create An Account for Free’ in that space.

What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?
    >I had some troubles in signing-in after my successful registration, the site sees to be not responding in minutes, and after reopenning the site in a new tab, i’ve noticed that I’m already in.
    >According to my analysis, site loads slower than what i’ve expecting since the elements and scripts are just too heavy.
    >Facebook Log-in didn’t work for me, after allowing the up, nothing happened.
What do you like about Tripomatic?
    >Convinience in planning the trip and activities for travelling.
    >The lists of hotels and tourists spots are already given.
    >Facebook Log-in

    >The report problem feature might cause spams, since no filtering procedures or minimum character content is present.
    >I’ve been logged-out but my Saved Trip is still accessible. WTH.
    >The Add Day Button as well as the function is buggy. The button display is loading and disabled but i was able to add days in accordance to my clicks (i spammed 3 times).

  5. Just a notation: I managed to log in on the account I had set up from the first time Tripomatic was posted here- it had taken me 30 seconds of waiting to log in after pressing the login button. This lag may be the reason I presumed my old account was no longer available. I decided to try again and wait, given that there was a lag with the new account i created. My trip plan from my previous account was still there, and seemed to have made the transition between the old and new site setup perfectly without loss of information.

  6. Please visit https://www.tripomatic.com/ Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the homepage. What do you think the site is about?
Judging by the content on the homepage, this website is about international vacations.
Your goal is to plan a perfect trip. You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities). Choose what to do according to your real interests, make the trip as good as you can. You should spend most of the time on this task.
Since I enjoy taking long walks and jogging in my local park, I would like to pay London’s largest royal park a visit. This location has several historical features I would like to observe. After spending a relaxing and satisfying day in London’s largest royal park, I would head east to observe the creative architectural buildings and take various pictures to be reminded of my glorious vacation while in London.
Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.

Since I wrote several articles on Fitness, electronics, and even traveling, I would like to talk to some locals and ask questions such as, “Have you been to America before?” “How was your experience between the two countries like?Based on the responses I get back, I would submit my experiences with the locals to my blog.
What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?
I tried searching for some spelling and grammar errors, but couldn’t find any. I don’t know, it’s difficult to say anything is wrong with this website, and I’m a web designer. The navigation is smooth and the the website does it’s purpose to perfection.
What do you like about Tripomatic?
The simplicity and ease of navigation. No clutter and everything on the website was self-explanatory. Click on the “Create your trip now” and I was well on my way to viewing many historical places to visit while on a vacation.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
If this website isn’t supported on portable devices, I highly recommend a portable version be created to work on Smartphones. Next time I go trying to another country, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to use this website.
NOTE: I read users experienced problems while viewing/logging into this website. However, I didn’t have any problems.
Specifications: Windows 7 (premium) using a Quad process with each core at 2.0GHz.

  7. Please visit https://www.tripomatic.com/ Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the homepage. What do you think the site is about?

In short: traveling/tourism and sight seeing, assisted traveling/tourism and sight seeing.

Your goal is to plan a perfect trip. You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities). Choose what to do according to your real interests, make the trip as good as you can. You should spend most of the time on this task.

I wanted to plan a trip to Gothenburg (Sweden) and Bergen (Norway), but i could only find 2 cities available for Sweden and Norway, the capitals. The number of places to go was pretty limited and very conventional for tourism services.
With the options i was presented i planned the trip , this way (it was pretty easy) :
Day one: Oslo , checked at a 2 star hotel, visited 3 places.
Day 2: didn’t visit anything, just browsed the local places : the pubs, the streets, the people.
Day 3: Stockholm , checked at a 2 star hotel, visited 3 places.
Day 4: the same as in Oslo

Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.

Ride the bus, visit local pubs, go to the church, activities that can really put you in tune with the local culture and the way of life of the people there.

What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?

The first thing that comes to mind is the description. It’s vague, when i first visited the site i thought you were a tourism agency. Put a clear and concise description on the front page, also the 100% free sign could get more exposure, it just sits there in a corner, hiding.
Another thing i find confusing is the fact that the site just submerges you into the essence of the service, no general description or idea, you start with the details first.
The options are pretty limited as far as cities go.

What do you like about Tripomatic?

It’s really easy and you can customize your experience.
The concept is great (it gives you a “taste” of the actual locations, a thing pen and paper can’t) but there are too few options as far as cities go (maybe you could add the option for users to add cities)

Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

It think i pretty much covered it.

  8. Please visit https://www.tripomatic.com/ Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the homepage. What do you think the site is about?

It’s a trip planning service that allow customers to pick their destination and your site will show them the map for choosing location of where they want to go first, step by step.

Your goal is to plan a perfect trip. You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities). Choose what to do according to your real interests, make the trip as good as you can. You should spend most of the time on this task.

    Done.

Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.

    Done.

What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?

What i find frustrating is the map shown, it is very hard to see. The map preview should be improved, i never been to the place and the map is like a satellite map which look confusing. It’s confusing for me to look for place and choose the place. What makes the map blur is the zoom in buttons, there is too much zoom in button, i dont think you need that button to let the user now it can be zoomed. I think you can improve the map by making it in a standard view, which is like a 2D that is more clearer to see.

Beside the map i dont feel any other that is bothersome. You also can let the user know if they go there by aircraft their airport destination will be at where, so that the user know they should start from where. If they go by train, you should let them know their train destination is at where. THis is be much more clearer and give a direction for the user to know where they will be and where to start.

What do you like about Tripomatic?

I like the concept of your service, it is a very good service for the traveller. I like that you stated the kilometer from a destination to a destination. and you provided hotels information even the rate and prices. This is a kind of service a traveller would like to use. At the end of the trip plan, you displayed everything selected from day 1 to day 4. Displaying the map and the information about the selected location. User can print it out for their reference. They don’t need to look for a map when they reach the destination. This is very convenience for the user. You also provide some suggestion place for the user. It is a very good service.

Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

I am impressed with your service and the website user friendlyness. It is very user friendly. Everything is clear and straight forward. I will definitely recommend this site to my friends and i will use this site when i wanted to go for a trip. Your site layout looks comfortable and is attractive. The slideshows in the homepage is not that relevant to your site.

I suggest you can add some screenshot of the process of how to plan a trip using your site. You have a step by step slide shows that include some description on it. Example: Step 1: pick a place, step2: select trip days , etc. This will much more interesting.

  9. Please visit https://www.tripomatic.com/ Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the homepage. What do you think the site is about?

I think this site is a trip planning service which allows you to search a destination, select attractions and print an itinerary. It is a sight and attraction finder and planner.

Your goal is to plan a perfect trip. You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities). Choose what to do according to your real interests, make the trip as good as you can. You should spend most of the time on this task.

I will take you through step by step what I done:
    1. To start with from the homepage I clicked “create your trip now”. This stood out on the homepage and this was easy to find.

    2. The first country I choose was Belgium which then took me to another page and I choose the city Antwerp.

    3. On the next page a tutorial popped up which I thought was great because I had no clue what I was doing.  It was nice and short and very easy to follow and understand. At the end of the tutorial I felt I knew enough to get started and wasn’t left with information overload.

    4. The first thing I done was add 3 more days to my trip. At this stage I still only have one European city I’m visiting. So I then click on destinations, select France and then Lyon. Two buttons then come up and I click add to current trip. Why couldn’t I add these days and another country right at the start? I feel like I had to go through the same process again. (I have explained my frustration regarding this below).

    5. After adding Lyon and being directed back to the map page I find it automatically added another day to my trip. I delete day 5 and that was easy enough to do.

    6. Now my map has changed to Lyon before I selected any attractions in Antwerp. I realize I probably have to do one city first before selecting the rest. So time to restart over. So I go back to destinations and re select Belgium – Antwerp and start new trip.

    7. I start looking at the attractions in Antwerp and the map is easy to navigate. I’m pleasantly surprised at the number of attractions.

    8. I add Antwerp City Hall to day one, and that was very easy to do. I then clicked on select a hotel. A little window popped up which took a while to load and at first it had me confused. I thought I had to book a hotel through book.com in order to use this service. But then I read the text again and realized this was just an add on so I just clicked Next Step.

    9. I choose the Four Seasons Antwerpen City Center. It then automatically showed me in red the route to the attraction which I thought was fantastic. I also like that it shows you the distance and time from the selected hotel to selected attraction.

    10. Seeing the attraction wasn’t far away I decided to choose another one for the first day. I also added the Fashion Museum.

    11. I then clicked on Trip Option just to see what that was about. I didn’t fill in any of the information, but being able to share it on Facebook with friends is a great feature.

    12. I then add another day. I select Butcher’s Hall and Museum by the River as the attractions I would like to see.

    13. I then add day 3 and this is when I want to head to a different country. So I click on destinations and add France and the city Lyon. It automatically adds another day to my trip. But day 3 and 4 are showing up with Antwerp’s map and attractions not Lyon.

    14. So I delete day 3 and 4 and I’m back at day 2. Instead of adding day 3 first I just click on destinations. I select France and Lyon and finally the map is showing Lyon and it has automatically added that as day 3.

    15. I go ahead and choose my attractions and hotel for Lyon. Two attractions on day 3. I then add day 4 and choose 3 more attractions. I used the “must see” button to look at what attractions where recommended.

    16. I then clicked “get trip plan”, this took a while to load. It then gave me the option of signing in so I could save my trip. I skipped this step.

    17. The itinerary was well displayed and easy to understand. All the information is there and all I would have to do is press print. The other options are also great like Facebook, Twitter, embedded on a webpage etc.

Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.

    1. I didn’t find a lot of food/dining/restaurant options. For example in Antwerp I only found 3 or 4. I know your not able to list every single restaurant but a little more variety would be nice.

    3. Local public parks and botanic gardens.

    4. Public transport around attraction and hotel.

What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?

    1. I found the countries you have listed are only in and around Europe. I’m heading to Thailand soon and have been looking for a site this this to plan and search attractions so I was disappointed that there were only a limited number of countries. I’m not sure if your planning to expand the list, but this is definitely something you should look into.

    2. The homepage was a little dull, boring and white. It was easy to navigate and you express well what the site is all about but I think it could do with an injection of color.  It is simple and non cluttered which is nice, but just not inviting and it doesn’t get you excited and enthusiastic about travel.

    3. I didn’t like the font used on the tutorial. It looked messy and handwritten which doesn’t make it easy to read.

    4. I think right at the start when you are choosing your country and city there should also be the choice of how many days you want to tour and the choice to add more countries/cities. Because having to click “add day”, over and over get’s a little annoying. Imagine if you are going for a 3 week trip.  I think it would be more user friendly is you choose your countries not just country. Then the next page choose your cities not just city and finally on the last page before heading to the map choose how many days you want to spend in each specific city.

    5. There weren’t a lot of restaurant/food/dining options.

    6. Trying to add another country and city and doing it in the right order is frustrating. I think you should choose days and corresponding country/city right at the start. Then on the map as soon as you scroll to day 3 it will know you want to go to Lyon or whatever city/country you choose and the map will automatically change for you. I think this would be much more user friendly. I’m not computer illiterate and this took me a few goes to get right, so think about users who aren’t so internet savvy.

What do you like about Tripomatic?

    1. It is a free service to use.

    2. I like being able to scroll over the map and little descriptions and a picture of the attraction pop up.

    3. The map is easy to navigate using your mouse and zoom buttons.

    4. I like that it shows you the address of the attraction which is great to show taxi drivers for the smaller not well known attractions. I also like that it automatically finds you the route from the hotel to attraction and shows you distance and time to it.

    5. Being able to share your trip on Facebook.

    6. I like the “Must See” feature on the map and being able to search attractions by category.

    7. The itinerary was great and easy to understand. The added features like phone, email and website addresses are great.  Also the “Information about destinations I’ll visit” gives you a nice brief background of the countries and cities.

    8. The other options are also great for sharing your itinerary like Facebook, Twitter, embedded on a webpage etc.

Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

My main frustration and dislike was trying to add another country and city. I think this could be made much more user friendly as I could see others having the same problem. I also think your homepage could be more inviting. Overall I think this is a great tool.  The main thing I would like to see is more worldwide destinations added to the list.

  10. Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the homepage. What do you think the site is about?
This is the second time I’ve seen Tripomatic here on StartUpLift, so I remember it as a site for travel planning. However, even if i was a first-time visitor, I’d have no problem understanding what your site is about. Your headline, “Trip Planning You’ll Love,” says it all, and just in case anyone is still wondering, you follow that up by outlining the process in three easy steps. I can instantly see what your service offers and how to get started.

You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities).
Done. I chose Florence and Venice.

Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.
I wasn’t initially sure how to do this, but I went on instinct and selected “Add Yours” from the upper right corner of the map. That turned out to be the correct choice. I noticed that you filled in the names of eateries and such on the map (very helpful), so I picked one of these to add in for lunch.

What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?
I was going to say that one of the first things I liked was that when I clicked on my country of choice, i was immediately given both a list of cities and a Google map of the whole country. I thought the Google map was going to be really helpful so that I could pick two cities that were reasonably close to each other. Unfortunately, the little magnifying glass icons covered the names of the cities! I ended up needing to go to Google Maps to find out if my cities of choice, Venice and Florence, were close enough to visit both in four days. Also, I noticed that the map wasn’t in English. That threw me a little because some of the Italian names for cities are quite different than the English translations. I would suggest that you provide one national map that doesn’t have icons and is in English just so that people can get a better idea of the layout of the country and decide which cities they want to go to before they start looking for individual activities.

You’ve made some positive changes to your city maps, which I’ve detailed below, but one thing that still irks me is that after I’ve zoomed into a location, there’s no easy way to return to the default map. I can zoom out, but I never seem to zoom out to the right spot. It would be awesome if there was some kind of a reset feature that would take me back to the default city map.

You’ve also made some improvements to the must-see list (see below), but I still don’t like how it opens in the middle of the screen, blocking my view of the map. This makes it hard to move back and forth between the must-see list and the map. I’d suggest that you either have it open on the side of the screen instead of in the middle or allow users to adjust its margins.

When I was done planning my first day, I was unsure how to save my trip. I ended up finding a way to save it under “Trip Options…,” but I would have preferred a more visible save button. When I wanted to switch to a second city, I was also unsure at first how to do that. On instinct, I clicked the “Destinations” button and just picked another city. I was relieved when I was given the option to add it to my current itinerary. Would have been nice to see a button explicitly labeled “Add Another City” or similar.

What do you like about Tripomatic?
I really like the concept. When I’m planning a trip, I usually go out and buy a travel guide. It’s nice to be able to ditch the big, thick, expensive book and do this online for free. Also, I love that I can zoom around the map and get a sense for where things are in relation to each other so that I can plan my route and estimate travel time. That’s something you can’t easily do with a book!

I really like your home page. It presents what you do very simply and clearly and makes it easy to jump in and get started without even creating an account. Your popular trip suggestions are a nice touch for people who don’t want to do the research for themselves. Also, I like that you inform visitors right upfront that this is “100% free.” That’s good to know!

Your tutorial is one of the best I’ve seen in awhile just because it’s so straightforward and not at all fussy. There’s no video to load, no link to some other page. Just a small pop-up window that clearly states how to use the service in a few simple steps that you can click through at your own pace. Perfect!

One of the big changes from the last time I used Tripomatic is that I can now role over the icons on the map and see a little pop-up bubble for each sight. This is a vast improvement! Before, I had to click on each icon, which would then present me with another set of icons to click, and so on. That was a pain in the neck. The way you have it now, I can see what’s where at a glance unless one specific location has a lot of sights clustered together. Then I still have to click the icon to zoom in, but I only have to do it once to see all the sights in that area. This works a lot better!

Another change I really like is that I can now click on any of the sights on the city map and get a pop-up with a brief description, pictures, a star rating, and contact info. I’d like to see Tripomatic go further in this direction and provide more detailed descriptions, user reviews, and hours of operation, but this is a good start. One question, though: How are the star ratings calculated? Are these user ratings? Zagat ratings? Whose ratings are they?

Yet another step in the right direction is that now when I click on each activity in the must-see list, I’m taken to a page with info about that destination. The odd thing about it, though, is that I have to scroll down the page quite a ways to see this info. I’d rather see it at the top of the page. However, another change to the must-see list that I really like is that now I can see which activities I’ve already picked. Well done!…Oh, hey! Just realized that I can also see just the must-sees on the main city map by clicking the “Must See” tab. Awesome!

I also really like that I can drag the sights on my itinerary to change their order. I’m not sure if this is a change from last time, but I really like it. When I hover over a destination, it also highlights on my map and offers me the option to easily move it to a different day if I want. Love that! In addition, I see that there are now time estimates for traveling between destinations. Nice!

Finally, I really like how the activities I pick are highlighted on the map. I’m not sure if you had this feature last time I was at the site, but it’s really great. The activities remain highlighted even when I switch to the hotel tab, which is fantastic because now I can pick a hotel according to its proximity to the sights I want to see. When I was all done, the “Get Trip Plan” button made it clear how to get my customized itinerary in print-out form, which was also a welcome change from last time.

I’m so much happier with Tripomatic now that you’ve made all these improvements! Last time I was at the site, I struggled to plan a convenient trip because it was hard to locate sights I wanted to see on the map and understand their spatial relationship to each other. You’ve pretty much corrected this problem, and now trip planning with your site is fun and easy! You’ve also added lots of nice touches like the expanded info about each sight, hotels that display in relation to the travel itinerary, a must-see tab on the map, and more explicitly labeled buttons. I really like Tripomatic a lot now, and I’ll definitely be back!

  11. Fantastic work, keep it up. Thank you so much for this insightful feedback.

Star ratings for the points of interest express attractivity of the place. It is a compilation of multiple data sources right now.

  12. Google Chrome – Windows Vista

Please visit https://www.tripomatic.com/ Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the homepage. What do you think the site is about?

Trip planning software which is 100% free!

What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?

    1. Not a major frustration – Would be nice if you could select and view where your hotel is before choosing the first activity.

    2. When going back to select the second destination I was a bit unsure of whether my previous work would be saved or whether I would loose it.

    3. When going back to the map screen it had jumped from day 2 to day 4.  I had to select the dropdown menu to go back to day 3.

    4. The tutorial window opened again when moving to the second destination.  I would imagine that this could become frustrating if planning a trip with a number of destinations.  Perhaps a button at the top of the screen allowing you to play the tutorial again if you want to might be better than having to cancel it each time you change destination?

    5. I’m not sure whether I did something wrong but after selecting the second destination and clicking on the button “Add To Current Trip” and going back to the main screen the map hadn’t updated to the second destination.

    6. I noticed that when selecting a new destination that the system automatically adds the new destination to a new day. The only reason I noticed this was because I created a new day (day 3) and then selected the new destination.  When I clicked “Add To Current Trip” I was taken to day 4.  I had to delete day 3 from the schedule to get it right.  I think this is why the map was not updated correctly the first time I tried to do this (see point 3 above).

    7. Once back on the map screen I noticed the “Hotels” tab at the top of the page.  Perhaps you could add a note somewhere to say that if you want to choose a hotel before choosing activities then you need to start by clicking that tab.

    8.  The “Add Yours” button at the top right of the screen was not visible at all.  The only reason I found it was because you asked that I add my own activity.  In trying to figure out how to do this I noticed the “Add Yours” button.  If you had not asked that I add my own activity I would not have know that that option was available.

    9.  Once I completed planning my trip I was unsure of what to do next.  I clicked the “Trip Options” button and saved a name for my trip.  After that I wasn’t sure how to print or email my travel plans.  I went back to the Destinations screen but couldn’t find anything there so went back to the map screen which added another day which I needed to delete.

    10.  I then noticed “Sign In” at the top right hand side of the page and created a new account.  I received the welcome email and then went back and logged in.  I was a bit nervous that my trip info would be lost but I was happy to see that everything was still there. I then still wasn’t sure how to download or email everything so I clicked on my account where the “Sign In” button was previously.  I then clicked on the “My Trips” option which took me to the screen where I could see my trip listed.  I then clicked on this which then opened up the trip and gave me options on the left hand side of the screen to download, print and email my trip.

What do you like about Tripomatic?

    1. I liked the quick tutorial which explains how everything works.

    2. Liked that distances and times are shown.

    3. I liked that once a hotel was selected that you are able to move your mouse over the name of the hotel on the left hand side of the screen and click “Show on Map”.  Really nice feature if you are wanting to plan your activities around where you are staying.

    4. Liked that if you selected an activity that was already included on a previous day that the system allows you the option of deleting it if you would like to.

    5. Once I had figured out how to use the system it really was easy to use.

Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

I think that this is an awesome tool once you know how to use it.  I think further explanation needs to be given as far as needing to register and log in if you want to download and email your trip.  Possibly a very clear link somewhere saying something like: “Download, Save and Print” with instructions on how to register and then from there log in to get to all those options.

All in all I think this is an amazing tool which I would definately use myself and would also recommend to friends and family!

  13. Thank you for your feedback. It was very helpful.
We already know some users experience trouble about the final step, thanks for confirmation. We will fix this soon. If you use Tripomatic in the future, please mind the button ‘Get Trip Plan’ below the logo, left to the map. It is what you were looking for 🙂

  14. Please visit https://www.tripomatic.com/ Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the homepage. What do you think the site is about?
Its a trip planning site where one gets to choose a destination, see its attractions and explore. Most if not all of the destination’s major attractions are laid down, and all this service availed for free.

Your goal is to plan a perfect trip. You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities). Choose what to do according to your real interests, make the trip as good as you can. You should spend most of the time on this task.

    Anonymous’ Euro-trip.
I live in Africa(Kenya) and have never ventured outside my country’s borders. This is going to be fun. Since I have never been to Europe, I randomly settle for Portugal. Not knowing which listed City to start with, I am obliged to choose by willing the country option instead.

    Day 1
By help of the simple tutorial I zoom and settle on Monfrague National Park(I love birds). There is an option to choose a hotel as the starting place of a journey but once I click on a hotel I am directed to a booking site. Not bad though, one gets to know trip is/can-be real and not just virtual(Online).

Next destination is Trujillo Castle (seems serene), a 16hr drive by car from Monfrague. At this point, I have the hotel all figured(i.e including it in trip without the booking link). You just hover over a hotel on the map after selecting hotel tab next to activities tab and get to see the rates and selecting it(tutorial part II). There is also a trip option where I get to name my trip(Euro-trip), set arrival date and even publicly share it on Facebook..cool!! I choose Ciudad del Jerte, a 4 star hotel, and 34 hr drive from Trujillo.  I arrive very tired and take a deserved rest..

    Add Day 2
Still not had had enough rest, I decide to go shopping after choosing activity by category. No!there are no shopping places around the area. I give up and travel 106km to Salamanca Mayor Square where I will get to intaract with the locals. There is Hotel La Rad 15.3km away where I will stay. Twenty two minutes later, I am in Salamanca Battlefield an apparently impressive place.

    Add day3
I decide to see my trip plan and I am directed to signing in. I am no longer anonymous but a Mr. James Worth. Done with Portugal I head to Spain, Portugal’s nearest country to the in(famous) city of Madrid. I choose hotel Hostal Que Tal for a two day stay. First thing on my mind is shopping and I settle on Llibertat Market, a 16 minute walk from the hotel.
Todays agenda will be more of sight seeing and my next stop is La Monumental Bullring, luckily the ban on bullfighting hasn’t taken effect yet. A trip is not complete until one has visited a party zone and the place to be today is Razzmatazz club, the most happening club in Barcelona.
I didn’t even noticed how abruptly the day ended.

    Day 4
Being my last day, I want to minimize day’s activities so as not to miss my flight back home. While taking a morning stroll, I chance upon Sagrada Familia Church, an unfinished church and Spain’s most visited monument. It is by all means a spectacular site, but today there is no wasting time, I have to visit Camp Nou, team Barcelona’s home ground and my favorite football team. Along the way, I am forced to stop at park Guell. It is one of the most fascinating garden complex I have laid my eyes on. I take one lap around and proceed to another equally picturesque place; Pedralbes Royal Palace. Its a former royal residence and now hosting two museums. It is evident I can’t explore it all. I complete my trip at Camp Nou and it is worth being the last place in my iterinary.

Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.
Included a custom activity called adrenaline rush. Described it as places with activities that set the adrenaline flowing like bungee jumping, go karting, banana ride among others.
What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?
~Buttons placed at the bottom where one has to scroll down to access them. For example, when choosing most     popular destinations I was wondering why nothing was happening until I decided to scroll down where I found the add to current trip and start new trip buttons.
~The hover effect is too sensitive that moving from one site/place to another can be chaotic.
~Left side of site can be confusing after creating trip. It would do with some orderly layout and color.
What do you like about Tripomatic?
~The site is dynamic giving more power to user since it acts like a stand alone application.
~I like the Tutorial (5 steps to master tiptronic). It is detailed and informatory.
~Site is on point. It doesn’t try to sell anything and all maneuvering is left to user.
~like the timing aspect where you get to know distance to be covered by time and kilometers. Also whether one can reach destination by foot or by car.
~Choosing an activity by category, and customizing one really narrows selection down by one’s taste, especially for a new person.
~I like the trip trail that appears as one adds activities on the map.
~The pop-ups are well designed. They expectedly show up as a result of some action and therefore not a nuisance.
~The blog page’s archive is arranged in quite an orderly manner.
~Easy site navigation and cool colors (blue and white)to the eye. The simple logo and name are also cool and not easily forgettable.
~Easy signing-up and sign-in and excellent use of social sites like Facebook, for example through the FB sign-up and publicly sharing one’s trip.
Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
If there is anything to be changed at tripomatic.com site, it would be very little. The site is professional and fun to use. I spend  some considerable amount of time there and I learned a lot about Europe. Although it can be a little tasking for a non-European, the ease at which one adds destination after destination cancels the difficulty. Places are well described and adeptly inter-connected visually. A little bit more information on flights, train stations, spoken language, unsafe areas etc can be availed.

  15. Please visit https://www.tripomatic.com/ Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the homepage. What do you think the site is about?
A site to help with planning a trip.

Your goal is to plan a perfect trip. You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities). Choose what to do according to your real interests, make the trip as good as you can. You should spend most of the time on this task.
I created a 4 day trip with 2 days in Dublin and 2 days in Edinburgh. I tried to include a good mix of touristy spots and general relaxing. I also looked at the different food options. I found the tutorial very helpful and key to understanding how to get started.

Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.
I added a picnic in Holyrood Park in Edinburgh. Very easy to add, though I might not know that existed if I hadn’t been looking for it. Maybe change the button to “Add your own activity”. You might also want to move the button more left, nearer to the “by category” drop down. Where it is now I would never think to look for it. I would assume that any option to customize a activity would be right next to the “must see” button, not next to the search button.
What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?
As a regular user of Google maps I’m used to obtaining a brief blurb on something (like what’s shown when rolling over a activity in Tripomatic) by clicking on the map once.  Therefore I found it annoying that when I clicked on an activity in Tripomatic there was a whole popup window. Because I’m habituated to Google maps I kept clicking instead of rolling over by accident, which slowed me down when just trying skimming though activities.
It would also be helpful in making more clear how to add another destination. When it was time for me to add a second city I was a little confused. I was afraid that if I clicked on “<DESTINATIONS” that I might lose what I’d planned so far. Maybe change the button to say “Add or Change Destination”. Once I clicked on the button it was obvious how to add that second destination.
Another thing is when searching for hotels it would be nice if there was some way to see the general range of the rates when rolling over a specific hotel. Even just a simple scheme of $ to $$$$ would be helpful. That way I could know right away if a hotel was in my budget or not. As it is the “Show rates” takes me to Booking.com where I have to enter in my checkin/out dates just to see the prices. It’s kinda of a pain to go to another website, just to get the general idea of the price range.
One other thing is a tried searching for “Hikes” while in Dublin, it returned no results in the activities, hotels, and other locations in the current area, but did have a result in the destinations at the top. I found this very confusing. I was looking for hikes in Dublin, but the first thing listed is a something in Sweden? I even clicked on “move map” because I thought maybe it was searching the wrong area and that button might let me set it to the correct one. This of course took me to that place in Sweden, where luckily I was able to easily navigate back to Dublin. I would suggest putting results in other destinations at the bottom of the results box. So list results under these headings in this order: “Activities around current location”, “Hotels around current location”, “Other places around current location” and then have the heading “Destinations”.
It might also be able to view all the activities in a list form somewhere. For example it might be nice to see a list of all the museums in Dublin without having to roll over each icon. That way I could browse the list and if I see a museum I like I could add it to my trip and then build that rest of the day around it. (I’m envisioning that clicking on something on the list would add it to your trip automatically and bring you back to the map view). This especially helpful if I’m not exactly sure where I want to start.

What do you like about Tripomatic?
I found the interactive map a very handy and unique way plan a trip. Usually when planning I have to have Google map open in a separate tab, just to make sure all the activities are feasible from my locations. On Tripomatic, the highlighted trail and the exact distance between my activities completely eliminates the need for that. I especially like how Tripomatic rearranges my activities as I click on them to make a efficient route. I also like that this is flexible and I can easily change the order of my activities if I wish.

Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.
Overall I found the site fairly easy and intuitive to use and actually kind of fun. It is definitely the kind of site I’d play around with when planning a trip.

  16. Please visit https://www.tripomatic.com/ Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the homepage. What do you think the site is about?
I thought the website had too much white space on the main page and was too simple.  This site seems like a cool idea for people very new to a city

Your goal is to plan a perfect trip. You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities).

After I selected the first city and saw the map – it was too confusing so I selected either the Must see list or the Tours list for ideas. After selected these buttons, I had more interest in planning the trip.  I liked the pictures associated with the tours.
Choose what to do according to your real interests, make the trip as good as you can. You should spend most of the time on this task.
It was fun adding the days and adding the hotels to certain days on my trip
Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.
Adding my own activity was fun as well.
What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?
The map was too busy and that was frustrating.  Zooming in or out seemed to help me view the map better.
What do you like about Tripomatic?
I loved the pictures of the different tours ( Disney in Paris, etc)

No additional feedback. Otherwise I look forward to accessing this site in the near future.

  17. Please visit https://www.tripomatic.com/ Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the homepage. What do you think the site is about?

I feel that the website is another clone to other travel-based sites such as Expedia or Travelocity, particularly with the blue-on-white color scheme and hints of orange text. However, I find the lack of unnecessary clutter aesthetically pleasing. The site appears to specialize in trips to locations exclusive to Europe. While I appreciate the simplicity of the initial page, perhaps it is a bit too plain, and seems incomplete. Initial image slideshow gives me a nice indicator of what I believe I am to suspect as I start creating my trip.

Your goal is to plan a perfect trip. You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities). Choose what to do according to your real interests, make the trip as good as you can. You should spend most of the time on this task.

I really enjoyed how hovering over various locations gave you an idea of the type of place it was, particularly with how many of the bars have various moods. Booking a hotel also allowed me to review the locations on an external site, which I also felt was very convenient. Perhaps streamlining the price and star-rating of each hotel on the actual planner interface without having to access the external site would allow people to not feel so overwhelmed with the massive amount of locations available.

Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.

While I could find soccer/football clubs and locations, I couldn’t find any particular matches on a local scale. I would love to be a spectator for an inexpensive match or two.

What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?

I found the way in which I was to add other destinations particularly frustrating, and I am not sure if I was even adding another destination to my trip correctly. I would use the “< DESTINATIONS” to return, choose “Add to my current trip” and then there would be the four days I had planned plus an additional day included at the bottom of the original four. I ended up deleting one of the days and then manually searching for the location I wanted to spend the other half of my four-day adventure on. Given how streamlined the rest of the experience was, I felt that the page to find hotels would have more information on the hotel choices as well as a drop-down menu to add other destinations and methods of travel. With how well the site accommodated everything else, just knowing about current and upcoming local events in the towns I’m visiting as well as some suggestions on travelling within and outside of the country would help me a great deal.
What do you like about Tripomatic?
I really appreciated how Tripomatic let me basically explore the map and hover over sites of interest and then give me more information if I desired. I definitely felt I was in control of my vacation without having extraneous pop-ups or parts of the websites soliciting me suggestions for my vacation. This is a very clean, very friendly site that really allows the user to be in control of their trip (definitely something hard to find with many other travel sites).

Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have.

This seems to be a very useful site that stresses convenience without being too abrasive to the user; however, sometimes I appreciate having my hand held through some experiences, or just to get some fresh insight from those who have more experience with what I’m looking at (for instance, with the particular sites and places to go in Brussels). What I feel a lot of travel sites really miss the mark on is just how much they attempt to lead the customer into making choices, as opposed to letting the customer make their own. Oddly enough, this site does just the opposite. For that reason, I would love to see an option on the site that show a more personalized list of what I’m looking for than what was offered with the “Must See List”. Granted, the peeing boy statue definitely made it on my list, but I’d be sold on a list of top places to eat.

    > Done, I chose Paris and Rome

    > I am more into technology and gaming stuff so I tried searching for computer shops and yeah I was able to find it but it is like hours away from hotel I selected and there are no hotels nearby the computer shops. Anyway, most of the activities that I want are included in the map and they can be easily find.
What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?

    > When I go back to select a city then I chose Rome and clicked on Add to current trip. It added one more day in my trip. I don’t know if its me whose doing it wrong but yeah, that is one of the things I found not really frustrating. But more or less confusing.
What do you like about Tripomatic?

    > What I like about the site is that it gives you a map and a direction of your plans for the specific day. So with this, it will help people plan their trip to a specific place and spend their time wisely. All in all, the main idea of the site actually impresses me. Not only me but a lot of people around me. We will most likely make use of the website from now on.

    > One thing I wanna share though, maybe you can put links like “About Us” “Contact Us” “Help and Support” or something like that at the bottom of the home screen. Since some people tend to just call a support or email a support than spend the time reading everything on the website to have their questions answered. Just a friendly tip though.

  19. Please visit https://www.tripomatic.com/ Spend no more than 5-10 seconds on the homepage. What do you think the site is about?

It appears that the site is designed to allow you to plan your trip from beginning to end.  The site is offering a detailed listing and descripton of things to do while visiting the included European destinations.

Your goal is to plan a perfect trip. You will want to visit 2 European cities of your choice during 4 days (4 days = total length of the trip covering both the cities). Choose what to do according to your real interests, make the trip as good as you can. You should spend most of the time on this task.

I choose Amsterdam and London. I included visits to the zoo and aquariums since I love animals.  There were also visits to the park.

Include your own activity that you didn’t find on the map. E.g. a walk in the park.

I added a beach activity in one of the surrounding cities.

What do you find most frustrating about Tripomatic.com? How can we improve the website?

I found the map frustrating but only the sections were there were multiple pictures so you had to click the magnifier or use the slider.  I just think the functionality of that could be better.  I would like more vibrant icons for the “plan your own activity” function. I found then quite bland and unappealing. Also, on the summary page the turquoise font color is distracting in the section where the days and destinations are listed. Maybe the names of the places you will visit each day can match the color code for the day or something. There needs to be some contrast there. Everything just looks the same and kind of blurs together.

What do you like about Tripomatic?

I liked the different ways to share my itinerary once I was done.  I tried the PDF converter which was nice.  then I had the option of sharing my trip on facebook or twitter.  I could also keep it private if I wanted to also.  I liked the flexibility because sometimes you are planning trips with friends and you want to be able to compare notes on what it is you are interested in doing.  Also, the pictures you have are beautiful, quality images which I appreciated.

Overall, I think this is a great website as far as the concept goes. It saves me the trouble of have to do countless internet searches and website visits to see what’s fun to do. Plus with the added option to upload from your site to facebook and/or twitter we can get feedback on our planned trip to see if other people have a suggestion. The only issue I see is if I could remove the dates of travel and the hotel name so the information is a little private.
