About TrippyDoo:

TrippyDoo is a new social network that is aimed at travelers. Here, they will have a ready chance to connect with each other and narrate their past trips, sharing advice and insight with the ones who are contemplating visiting the very same destinations they have visited.

Experiences are shared on the site by way of text, photos & videos. The website gives users the chance to become fans of other users’ trips, and give others a better idea of what it is that they want to achieve when traveling anywhere. Besides, they can update their travel statuses much in the same way that one updates his status on sites such as Facebook, and they are also provided with a tool that is named TripHelp. This tool will let them find travel-related information in real time. Useful when one is in a hurry and decisions have to be made with no time to spare.

I think the site is about me sharing my experiences of where I have traveled to others.  Also, reading other people’s experiences of where they have traveled to.

I did like the fact that it was simple an brief.  One thing I did not like about the sign up process is I was unable to pick the city I would have liked to.
    3. How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors?
I think the site stands out compared to similar ones.  Though there will most likely be something better sooner so it’s better just to keep it updated.

A: The name “trippydoo” is confusing. When going to the website, I thought it was something related to booking travel. It’s a good thing that you explain on the home page what the site does, because I would have thought it was a similiar site to expedia.com. It’s not until clicking and navigating was it that I realized that it’s just for sharing pictures, not booking airfare or hotels, etc.

Sign up process was pretty simple and strait forward. Anybody who would be interested in signing up should be able to sign up in just a few mins.

The color scheme and the animation of the little sheep reminds me of Esurance for some reason.

The biggest competitor is obviously trip advisor, but what I enjoyed about this site is that it is more like facebook and geared towards a younger crowd. It seems like if I want to know where to party at, I should share on your website. If I want to know where to go on my honeymoon, I should look at trip advisor.

I enjoy the “public timeline”. There are times when you just have a few mins, and want to see other people’s pictures. You might not really want in depth details, you just want to look. Very good feature.

I’d like to once again bring to your attention that the name “trippydoo” its a bit tricky and misleading. I just texted a few of my buddies and asked them what they thought the site was for. Most thought it was an expedia.com or cheaptickets.com type website, and were surprised when I told them it was more user friendly version of trip adviser.

When I first got to the site I thought it was for people to share their experiences of trips (good & bad) and give reviews about where they stayed or ate or excursions they went on while they were gone.  After checking thru the site a bit it seems like it’s only a place for people to go to share their pictures of the trips they went on.  Not many of the trips I checked had anything other than the map pinpointing where they visited and pictures and that’s it.

This would be a much more fun site if it were more of a review of the actual trips and not just pictures.  It would be rich with information about certain hotels or rest stops or restaurants…etc.  The name is a perfect fit for more of a review site and if the experience that was had was not a good one then the poster could label it as a TrippyDon’t instead of a TrippyDoo 🙂  This is fun and playful and it goes along with the graphics and color scheme which I think are cute and upbeat.

I used FB connect but accidentally tried to register since it was asking for my name, country & city.  I did notice that the actual city I live in is not listed…maybe it would be a better idea to label it City (closest to you) rather than just city so people aren’t scrolling up and down the list for their actual city.

How do you think the site compares to other similar sites/competitors?
This question is a bit confusing as the site to me only seems to be a place to share pictures of the trip and not actual experiences 🙁  For instances such as this I would say a site like FB is just as easy to use and most of the pictures usually have a detailed explanation of what they are, where they were taken or funny little tidbits about the people in the pics.

As a review site (like I thought it was originally) I think it could thrive.  This is a site I would go to in order to see if anyone else had been on a trip I was thinking about taking so I could see if they had any advice of where to say, events to see, places to stay away from…etc.  Kind of like how I always go to Amazon.com or Walmart.com if I’m planning on buying something and always read the reviews there to see which type of product is the best for me to buy considering the opinions of those who have already purchased the item I’m thinking about.  In that instance I would find this site to be more likely to visit simply because I find the colors and the graphics to be very appealing and comical.

I shared above 🙂  I’d change the site to more of a review type site and fix the city entry a bit to be less confusing.  Keep the colors and graphics though…love them!!

I think this site is a place where I can learn about the good and bad about vacation destinations based on other users’ experiences. I expect to find out a lot of information about places I’m interested in visiting.

I used FB connect and was surprised that I needed to provide more information such as my birthdate- I didn’t see anything about an age limit, so I prefer not to provide that. I’d rather just put my birth year if my age is important to other users. Still, it was a very easy process. I’m sure even a very young person could fill it in with ease.

I haven’t been to other sites like this. However, I did attempt to have a thorough experience with this one. I decided to add a trip to Niagara Falls, Canada because I like to view it best from that side of the boarder. When I put that down as my location, the site told me that I needed to enter in a valid location and put a marker on the map. I proceeded to put the marker on the map by first, zooming in on Niagara Falls. Second, I looked for a marker to drag to the correct location, but found one. Third, I zoomed out to see where a marker was located, but again found none. Forth, I entered in Niagara Falls, NY. The map placed a marker in Africa, which I thought was odd. I thought it would be in NE USA instead. I attempted to drag the marker from Africa to a location near Niagara Falls, and it went back the Africa. I tried again, and succeeded. Then, I zoomed in closer so that I could place it more accurately. It worked well. Then, I clicked the “save and continue” button and got a blank screen. I used the back button and tried again. On the next page, I could enter in information about my trip including how much money I spent, where I stayed, ate, pros/cons, other comments, etc. I entered information about who I had with me on the trip I took 5 years ago. I couldn’t remember the details to put in the other information because I didn’t have it handy. I liked how  it appeared that I could save the information in each section as I filled it in.  However, my computer shut down unexpectedly. When I came back, it appeared that my comments and selections weren’t saved after all. This would have been a great feature since computers crash, experience power outages, etc. I really like the graphics for telling why I recommend this trip and for whom. I chose “family,” “food and drinks,” and ” site seeing.”

I really like the appearance of the website. It seems user friendly with a few exceptions. However, I don’t like that I got a blank page 3+ times when I used links within the site. One of the times I didn’t mention above when I clicked the “Home” button in the menu. I used the back button on my browser and it didn’t let me go to the home page. Perhaps it has something to do with me not finishing filling in all the blanks for my trip. I also didn’t figure out how to enter in my information, maybe that’s because I didn’t complete every section about the trip. Will a button show up later to let me proceed to another page?
Good luck with this site. I think it will be very useful since people  often search for opinions and useful information about vacations before they go. I like the questions that were asked about vacations because it included most, if not all, information I would like to have before I invested my time and money on a trip.
