  1. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?

The home page is okay, but it doesn’t wow me.

There isn’t much to write about. The orange and gray color scheme is all right. It seems to work well with the photos of the different shows.

I guess some people would be interested in seeing how other people rate a show. But these are pretty much programs that I already know my opinion about, so it’s not like rating a movie to help me decide if I want to watch it or not.

Rather, since this is supposed to be a place to discuss my favorite shows, I’d much rather see comments of what others are saying then log in to join the conversation.

Also, I would like to see video comments as well as written posts.

    2) Sign in using your Twitter Account (Click Log in button on top right). After you are redirected to the “Final Step”, change your “Display Name” to something else. List your display name here.

    The display name is: MarketResearch

    3) After you sign up, was the process straightforward? Did you find anything confusing or annoying?

Signing in did not go smoothly. When I first clicked to connect with Twitter, it said that something went wrong. I re-did it and was told that my Twitter account was already in use. I closed that page and logged in again. This time, it worked.

    4) Find some episodes of shows that you remember well. Rate the episodes and comment on them. How did you find this process?

The basic process for posting and rating is easy. However, what would make this easier is if pages opened in a new window, so I wouldn’t have to remember to do that manually or have to use the back button all the time.

    5) Does this seem like the kind of site that you would want to use? What additional features would make you want to use it on a regular basis?

What I’m going to write is strictly me. I suspect that there are people who have time and desire to spend on this site and would be on here every day, but . . .

I probably wouldn’t want to use the site that much. There may be certain episodes or certain moral or ethical dilemmas that I’d like to discuss with others, but usually I watch a program and then go next in my life. For me, watching these programs is just a way of relaxing after a day’s work. I don’t usually want to spend time talking about them.

It is possible that if I were on vacation or sick, that I would find this a fun way to pass the time without having to put in much effort.

And I suspect that there are many people who enjoy discussing these programs on a regular basis. When working for others (I’m self-employed), co-workers used to love to discuss what happened on the Tonight Show or Survivor more than any dramas.

    6) What similar websites are you familiar with and how does the experience compare to this site?

I am not familiar with any other websites that focus on discussing TV programs, so I googled and went onto both http://www.fanforum.com and forums.thedigitalfix.com. There appears to be considerable activity on both. What I like about FanForum is that it includes photos of the shows and its members in the forums. However, both of their home pages are solely listings of the different forums.

Therefore, your home page with photos of the different shows is more inviting to me; I feel it far superior to the other two. Visuals are really helpful and more enticing than just words.

    7) Does the name of the site mean anything to you?

Not really. I guess it stands for Video You (Your Video) or View You. But if I didn’t have any idea what the site was about and was shown the name Viyoo, I wouldn’t have a clue.

  2. 1.)
My initial impression of the home page seems a little bland. I see the sentence at the top as to what I think the site is supposed to be about, but because there are no instructions or any other information on this page, it makes me think that I have landed on a page that just has random images. By just looking at this page, I wonder what this page is supposed to be about.

    3.)
I did not find anything confusing or annoying. It was pretty straight forward as to what information was being asked for and what was going to happen with my Twitter account.

    4.)
Rating an episode seems pretty good. It was nothing difficult in being able to do it. After giving it a rating, you mention a few brief sentences about the show and click post comment. It was very simple and easy to do.

    5.)
Does this seem like a site I would use, I don’t know. I can see the simplicity of it and how if it is linked with your Twitter account, it would post these comments for you. If there were many other using this site and I would see an increase of tweets about shows that we watch maybe so. But I also know that sometimes, at the start of an episode, there will be a hashtag at the beginning that you could look up and reply in. I guess, I would have to wait and see this grow a bit. So for the moment, I wouldn’t know what else could be added to this, right now, I like the simplicity of it. Just need some instructions in the beginning to understand what the site is about.

    6.)
As I mentioned in the last question, with Twitter, you can wait for the hashtag at the beginning of the episode and see how the show is trending from there. With this site, I can how simple it is since all the shows are here to view and add your comment from here, so that makes it very simple.

    7.)
As for what the name means to me, I wouldn’t have any idea. I’m sorry. I guess T “V & You” and how the TV interacts with the watcher and vice versa.

  3. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
I thought the homepage was really straightforward. It is very easy to understand what the site is about. The line “Viyoo is the place to chat about your favourite TV shows!” explains it all.

I also like the simplicity of the page. It doesn’t look cluttered. It was nice that the ratings and comment counts’ symbols are easy to identify and emphasized enough. I also like the graph that pops up when I hover over the ratings. I really like the homepage.

    2) Sign in using your Twitter Account (Click Log in button on top right). After you are redirected to the “Final Step”, change your “Display Name” to something else. List your display name here.

    3) After you sign up, was the process straightforward? Did you find anything confusing or annoying?
Yes it was quick and easy. I’m just curious though if signing up will only be limited to twitter.

    4) Find some episodes of shows that you remember well. Rate the episodes and comment on them. How did you find this process?
The process is easy but I did get an Error page several times (whenever I try to rate) so that I had to try over and over again.

    5) Does this seem like the kind of site that you would want to use? What additional features would make you want to use it on a regular basis?
Yes! It would be nice if there is a search box to search for a tv show. I think it will also be helpful if there is an option to bookmark the shows I watch so that I can easily comment on them.

    6) What similar websites are you familiar with and how does the experience compare to this site?
I usually go to forums (fanforum.com) to see episode discussions and the experience is a lot different. I think Viyoo is more direct, simple and easy to navigate in. All I have to do is find the tv show, join the discussion and put in my comments. What I also like about Viyoo is that I can quickly see the ratings (per season too) and easily tell if a show is worth watching or not.

    7) Does the name of the site mean anything to you?
Not really but it sounds like “view” to me and makes me think of viewing tv shows and such.

  4. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
First impression is that it will be a very easy to use, yet simple site. I like how the design is meant to be simple, but I do think it’s a little too bland. Especially for a reviews website.

    2) Sign in using your Twitter Account (Click Log in button on top right). After you are redirected to the “Final Step”, change your “Display Name” to something else. List your display name here.

    3) After you sign up, was the process straightforward? Did you find anything confusing or annoying?
Yes, the process was completely straight-forward and easy to do, that I’d expect from a website like this. The only thing I found annoying was the fact you HAVE to sign up with Twitter, I think other options should be available.

    4) Find some episodes of shows that you remember well. Rate the episodes and comment on them. How did you find this process?
Easy, was done in a matter of seconds. I find it convenient how simple to do it is, on other websites it takes awhile to get round to actually commenting on how you found the website.

    5) Does this seem like the kind of site that you would want to use? What additional features would make you want to use it on a regular basis?
No, it’s hard to distinguish whether the purpose of the website is for reviews or for discussion. It seems more child friendly than anything because of the simplicity of the website.
If I were to use this site regularly, I’d like to see short clips of the episodes as a re-cap considering you can comment on the episode individually it would be better to be reminded, a day after watching the episode I can never clearly remember the specifics, especially if I’d be writing multiple comments or having a discussion with another member.

    6) What similar websites are you familiar with and how does the experience compare to this site?
The site reminds me of a smaller scale IGM, it only compares because of the comment and review. It’s like a younger, simpler version of the site with how you can comment on series you enjoy and give a rating.

    7) Does the name of the site mean anything to you?
No. I don’t really see the relevance in the website name and social networking/dating websites have similar names, for some reason I think of them when reading the website name.

  5. 1) I can see a list of tv shows, they make a good impressions, even though a dark background with hd images usually draws more attenction.

    2) The display name I used is Athamas

    3) The process was quick, easy and straightforward.

    4) I commented on one of my favourite shows, Game of Thrones. The porcess was easy, nothing to complain about, the web site is well made.

    5) Yes, this website is interesting, I’d add a setting to rate the individual actors on their performance in each ep.

    6) Imbd is a similar website, it’s more complex and has a wider community. viyoo however, has a more simple and quick interface, less lag and a nice gui.

    7) The name is nice, easy to remember. As a matter of fact, it doesn’t remind me on anything in particular.

  6. 1)At a first sight the list of series caught my attenction for sure. I immediatly got curious about the various topics.

    2) After the sign in, an error occurred (error 500) and I wasn’t able to change my display name, so I kept my twitter nickame, but when I tried to log out and log in again, I discovered that my display name was effectively and correctly modified in CloudWalker, which is my current one.

    3) After my sign up I was directly redirected to the homepage, nothing went wrong. the process was quick, clear and easy.

    4) The process was easy and quick.

    5) I think I’d really like to use a site like this. I would appreciate the chance to create polls on specific topics regarding each episode.

    6) I knew rottentomaoes.com but i find this one more clear and easy to use!

    7) Actually, the name Viyoo doesn’t mean anything to me

  7. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?

My initial thought of the site is that I can download some movie here. The homepage is clean and I see my favorite tv show on the list and that is why it makes me think that this site is either a movie streaming or download sites. However, after seen your title “Viyoo is the place to chat about your favourite TV shows!” it makes everything clearer.

    2) Sign in using your Twitter Account (Click Log in button on top right). After you are redirected to the “Final Step”, change your “Display Name” to something else. List your display name here.
My display name : Jason Tay

    3) After you sign up, was the process straightforward? Did you find anything confusing or annoying?
The process is very easy, fast and straightforward. I did not find anything confusing.

    4) Find some episodes of shows that you remember well. Rate the episodes and comment on them. How did you find this process?
Commenting on an episode is easy. However, the rating bar not easy to locate. It took me a minute to find where is the rating area. The color for the unrated bar are almost the same as the background it lays on. It change only when i hover over. I would suggest to use a drink color for unrated bar, to make it more noticeable.

    5) Does this seem like the kind of site that you would want to use? What additional features would make you want to use it on a regular basis?

Yes but not on a regular basis. I would want to visit this site when i found a new drama and i wanted to know whether the drama is worth to watch. I like to visit this kind of website to see what other people has to says about the drama.

    6) What similar websites are you familiar with and how does the experience compare to this site?
I used to visit https://www.imdb.com/ for movies or dramas rating and comments. I think the different is that imdb not only have listing of dramas but also movies in the theater. I still would prefer to visit imdb for a drama review or rating because it has a lots of users and the rating are more reliable to me. But one thing that i like from your website is the design and layout of your site. It looks nicer than imdb and much more user friendly to me.

    7) Does the name of the site mean anything to you?
    No it doesn’t.

  8. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
My initial thought of the homepage is that it is very basic and user friendly. If I was looking for a place to chat about my favorite shows, this would be a place that would catch my attention initially. I like that it shows the number of posts in each show so that you can see if there is a conversation going on or just a single comment. The sentence at the tops is clea clear and simpsimple as to w to what thehhe site is for.

    2) Sign in using your Twitter Account (Click Log in button on top right). After you are redirected to the “Final Step”, change your “Display Name” to something else. List your display name here.
    In The Midwest

    3) After you sign up, was the process straightforward? Did you find anything confusing or annoying?
Yes, it was very straightforward. Just a few questions and it was complete. It makes it easy that it is connected with your Twitter account so all the information can be pulled from your profile there. I did not find anything annoying about the process.

    4) Find some episodes of shows that you remember well. Rate the episodes and comment on them. How did you find this process?
The process is very simple and easy. It would be easy to keep up with as you watch each new episode. I think it would be fun to see each new comment coming in and be able to reply to them.

    5) Does this seem like the kind of site that you would want to use? What additional features would make you want to use it on a regular basis?
I would definitely want to use this site as I am an avid TV watcher and this would help me continue my entertainment with each show. I would want to be able to favorite a comment and also be able to reply specifically to that comment without replying to the whole feed.

    6) What similar websites are you familiar with and how does the experience compare to this site?
I am not that familiar with sites like these other than the network’s chat boards. I have not looked at them often so I can’t really compare the experience. I have only scrolled through and looked at some of the comments.

    7) Does the name of the site mean anything to you?
No, I have no idea what it means or even how to spell it. That may be a deterrent in people coming to the site to use it specifically for chatting about TV shows.

  9. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?
It has the distinct feel of the many websites out there which carry videos-Dailymotion, Google videos, and to a lesser extent Youtube–it makes me think, “Oh, look, another random nameless website with videos on it that isn’t Youtube. Goodbye.” Even with the prominent declaration that it’s a website for discussing TV shows, it has the feel of a video website.

I see the name “Viyoo” and it doesn’t really suggest anything to me. It sounds like a randomly-chosen word, which makes me assume that this is a website in the sea of thousands that doesn’t do anything useful and forces me to doubt its authenticity. I like the fact that there are no ads on the page, but it seems sparse.

I notice that the purpose of the site is explained, which is good, but at the same time it doesn’t seem very compelling. You can chat about your favorite shows pretty much everywhere on the internet. Also, since it talks about chatting, I expected to see user quotes under each show–like a callout box that has the most recent or popular user quote with enlarged quotation marks to indicate what people are actually chatting about.

The icons on the right side of each show’s icon are unmarked. I feel like something’s missing, like I expect there to be words attached to each clickable button. I feel like there’s too little in the way of explanation. The speech balloon (chat?) button seems intuitive and logical, but the circle next to it does not explain anything. It seems to “insinuate” statistics about the show but does not explain any. Maybe this is a beta feature?

    2) Sign in using your Twitter Account (Click Log in button on top right). After you are redirected to the “Final Step”, change your “Display Name” to something else. List your display name here.
    Ned Stark

    3) After you sign up, was the process straightforward? Did you find anything confusing or annoying?
I feel that at some point, after clicking on a show, clicking on the “0 posts” button should allow me to post. First it will open up a season to show a list of episodes, but the next time you click it should take you to the discussion page. I feel a little ambiguity about whether I should go to the speech balloon icon on the right or try something else.

    4) Find some episodes of shows that you remember well. Rate the episodes and comment on them. How did you find this process?
Easy. Though the rating system could be a little clearer. I feel like the score out of 10 should say “score” or “user score/rating” or something of that nature. It feels like there’s not enough context for the number. I have to ask myself whether that might be the episode’s score based on user feedback or not, because it doesn’t say anything. I want the certainty of knowing what that number represents so I don’t have to guess. Also, maybe the tool for rating the episode could go next to the episode score. I feel like that would be more logical. The design is clean but it feels a little TOO stripped-down, maybe even incomplete.

    5) Does this seem like the kind of site that you would want to use? What additional features would make you want to use it on a regular basis?
Not really. If I wanted to talk about shows I could use Facebook, Twitter (which I don’t really use) or Tumblr (which I would absolutely never use).

    6) What similar websites are you familiar with and how does the experience compare to this site?
Facebook would be usable for talking about TV. There are many more users on Facebook and I know that I would only be talking to people I already know. I know that Twitter uses “hashtags” extensively which would make it easier to communicate with people you don’t already know, and I know that Tumblr is full of so-called memes related to television shows such as Game of Thrones and Sherlock. A person who just wanted to discuss TV shows could just go there.

Maybe it would be helpful to know what _kinds_ of discussions take place on Viyoo.

    7) Does the name of the site mean anything to you?
It sounded Indian at first, or at least not English. I tend to be suspicious of websites that have a foreign name unless the website is country or culture-specific. It struck me as being very random like “Zoosk” or “Smoople,” just a random combination of letters that would normally prevent me from ever clicking on the site. After a few minutes I realized that “Viyoo” spoken out loud sounds like “view” which is what you’re supposed to do with television shows.

  10. 1) Look around the home page – what is your initial impression of what you see?

My initial impression was that the site had a good list of new and current shows available. Looked very appealing.

    2) Sign in using your Twitter Account (Click Log in button on top right). After you are redirected to the “Final Step”, change your “Display Name” to something else. List your display name here.

    My display name is @jay07

    3) After you sign up, was the process straightforward? Did you find anything confusing or annoying?

The process was extremely easy and straightforward. Not confusing at all. Didn’t take much to sign up.

    4) Find some episodes of shows that you remember well. Rate the episodes and comment on them. How did you find this process?

Rating the shows were pretty simple. I liked how you are able to watch them as well.

    5) Does this seem like the kind of site that you would want to use? What additional features would make you want to use it on a regular basis?

It is a really nice site. Being able to watch the videos makes it a great option to use on a daily basis, especially if you are someone who likes to provide comments & feedbacks on the episodes.

    6) What similar websites are you familiar with and how does the experience compare to this site?

I really haven’t used any similar sites to this one. But if all feedback sites are as nice as it is I would use them.

    7) Does the name of the site mean anything to you?

Doesn’t mean a lot to me.
