1) Look around the home page – What is your initial impression of what you see?

2) Click on the “Search button” to make a search for events in your city. You will see a lot of things that are happening today in your local area. Think of some features or things you want to find on this website. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing? Are there any changes to the interface or UX to suggest?

3) How do you evaluate the quality of data published? Are you able to filter the events by your favourites categories or tags on the site. Was anything confusing?

4) Are you encouraged to return back to the site within the next few days to stay updated on new current events? Can you tell us why (or why not)? Could you suggest any way to encourage users to return to the site?

5) We are developing for WikiDo’s users a kind of subscription to a certain search: for example New York/this week/running or Boston/this weekend/jazz. Which channel could be good for keeping update users on their favorite searches? We are thinking about a weekly mail. Do you have any suggestions on other channels? How do American users prefer to remain updated on their favorite events?

6) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have to improve the site.

Love the logo! It draws your attention to the website and the “type your city” search box is nice and big and very easy to find.

Think of some features or things you want to find on this website. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing? Are there any changes to the interface or UX to suggest? My first impression was there was way too much stuff and boxes to click on. Cluttered feeling. Then I noticed the links for the Wiki tags and categories on the left. After clicking on a category, the results came up fast. They’re very colorful and easy to read and NOT a cluttered feeling. It wasn’t confusing to look at all the choices I had, great colors and pictures!

    3) How do you evaluate the quality of data published? Are you able to filter the events by your favourites categories or tags on the site. Was anything confusing?
The quality is great and easy to filter! I got excited looking at the events, too! Plenty of details that someone needs to know.

Definitely your site is worth bookmarking. It’s an easy and a fast way to search for things to do on a computer, smart phone or tablet! Especially when you’re out of town at a friend’s or family’s house! You can quickly go their home computer and find something to do.

Texts and emails are great to get notified. I picture myself standing in NY City with my smart phone and searching for something to do on your website! Especially if my plans get canceled and I want to do something else. Getting notifications on my phone for something that your site knows I may be interested in would be very convenient. It may notify me of something that I would like to do, but never thought of it as an option. Perhaps, being able to log into my account and check my notifications there. Similar to what Facebook does.

I would like if the list of Wiki tags and categories were easier to see. They get lost with all the colors and boxes on the home page! Perhaps, bigger fonts and/or on top in the center.
Love the site and look forward to using it!

  2. 1) Look around the home page – What is your initial impression of what you see?
My initial impression about the page is that it is like a  search engine, the logo WIKIDO give me the idea of it works like WIKIPEDIA which allows us to search for something we want to know and it will display the relevant result to us. It makes me think of it somehow related to facebook event feature. But it’s not. It would be good if people who created an open event in facebook can link to your site too, it would grow the popularity of your site and create more interactive with the facebook users.
    2) Click on the “Search button” to make a search for events in your city. You will see a lot of things that are happening today in your local area. I wanted to know what happening on Las Vegas today so i searched Las Vegas, your site listed lots of event happening today in Las Vegas, I am trying to look for Concert in that place, so I clicked concert under your wiki tag suggestion list.I realized some of the event you listed is not today’s event. Example like The TRIBUTE ROYALTY event, the event was on 22 April. The site should be updated. I wanted to find where can i get the ticket and the price of the ticket to a concert, which I cannot find in your site. Maybe you did not provide this kind of service yet, but it is good allow people to directly buy the concert ticket when they found an event that interest them. You can link with the event agent to have this kind of services. I also found that the information such time for some of the event are not clear. Some of the event did not show what time will the event start. It is important for people to know the time to start because the time, date and place of the event is the main purpose of people using your website.
The interface is simple and it is user-friendly for me, your site listed all the events and there is category or wiki tag for me to pick the category that I wanted to search. I can suggest that, if there is any popular event happening which you think there is lots of people wanted to watch, you can highlight it and display it on top or people most searched event, you can highlight it and put it on top. You also can suggest some good event that will interest people on top. Which the result list can be categorized into suggested event, popular event, most searched event and others.
    3) How do you evaluate the quality of data published? Are you able to filter the events by your favourites categories or tags on the site. Was anything confusing?

The quality of the data published is average for me, because not all of the information is clear. When i click on certain event it link me to another website which it does not show any further details about the event. I hope to see that when I click on the event, you will link me to more detailed info about the event, such as what the event is about, what are the benefits, where can i get ticket.
Yes, i can find the event through the categories and tags on your site.
    4) Are you encouraged to return back to the site within the next few days to stay updated on new current events? Can you tell us why (or why not)? Could you suggest any way to encourage users to return to the site?

Yes, i will come back to this site, this is a good site for me to search for event happening today, so i can actually find some idea on where can i date my family, my girlfriend or my friends to today. I will definitely come back for searching some event. The service you provide is very useful, because people can always look for event happening today from your site. To encourage users to return, one of the way is that you allow people to share the event to others, you can connect it with facebook so people can share this event with others in their timeline, it could also help you get more new users when they share in facebook. Besides that, like i mentioned above, if you can directly sell the ticket from your site, it would be event for perfect, you can actually earn some commission from there, I understand it is too huge for you to get all the tickets agent from all the events but in future, you can think about it in future. You can start with some popular event that lots of people like, try to contact the ticket agent or at least you provide where people can buy the tickets.
Moreover, you can also create a member feature that allows people register as a member of your site, and you will gather their information such as what event they most searched, what are the event category that they like, so when they login, you will suggest the event that they like.

This is somehow similar like register as a member of your site, so they got their own profile and when they login they will see what you suggested for them which is what they preferred. Using weekly mail is another way of doing it, but it might not be as efficient as the register as a member of your site. Using weekly mail you might have less work to do, but people might not see the mail everyday, they might missed out a concert today because they forget to check their mail. If you have the member service, which people login and you show the suggestion, it will be more efficient because people will always login and check for what’s new, just like when it become their daily routine to login and see what’s new in facebook. But it might have more work for you to do the design.
    6) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have to improve the site.

Overall this website is very useful and it’s user-friendly. For the improvement of the site, i have mentioned it above. For your homepage, I would like to suggest that you can present it more attractive way, instead of having a description about your service at the bottom of your page. People might not want to read it because it’s quite wordy. What i suggest is that you can create a simple step by step  instruction telling the visitors how your site works. You can have 3 simple steps which you design it in 3 boxes with some animation and a short description of what first step should do inside the first box. Example” first step: Enter the city to look for what event is happening”. and then 2nd step and 3rd step. I will be more simple and straightfoward for new visitor to get the idea of what service your site provide. I hope it will be useful. All the best to you and Good Luck.

  3. 1) Look around the home page – What is your initial impression of what you see?
I like the clean lines and neutral tones on the home page. The large smiley face on the left side of the page is cute and friendly, although it took me several seconds to realize that it is iactually the site logo. I like the large, unobstructed search box, and that my location (Atlanta, GA) is already filled in. I don’t even have to type in the city!
My eyes totally glaze over the blocks of text describing the purpose of the site. The text is too small, and the text and line spacing is too narrow in this area for me to focus my attention properly. Honestly, I’m not even sure that a lengthy description of the site is necessary, as the purpose of the Web site as an event search tool is already made very clear in the top portion of the page.
Similarly, my eyes almost completely overlook the “Top Cities” section. I’m looking in the top right corner — where the Facebook and Twitter buttons are located — to find contact information for the site, but it takes me several seconds to find that information on the bottom of the page. The bottom of the page is not where I would expect to find the contact information, and the dark gray text links in the horizontal bar at the bottom of the page are difficult to read against the light gray background, and the text is slightly too small.
    2) Click on the “Search button” to make a search for events in your city. You will see a lot of things that are happening today in your local area. Think of some features or things you want to find on this website. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing? Are there any changes to the interface or UX to suggest?
I am very interested in knowing about local events, and I love the concept of this site, but the search results page is confusing to me, and I likely wouldn’t return to this site because of it.
The design of the results page appears sloppy and disorganized, and it is difficult to see every event listed because the individual boxes containing event information are in uneven rows. It would be so much better for each event box in a single row to be the same length, but as the page is currently designed, I have to move my eyes up and down constantly, which makes it difficult to process the information.
Many of the images representing the events are also poor quality, heavily pixelated and strangely cropped, and several of the images appear to have no relation to the event being advertised. The blue italicized “Where” text in each box is easy to overlook. It would be easier to read if the text was black and not italicized.
There are several notable events missing from the page. For instance, this is a major festival season in the Atlanta area, and at least 4 major festivals are taking place here in the next 2 weeks. I can’t seem to find any information on these festivals on this site. I am pleased to see events shown from the High Museum of Art, but as a museum member, I know that there are several upcoming events at the museum that are completely missing from the events page. I am also a member of the local botanical garden, which has a number of upcoming events, but none are listed on the page, and several free concerts and events being held at Piedmont Park in the coming weeks, including the Atlanta Jazz Festival, are absent also. These are significant local events that have no mention on this site.
The search function at the top of the results page is easy to overlook and seems somewhat unnecessary since I’m already on the search results page. It also is laborious to be forced to type my search terms in 3 different boxes. Is it not possible to combine all the search terms in one simple box?
I also think a helpful function to add to the site would be a calendar making tool where users could add upcoming events they want to attend and save them to a list. That would make this site genuinely useful, as opposed to a site that simply compiles information found elsewhere online.

    3) How do you evaluate the quality of data published? Are you able to filter the events by your favourites categories or tags on the site. Was anything confusing?

The information appears to be automatically captured from external pages, with little regard for the veracity of the information. Some of the events listed are obviously incorrect. For instance, a concert by One Direction with Five Seconds of Summer is shown as occurring from May 4 to June 21 at the Sweet Auburn Music Fest. This is completely incorrect, as the Sweet Auburn Music Fest is schedule for May 18-19, and One Direction will not be part of that event, but will be appearing at the Philips Arena on June 21. There are several similarly incorrect events listed on the page.
I didn’t even notice the “Wiki tags” and “Wiki category” sections on the left side of the page until after several minutes of browsing the page, and many of the tags listed seem far too specific to be useful for general users (Judaism and Sex, for example), and “Hip-Hop” and “Hip Hop” are completely redundant. Judging by the tags, most events listed on the page are for school-age sports activities, particularly gymnastics. This is a poor representation of the substantial number of events that occur every day in the local area.
The dropdown menus on the “Detail” buttons for each event are confusing. Why does each event have a dropdown menu with multiple links? For most events on the page, the information available at each link in the “Detail” menus appears to be redundant. Providing just one link in the “Detail” button would be much less confusing.
The lightly colored “Like”, “Comment” and “Edit Event/Report Abuse” buttons in each event box are easy to overlook, and it’s somewhat concerning to find that the event information can be edited by anyone. Are there any procedures in place to reduce prevent users from submitting incorrect event information?

    4) Are you encouraged to return back to the site within the next few days to stay updated on new current events? Can you tell us why (or why not)? Could you suggest any way to encourage users to return to the site?

I would not return to this site in the future, because I do not find the overall quality of the event information to be helpful or accurate, and there are many major events that obviously missing. Most of the events listed are for school, church or business events, which are only interesting to a small segment of people.
Improving the quality and variety of the results would be the most helpful way to gain repeat visits, and adding some sort of event planning tool, as I mentioned earlier, would be incredibly helpful. Redesigning the search results page to have a more orderly and less jumbled appearance would also be extremely beneficial.
A weekly email would be smart, preferably sent out sometime between Monday and Thursday of each week, so that users could have time to sufficiently make plans for the weekend, when most major local events take place. Channels like “jazz” seem too specific to be very helpful, but broader categories like “Live Music”, “Sports Events”, “Outdoor Festivals” and “Art Events” would be helpful.
    6) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have to improve the site.
The concept of the site is great, but the execution is lacking. I would definitely visit this site more frequently if the event information was more accurate, if the event information was easier to read on the results page, and if the site presented a more complete listing of local events occuring in my area. As it is, I’ll still visit my 5 or 6 favorite local news and information sites to compile my own list of events I want to attend.

  4. 1. My first impression is that I like the concept, but I don’t like the home page presentation. While the bold red centered text clearly sums up what the site is all about, the paragraphs that follow are too small and dense to attract the eye, and though I can understand that you want to keep the home page simple, it errs on the side of too drab and dull.

    2. Although there weren’t many events listed for my town (it’s very small), there was an impressive array of events listed in towns near me. I wasn’t expecting the search to work so well and was pleasantly surprised! I decided to search by tags, and that was very successful also. However, when I searched by category, the results were clearly not properly grouped. I then tried using the search bar to input “what” and “when,” and that was successful, too. So my main suggestion here would be to make sure your category searches are working. Additionally, I’d suggest that you make the even thumbnails uniform in size. As it is now, they don’t line up neatly in columns because of the size variation, which is rather hard on the eyes.

    3. I think you have a very promising event aggregator here! I’d love to rate the quality as “high,” but of course there’s the issue with the category searches. However, once you get that fixed, I would definitely say that this is high-quality info. I think I answered the rest of this question in 2.

    4. I actually am encouraged to return to the site. Other than the local newspapers, which only appear sporadically, I have no way of keeping track of upcoming events in my semi-rural area. I love that I can go to your site and say, for instance, “Hey, I want to go to a show tomorrow night. Are there any concerts in the area?” I think Wikido is really going to meet a need, especially for people outside urban areas. I’m not sure you have to do anything special to get users to return to Wikido. I think they’ll come back because it meets a need, which, honestly, is the very best reason for a user to come back to a website, far better than any sort of gimmick you could throw at them. If you want to keep improving, I would suggest that you just continue expanding the sources from which you pull your events. You can never have too big a selection to offer. You might also provide email, text, or mobile app alerts for visitors who want to sign up to be notified of specific kinds of events near them. I suppose you could add a social networking feature and/or message boards if you want to get visitors to spend more time on the site, but I don’t think you’re necessarily going to need it. If you’re worried about monetizing, you could always start charging organizations to have their events highlighted.

    5. Ah, now I see that you actually are planning to provide subscription alerts! As I said, I would offer email, text, and mobile app alerts.

    6. Suggestions for improvement:

–Make the home page more attractive. Add some color and maybe some photos or graphics of people engaged in various activities (e.g., biking, playing baseball, watching a show, etc.). Another option would be to display a sampling of event thumbnails in the visitor’s location.

    –Fix the category search feature.

–Make the event thumbnails uniform in size.

–Get a native English speaker to revise pages with copy. There are a lot of grammatical errors.

I’m going to bookmark this site, which is saying a lot because that’s something I rarely do with sites on StartUpLift. But I think Wikido has a lot of potential to be very useful to me. Thanks, Wikido! Good luck!

  5. 1) Look around the home page – What is your initial impression of what you see?

The first thing I notice is the logo in the upper left-hand corner. I like it design and colors. I’m not certain what it means though.

Strangely, even though the “Search from over 791,759 events happening in the US.” is big and red, I have to look for it. My mind is going: Where does this let me know that this site is for events.

The blurb says the site has all the events for a certain day. That is quite a statement and I’m anxious to put it to the test. If it includes cities outside of main cities, I know of an event tonight and want to see if it is listed.

    2) Click on the “Search button” to make a search for events in your city. You will see a lot of things that are happening today in your local area. Think of some features or things you want to find on this website. Did you find what you were looking for? Was anything confusing? Are there any changes to the interface or UX to suggest?

The event I am looking for is in Taylorsville, Utah, just outside of Salt Lake City. So I type Salt Lake City in the search field. The title for the event as it is listed on EventBrite is: “LEARN HOW TO MASS-MARKET YOUR PRODUCT / SERVICE WITH BOB CIRCOSTA.” I did see a town council work session today in Taylorsville. There is also a blood drive. But the event I’m looking for is not there. I know it has also been posted in a Meetup with links posted to these on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

    3) How do you evaluate the quality of data published? Are you able to filter the events by your favourites categories or tags on the site. Was anything confusing?

My favorite tag is business, since most of the events I attend are business-related. I also enjoy theater and sporting events. I know Les Miserable is playing in town, but I don’t see anything for theater or entertainment, in general. I try art in Wiki tags, but it is not there. It is under the Wiki category: music. What category would a non-musical play be under?

I check out the sports category and find a few things that don’t really fit, such as “Joseph Smith: Prophet and Statesman.”

    4) Are you encouraged to return back to the site within the next few days to stay updated on new current events? Can you tell us why (or why not)? Could you suggest any way to encourage users to return to the site?

I really appreciate event sites. At the moment, I’m not attending many events. However, I have and plan to in the future. I like seeing what is available. However, as you can see, I have not been very successful finding what I’ve been looking for.

Therefore, I am not encouraged to revisit again in the near future. However, once the search engine is working properly and you do include ALL the events as you say state then, yes, I will be interested in coming back.

Americans are not all alike. For me, an email would work well, because I’m at my computer the majority of the day and I have a folder for events.

I think many people would like an app for their SmartPhones where they could request text reminders of certain events. It looks like you do have an app. Not certain what it does.

    6) Please share any additional feedback/comments you may have to improve the site.

I mentioned most things already. A category for business events would be great. An improved search would really be helpful.

One possibility would be to add a community aspect. This could be an opportunity for people to rate their favorite events. Maybe people could connect to attend events together.
