loving the background and bright colors used for the website. it was so easy a young child could understand the website. the results page for the weather was very easy to read and understand and it was was broken down so it made it easier to read on the “Get Notified”tab the red car going down the road made a lot of difference the picture seem more real. I would definately recommend WWHIM to my friends to family and I would most definately come back to this website again.
The bright colors drew me into the site, making me want to enter my info to find out what happens next. I like the filter options so I can see where exactly is the weather that I am looking for around me. I really love the “Get Notified” tab. The option to get weather updates on my favorite locations is a brilliant concept. I would definitely recommend the website (and already have). It is super simple and very user friendly. One of the easiest websites I’ve ever visited.
Very clean looking website and easy to use but has potential for so much more. The first thing I would improve is the writing in the top left. It is a great slogan but it needs to be incorporated into a logo rather then just cursive text. It has such a vibrant body but such a lacking logo. THe body looks great. The picture invites you in and with only one option has a real ease of use to it. To make the website more visually appealing the text under the body picture should all be realigned to fit under the picture and not extend out past the pictures. It wouldn’t change functionality but it would just look more clean and appealing. The search results are great, not only is it visually appealing but it organized in a way that makes sense. IT is comparable to popular websites and will be familiar to many users. The filters on the side should be default the same, either all expanded or all contracted. The map on the bottom of the search does not really serve a purpose in my opinion, it just shows the area in which you searched with a bunch of drop markers but none have labels. Not even clicking the labels will show any information about them, so having a map with a bunch or droppers is not really useful in anyway. Moving on to the “Get Notified” tab the same inviting picture is featured which draws users in but all the input methods should be organized better. It looks ver sloppy when all the inputs go along side the road. The “Contact Us” form looks very well organized and invites the user to submit feedback and suggestions which is a plus. Although the webiste is weather on a whim, it could be greatly beneficial if a feature was added that allowed a user to submit the route of there road trip and details about the weather of the trip was given. It would be a very compelling feature that would greatly improve site traffic. Overall it a well organized website that is very inviting but with some fine tuning you could turn this into a wonderfully designed and popular website.
I put in my zip code and was immediately rewarded with local weather. Good stuff.
I use Opera for my browser, changing the mile range does not work (it does not update) and hitting the back button simply freezes out. Back button does work for Chrome. Update Search does not work, as neither mile range or map are updated. It would be good if when you hover over the push pins on the map that it balloons with say location and current temp?
Myself I am not really keen on the ultra bright colors as they annoy my eyes. Also they can be truly annoying for those who are color blind. There are pallets that are more attractive AND color blind friendly. See https://www.visibone.com/colorblind/ and https://colorlab.wickline.org/colorblind/colorlab/.
Of course that could be just my personal preference. It is a great concept, the lay out is ok, it just needs a bit of navigation polish is all.
The graphics are wonderful, everything is very easy to find, use and understand. I can see that it would be a good site for people who are planning a vacation, and I would be happy to recommend it to friends and family under those conditions, and to use it myself.
However, I do have a concern with their current weather report. I deliberately looked up a city which is under a tornado warning, and there was no indication of anything except a prediction of thunderstorms for the day. Even the map didn’t show anything. A traveler who is not listening to the radio and using only this site would have no clue. In short, I would use it as one tool amongst others for planning a vacation, but not for actual weather data. This site is good, but, to me, would be greatly improved by incorporating up-to-the-minute weather information.
In all honesty, that’s about all it would take to be a great site.
I really enjoyed the layout of the page. It was easy to navigate and I was able to find the weather report fast. The background was really what caught my eye at first and drew me to the web page. I like the easy type in zip code and search and theres the weather. I like a web page thats easy to navigate. I know what im looking for and it was easy to find. Everything on the page was easy to understand. I was not a fan of the ‘Get Notified’ tab. Just wasn’t for me. I just want to see the tempature and weather for the day and move on. I would recommend this web page to friends and family. I even like this site better than some of the local weather pages here at home. All together though loved the page and will be using this page for my main weather source. I do not care much for the fancy web pages. This to me is perfect. A basic web weather page that I can get my information quick.

1) Visit https://www.wwhim.com/. What is your initial impression of what you see? Are you immediately drawn to click any of the buttons? Why or why not?
My initial impression for the website was that I thought it was cute. Maybe too much going on but it was cute. I immediately put my zipcode in and got my local weather.
2) Search for weather in your area. Browse and click around, sort the results, and filter weather conditions. Do you understand the results page?
I put my zipcode in for my area and not only did I get the weather for my specific town but surrounding towns too which is nice just incase I was traveling. Sometimes it’s sunny by me and then I go 10 miles and it’s snowing so that’s great.
3) Visit the ‘Get Notified’ tab. What is your initial impression? Do you understand the page?
The get notified tab was nice but frankly I wouldn’t use it because I want the weather all the time not when it becomes a certain temperature. Other than that it is pretty easy to use.
4) Would you recommend WWHIM to your friends and family? Would you use WWHIM again?
Yes i definetely would recommend this website to my friends and family. It seems easier than other weather websites.
