  1. Visit https://zombal.com. Is it clear what the site is about? Do you have comments about the general design and layout?

When I first visited the site and judged after the “Scientific Outsourcing” I though that the site is like a microjob or freelance site with scientific niches. Then, after reading further, I found out that it is a get paid to answer site for science interested people. But now I know that it is an unique concept that combines both of freelance and answering website that pays their members.
The design looks nice and simple with scientific motives, which perfectly fits the site main theme.

Visit https://zombal.com/how-it-works. Does this give a general overview of the site? What could be improved?

I think that there should be added some more concrete informations on the “How It Works!” page so the visitors will have a more clear vision of the whole purpose of Zombal. The graphic demonstration looks great, but I can’t really decide what are the functions of the two groups from their dialogue boxes.

Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory?

Yes, it was self-explanatory. The “Register” page has clear design and well readable text. Though, attaining the invite code hardens the sign up process a bit (especially for those who have little experience with computers and internet), but it gives the feeling that the site is exclusive (yea, it adds value).

What parts of the site do you like? What doesn’t work for you?

I like the simple design and the fact that there are only a few pages for browsing, so it is very easy to find the location that I am looking for. It only needs some more info and it will be perfect.

Is it clear who the target audience of the site is?

Yes, it is clear. Almost all parts of the site refer somehow to scientists, so it is easy to form an image about the primary users if it.

Is it clear how payment on the site works, if not, why is that?

Yes, it is clear. A member posts a task with a fund for completion, and an another member accomplishes it and gets paid. However, I don’t know what is the minimum payout, if it is any.

Please share any additional feedback and comments that you have.

Nothing to write here, I expressed all my opinions at the previous questions.

  2. Visit https://zombal.com. Is it clear what the site is about? Do you have comments about the general design and layout?

After 10 seconds, you can understand the concept, if you are familiar with wikinomics concepts, which might not be in the mind of all scientists, which is your target audience. Overall, the concept is really good, but I would suggest another explanation of how it works on the initial page.
I like the website layout, besides the faces and the globe, that I think you could make it a bit more professional.

Visit https://zombal.com/how-it-works. Does this give a general overview of the site? What could be improved?

Yes, you can understand the concept a bit further with this page, but I think it takes too much space page. You should condense the initial Venn diagram, so you could fit more info about the Launchers and Catchers. Remember, users that open this page are still deciding whether to join or not, so every second is crucial, to make sure they stay. Avoid clicks.

Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory?

Very simple, and not info-demanding. Nothing to add here, good job! Like I referred before, it’s crucial to make sure they don’t need to click to much to adhere, they are supposed to click a lot after the joined, not before!

What parts of the site do you like? What doesn’t work for you?

I really like the yellow help boxes. Simple and clean, they give you just the essential info to learn about all the aspects of Zombal. Oh, did I tell you that the name is really good? Also, I do like the way yo have created your own name for everything, Zombs, Launchers, Catchers, Quans etc. Since this is for a very targeted audience, it makes sense to create a language that they can identify with, creating a tighter sense of community.
The part that doesn’t work for me is the image of the globe with the people, I think there is some room for improvement.

Is it clear who the target audience of the site is?

After you understand the concept, absolutely. But, may I insist, the first impression on the website should answer that quicker.

Is it clear how payment on the site works, if not, why is that?

The payment system is pretty clear, and, again, the yellow boxes on the right help to understand all the details. Nothing to add here.

Please share any additional feedback and comments that you have.

I think you have a very good product, that creates a real value for your target audience. You are creating a community environment, and your concept is easy to understand.
I would invest in very targeted marketing campaigns, guerrilla marketing essentially, recruit “ambassadors” of Zombal, that could be renowned scientists that give some appraise for you. Put your best fans talking about Zombal.

  3. Visit https://zombal.com. Is it clear what the site is about? Do you have comments about the general design and layout? To me, the site is self explanatory.  The color scheme is nice, it flows well.  It is eye catching, appealing to the senses and it makes me want to continue on.  I found it very interesting.

Visit https://zombal.com/how-it-works. Does this give a general overview of the site? What could be improved? Yes, it definitely gives me the information I am looking for.  I like the way the screen automatically moves down to allow me to view the entire page.  I also like the fact that the top tabs are always available for me to view.   On this phrase:
At Zombal there are two groups of people, those known as Launchers and those known as Catchers. The goal is to help both of these groups work together.
I would like to see the words Launchers and Catchers maybe in a different brighter color to stand out a little better.  Possibly in the same color as they are below.

Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory? I applied for a code, but after 30 minutes, I am still waiting.

What parts of the site do you like? What doesn’t work for you? As mentioned above, I do like How it Works screens.  I think they are wonderfully put together.   On the members screen, I would not feel comfortable using a User unless there was a biography included.   I tried out the Filter when finding work and everything worked perfectly!

Is it clear who the target audience of the site is? I think so.  I think just about anyone would benefit from this site if they were needing any type of scientific research.

Is it clear how payment on the site works, if not, why is that? Yes.  I still not clear on why credits are used instead of just cash though.

Please share any additional feedback and comments that you have. Overall, I think this looks to be a fun yet informative site.  I believe that it will be well utilized.  I would actually like to have read your Terms and Conditions though, but understand it’s in the works.

  4. Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory? I obtained my access code.  I registered using this code and the process was extremely easy.  Basic, simple to follow step by step instructions which allowed me to enter as much or as little information as I wanted.  Very easy.

  5. Is it clear what the site is about? Do you have comments about the general design and layout?
Yes, it appears to be a sort of eLance for scientists, where employers can look for contract workers in the sciences.

Your layout is not bad, but I think it could be improved.  Specifically, I think the homepage could do a better job of communicating what the site is all about.  Although I figured it out, I think I was “primed” for it by your logo, which states that this is “scientific outsourcing.”  If I hadn’t looked at that logo carefully, I’m not sure I would’ve known what the site was about right away.  Right now, you have three rather vague bulleted points in the upper left corner.  I would change them to something more straightforward like:

“Employers: Find qualified scientists around the globe for contract jobs.”
“Scientists: Find jobs in your field and get paid to conduct research.”

These are just rough examples, but I hope you can see the difference between this and what you have now.

Also, what’s the deal with the “private beta invite”?  What is that and why would I need it?

On the plus side, I like that you list jobs right on the homepage so that potential users can dive right in.  Some contract job sites don’t allow users to search their job listings until they register, which is a turn-off to people who want to make sure it’s worth it to sign up before they go through the process.

Does this give a general overview of the site? What could be improved?
Yes, it does.  What I’m finding I don’t like very much, though, is all the gimmicky words: “launchers,” “catchers,” “zombs,” “nets,” etc.  I understand that you’re probably doing this for branding purposes, but I think most people prefer clarity and usability over cleverness.  Why not just call these things what they are–“employers,” “workers,” “jobs,” etc.?

Also, I think the “How it works!” page doesn’t do enough to address the main question that most users have at contract job sites: What guarantee do I have that I’m going to get the work/get paid?  I know that you explore this further in the FAQ, but I think you could stand to explain it here as well since it’s such an important subject.  Do employers have a chance to interview bidders?  Do employers set a flat rate for each job, or do candidates get to ask for what they feel is fair?  What system is in place to verify that work has been completed and delivered?  For example, is there something like oDesk’s monitoring software, which verifies that a contractor has worked for x hours and delivered the work?  I’d like to see your flowcharts include these kinds of steps.  For instance, the employer flowchart might read: “Buy Quans for your account through PayPal, credit, or debit–>Post your job description and set a flat rate–>Interview bidders–>…”  And so on, depending on your process, which I’m honestly not clear on because I read the FAQ, and it turns out that even the FAQ didn’t go into too much detail.

Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory?
Yes, and now I finally know what a “private beta invite” is.  But I have to wonder…why that extra step?  Personally, I’m not a big fan of long sign-up processes.  It’s kind of annoying that I need to go through the run-around of getting an invitation sent to me beforehand.  I mean, what’s the point?  If you want to verify my email, why not just do that?

What parts of the site do you like? What doesn’t work for you?
I like the overall concept.  I’m sure there are people out there in the sciences who could use extra work to make some money on the side or build their resumes.  The wave of the future really does seem to be contractual online work, and this is the first time I’ve seen that available to scientific types.

However, I’m really not loving all the gimmicky words, which are confusing, and I also think the FAQ section needs to be much more detailed and specific.  If I’m a potential employer, I want to know what protections are in place for me to help ensure that I’m hiring a good worker, and if I’m a contractor, I want to know what protections are in place for me to help ensure that I’m going to get paid.  You also really need to include more details about the payment process itself.  For instance, how does one buy and cash out Quans?  Do you accept credit cards, debit cards, PayPal?  Direct links to bank accounts? If I’m an employer, what fee do I have to pay you to list a job, or is this free?

Is it clear who the target audience of the site is?
Yes, scientists and the people who want to hire them.

Is it clear how payment on the site works, if not, why is that?
It is somewhat clear.  That is, I understand that you use a system of credits called Quans, which can be cashed out.  But, as I said above, the whole payment process needs to be further explained.

Please share any additional feedback and comments that you have.
I think I pretty much covered my additional comments above.  One other thing I should mention is that I wasn’t able to conduct a filtered search for zombs.  When I tried it, I kept getting the same three listings.  But maybe that’s because you don’t have any others yet.  I also searched for members and would have liked to see more detailed bios here.

  6. Visit https://zombal.com. Is it clear what the site is about? Do you have comments about the general design and layout?
Yes it clear that your site is about outsourcing but with a science focus. You try to match qualified scientist, allow people to launch projects and get paid to conducts scientific testing. They layout is well organized and had a clean feel to it. It’s nice that you have a quick search box and tabs with nice drop down information. I think that the contact and fun facts info should be at the top of page. I like that you have a nice visual link with the globe but I think that you should incorporate pictures of real people. I also think that the drawings in the three text boxes should also feature pictures that don’t look hand drawn. Your site has such a high quality business feel that those drawings brings it down a notch. You have wonderful branding though out the home page with the “Z”and the word “Zombs”. Great idea to have the “how it works” tab highlighted. Obviously that is a important feature that you don’t want the viewers to miss. Nice variants of the color blue and it’s consisent on the entire page. Of course the the orange tab is such an eye catcher. It stands out perfectly and it doesn’t have to compete with the rest of the color schome.
Visit https://zombal.com/how-it-works. Does this give a general overview of the site? What could be improved?
I must say that this is well executed. It’s it visual pleasing and very easy to follow. Each tab explains the process very well. Great branding positioning putting your self in the middle of the cathers and launchers. Nice titling of the two groups, I like catergoeries. People can easily see which area they would fit in with your website. The only things that I didn’t see was the pricing. I can only assume that’s something that will be detailed when a person sets up an account. I  really appreciate that you were not shy about putting your cut into the visual representation. Often times those types of things are in fine print or you only notice when it time to finalize a payment. These pages capture the visual richnes and professionalism I was talking about when I made reference to the drawings that are featured on the first page.
Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory?
The process quick, fast and easy. I received my beta code within seconds of typing in my information. I thought the zombal profile should have been placed right under the text box that featured my name and such. I think the finance text box should be moved over to the other column.
What parts of the site do you like? What doesn’t work for you?
    Pros:
    Simple sign in process.
Great visualization and easy understanding of how your company works on your how it works page.
Nice branding and use of your of logo throughout each page.
Easy to understand tabs with a fun touch that they change colors when scrolled onto.
I like how large your font is and that the language used is simple for any lay person for scientific guru.

    Cons:
The images on teh first page need to be enhanced to make the professionalism of your website.
I would like to see more information on your contact page.
Is it clear who the target audience of the site is?
It is clear that your target audience is those who need and want work in the field of science.
Is it clear how payment on the site works, if not, why is that?
This area needs to be explained in more detail. You stated that , “Credits that are purchased on the site are used to pay for the zombs you want completed.” How is that price determined? It is one quan per zomb? Does it depend on the size of the task that needs to be completed? Why did your company choose increments of ten for the quans?

Please share any additional feedback and comments that you have.
Does your company handle any part of the process of faulty work on the process of the catcher or miss information by the launcher? I didn’t see security provisions on the part of your company. People want to feel secure when they are doing money transactions.  I finally understand the quans from reading a section on your help center page. That should be highlighted in the section of payment and or finances. Very professional.

  7. Visit https://zombal.com. Is it clear what the site is about? Do you have comments about the general design and layout?

The site explains what its about and it is very clear.  You match “Launchers” to “Catchers”.  I really like the layout and the use of colors.  The site is easy to understand.

Visit https://zombal.com/how-it-works. Does this give a general overview of the site? What could be improved?

Yes it does give a general overview of the site.  I really like the pictures, it gives a better sense of how exactly it works.

I did have a little problem with the navigation of the site.

Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory?

Yes and it was very easy.  I received my code right away.  I don’t see the point of the code though.  It is just an extra step that is not needed.

What parts of the site do you like? What doesn’t work for you?

The site is a very well thought out site.  I think you have done a great job.  I really like the “How it Works” tab.  I find it very useful.  I really enjoy the pictures, it gives people a better idea on how it all works.  I also really like the “Support”.  I think it’s great that your client has an option on clicking type of “urgency”.

I don’t like the “Feedback” at all.  It seems more like a bunch of unanswered problems than feedback.  When clicking on “Feedback”, i am expecting to see your clients giving feedback about your service not people stating problems and getting no responses.  I also find it bothering that when go to the “feedback” there is no link to get back to the homepage.

Is it clear who the target audience of the site is?

Yes, people in the science field regardless if they are scientists or not.

Is it clear how payment on the site works, if not, why is that?

Yes it is very clear.  You get credits and cash them out.

Please share any additional feedback and comments that you have.

Overall I really like the site and the service.  I think it’s wonderful that there is a site like this.  There are a few things that I think need to be changed in which I mentioned above such as the “Feedback” section.

I think on every page you should have a link to the “home” page.  You want your site to be easy to navigate and for people to not feel as though they are stuck on a page.

  8. Visit https://zombal.com. Is it clear what the site is about? Do you have comments about the general design and layout?

This is unlike any site I’ve ever visited before but I think it is clear what the site is about.  The top of the page is simple, graphically pleasant and gives the user the information needed immediately.  The tabs at the top are easily seen and navigated.

Visit https://zombal.com/how-it-works. Does this give a general overview of the site? What could be improved?
I like this page very much because it gives text and image to visually explain the process.  It is straight to the point and explains how the site works.  I like the color changes with the green and red.   It does give an overview and the only improvement I see is more explanation of who the Launchers and Catchers are, what qualifies either to be part of the category.
Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory?
I did obtain a beta user account and it was very simple and to the point.  I like the large block forms to input the information during registration.   I received the code immediately and it was all very simple and quick.  There was no confusion at all.
What parts of the site do you like? What doesn’t work for you?
I like the whole site.  I think it’s visually pleasing, to the point, easily navigated and easy to understand.  The parts that do not work for me is how the payment process is written in a confusing manner and it is unclear who is able to be a launcher and catcher.
Is it clear who the target audience of the site is?
It is no crystal clear who the target audience is.  On the ‘How It Works’ page there are examples which are helpful but I think a listing on each page of who is able to be part of this process would be helpful.  On this listing could be examples “Ph.D students” or qualifications, or if anyone is able then that would be helpful to read.  I think a short sentence would be helpful on the main page as well.
Is it clear how payment on the site works, if not, why is that?
Payment is confusing on how the Catchers receive payment.  I assume it is because the credits from the Launchers are transferred to the Catchers account as money and the Catchers can withdraw money or transfer to their own bank accounts.  I understand how the Launchers receive the credits and pay the Catchers, but it’s unclear how the Catchers receive the payment and the actual monetary amount.
Please share any additional feedback and comments that you have
This site is cutting edge and could be great for college students or those who want to become more active in the science field.  I think this could be publicized and marketed on college campuses and websites and be highly effective.  I think this is a practical application to the science field and getting those interested involved in real ways and keeping communications open between those who may not otherwise connected.

  9. Feedback sought:

Visit https://zombal.com. Is it clear what the site is about? Yes.  Scientists looking for work to do or posting jobs to be completed.  Do you have comments about the general design and layout? Great layout.  Maybe make the text under the orange have “rollover” properties with some type of description or make them into links.

Visit https://zombal.com/how-it-works. Does this give a general overview of the site? Yes.  What could be improved? The text coloring inside the “balloons” extending from the “catchers and launchers” could be darker.

Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory? The process was very simple.

What parts of the site do you like? The ease of use. What doesn’t work for you? The gray text color is not user friendly.

Is it clear who the target audience of the site is? Yes.

Is it clear how payment on the site works, if not, why is that? It is clear on the description but, when you go right under and it explains for buying and withdrawing.  The description leads you to think that the buyer has the funds suspended from his account to ensure payment.  When you look under at the withdrawing…it leads you to think that the funds are put into the catchers account and all they have to do is request a withdrawal.  The same thing but, could be misconstrued somehow.

Please share any additional feedback and comments that you have. No additional feedback or comments provided.

  10. Visit https://zombal.com. Is it clear what the site is about? Do you have comments about the general design and layout? With the title, yes it’s clear. You can improve more on your title and sub title. Make it more clear to people what your business is about with some good keyword. When i first saw the cartoon image, it’s a little confusing. I thought it was a social networking site.  I think the design of the image can be improve. Make it look more professional image instead of cartoon image. The layout is clear and simple. It’s very easy for me to see what you have in a website like yours. It’s not like a complicated website which took me few minutes to figure out whats the site is about. Keep it simple so that people can easy to look for what they want. I notice that you have a search features which is good for visitors to look for what they searching. Your title and all the important tab like sign in, register, and the ‘Get Private Beta Invite’. You placed it in a nice place which is attracting people to click on it. I think if you let people can directly sign in when they first visited is better than they have to click the sign in button. It’s more convenient for us.

Visit https://zombal.com/how-it-works. Does this give a general overview of the site? What could be improved?
Yes, you provide the step by step concept. But the diagram in launchers and catches is a little confusing for those impatient people to figure out. You can make it more simple but clear. The title launcher catchers is abit confusing. You can change the word to something more easy to understand.
People might lazy to click on your titles. You can make it a slide shows. So that people just watch how it works instead of clicking the steps.

Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory?
First, the request invite code making to take longer time to register. Maybe you have ur reason to do that. But i think you should let people enter their username password etc then just email the user and ask the user for entering the invite code for activate account or anything. Like this, people wouldn’t think the register is complicated and leave the page. At least people have already registered half way and just have to add up the code for activating their account or anything. The others register steps is simple and easy.

What parts of the site do you like? What doesn’t work for you?
I like the services that you provide. It’s a win win situation which can help people earn money and also help people to complete tasks. Your site is simple, easily to go through. Not difficult to understand what your site is about. Your browse feature is good. There is a filter to let people search for zombs. You placed the tasks that available in ur page. That’s a very good idea. It can direct the users to see what they can do and it can also attract people to register for it to do the task.
The problem is the site not giving me enough confidence on the payment. You should show some security badge which is approved. Guarantee their payment and add more on the FAQ. Such as what if i don’t receive payment or add customer service center. I know you have a help ticket for the customer service. But u can make it more easy without having to create the help ticket. U can just ask for sending any emails or u can add a live chat in your site. This can make people feel more secure. In ur FAQ section, when i enter problem like bidding on task it doesn’t show anything. The search filter at least give me some relevant answer or take me to the relevant answer section instead of doing nothing. If you only have limited information in the FAQ i suggest that u don’t add the search bar. People might thought it is for entering the problem that you facing.

Is it clear who the target audience of the site is?
Yes it’s clear. With the title scientific outsourcing it’s clear.

Is it clear how payment on the site works, if not, why is that?
It’s clear. But u can add some more information about how to purchase Quans and exchange Quans into money. Some people just will confused with the ‘Quan’ as they don’t know what is it. Explain more detail on how the payment process goes. You can tell the users what problem they will face(if any), so they can avoid and can gain confidence on the users.
Please share any additional feedback and comments that you have.
Keep your site look professional in order to make people trust and feel secure on ur site. It’s very important to make people trust on your site so that they will intro the site to their friends and family. People wouldn’t take you seriously if ur site doesn’t make people feel secure.

  11. Visit https://zombal.com. Is it clear what the site is about? Do you have comments about the general design and layout?
Yes, the concept of this site is very clear. It appears to be a freelancer platform where tasks can be assigned and work can be completed. I like the design of the site. It is very bold and eye-catching.
Visit https://zombal.com/how-it-works. Does this give a general overview of the site? What could be improved?
I love this page. It gives a great visual of the processes that take place within the site. I don’t think I can find anything that needs improvement from this page.
Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory?
The process to set up the account was by far the easiest that I have come across. I like the large fields and the bold labels. It is very self-explanatory with clear instructions.

What parts of the site do you like? What doesn’t work for you?

I love the visual of this site. Everything is labeled clearly and straight to the point. The information expected upon clicking on a link is actually the information presented. The colors are bold but not overwhelming. The graphics make the steps to signing up and understanding the concept almost elementary, which is a great thing. The only thing that I would change is after signing up the main buttons Home, How it Works!, Help, and Browse disappear. Being new to the site, after signing up I still needed those links as a quick reference, but I could not get to them unless I logged out. Those buttons should still be there in the header above the member links even when logged in.
Is it clear who the target audience of the site is?
The target audience is very clear. On the initial home page and also under How it works there are examples of the target audience. College Students, Field Experts, etc.
Is it clear how payment on the site works, if not, why is that?
Again this is another section that kind of disappears after an account is created and logged in. Without a login the How it works section clearly states payment through paypal and also the 10% fee, but once logged in the payment section is very unclear and there isn’t even an option to add a paypal account. It is rather confusing for a new member who is still trying to learn and the FAQ’s don’t offer much information.

I am a freelance worker for quite a few sites, but none are as visually appealing or easy to navigate as this one. I think the concept is brilliant and I am eager to see how well it does. I would suggest maybe opening up the tasks to more than just scientific research and complicated topics. There should be tasks that include data entry, proof reading, editing, etc for those workers who may not be a science graduate, but have transferable skills that allow them to perform tasks for scientific projects.

  12. This first thing that came to my mind… lack of trust. With the comic faces, my first impression was that this is geared towards high-school level science (not PhD). I would not look for a scientist on this venue b/c I would seriously doubt the validity and the quality of the answer I would get.
Further I would get rid of the word “outsourcing” …too negative. As a customer, I don’t care where in the world the scientists are from. I care much more about the results.
I hope that helps! I wish you all the best. The basic concept is sound.

  13. Visit https://zombal.com. Is it clear what the site is about? Do you have comments about the general design and layout?
From the front page is clear what the site is about. Listing the top three concepts on the main site is an excellent idea. This helps to let potential users gain insight as to what the site has to offer.
As far the design and layout – looks good and friendly and inviting. And the nice color scheme is nice on the eyes.
Visit https://zombal.com/how-it-works. Does this give a general overview of the site? What could be improved?
How it works page does give an overview of how the process works. However, the titles I find to be a little confusing. I would consider changing them to something that fits in with the overall concept of the site.
As far as what I feel should be improved is the possibility of simplifying the process of how the launchers and catchers can assist each other. May the addition of a youtube video outline the process instead of having to click on each of the titles.

Obtain a beta user account. Was this process self-explanatory?
The process was self-explanatory and very easy. However, waiting on the invite code beforehand could possibility deter some people from registering. I would recommend the standard, register then get a confirmation code to confirm registration.

What parts of the site do you like? What doesn’t work for you?

I like the overall site as a whole. The only thing that I would suggest changing is the terminology that is used on the site. The multiple key terms such as Net, Zoombs, and Quans seem to be a little over my head, I don’t know if these are scientific terms or not. However, I find that the keeping the terminology simple will provide much more value to the site.

Is it clear who the target audience of the site is?
I didn’t find anything anywhere on the site that made this clear as to you the target audience was for the site. The only thing that may address this is where you introduce Launchers/Catchers. However, that doesn’t really make it clear who should be using the site.

Is it clear how payment on the site works, if not, why is that?
The general idea of payment is clear. However, the terminology of credits is where it gets confusing. I recommend using that straight and simple terms.
Please share any additional feedback and comments that you have.
Overall I think that this is a good idea for a great scientific outsourcing site. With a few of the improvements that have been listed such as adding video to show the launch – catch process and making the terminology a little simpler, you can have the making of a very successful website.
